January Software-Downgrade-able?

Hey guys, I have a quick question about downgrading your firmware with the January '08 software.
I bought the January '08 upgrade on my iPod Touch recently and I would like to know if it's possible to downgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and be able to re-install the upgrade back onto my iPod Touch once upgraded back to 1.1.4 without having to re-buy it. Or will the software still stay on, even though it's been downgraded. Anybody know anything about this?

Yah, a suspicious mind would think about that. But lately I've had a problem when getting the new firmware. I'll download it and try to sync. Then it will go into recovery mode for no reason that I can see. So if that happened again, I would want to know if I would have to re-buy the software. 1.1.3 has had a lot of problems for me. So if 1.1.4 starts acting up I might need to downgrade back to 1.1.2 (The FW that I got with my iPod Touch)
Oh yah, also, I couldn't go back to 1.1.1 because I don't have that firmware.

  • Lost January Software Update, how do I get it back?

Hey ya'll, im new to apple and its products, only be an apple user for 7 months, and am still planning on getting the new iPhone and Macbook Air when I get more money, lol. But, for now, only product i have is iPod Touch, and I just had this problem happen to me and dont know how to fix it. I just scrolled it from an email i sent to their support. Hope you guys can help me fix it.
    Thanks
"Hello. I am really confused now, so Ill just get right to it. Last night, when I hooked up my iPod Touch to my computer, my computer first recgnized it, however, when I went to my iPod no movies or no songs were on there. I unpluged it, pluged it back in. Then it says your iPod cannot be recognized, and so I had to format my entire iPod Touch, losing all my settings, and the 2008 January Software Update that I paid $19.99 for. So then, I go back into my iTunes account, after restoring it, and re-syncing all my songs and videos back to the iPod, and it says that I never paid for the January Update ($19.99), which I did, and 3 Metallica songs ($0.99/ea) that I purchased that same day. So then I go and try to put my credit info back on, to "pay" it off again, and it wouldnt let me, and said something about enter a vaild security code, which i did (the 3 numbers on back of credit card at the end in a box), numerous times. I would like to know how do I get my january oftware Upgrade back, as well as my 3 songs I purchased in January 2008."

First, see if the update is gone, or not being utilized:
The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.
    The file is located here:
    Mac OS X:
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
    Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Now, if you can't get this to install, you can try to set your Touch to automatically sync instead of manually sync.
If that doesn't do it, login to your iTunes store account within iTunes, goto your account, and select "report problem"
They should be able to help you with the downloads and the update from there.

  • January Software Upgrade - Availability outside the iTunes Store countries

I have (an iPod Touch) model number that should receive a free January Software Upgrade as stated in the Apple Price Protection Policy.
Mention that it was bought in the European Union, France, while I was on vacation. However I don't see an option to upgrade in iTunes without being asked for an iTunes Store country credit card. I currently reside in Romania(which is also part of the E.U.).
I searched the support pages and I didn't a Apple customer support email address to send my complaint to.
How can I receive the upgrade? Is this upgrade limited to ITNS countries?

I had thought not, but I tried last week after a discussion with someone from Apple (Asia Pacific). I had earlier bought the QuickTime Pro licence but that was with help, so I registered at the Hong Kong online store and bought the licence for Aperture 2. As for hardware, as far as I am aware, No.
For me as well, the country I am in does not have an Apple online store (or an Apple store come to that) and the distribution system is somewhat different. Those who wish to be "in the loop" use a franchise system -- iStudio and iBeat.
I would hope that the Apps Store would take a different route. Some friends here do have credit cards issued in other (acceptable) countries and they are able to buy from iTunes stores. I have been here so long that all my credit cards are Thai issued -- fine when I go to San Francisco or London; fine with the online Apple shop; fine with music purchases from a number of sources in the US; but not for iTMS. I can sort of accept restrictions on the music and videos (try the BBC for tight-a** behaviour), but the iPod touch software burns.

