Jabber & mobility question

Hi!
I am trying to understand the variosu options for mobility for a Jabber on IPAD user when away from the office.
Found this:
1.) Cisco Jabber secure connect enables users who are away from the office Wi-Fi network to easily remain connected to corporate resources. When deployed together with the Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliance, the end user connectivity experience is secure, transparent, and friendly to today's proliferation of individually purchased mobile devices. When needed, the Cisco Jabber application - rather than the entire device or platform - initiates a secure Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection and validates the user credentials (whether authentication, authorization, and accounting [AAA] or digital certificates). Also, when the user returns to the office network, the Cisco Jabber application detects that the SSL tunnel is no longer required and breaks the tunnel down. Only application traffic from the Cisco Jabber application will traverse the enterprise, and other applications will not access corporate networks.
2) The Cisco AnyConnect™ solution is also a supported method of remote access, providing customers with multiple deployment options. When Cisco AnyConnect technology is used, all applications on the device will access the corporate network. Also, this technology is a separately distributed, configured, and operated application. The Cisco Jabber application does not control when Cisco AnyConnect technology is enabled or disabled. In this way, the Cisco Jabber application with integrated secure connectivity simplifies both the end user experience and the management and deployment effort
My questions:
1. I have heard rumors however that the Cisco Jabber secure connect will be discontinued, is that correct?
2. If the customer does not have Cisco's ASA FW, what are then the options? Could they continue to run another non- CIsco remote vpn client and then launch Jabber?
Many thanks in advance!
Anna

Cisco secure connect is only available for Android. IOS devices must use the mobile AnyConnect through the ASA..
Good news is it is only 105 dollar license to cover everyone. One time fee for the ASA license.

  • Jabber Mobile and CallManager SU2a - desk phone control issue

Wanted to put this out there in case anyone has seen it yet and found a fix, or to hopefully save the next person some headache...
Starting to pilot Jabber Mobile via MRA (Collab Edge).  We were running CallManager 9.1.2 base, and there was a known bug with audio and the mobile client, that required a jump to at least SU1.  Since SU2a was out, the engineer i was working with recommended just jumping up to that SU. The problem is, though, it breaks the ability to handoff calls between a desk phone or softphone and the mobile client.  If a call is started from either of those, and you try to hand it off to the mobile client, it won't work.  But, if you start a call from the mobile client, you can hand it off to the desk phone or softphone all day long...
The current 'fix' is to upgrade to 10.5 CallManager, which makes no sense...my TAC engineer currently is working with the BU developers, but hasn't gotten any good info as of yet.
Has anyone else come across this yet?

cgoodale2 -- wanted to put an update in here for you and anyone else who stumbles across this...my SE gave me the following response from the BU - 'This function is not supported in version 9.  He will need to upgrade to 10'.  So, you're pretty much spot-on with having to go to 10.5...which is beyond frustrating, since I've had folks (my SE being one of them...) who said that they had it working on 9.1, SU1...
Good luck to you!  I hope your upgrade goes smoothly...I always get nervous making a significant jump like that.

  • Certificate for Jabber mobile devices?

We are looking to deploy jabber on mobile devices, is it recommended to deploy certificates to the mobile jabber devices for extra security or is it default? How are they deployed - same as handsets via the TFTP download? Does the deployment of the certificate create any issues with the normal working of the mobile?
Every time a jabber client mobile  device logs on to the network, does the expressway E or C check if the certificate is installed or does it check with tftp file?
Can a user remove a certificate manually and again how is the certificate checked?
    thanks

There’s a big difference in what you want, Joel and what the OP asked for.
For plain old vanilla PDF, you should be fine, but the OP is worried about people needing to download something for EPUB when in reality that’s less of an issue than PDF.
There are no stock PDF readers on many tablets and the ones that are there have limited or no interactive capabilities and the better ones like GoodReader are not free.
BTW, I’m not suggesting EPUB as a replacement but without seeing the actual documents in question and knowing the audience and budget, I really can’t give you a better answer.

  • Jabber Mobile/3rd Party App Contact Names

Prior to integrating our CUCM solution with LDAP, whenever we added a user account to CUCM it replicated across to CUPs and the users name appeared to people using windows, Iphone and Android apps as Firstname Lastname. Post integration of CUCM to LDAP has resulted in any new users that are created appearing in the Iphone/Android/3rd Party App as [email protected] rather than the firtname lastname we were previously getting. NOTE **Its not affecting Windows Desktop Jabber users***
We have noticed that if you log onto the cups user page and look at your contact list <Ipaddress:8443/cupsuser> User Options > contacts those that were created in CUCM prior to integration have an entry in the alternative name field.....those that were created in AD and synced to CUCM then replicated to CUPs do not!
I have pulled the following from a log on the Jabber client on a Mobile device (replaced specifics names etc)
    02-25 10:40:14.476 2642 2642 D ContactsAdapter: [ContactListFeatureSet.cpp(359)] [DumpContactListToLogs] - Contact: <0x6be1b928>, name: <Firstname> <Last Name>, jid: [email protected]
    02-25 10:40:14.476 2642 2642 D ContactsAdapter: [ContactListFeatureSet.cpp(359)] [DumpContactListToLogs] - Contact: <0x6a75e6f0>, name: [email protected], jid: [email protected]
Any ideas as to  why the Alternate name field doesn't populate for CUPs contacts when users are created in AD, but did when previously created in CUCM?
Is their a Field in AD that will populate this in the background?

