Jagged peaked cpu utilization during export

Hello All,
When I export JPGs onto my local drive from lightroom 5.6 the CPU utilization is rather low and goes up and down (see photo below). Also the export is quite slow, 250 files at 90% from RAW.  Is this pattern normal and why is lightroom not using all of my resources??  Only <1/2 CPU and 4 GB of RAM out of 12.  I didn't have anything else running except a browser.
I see a consistent very high CPU utilization when rendering out of after effects and much higher, but still somewhat peaked utilization with Premiere Pro media encoder.
My system is pretty fast, i7 quadcore, haswell.  It does not seem that all the cores are being used by lightroom, but that is a known issue I guess that can be addressed by breaking up the export into multiple smaller exports.
Thanks

Hello,
here are my results. One export. Screenshot from task manager and thread view from process exporer.
Now, same screenshots with two exports:
Never saw more than 3 threads (parallel processes) with on export but 6 threads with two exports. Systems becomes sluggish with two exports. Overall CPU usage of Lightroom increases about 10-20%.

  • Throttle CPU utilization during software updates

Are there any settings to throttle CPU Utilization during software update installation on client computers?  I am deploying updates to test systems currently and noticed that the CPU utilization was being pegged at 100% during the install.  After
the updates installed, the system returned to normal.

Also note that ultimately, it is the Windows Update Agent that is installing the update(s) so it's not really within ConfigMgr's scope of control and would happen no matter what method you chose to use to update these systems with Windows Updates which
leads me to believe these systems have perf issues to begin with. Are they VMs?

  • CPU utilization during GC...?? (Need Help).

In am currently investigating high CPU utilization of an application at certain peak times.
During the course of investigation, I was watching the Performance Monitor screen on the Weblogic Admin Console.
I noticed that the "Memory Usage" graph(Amount of memory available in the JVM Heap) is showing continuous set of spikes during the peak times of the application.
    Now I am wondering if:
    1) I can infer that this is really GC happening multiple times, which is showing as the spike pattern on the graph.
(I cannot turn on any verbose GC options, since the app is on production).
    2) Does doing GC contribute to the User CPU or System CPU.
(Although the JVM i.e: Weblogic server was started as a user process, I want to know if GC is completely accounted into the User CPU count).
Please advice. I really want to get this thing clear.

    Hi,
Yes, the sawtooth pattern shows that a GC has happened on every peak.
I assume that you run on top of some Linux distribution.
GC does contribute mainly to the value registered under User CPU unless you have limited physical memory on your machine where you could note an increase in System CPU during swapping.
Optimization could also contribute to high CPU usage, you can turn off optimization with -Xnoopt.
If you run with -Xgc:parallel (default with most JRockit versions), highest throughput is achieved when all CPUs concentrate on GC, thus generating a high CPU usage.
What JRockit version are you using? (Include -showversion in your commandline or run java -version.)

  • Hd tach - cpu utilization

I just wanted to share my findings in case anyone else is having this problem.
I've been running WinXP Pro for months, but last night while trying to figure out my freezing/rebooting problem I figured I'd run a Hard Drive benchmark to see my CPU Utilization.
    http://www.tcdlabs.com/hdtach.htm
    Hd Tach 2.61
After running it I found that my CPU utilization was 54% !!!! That's crazy.
    I have MSI KT333 Ultra....newest via 4in1 drivers.
I looked and it was running at DMA 5, bus mastering was enabled in the bios. At this point I was confused, I tried switching cables...reinstalling drivers...looking for tweaks....no go.
Finally I noticed on Via's page:
    http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=66
They have "IDE Miniport Driver".....figured what the heck....installed it, rebooted, and BAM! my CPU Utilization is down to 9%....much better.
Thanks for reading my rant. I encourage some of you to try out this benchmark and see what you get.
    Adios!

I don't think Speedfan gives you CPU Utilization during peak HD usage. That is something different.

