Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra

Has anyone experienced difficulty installing a Jam Pack (Symphony Orchestra)? My Logic Express recognizes the loops in the loops browser, but the software instruments do not appear. I have loaded it twice, updated my version of LE...any suggestions?

HI,
I think this may be a bug. You have to change the channel in of the mod wheel or foot pedal or whatever to channel four I think it is from your midi keyboard and then it will control stacatto and legato etc. - this is different from in Garageband. If this doesn't work do a search on one of the key words and the answer should come up.
Good luck,

  • Jam Pack: Symphony Orchestra not working on new iMac with Maverick

    Hi,
i received my new iMac 27 inch Haswell with Maverick installed.
I migrated most of the stuff i need but it seems the Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack instruments weren't migrated to Garageband.
Now i read somehwere that this JamPack doesn't work on Maverick.
Is there a way to download the Jam Pack again? I can't find them anywhere. Why doesn't Apple sell these in the store?
I can't try to install the JamPack again since i don't have a CD Rom drive in my iMac...
How can i restore these instruments on my Garageband?? I need them.
    Thanx

MainStage is for setting up a live performance and performing music.  It has many instruments and effects. GarageBand is for mixing song arrangements and creating finished songs.
I have never really used MainStage, just for playing my guitar. I bought it to get current installers for the JamPacks.
After you install MainStage, you need to open and run it at least once, to download the full set of instruments and loops.
This will bring up this panel:

  • Where can i download jam pack 4 (orchestral sounds) for garageband 6.0.5. please.   I have an air book maverick OSX 10.9.4.   Thanks

Where can i download jam pack 4 (orchestral sounds) for garageband 6.0.5. please.   I have an air book maverick OSX 10.9.4.   Thanks

This JamPack is no longer sold separately by Apple. You could search for the boxed retail version of the JamPack at eBay or Amazon.
But it is much more economic to install MainStage 3 instead. You can buy it at the Mac App Store. MainStage 3 will install all five JamPacks for a price much less than the price of a single JamPack used to be. Afterwards the JamPacks will work with Logic and GarageBAnd as well.
Just launch MainStage after installing and use the command "MainStage > Download additional content" and select the JamPacks you want to install.

  • LE 8 doesn't see all of my installed Jam Packs

Just setting up a new mac. I installed all the Jam Packs. After that I brought up Garageband and when I click on "Loops" it show the following list. I did notice that when Garage Band came up, it indicated that it was searching for Jam Packs...
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Rhythm Section
    Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
I then installed Logic Express 8. I launched it and when I click on "Loops", I'm missing 2 of the Jam Packs. I only see:
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
Can I drag the missing Jam Packs on to Logic? I don't want to make copies, just want them to be seen there.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

One more observation. I tried dragging just one file over from the Orchestra folder (Academy Cello 01). I then searched for it and found it. I then searched for "Academy Viola 01", but it didn't find it. I ended up dragging over the set of 5 Academy sounds and now if I search for just "Academy" to all show up in the search results. The only bad thing is I don't actually see the "Symphony Orchestra" pack in the list. I guess I can live with that, but it would be nice to see them all there, just so I know which ones I have. Dumb, I know...
If you know of any other way, please let me know.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Jam pack strings poor sound

    Hello,
    2 questions.
    1) Why is it that when I assign the JamPack violin sound to a track another track with the same name appears in the list? I seem to remember reading some where that some of these sounds are stereo and require two tracks though it seems to make no difference to the sound if I delete one of the two.
    2) The sound itself is lacking depth and is scratchy. I find it hard to believe that this is the sound that the engineers intended. It seems like I'm only getting part of the sound. It's the same with all the string sounds. Can this be so?
    Thanks, Julian

Ah, I see you are on 7. It may well be different. Anyway, I've just installed "Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra" myself, & obviously I'm not getting this behaviour, although that isn't surprising given the differences.
I need to know exactly +how & where+ you installed your Jam Pack constituent parts, since this is a very well-known bone of contention. If everything just went where the installer suggested it should go, then that's not the issue (although it means your boot drive now has loads of 'stuff' on it).
However, if you made different choices, or moved stuff yourself, then I suggest you read this discussion (especially towards the end) & then get back: [Make Room!|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2026399&tstart=0]
You should also know that installing Jam Packs can result in previously-installed material being deleted. There's a warning about that in the installer Read-Me.