    Thanks Jaime

  • Jabber Mobile Remote Access - No Audio

    Hi,
I have a Jabber MRA setup with windows jabber client version 9.7.4. Internally everything works perfectly, while externally users can login but only chatting is working no audio is being passed to both parties.
The setup consist of the following:
    CUCM Version: 9.1.2.12900-11
    IM & Presence Version: 9.1.1.41900-1
    EXP-C&E version: 8.1.1
EXP-E is installed on a single leg with a natted IP.
I've noticed that the media isn't being routed from the call details on EXP-C & E.
    Attached media error.
    Any ideas,thanks for the help.

    Hello All,
    thanks for your all support.
as i am using single NIC in EXPE. if i go with dual nic, do i need NAT on firewall or it will work without NAT for jabber from outside?
i also want to know how can connect EXPE in dual NIC mode?
do i need to connect physically 2 inetrface to ASA as 1 to internal and 2 to external firewall?
currently i have configured UCS server 2nd physical port in DMZ vlan and connected it. if we use for dual nic how it will configure and work?
do i need to apply ip and NAT on LAN2 interface of EXPE for enable dual nic configuration?

  • LR Mobile Question

I recently activated LR mobile on my iPad. On my desktop LR 5.7, there is a message about having 27 days left on the trial version. I thought I was entitled to the "real deal" as part of my LR/PS/CC membership? How do I fix?

You can normally click on the nameplate to sign-in to LR mobile or use the top menu:
    Lightroom >> Preferences
Then choose the LR mobile tab

  • Lightroom mobile question

    Hi,
I currently subscribe to the photoshop cc photographers package and run mobile lightroom on my iPad and i would like to know if i can also run lightroom on my new iPhone 6 at the same time or can you only use one mobile version.
    Many Thanks Adrian

    Hi Adrian
I’m not sure how that works in practice but it may be possible because you would download a separate app for the iPhone compared with the iPad. But the iPhone 6 is very new so you may want to check over on the Creative Cloud forum to see if iOS8 is already supported.
The only problem I would envisage is syncing photos from the phone’s camera roll. It would create a separate collection in Lightroom desktop via smart previews in the cloud but would not sync with the ipad.

  • Newbie Oracle Mobile question

I hope this is the correct forum - my apologies if it is not...
I am receiving the error "Service unavailable due to content error: Please contact service provider" when trying to view a newly created application (through studio.oraclemobile.com).
I am assuming that this means that either the xml file is incorrect, or somehow, it can't see the xml file. I am using the following settings:
    Remote URL: http://www.mat-man.com.au/handheld/helloworld.xml
    Contents of helloworld.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <SimpleContainer>
    <SimpleText>
    <SimpleTextItem>Hello World</SimpleTextItem>
    <Action label="Reload" type="SOFT1" task="CALL" target="helloworld.xml"> </Action>
    </SimpleText>

Device simulator: Microsoft Windows. Platform SDK for Pocket PC
Desktop Pocket PC Emulation (from version 3.0 of the SDK).
Any help at all is appreciated!!!
P.S. I can successfully view the example applications provide by oracle.

You probably could post it on the Application Server-> Wireless forum. Your XML doc looks fine.

  • Another mobile question?

    Hi,
I m new to java and i wonder if you can help me about my problem. What i wanna do is, there are 2 cell phones, x and y. When phone x gets a call, a sms send to phone y.
Is this possible? and i would be so grateful if you can help me.
    thanks in advance

    well,
there should be an applicaiton (MIDlet or something) in phone x. When this phone x gets a call, this MIDlet inside should understand that this is a call and should send and SMS to a specific phone which is phone y. I dont know how to explain more than that.
    Hope this is more clear.
    thanks

  • Jabber/WebEx Connect SSO Questions

I've got a few questions around exactly what needs to be done to get SAML working for our Connect accounts to successfully authenticate from Jabber for Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android.
We have both a Meeting Center and Connect account under WebEx using Loose Coupled Integration. Just this past week I enabled SAML for our Meeting Center accounts which went off without a hitch with the exception of Meeting Center integration with Jabber, which is now broken with a message about SSO enabled Meeting Sites not being supported (I think this would maybe be fixed if we had Tight Coupled Integration with our two account?).
    Anyway, my questions are...
For Windows, I understand all clients will need to be reinstalled with the MSI argument for the SSO_ORG_DOMAIN switch I've read about, is that correct? Are there any other switches needed for the reinstall?
How will this work with the Mac and mobile clients? There's obviously no command line options to specify for the installations here, will they just know to kick over to my IdP for authentication once they see an email address that falls under an org with SSO enabled? If so, why does the Windows client need to be completely reinstalled and not just know to find the IdP from the Cloud Connect service like Meeting Center does with the Productivity Tools?
We're just doing this for our Connect Web IM accounts, not attempting any sort of SSO with the phone accounts/UC integration yet.
Any ideas on getting the Meeting Center integration into Jabber working again?