  • Poor Rendering CPU utilization

    Hi,
I just got my brand-new PC including a Intel Core i7 920 and ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard running on Windos 7 RC. I created a demo project and exported a sequence to 1920i m2v format. I was very disappointed that the CPU utilization during the rendering process was only 20-25%. Same with rendering for preview within premiere itself. Is there any way to improve this?
    - Stefan

Could there be a mistake somewhere? I ran the Sandra benchmark on physical disks and got these results:
With 6.00 ms access time your access time would be the same as a 15K SCSI-3 disk.
All the SATA disks, including my Areca raid show access times around 13 to 16 ms.
BTW, Sandra gave my raid a drive index of 1479 MB/s. It shows that interpreting these results from different benchmarks it a difficult job. The results vary so much between programs. For instance:
SANDRA:      1479 MB/s, but indicates the size correctly as 10 TB
HD Tune Pro:   745 MB/s, but indicates the size INcorrectly as 2199 GB
    HD Tach:         802 MB/s
all on the same raid array. The same applies to access times, with Sandra 13.2 ms, with HD Tune Pro 9.1 ms. All my single SATA disks show around 13.5 ms access time in HD Tune Pro. The drive index for single disks do not vary as much, both Sandra and HD Tune Pro show around 91 MB/s.
From what I have seen it looks like HD Tune Pro is the most representative benchmark for disk performance, more so than Sandra.

  • High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303

    Hi everyone,
I have the problem about High CPU utilization on CSS 11501 version sg0750303.
Our customer has used one pair of CSS 11501 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "Old CSS" after here in this post.
However traffic via Old CSS had been increasing so customer decided to add one more
pair (active-standby) of CSS to separate traffic.
Yesterday we installed new two CSS 11501 version sg0750303 (active-standby).
As a matter of convenience, called "New CSS" after here in this post.
Today, active CSS 11501 and standby CSS 11501 which were installed yesterday (New CSSs)
    indicates High CPU utilization.
    Active CSS 11501:
    Peak CPU utilization: about 85%
    Average CPU Utilization: about 60%
    Standby CSS 11501:
    Peak CPU utilization: about 40%
    Average CPU Utilization: unknown
I do not understand why CPU utilization of both New CSSs become high.
The traffic pass through New CSS less than Old CSS, because the traffic is separated into
    Old CSS and New CSS.
And CSS's configuration parameters (service, content, access-list) also less than Old CSS,
because real servers are also separated into Old CSS and New CSS.
Old CSS indicated average of CPU utilization about 20% before installing New CSSs yesterday,
in spite of all traffic pass through Old CSS only.
I wrote "New CSS remains High CPU utilization", however end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 remains High CPU utilization on normal situation ?"
And customer uses MTRG to poll SNMP for Old CSSs and New CSSs.
So I have the question "CSS 11501 sg0750303 become High CPU utilization in case of receiving
    SNMP polling ?".
Or if this situation is abnormal we need to start investigation.
Would you please let me know how do we investigate this situation.
I found the DDTS CSCek57080 "Performance issue using arrowpoint-cookie with ASR".
Release note of this DDTS says that
A customer was using a CSS pair configuration where arrowpoint-cookie
is being used along with a redundant-index on many content rules. When
the flow rate increased to a few hundred flows/sec, the peer message
queue of the CSS receiving ASR related message began to fill up.
When the peer message queue became over subscribed, the CPU increased
    and the CSS became unstable.
New CSSs have configured redunrant-index on two content rules, and end users do not feel the
performance issue (e.g., performance delay, communication failure and so on) and
the traffic pass through New CSS normally.
So I think this DDTS does not related to this case.
Your information would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,

    Gilles,
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
I got the capture you instructed us.
The following are additional information from our customer.
    At time user traffic path through the active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 30% - 40%
    Peak CPU utilization about 60% - 80%
    At time there is no user traffic pass through active CSS, active CSS indicates;
CPU utilization always range of 0% - 5%
Attached files are named "Active CSS.log" and "Standby CSS.log".
"Active CSS.log" is captured on active CSS and "Standby CSS.log" is captured on
    standby CSS.
I found the following process is using resource by looking the output of
    "shell 1 1 spyReport" command.
    On active CSS,
    tFlowMgrPktR 8ba24070 50 26% ( 1469) 20% ( 26)
    On standby CSS,
    fmPeerMsgTas 8a511510 50 16% ( 176) 10% ( 7)
Your comment would be greatly appreciated.

