Posting Guidelines
· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:
$ convert -resize 250x250 screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
Sizes Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies. For bigger sizes (and especially for multi-monitor setups), we ask you to keep in mind not everyone uses broadband, and use an even smaller size (10% of a Full HD setup will still be 192x180, for example). NOTE: Anything wider than 250px or over 50Kb in size will be removed.
You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. If this problem occurs again, I will simply stop buying your products, and lose faith in your company, your's sincerely, Jack Maher.

This is a user to user help forum only. You are not addressing Apple here.
My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.

  • Mac mini bought January 2013 with Samsung 712N S monitor

    Hello,
I bought a Mac Mini in January 2013 and I am trying to make it work with my old Samsung monitor 712N S, I bought also the minidisplay port to vga adapter.
The problem is that the monitor won´t work, just black, no sign of connection.  I checked the mac mini with my tv through hdmi and works perfect.
Any idea how can I make it work?
    Thanks a lot.

Check the monitor with another video source. Be sure it's working. If it is working, then you've isolated the problem to either the cable or VGA adapter, or the Mini itself.

  • Price Changes from 5 January 2013

BT Broadband Option 1 increases from £17.80 to £18.85
BT Broadband Option 2 increases from £22.50 to £23.80
BT Broadband Option 3 increases from £26.80 to £28.35
BT Infinity Option 1 increases from £21.00 to £22.20
BT Infinity Option 2 increases from £26.80 to £28.35
The standard line rental price increases from £14.60 to £15.45
The Unlimited Anytime Plan increases from £4.90 to £5.15.
What if I'm unhappy with the price changes?
We're sorry you're are unhappy about how the price rises affect you and would rather that you stayed with BT as we believe we offer fantastic services and products. We've kept a number of our key prices frozen since December 2011 and will be freezing many of our prices again from the 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest. However if you contact us directly within 10 calendar days of receiving our price change notification you may cease your services without penalty.
Well I for 1can not afford to pay anymore than what I'm paying so I'm off.

    It's lunacy.
Just had "the email" myself and I'm wondering just how many millions BT must have spent in their fight with SKY for advertising that customers come to BT for phone, broadband and vision and how many, including me, will be staying.
I can't afford these price hikes.  We are in a recession in the UK - or hasn't BT noticed?
Going to have to change provider.  Shame on BT to them and to the customers who have already been paying a lot more than the competions prices - and I wonder how they will explain the (massive) migration from BT to other providers in January to the shareholders
I am going to apply for my MAC in December, so I am not in the pile up!

  • Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2013

    Hi all,
    11.2.0.3
Oracle Critical Patch Update - January 2013
I am confused about CPU, PSU, SPU, USP. I am reading the docs and it seems they are same thing being rambled?
Which of them is the most important to apply?
    Thanks,
    PetraK

    Thanks gotti and fahd
I already ask the support and he gave me docs to follow. But the more I am confused with lots of added process.
Can you validate if the process is correct? My Goal is just to comply with our IT Sec Auditor to apply the latest patch. The auditor does not even know what is the name of the patch as long as it the current updates. So I think he is referring to PSU or SPU or CPU.
This is the process I got from support:
1 Appy Oracle Database Patch Set Update (11.2.0.3.8)
1.1 Download and install latest RDA and run and send the output.
1.2 Download and install latest OPatch and list the current inventory.
        1.3 Check java version
1.4 Check and Resolve PSU conflict
1.5 Backup the current OracleHome as "root"
1.6 Stop Listener, EM, and all DB Instances
        1.7 Apply PSU
        1.8 Resolve errors if any.
    End.
So It seems I only need to apply PSU? which is 11.2.0.3.8?

  • Waiting since January 2013

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get a reasonable answer in understanding why it has taken since January to sort out, what should have been a simple home move service, to quite possibly the most frustrating 4 months ever!
Back in January (2013) I was a sky TV/line/broadband customer looking forward to moving into my new home (early March). I was informed that whilst the TV could be setup easy enough, the BT Openreach engineers reported back that there was no line available for telephone or broadband.
I carried on with the SKY TV move and decided that just before the move I would be called back to re-arrange the Broadband and telephone line once the 'engineer' could test connection at the property.
March 8th - move in date ... no engineer
I received multiple emails and text messages to make sure I was present at the property but yet no engineer turned up - not even a courtesy call to say that there may/may not be a delay.
I eventually get through to the service desk who inform me that there is a delay on the installation and to expect an update / further installation on the 8th April
8th April arrives - no engineer - again I receive multiple emails/text messages making sure I'm in for the engineer to visit.
I contact Sky, who then advise that I am going to have to wait until around 26th June before another assessment can take place.
You may be asking yourself, "isn't this Sky's fault".  That's what I thought initially but then it became more and more obvious that the delay was on the BT Openreach/infinity engineers.
I thought to myself, maybe it's because I'm a SKY customer so priority would be set as low.  So ... I contacted BT signed up as a new customer and had an install date for a week later .. 16th April.
I cancelled the SKY order (but kept the TV package) so that I could progress my "faster installation date with BT"
April 16th arrives ... Guess what .... No engineer AGAIN!
I phoned all morning listening to the automated call - type in my home number and get the standard message of "your engineer will be on-site at your property today blah blah blah between the hours of 8am and 1pm"
I thought great - no delay, nothing to worry about.
13:05hrs - I thought I'd try the update again ... "we're sorry there's a delay and if you have not heard from us already, you should receive a call soon" - I never did - it took me to telephone back to request an update.
Apparently my order has been escalated and I should hear from an engineers asap .... in the next 24 hours... maybe 48 hours.
Today ... I have been back in touch with the BT service desk today and have been told that the service desk will receive an update on the line around the 19th ... possibly 20th April.  From there I can expect an installation date around the 26th April.
Can someone please tell me why not one single engineer has turned up at my property to assess the situation or better still install my telephone line and bt infiinity on any of the 3 occasions (yet one engineer visitied my neighbout the other day and said it'd be a 15 mins job, "just can't do it as it's not on my job list") !!!!
Thanks ... waiting in anticipation for a helpful response whilst using up all my 3G download limits and friend's/family broadband useage