  • EXS24 and Orchestra Jam Pack issue

This is making me crazy: I'm setting up a Logic template to use for orchestral pieces. I'm switching all the instruments to the EXS24 so I can have more control over sample playback, especially restricting instruments to their playable ranges.
Right now, I can use the Mod wheel to swap between different playing styles (legato/staccatto, for example). If I switch to the EXS24, the appropriate samples load automatically and everything works fine. If I go into the EXS24 and change the sample ranges, everything works fine for a while. BUT, when I save my project and reopen it, suddenly the mod wheel has no effect. No sample swapping.
I've checked all the parameters I can find and nothing else has changed. All I've done is change the sample range for the low and high samples. I tried it again with a completely new file and the same thing happened.
Anyone have any ideas? It's really baffling.
(I know that the output for each orchestra instrument has to be Bus 11. Not sure why this is, but it definitely effects the mod wheel function. Maybe this has something to do with it?)
    Thanks.

Read the chapter in the "What's New in Logic Pro 7.1.pdf" (7.2), Plugins -> EXS24, that explains this:
"Remapping of Pitch Bend and Modulation Wheel events
In order to create realistic-sounding performances in an easy and intuitive way, the Jam Pack 4 (Symphony Orchestra) Instruments use the modulation wheel to switch between articulations (legato, staccato, and so on) and the pitch bend wheel to change expression (crescendo, diminuendo, and so on). Further information about this can be found in the Jam Pack 4 documentation.
This is achieved by internally remapping pitch bend events to MIDI controller 4 and modulation wheel events to MIDI controller 11. To ensure compatibility with the Jam Pack 4 instruments, the EXS24 mkII now uses this remapping behavior for all instruments that use controller 4 to switch between groups.
Please note that this new remapping model is also valid for user-built instruments. If you use controller 4 to switch between groups, the EXS24 mkII will remap incoming pitch bend and mod wheel events to controller 4 or controller 11, respectively. The default pitch bend and modulation wheel functionality can not be used. If you don’t want to use this remapping model, select a different controller number for group switching. "

  • Problem with Jam Pack 4: Symphony installation

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could possibly help me with this problem I have.
I just bought a Intel duo core Mac mini and I wanted to install my Jam Pack 4 onto Garageband. During the installation, there is no problem. It finishes and says the installation was successful. But when I open Garageband none of the stuff from Jam Pack 4 is accessible. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Thanks!

The only thought that comes to mind right away is that one of the display filters is active. Let's take the loops. At the top of the loop browser there is a kind of hidden popup menu, there are a pair of arrows, one up and one down. Click it and make sure "Show All" is selected.

  • Can't see Jam Pack Loops in Logic Studio Browser

I have searched many other forums but can't find the same problem. Usually it relates to a separate disk for loops.
I have Garageband and 4 Jam packs installed on my computer (Dual G5 latest OSX up to date). Jam pack 1, Rhythm Section, Symphony Orchestra and something else... anyway I purchased Logic Studio (8) and installed that. During installation I noticed that it detected that I already had some of the Jam Pack loops on my drive so they were "unchecked" automatically and therefore didn't install. Now when I look in the loop browser only the Jam Packs that Logic did install are viewable in my loop browser. Yet the other jam packs are indeed viewable in Garageband. All of this is installed on a single internal drive that is the system drive (500GB) by the way. So I dragged the Jam Pack folders to the logic loop browser and it appeared to be adding the loops, but they are still not visible there.
Also, there is no dialogue box that appears to ask if I want to copy them or leave in current location as many other users have said it should ask. maybe that's because it's all on one drive though.
The other concern is that I wonder if the software instruments that come with the jam packs would be installed/available in Logic? Surely not, if I am just adding the loops to the browser. How do I ensure that I have access to all of the loops and all of the software instruments?
Can anyone please help with this, it would be much appreciated.