I'd suggest posting your question over on the Jabber Pilot forum, as this forum is specific to Jabber Guest questions:

  • Jabber and Mobile Connect

Just setup Jabber (9.0.2) on iphone with Mobile Connect (CUCM 7.1.5). I run into incoming call issue where both Jabber & mobile phone would rings about the same time. I did some of research and Cisco doco below state Mobile Connect should automatically inactivated when Jabber is running and connected to the corporate network.
Anyone has this issue or could point me to the right direction?
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/iPhone/9.0/JABI_BK_J29330BB_00_jabber-for-iphone-admin-guide_chapter_011.html#CJAB_TK_ADA0EB97_00
Add Mobile Connect and Mobile Identity
Mobile Connect, formerly known as Single Number Reach (SNR), allows the native mobile phone number to ring when someone calls the office number while Cisco Jabber is not available.
When Cisco Jabber is running and connected to the corporate network, and thus available to receive VoIP calls, Mobile Connect is automatically inactivated.
The user requires a Mobile Identity to transfer Cisco Jabber VoIP calls to the mobile voice network.

Remote Destinations will always ring, regardless of whether the TCT device is registered or not. A Mobile Identity will not ring when the TCT device is registered to CUCM. This is especially important as you don't want the cellular phone and the wifi phone app contending for the user to click answer on both on the same device. You may still want to use RDP if the user has a home office in addition to their smartphone.

  • Can jabber client connect to external other telepresence devices?

Hi. I have some questions about jabber environment and jabber client.
    1. When I want to use jabber on Mobile, I know it would be needed Anyconnect VPN feature of ASA.
But, if CUCM and CUP have public IP address:ignoring security issues for test,
Can Mobile(using celular network) device use jabber application without VPN, TURN, STUN or ICE Server?
    2. I heard CUCM interwork with VCS-Control through SIP Trunk, VCS-Control deliver data to VCS-Expressway for Exteran connection.
If then, Can internal Jabber Desktop user call to External teleprsence deivce such as HDX8000 of Polycom?
    3. I know Jabber Mobile clients do not support video presence yet, except for I-PAD.
So, when does Jabber client support video presence feature? I think I have waited enough.
thank you for inconvenience reading, because of none-mother language.

There are three Airport resets, soft, hard and factory default.  It would probably be beneficial if you tried each one in sequence.  Actually, you could jump to the factory default reset if you don't mind reconfiguring from scratch.

  • Jabber and Gsm Call status

Is it possible to automatically update presence status to busy in jabber mobile when the user is attending a gsm call?
I've been testing with jabber for iPhone and it doesn't work...

Single DN only I'm afraid. Multi-line is on the roadmap but I can't speak to a timeline.

  • Which Android Device is best/most reliable with Jabber

    Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a small test network as a proof of concept for the Jabber mobile application the network being used is quite simple, closed with no DNS.
I have tried the samsung Galaxy Tab and a Samsung S3 to no avail... I know that the galaxy tab is supported and the S3 is not with the COP.
what device would you recommend that works and has anyone else got any hints and tips/workarounds/known issues with jabber and android devices?
Any help that could be provided would be brilliant
    Thanks.

    Hi Brendan
I've not got a huge amount of experience with different Android Smartphones, but I can say that the client works pretty well with an HTC Desire-S. I've had the application abort a couple of times, but other than that, it's been pretty stable

  • Upgrade from CUCM 7.1.5 to 9.1 (No UCSS and ESW contract)

    Hi,
we have CUCM 7.1.5 cluster (two servers) with no UCSS and ESW contract.
What would be the best and cheapest way to upgrade to CUCM 9.1.
We are planning to use our VMWare system and buy only CUCM 9.1 software (no servers).
Can the current DLU's be trensfered or do we have to buy everything from scratch.
    Regards.

For using Jabber mobile if you go with UCL - you wil need enhanced/enhanced plus. Or you can use CUWL std or pro both. Choose the licensing type based on your needs keeping in mind the future path of your organization. If you go UCL you will need to buy add on licenses for voicemail, webex etc. If you choose CUWL Professional for every user you buy one license - which enables them to use phone, voicemail, webex, jabber etc. Choose according to your needs, now is the time you can upgrade the licensing as you will benefit from discounted prices.