  • 100% CPU Usage in CS5.5 Premiere Pro during export/encoding

I am wondering why my CPU usage is so high during exporting of my videos.  My counter shoots up to 100% as soon as I start and hovers at 95% throughout the whole process.  This seems dangerous to me so I wanted to bring it up here as I haven't found anyone with this same issue on this website or google.  Here are my system specs:
    i5-2400 CPU @3.10GHz
    6 GB of Ram
    64 bit windows 7
Geforce 660 ti graphics card (2gb)
They aren't top of the line but I feel like it should be capable of encoding.  I've cleaned my fans and tried using avi and h.264 formats which both led to the same issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm new to premiere pro so I'm sure I left some useful information out above.

    "...the same results"
This means high CPU usage, right?
    Correct
Are your exported media files ok?
I've only completed one because I was freaked out but yes they are fine.
I guess the thing I'm worried about is my temps going up really high because of the 100% usage.  I thought that they were both entertwined as in high usage = high temps.  I'll look for a temperature program to run while encoding and I'll monitor how high the temps get.  You've given me hope here as I may have been making mountains out of mole hills.  If the temperatures are high would you recommend more fans in my desktop?

  • WAAS experiencing high CPU utilization

We are monitoring WAAS devices for CPU utilization in our Network.Currently we have set the threshold for 70%. At this threshold we see a large number of alerts from WAAS crossing 70% CPU utilization. I guess 70% CPU utilization is normal for WAAS. Am I right???

    Hi Daniel,
Yes, during the peak hours sometimes the CPU shoots even upto 95% and then in next 5 min comes down to normal below 70%.
Since our threshold is 70%, we get a lot of inactionable(because it becomes normal in 5-10 miinutes only) alert.I was wondering if we could change the threshold.
One of the Cisco Tac Engineer replied to the above question :
That is true. It is normal to have a high CPU utilization in normal Operation as we mentioned earlier it runs on underlying Linux kernel and linux does not use Page file rather it uses Maximum RAM that it could .

    Get-Mailbox -Database DB1 | ? {$_.samaccountname -like "[n-z]*"}

  • 100% CPU usage during downloads in iTunes 7

Wow, ever since I installed iTunes 7, my CPU stays pegged at almost 100% utilization during iTunes downloads. Downloading podcasts, songs, video, etc. all cause the CPU usage spike.
Running 2.26 Ghz P4 with 1 Gb RAM, 200 GB HD.
Even when I'm only getting about 200K/sec in data, CPU is pegged. Machine becomes very sluggish. Once the download is complete, CPU usage goes back to close to 1-3%.
    Any ideas?
Dell Dimension 2400   Windows XP Pro   Mac Mini PowerPC

I had to revert back to version 6.05. iTunes 7 on XP is unusable. I used to browse the web and do other productive things while my podcasts were downloading. Now the CPU is pegged so high, that I can barely get the machine to respond.
I installed iTunes 7 on my 1.42 GHz Power PC Mac Mini with only 512 Mb RAM. Downloading 3 large video podcasts at one time only pushes the CPU to 60%. One large download is around 20%. The machine is totally usable while downloading.
Looks like they got the Mac OS X version right and the XP version way wrong!
I'm sticking with version 6.05 on XP until they can fix these usability issues.

  • Increase in CPU Utilization after migration from APEX 3.1.2 to APEX 3.2

Has any noticed any increase in CPU Utilization after migrating from APEX 3.1.2 to APEX 3.2?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Take a look at some of the usage reports within APEX (sessions, page views etc) to get an overall feel for where the time is being consumed.
You'll also find it useful if you can run a statspack report (or AWR, ASH etc) during a busy period to be able to drill down into where that CPU is being spent.
There's no magic answers here unfortunately, you need to track it down to where the time is being spent before working back up to find out where best to tune it.