    Hi Jaffles,
The best thing to doo is go to the various "Apple Loops Index" folders, remove all the index files that are in there and then reindex your loops by dragging them into the loop Browser. The index files will then be rebuilt.
    regards, Erik.

  • Lost access to Jam Pack instruments after migration to new macbook pro

I just migrated to a Macbook Pro and now all the instruments from my Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack are no longer available. I was also getting a message "Native Instruments Installation Folder not found" but after copying the instrument files into the Sampler Instruments from my old macbook to the new one, that went away, but I still don't have access in Finale to those instruments.
There's still no "Native Instruments Installation Folder" that I know of, but the message no longer appears.
Are these instruments no longer available in the new Garageband? This is a bit frustrating.

I FIXED IT!!! After AppleCare told me it couldn't be done...
I've been searching for hours online and couldn't find this anywhere, so hopefully someone with this challenge will stumble upon this.
    A clue was here: http://www.techvide.com/apple/install-jam-pack-on-mac-os-x-lion
but this didn't correctly describe my issue with an early version of Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra
    What I did:
    1. Insert Jam Pack DVD 1
    2. ctrl-click Install Jam Pack 4 - Show original
    3. double-click JamPack4_Instruments.pkg
    4. You'll get some Power-PC Not Compatible with Lion warnings (only a few compared with the almost infinite number if you try standard install)
Instruments now appear and work just fine in garageband. <big sigh>
I wish AppleCare would know this, and I hope someone is planning on continuing supporting these Garageband instruments.

  • Trying to install old Jam Packs on MacBook Air/Lion.

When I try to install my old Jam Pack, World Music, on MacBook Air, it fails at the last minute, giving infinite errors due to PListBuddy not being supported, necessitating a restart. Symphony and Orchestra worked fine. Anyone esle had the same problem or any luck fixing it? Thanks.

So Jam Pack is a bit peculiar. What you'll want to do is:
    1. Have the CD in the drive, and the file Install Jam Pack World Music in view.
    2. Right-click (control click) on the file, and select Show Package Contents.
    3. Open up the Contents folder.
    4. Open up the Installers folder.
    5. Find WorldMusic_Instruments_Tiger.pkg, and run the installation. You will get a few PListBuddy errors, but these can be closed, and the installation will finish.
    6. Find WorldMusic_Loops_Tiger.pkg, and do the same as step 5.
    You should be good!
    Other info:
Some errors I noticed: It said that the installer was "waiting for other installations to complete". Just open Terminal (Applications -> Utilities), and type: sudo killall installd
    Try installing again.

  • Loading Jam Packs on Macbook Air without CD drive

Since my Macbook Air (with Lion) doesn't have a cd drive, I recreated the Jam Pack directories in my Macbook Air exactly as they appear on my iMac (with Lion), and copied and pasted the Jam Pack folders/files from my iMac to my MacBook Air using an external hard drive to do the transfer.  Here is where I put the Jam Pack folders/files on my MacBook Air:
Jam Pack - 4 Symphony Orchestra and Jam Pack World Music:
Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple> (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Audio>>Apple Loops Index> (for the Index files)
    Jam Packs 2 and 3:
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops Index (for the Index files)
However, when I fire up Garage Band, it still doesn't see the Jam Packs.  Can anyone tell me why, and what I might do about it?
    Thanks,
    tkaba

You also do need the Instruments Library; otherwise the instruments to play the loops will be missing:
The Instruments Library is located in
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
Ssee what else from  /Library/Application Support/GarageBand you may need, also from the corresponding files in your user library.
To reindex your loops properly, reveal the Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops files in the Finder, launch GarageBand,  and drag the loops  into your GarageBand Window, directly onto the Lopp Browser. Do that for all Loop Folders in your User Library.

