Jam Pack Error

I upgraded Logic Express 8 to Logic Studio 9 last night on a 2007 Intel Mac and clicked on all install options. It took a long time, but it is running fine even though at the end of the installation it said that a major error had occurred; however, I don't believe it ever asked me to install the 3rd Jam Pack Cd. Is there a way to check which of the jam packs were installed and how do I install those that were not?
Thanks in advance

I had the same problem.
Someone else reported that they encountered the error message but the Jam Pack installed for them anyway.
But it's not working for me, or for you apparently.
I don't think it's the content, but an incompatibility with the installer (which could be downloaded - easy for Apple to fix).
Here's the feedback link. If enough people let them know it's not working, hopefully they'll fix it:

  • Error when installing jam pack/audio content on new imac

Keep trying to install the audio/jam pack cd´s that came with my Logic Studio bundle on my new Imac/Leopard. When i´m almost done installing, it asks for the "logic" cd and then after a while i´m getting an error "installation failed"- disk corrupted" or something? I cannot as it works now find (almost) any of the audio files that i´m using (brass/horn sounds etc..). Anyone who´s had the same experience?
    Thanks!

Also seeing this problem. I'm updating to latest logic and 10.5.3 right now to see if it mitigates it.

  • Jam pack content error, any ideas?

Just did a re-install of Logic Studio, and all of the supplied content. When I make a new software instrument track and select a jam pack preset sound from the library browser, it loads the sound just fine, but when I try to select another sound it says "File not found / result code =-43." If I create a new software instrument track, and repeat the process, the same error code comes up. Any idea why it would let me load just a single sound, then give me the error message when I try to select another?

I don't usually use Jam Packs so today was the first time I've checked to see if they are there. Nope. I only have Jam Pack 1 showing up in my library. I checked GarageBand and it sees all 5, so something is wrong with Logic Studio not seeing them.
I did a full upgrade from Logic 7 and have never had Jam Packs before (so they are not left over from a previous install). When I did the upgrade, all options were available and I just did a full install, not a custom one. It said it completed successfully.
Any ideas on how I can get Logic Studio to see the Jam Packs?

  • Getting a file not found error with jam pack instruments

Since Logic Express no longer works with the current Mac OS X versions, I'm trying to get used to using GarageBand again while I save up to buy the full Logic Package.  I had purchased all of the jam packs years ago and recently also purchased Main Stage.  Now, when I go to use, for example, an instrument from the Orchestral jam pack, I get a message saying "EXS24 instrument “Cellos.exs”: Audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav” not found!" with the option to continue or search again.  Clicking "search again" always ends up with the same message.  This is driving me nuts!  Pretty ****** off right now that I can't use what I paid money for.  Isn't this stuff supposed to "just work"?  Or did that die with Steve Jobs?

same Problem: Working with OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro Santa Rosa and Logic Pro: Its not possible to use the cello.exs 'cos missing audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav”, same problem with Basses.exs (missing KB-L_legato_f_A#1.wav) and the  Piano. All this broken Instruments are from the Jam pack Orchestra Library.

  • I installed logic studio 9 but it says error when i install the jam pack content

The apple site says that logic 9 comes with six jam packs, but I only see 2 in the tab entitled "library." These are Jam Pack Voices and Jam Pack World Music and when I only put any of the jam pack Content Cd's (that come with logic studio) and click on the cd all it has on it is a text edit file. Is it a corrupted cd? I have seen other posts about it but no definite solution. any possible ideas? Thank You!

    Hi
Something is not quite right here:
I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?

  • Find Remix Jam Pack loops not labeled by Genre in loop browser?

I've got all four Apple Jam Packs installed.
The World and Symphony jam packs are great, as I can locate the loops in the loop browser by Genre.
But the Rhythym and Remix jam packs don't seem to be labeled by Genre.
How can I identify them? There are way too many to just look and see what seems to be new or find them by trial and error.
Even the EXS24 instruments had to be moved to separate folders by hand to separate them from the other Garage Band instruments (but I could separate them from the others by date, so I figured out a way).
Frustrating to have installed a new product, and be unable to find it!

