Jagged Photos no matter what I do
Why do unedited photos out of iPhoto look excellent when imported and played in iMovie look horrible when imported into FCE? I have tried many of the tips in this form to get photos to look good when they play full screen in FCE but they still pale in comparison to the same photo in iMovie. What the heck is going on? I must be doing something wrong but what?
HPL, great! I will try that until I can actually get my iMac configured to view directly to TV. I was like you....very frustrated! I couldn't believe that iMovie could be so easy and produce I great movie and then the high end product I keep hearing about, could be so difficult and produce such a terrible move when using photos. I have gone back to iMovie until I can get things figured out with FCE. On the flip side, I never want to go back and even attempt video editing on a Windows machine. I wasted countless hours and thousands of dollars trying to produce a quality product. I was able to create very nice movies in minutes when I switched to the mac and imovie / idvd. Now I want to up the bar and learn to use FCE and make even better movies. Thanks again for the info.

No matter what option I select- iPhoto either crashes or the beachball starts spinning. Either way, I can`t access the photo book anymore.
Is there anything I can do?
The selected theme is definitely still available in iPhoto, so this can`t be the real problem...
I have been sitting on the book work for days...

DennisMake a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If that doesn't help launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does then a reinstall of iPhoto is warrented.
If the problem does not appear in the test library then your current library is damaged. In that case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Have you synced them to a computer first (as you should be doing to archive them) and then sync them to the other device?

My Photosmart C4750 printer chops off the photo prints when using photo paper no matter what settings I use. I don't have any trouble when using regular paper. I have a Touchsmart 300 PC using windows 7 and I use either PMB from Sony for my photo editing or Corel Paint Shop. The problem seems to be in the printer. It starts printing the picture off the paper. Can you help me?
I called their tech support and they informed me that the printer was out of warranty so they could not give advice unless I payed the one time fee or bought a 1 year plan. First, the guy's India accent was so strong that I couldn't understand him. Next, the prices they wanted were almost the price of a new printer. So, I declined and wrote my post on the forum, but got no responses. Yours is the first. Then HP sent a survey. I gave all bad scores.
In March I got an e-mail saying I had a one year warranty and would I like to extend it. I called the number and got another India accented lady this time. In the background a little kid's voice was saying "Mom, Mom". This was not going to go well, I knew from the start. So I explained my problem over again. She told me to hold a minute then came back and said my printer was out of warranty. I read off the e-mail and she said that meant my printer had been out of warranty a year and was asking if I wanted to extend. I asked the cost and again it was the price of the printer so I said NO. She asked if I wanted help to solve my problem. I asked if she was going to charge for it and she said Yes. I told her I would just buy a different printer and hung up. HP sent another survey and I gave all bad scores again and wrote the comment that I will never buy another HP printer. I heard Epson Printers are very good for photo work. I will give them a try. -
After Firefox loads the home page (google), the first web site I click in my bookmarks takes 4-6 minutes to come in. Clicking on screen makes it go half-tone until it loads. From then on, all other bookmarks come in fast. It doesn't matter what bookmark I load first, it always takes major minutes. I am using Norton 360 and have even disabled the security and web checking and it made no difference.
Okay, here's what I found out. Followed the above instructions...no joy. I think this maybe needs to be posted in a general OS forum, as I'm thinking this is more about that vs just being about iPhoto/iTunes. Here's what I tried and learned.
A new account allowed iPhoto to open up immediately. However, iTunes seemed a touch slow...not sure if that is just due to it being a new account. So, I deleted that account and moved on to the preferences instructions above.
I removed all preferences and placed them in a "preferences A" folder on the desktop. Launched iPhoto and got the exact same results. Super slow...took forever to open. Took forever to close. Same with iTunes.
So I placed all of the removed preferences back into the folder and decided to start launching and closing apps to see what's affected, what's not. Here are the findings.
iPhoto - The worst of all. Takes 4 minutes to open.
Mail - Opens fine, closes very slowly...apprx 1 minute
Calculator - This now opens incredibly slowly. Also noticed that the blue light below a launching app in the dock that seems to radiate was not radiating immediately....just sort of sat there. About a minutes passes, then it radiates for a second and calculator opens. Quitting is instant
Garageband - Launching is slooooow, quitting is instant.
Lightroom 3 - quitting is slow....quit results in upper-left menu items flashing once, then beach ball for about 30 seconds.
These apps check out perfectly fine with no problems launching or quitting: iCal, Safari, Firefox, Aperture, Photoshop (CS3), Illustrator (CS3), InDesign (CS3), Acrobat, Suitcase, Image Capture, Disk Utility, Text Edit, Photo booth, Final Cut Pro.
So I'm at a loss. This may be more of an OS issue, but figured I'd post here to follow up on the suggestions given. I think I'll pose a question in the OS forums. I'm thinking this might mean boxing up the iMac and making a trip to the genius bar. It's incredibly frustrating. -

Go to File>print in Editor. In the dialog that comes up, you should see "Page Setup". Select "Portrait".
This assumes that the file is in portrait orientation as well, before sending it to the printer.
As for question #2, I am unaware of a numeric sequence such as you would like in this program. You can alter file size via File>save for web, however. -

No matter what I try, I keep getting "iTunes could not backup the iPhone/iPad because a session could not be started with the ..."
These are other steps you can follow to restore any data, photos etc. , lost as a result of restoring your device. Hopefully this can help you should you encounter the same problem I did.