  • Please help... jam packs not working with logic express 8

my jam packs do not work. i go to the library tab, open one of the jam packs category, "Symphony Orchestra" for example. i choose an instrument folder ("strings" for example), and then an instrument. a window pops up and says "File not found... Result code = -43". What does this mean? What can i do to fix it?
You my also know that the jam packs work fine in Garage Band.

    Hi,
on a UNIX based system, every file has it's own set of permissions who own it, who can read it or who can write to it. Sometimes, things get corrupted (often during an install or update, when administrator rights are used or not used....)
However: Open the Harddisk Utility in the Applications/Utilities Folder. Select your Harddisk and klick on "repair permissions". Wait for some minutes (takes some time).
You should do this not only now, but before and after every major update/change to your system.
The next step, if this doesn't work, would be to manually locate the files EXS24 is missing, but for this better ask someone in the Logic Pro forum.

  • A question about Jam Pack language

    Hi there,
This may be a silly question, but I figure I had better ask it, because when a software package is opened, you own it, right?
I live in Germany, and I was in the local Mac dealer's, looking at the Jam Packs. I want the Symphony Orchestra pack, but was told that the version they had on hand in the shop was only in German. As my OS is in English (as is my version of Logic Express) will my computer have any problem reading and categorizing the Audio Instruments and loops if they are auf Deutsch? I don't want to open up the pack only to find that the Loop Browser can't categorize the instruments/loops, and then not get my money back.
OTOH, a large-ish online music store here in Germany sells the Jam Packs, and gives the same product number on their German and English pages for the same item. This makes me wonder whether or not the Jam Pack will install in the language of one's OS, and that only the documentation is only in German.
Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
    Many Thanks!
    Vielen Dank!
    Glenn

The pianos do sound very nice, although I can't justify €250.00 on that right now. I still need to get a RME FF400, and a FW HDD.
Oh, and probably EZ Drummer, as well, unless someone has had an ugly experience with it.
Oh, and Logic Pro down the road, too.
I keep telling my wife that 'this is the last thing for a while, I promise!'
Something tells me that I had better keep that promise...
    Cheers,
    Glenn

  • Find Remix Jam Pack loops not labeled by Genre in loop browser?

I've got all four Apple Jam Packs installed.
The World and Symphony jam packs are great, as I can locate the loops in the loop browser by Genre.
But the Rhythym and Remix jam packs don't seem to be labeled by Genre.
How can I identify them? There are way too many to just look and see what seems to be new or find them by trial and error.
Even the EXS24 instruments had to be moved to separate folders by hand to separate them from the other Garage Band instruments (but I could separate them from the others by date, so I figured out a way).
Frustrating to have installed a new product, and be unable to find it!

    Hi Les,
I haven't used the loop browser much in Logic, but I know that it is very similar to the one in Garageband. If it's pretty much the same browser, then there will be a way to filter your search by "packages." For example, you can select the Remix jam pack and select loops just from it's collection.
I'm not on my Logic computer, so I'll test this later...

  • Getting a file not found error with jam pack instruments

Since Logic Express no longer works with the current Mac OS X versions, I'm trying to get used to using GarageBand again while I save up to buy the full Logic Package.  I had purchased all of the jam packs years ago and recently also purchased Main Stage.  Now, when I go to use, for example, an instrument from the Orchestral jam pack, I get a message saying "EXS24 instrument “Cellos.exs”: Audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav” not found!" with the option to continue or search again.  Clicking "search again" always ends up with the same message.  This is driving me nuts!  Pretty ****** off right now that I can't use what I paid money for.  Isn't this stuff supposed to "just work"?  Or did that die with Steve Jobs?

same Problem: Working with OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro Santa Rosa and Logic Pro: Its not possible to use the cello.exs 'cos missing audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav”, same problem with Basses.exs (missing KB-L_legato_f_A#1.wav) and the  Piano. All this broken Instruments are from the Jam pack Orchestra Library.