    Hi Les,
I haven't used the loop browser much in Logic, but I know that it is very similar to the one in Garageband. If it's pretty much the same browser, then there will be a way to filter your search by "packages." For example, you can select the Remix jam pack and select loops just from it's collection.
I'm not on my Logic computer, so I'll test this later...

  • ? why ?32 bit ? Legacy Jam Packs Work in GB v.10.x

    Hello,
I am running OSX 10.9.3 on a Mid Summer 2010 iMac , Prior I had installed Jam Pack One (non genre ) in the Version of Garageband (5.1)  that was installed on my iMac (and mine came with OSX 10.6.4 + 2 install disks, Operating System and Applications )  I updated from Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.9 to Maverick (Never installing or buying Lion or Mountain Lion ) I downloaded Gargeband Version 10 and its updates as well as the additional content
    for $4.99.
I read that MainStage 3 contains (beside its content ) the Apple Jam Packs but in 64 bit mode (and MainStage works
with Garageband V 10.x as well as Logic X . For the cost MainStage 3 appears a very reasonable price
( I do have 4 un opened Jam Packs Remix, Symphony, Rythmn and Voices (all but World Instruments )
I am mainly interested in the Virtual Instruments , more than loops (as well as AU, effects amps, pedals but can use real instruments as well Guitar-effects-amp-mic via Audio Interface Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
    But have read + and - comments on MainStage , I added ram (was 4GB now 12GB ) 4GB x 2 2GB x2
and plenty of HD space , dual core 3.06GHz . Just puzzled why the Jam Pack (I added to GB V 5.1 works (Virtual Instruments , under Legacy (and assuming the Jam Pack is 32 bit (When I bought it first was using it with a eMac
1.25GHz 1.0GB ram  , I considered adding one jam pack (Remix or Symphony) to GB 5.1 but would rather keep them sealed for potential sale down the road, I took off time recording, playing due to one spine surgery then two knee surgeries Thanks in advance ,

    Hangtime
Just a fyi, it WORKED ! No Error Message (other than some read files were not able to open, but installers ran
    just right !
I added 4 for 4 Apple Jam Packs Remix-Symphony -Rynthmn and Voices ! All from sealed boxes I had bought
awhile back from a Apple Reseller who annually or sometimes x2 has a online "Garage-Sale" Paid no where
what retail would have back in the day (I did buy Jam Pack 1 non-genre for full price , when using a e-Mac
and it was >$95.00 . These all tested and pull-show up under Legacy as did Jam Pack 1
Thanks for the advice , I was going to d-load and pay for MainStage 3.x but will not now

  • Installing old Jam Packs on new MacBook Pro

Hi. I recently migrated all my Garageband projects to a new i5 MacBook Pro. The Jampack software instruments have disappeared (and the Jampack manuals are covered with a no-entry type sign and a notice that says "Power PC software no longer supported"). I can see I still have my old Garageband loops, though.
    1. Is there any way to reinstall the software instruments from my old JamPack disks? My tracks really miss some of them.
    2. If so, will this mean I get additional copies of every loop? (Should I delete all the Jampack stuff from this Mac and just start reloading? Where are the loops stored on my Mac?)
    Thanks for your help!!

    1. I would try reinstalling the Jam Packs from the original disks. There are some incompatibilities and strangeness with the Jam Packs (which are no longer sold / supported), so it's a little hit or miss. However, I've been able to install jam packs on a new mac and, outside from strange error messages, have now been able to install them OK.
    2. I'm not sure, but I'd try moving the loops to another folder, then toss after a successful reinstall. To find the loops, go to your Disk -> Library and look in the application support folder (then GB) as well as the Audio (then Apple Loops) folder.
    3. Finally, if things get completely buggered, you could always fully delete GB and all of its bits and pieces, then reinstall GB and the Jam Packs from scratch.

  • Trying to install old Jam Packs on MacBook Air/Lion.

When I try to install my old Jam Pack, World Music, on MacBook Air, it fails at the last minute, giving infinite errors due to PListBuddy not being supported, necessitating a restart. Symphony and Orchestra worked fine. Anyone esle had the same problem or any luck fixing it? Thanks.