I don't think you will get a helpful response here.
    1. This is a forum for BT customers, and you're not.
    2. Your problem is with Openreach.  They may be owned by BT Group, but no-one here has any control over them.
Your contract is with Sky - it's up to them to get it sorted.

  • HT4007 Hi there, I was sent here to try to troubleshoot the issues I am having with my Iphone 5. I purchased this phone in January 2013,

Hi there, I was sent here to try to troubleshoot the issues I am having with my Iphone 5. I purchased this phone in January 2013,
I have had issues with battery life almost from the start. I can have the battery charged fully and send a two word text and have the battery life decrease by at least 5%. When I called apple support, I was on the phone for 12 minutes and the battery went down 10% in that time.
The screen often freezes and won't let me scroll through the apps.
The phone often times won't turn on either.
I was directed to apple support online to try to remedy these issues and am having quite a bit of difficulty with the site, it's very frustrating.
I was told that it was a hardware issue by the Bell store I purchased the phone from, but the apple support telephone operator said I had to go through the online trouble shooting steps first.
Can someone walk me through this as I seem to keep getting booted out, cannot find the troubleshooting steps I was told about.
    Thanks, Bethanie.

    start by a reset
then a Restore with back up and if required as new

  • Does Microsoft Office 2008 work on a Macbook air that I bought January 2013?

I have an old mac and wanted to transfer microsoft office across to my new one but i've read that version 2008 might not work.
I don't want to use migration assistant if it isn't going to work as it's pointless.
I bought my macbook air this January (2013).

Migration Assistant will create a new user with the files transferred from an older computer. As you only want to transfer applications, if you select only applications to be transferred, no user will be created. However, if you can, I think that the best way is to install Office from the DVD, buying an external optical drive for your Mac or using Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5287

Sorry to hear your receiver isn't functioning properly! I can imagine how anxious you must feel to have it up and running again as soon as possible.
Under normal circumstances, customers are generally able to print duplicate order confirmations pages by simply signing into their BestBuy.com account. As Derek explained in this thread, however, the ability to view purchase history on BestBuy.com has been temporarily limited to 90 days. I've sent you some information, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can.

    Happy New Year!!
The window manager is a pet project of mine. I wanted to see if I could make a WM in freepascal
It lacks alot of functions, but it is coming along slowly.
The background I made in Gimp. I made a 1280x1024 black image and pasted one of cerise's images from this thread into it.

  • Email Notification Glitch || Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS || ongoing as of 17 January 2013

For the past  past week or so my Droid 4 has been repeatedly and continually (non-stop!) providing "new" Email notifications when I have none whatsoever, or only one new mail. The notification I receive is that I have hundreds of new mails when either one or no new mails have delivered to my mail account (for reference, hundreds of notifications per hour). Not only that, but when I open the new mails I cannot access the contents of the mail I have received, and there are always at least three to five duplicates of each "new" mail, sometimes more.
I have researched this issue via Google Search: Droid4, ICS and Android help communities and sites and now on this forum. I have attempted to troubleshoot to rectify the issue by disabling my Email notifications, powering down the device, powering-up again, then re-enabling my Email notifications, all to no avail. If I receive no resolution here @VerizonWireless Community, my next course of action will be to enter the same information and request for assistance w/Motorola.
In my research on this topic I did find the Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS rollout documentation, which was no help to me for this particular issue, but from which I did learn some neat things about that software version which I'd not previously known and which were helpful to me in other ways. That file is linked below as well as the attached .pdf file in hopes that it might be of help to others.
I would most certainly appreciate any and all help and/or suggestions from anyone here at the Verizon Community.
Thanks so much and kindest regards,

I disabled my Email alerts and enabled gmail alerts because I couldn't stand it anymore... still hope someone here can help me, though because I very much dislike using the gmail platform on my Droid4.
I'm uploading screenshots of examples of multiple instances showing of one actual new mail and of what I see when I open a new mail... which is nothing in the body of the mail.
    Multiple instances of some mails:
    Email body blank when opened:
Thanks all! I appreciate any help or suggestions anyone may be able to provide.

Hey!! It's emacs and I'm using this sick plugin.
That's awesome, thanks for sharing. I'm a vim user, but am going to start working through Practical Common Lisp pretty soon so I might give emacs and that plugin a try!