I can't change the screen resolution no matter what i do
Suddenly i found the screen resolution unsatisfactory so i tried to change it and there were two displays to choose between in display option. as the pictures shows the first display has only two resolution options and the second has many but no matter what i choose and click on apply/ok it doesn't change unless i click on 'Extend my Windows' and it doesn't really change it only changes the resolution option

IPod basically unusable. No memory no matter what I do.
Hi, I bought my iPod around late December, In the past few weeks, the memory has ran out preventing me from buying any more apps or songs, or taking photos. App use was difficult as well. Now, no matter what I delete, the thing still does nothing. I'm afraid to delete my app that uses the most data, because chances are; that won't work either. I'm feeling very annoyed and betrayed by Apple now, And worst part is: I can't even transfer my old photos to something on my computer because I'm gonna reset the iPod to get my memory back. What am I supposed to do??
Only photos/videos in the iPod's Camera Roll album show up in the DCIM folder. Where are the photos on the iPod?
You can try using the computer's camera/image capture program to get the photos/videos from the Camera Roll album too.

How can I fix my MacBook Pro? I have a relatively recent model of the MacBook Pro. I’ve been running Mavericks.
For the past few days, it has been randomly clicking off by itself, I guess crashing. I would be online or just doings on it, sometimes nothing at all, and the screen would go black, the computer would turn off. Then, I would proceed to try to turn it back on, and it won’t turn on for several minutes, no matter what buttons you push. I tried doing an SMC reset for myself. It did not help much. I deleted all my personal files, including plug-ins, especially flash player. I thought that helped, but the computer proceeded to turn off minutes later. Then, out of frustration, (as I have done twice or so before since having the computer) I did what may be called a factory reset for my computer. I erased the current operating system information/memory in disk utility, and then went on to reinstall OS X. This was working fine, and then, a few minutes into the downloading process, my computer turned off once again.
Now, I have no system to operate on. I keep turning the computer back on to try to do it again. But now, the computer tries to do a remote or internet recovery, and tries to re-download an operating system using my WiFi. I’m sure this would be successful, but the computer can’t function for more than a minute or two without crashing/turning off.
I am fairly certain that my power button is NOT stuck.
I did earlier notice the fan making noise, before doing the SMC reset.
The computer did seem to say there was no batteries available at one point.
(But all of this was okay after some point, and I was just doing the reset to try to correct the turning off the system was still doing)
A week or two ago, I did have a glitch where my desktop picture was flashing and acting weird, and other functions on my computer keyboard not working, like volume, keyboard brightness, etc. But I did fix it.
I have not ever had much on this Macbook pro. I do not download applications. I do not store nearly any files on the computer. I usually only use the flash player plug-in. This computer is only used for doing work/business, and for personal use online.
I can’t see why I would have so many problems.
Is it possible that erasing the memory twice or so before is causing an error or issue in the drive?
What is the root of this problem, and how can I fix it on my own?
I can’t really make any progress on the computer since it turns off after only a minute or two no matter what you are trying to do.

if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it. -

Up to about a month ago, I never had any problems setting my Home Page to Using Current Pages. Then, all of a sudden, I am unable to make any changes to my Home Page no matter what I change the settings to. I work for the US Forest Service and I don't know if some program was loaded that prohibits any changes from being made. Any help would be most appreciated.

Keyboard lights will not stay off no matter what I do on my MacBook Pro. Why??
I've got a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo.
I have ALWAYS left the keyboard lights off for the 4 years I have had it.
But lately, no matter what settings I change or what I try, I cannot PREVENT the keyboard lights from coming on when I've been away from the computer for a long period of time.
Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light is NOT checked in System Prefs. I have reset the PRAM, and left the laptop off with the battery off for hours in hopes of resetting it.
Nothing will work. Almost every time I am away from my computer for hours, I come back and the keyboard lights are on. And when I tap the keyboard light brightness buttons, it just gives me the buster symbol (white circle with a line through it) on screen below the keyboard light brightness indicator for a few seconds. Somehow continuing to tap those buttons eventually makes the lights just turn off. Or holding my hands over the whole keyboard to trigger the sensor can suddenly allow me to control the on/off brightness with those buttons again. In which case I try turning the lights off completely or turning the brightness so low that it goes off.
But once again, when I wake up in the morning, I find the keyboard lights on.
Now the ONLY thing that has changed since this started happening is that I added a new User account. BUT that should asbolutely not cause this problem. I have checked to see if the System Preferences for the keyboard lights in the new user account were causing a conflict, but no, they are exactly the same as my main account.
I have not tried deleting the user account yet because I actually want it and would find it very hard to believe that was the culprit. It's just the only thing I can think of that changed shortly before this started happening.
Is there anything else I can do!?! Is there some preference file that controls the lights somewhere that could be corrupt that I need to trash?

first try doing a smc reset
if that does not work then it is a hardware error. Many people have had the problem and they have not been able to fix it so good luck