So Jam Pack is a bit peculiar. What you'll want to do is:
    1. Have the CD in the drive, and the file Install Jam Pack World Music in view.
    2. Right-click (control click) on the file, and select Show Package Contents.
    3. Open up the Contents folder.
    4. Open up the Installers folder.
    5. Find WorldMusic_Instruments_Tiger.pkg, and run the installation. You will get a few PListBuddy errors, but these can be closed, and the installation will finish.
    6. Find WorldMusic_Loops_Tiger.pkg, and do the same as step 5.
    You should be good!
    Other info:
Some errors I noticed: It said that the installer was "waiting for other installations to complete". Just open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities), and type: sudo killall installd
    Try installing again.

  • Keystation 49e toasted after installing Jam Pack

I have an M-audio Keystation 49e that I have used mostly for music composition using my iBook and a nice shareware program, Melody Assistant. Lately my son has been using the keyboard a lot for composition on an iMac using GargageBand. He has been desperate for a JamPack to get better souunds, so I got him the Orchestral JamPack for his Birthday yesterday. The sounds are indeed excellent. However, a little while (~30 min) after installing the JamPack, the keyboard stopped working, first intermittently, like when changing an instrument, then completely. No sound, no indicator lights, nothing getting recorded. Thinking it was a driver problem, I installed the latest M-audio driver I could find (3.1) but no dice. Hoping to debug the issue, I plugged the keyboard into my iBook and now it doesn't work there either! When I try to use Melody Assistant, a weird error message comes up saying "An OS X midi driver has been recognized but gives do information about output destination." I tried our other iMac (without the new JamPack installed), and it doesn't work there either. Looking at the USB section under "About this Mac", the keyboard is being recognized correctly, but it does not seem to be able to send notes to any program on any of our macs. It seems like installing the JamPack has somehow broken the keyboard, but I have no idea how this could be or what to do about it. Any suggestions appreciated!
Intel imac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The M-Audio driver is irrelevant: it is used to recognize extra controls on the more advanced keyboards. The 49e does not require a driver.
Since the keyboard doesn't work on another computer either it seems unlikely that the Jam Pack has got anything to do with it. I would suspect a hardware fault in the keyboard or the lead. Try replacing the USB lead first, then if that doesn't help you may need to see if you can get a repair.

  • Trouble installing Jam Pack #1 (the original)?

Also posted in Logic but it also makes sense to post here unless there are rules against cross-posting.
Recently doing a migration from a PPC to a Mac Pro.
Anyway, I was trying to reinstall Jam Pack 1 (the original Jam Pack) to use with Logic Pro. I was also planning on using it in Garageband.
When I tried to install, I kept getting the error "Installation cannot continue until the GarageBand application is installed." But it was installed.
Did a bit of digging. Found this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1989594&#1989594
Which led me to examine my directory structure in the Applications Folder. Turns out I had moved Garageband into a subfolder and the installer wasn't able to find it. I just moved it back to its normal spot and the installer was happy.
I hope this helps someone else.

also applies to the 1.01 update found here:

  • Installing jam packs from DVD on Lion

When I got my new iMac last year it came with Snow Leopard. At the time, I attempted to install all my jam packs (I have all of them) and it gave me an error that Rosetta was not installed. After installing it, I was able to install my jam packs, which i use with GarageBand and Logic Express.
I hear that Lion no longer supports Rosetta. Anyone know how to install the jam packs? Can I copy the jam pack folder to an external drive and then copy them back? Seems like the installation is a "package", which may not work if I don't run it from the install DVDs.
    Thanks

If you install Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion on top of your Snow Leopard, then the Jam Packs will will continue to work. If you make a clean install of Lion, then you will have a problem with the installers, for Lion does not support Rosetta. Then the best you can do will be to restore the library folders containing the Apple Loops and the Instruments Library from your (Time Machine) Backup.
        /Library/Audio/Apple Loops
       /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops
       /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library
For a clean install you might consider to invest into purchasing MainStage 2 - it is much cheaper than any of the Jam Packs ever has been, but will install all the JamPacks to be used with GarageBand and Logic.