  • Upgrading to 1.1.4 and losing January Software Upgrade

    Hi,
I've just upgraded my 16GB iTouch to 1.1.4
Unfortunately, when I did, it lost the January Software Upgrade.
I not longer have the laptop that I used to install the Software update, so I don't have my own copy of "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa".
I tried to use my friends copy of the file, but it's not letting me install it.
I keep getting "The iPod touch Software Upgrade was not installed on this iPod "iTouch" because you are not authorized for it on this computer"
I've verified that I'm logged in with my apple ID, but I think the ipa file is tied to my friends account.
Is there any way that I can download a new ipa file for my account? or is there anything else that I'm missing?
I've no way of getting the computer back.
    missing my mail already
    thanks,
    Stephen.

perhaps the only way you will be able to get it back now is to send an email to apple support explaining your situation. i would also check your purchase history and provide them with the order number from when you purchased the upgrade. i am pretty sure they will allow you to have it again. they will put it in your account and you will have to click the "check for purchases" option in itunes to download it.

  • FAQ: Will my Elements 11 software be able to automatically sync and back up files to Revel?

Q: Will my Elements software be able to automatically sync and back up files to Revel?
A: Revel offers easy publishing from Elements to the iOS platform and the web. We look forward to adding more automated features in the future.
Elements 11 is integrated with Revel, so you can share your photos to Revel for access on the web and across your mobile devices.
You can also view "Working with Adobe Revel" on Adobe TV.
With Photoshop Elements 11 you can import photos directly from Revel for editing and creating, and you can share photos from your Elements 11 Organizer to AdobeRevel.com. By Selecting from the File menu "Import from Adobe Revel" or "Export to Adobe Revel"
Just as before, you can share via email or upload your media directly to Facebook, Flickr, YouTube™, and other popular sharing sites and now you can share photos to Adobe Revel. Just click the Adobe Revel icon at the bottom of the list to upload your photos.

Yes all your files are in your Time Machine backup. If you never used Time Machine your files are probably gone for good. Especially if you can't get the system to boot up. It is very hard to retrieve files from a SSD.
Once a Mac reports No Hardware Installed for some piece of built in hardware, like the WiFi card, usually that is caused by the failure of that piece of hardware. The only way to fix that is to replace that piece of hardware.

I have no idea why this has happend ive been using the phone for 2years bought it on pay as you go and now all of a sudden its stating the above error i have never come across this problem before and currently im using 3GS and Iphone 4S

    Sounds like it's been blacklisted.
Even if it hasn't, downgrading voids any warranty and forfeits all rights to support. You hacked your phone. You can't get help here.

  • Can I purchase the January software upgrade with an iTunes gift card?

    Hey guys,
I have an iTunes account, but do not have a credit card on file. I have always just used gift cards to buy music. My question is: Can I use a $20 gift card to purchase the January software upgrade for the iPod touch?
    Thanks!

    Hey!
Yeah so long as your credit is monetary and not songs in your iTMS account then you should be fine.
I used up the remainder of a £25 gift card to purchase my update.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Unable to purchase January software update

I upgraded to 1.1.4 and got the prompt to purchase the upgrade, I clicked don't remind me at the time (by accident). Now I want to purchase it and I cannot find the buy button or does not show up when I repeat the steps outlined in the troubleshooting guide. Is there a way to enable that button again. When I click ok at the bottom of the software upgrade page it takes me to my home iTunes store, where I cannot purchase or find how to purchase the software.
    Help please!!!

    Hey Abake,
You can download the iPod touch January Software Upgrade sing this link:

  • Unable to reinstall January Software Update

I recently had to move to a new Mac after installing the January Software Update on the Touch. After ensuring I had all the songs and other content from the old machine I restored the iPod Touch wanting to rebuild all songs etc. from scratch. However, the January Software Update is gone, and I don't find out how to reinstall it.
I have read the support notes that automatically shows up, and checked that I have all the other updates and versions needed.
Every time I access the iTunes Store I am reminded that I can buy the update, but I already did. When I access my account (the same account I used to buy the update - I have only one), I see the purchase in the purchase history, but there is no obvious way to redownload it (the old download was on the old machine). So, I even tried to buy it again, but then the clever shop tells me I have already bought it and gives me no way to buy it again, redownload it or reinstall it. So I'm stuck. I cannot buy it. I cannot redownload it and I cannot reinstall it.
Has anyone an idea for a workaround?
    Toralf

The files are on your old Mac.
    See this:
The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.
    The file is located here:
    Mac OS X:
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
    Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Once you have copied the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file to the computer with your home library, make a new folder named Mobile Applications in the correct location, and place the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file there. Open iTunes and sync your iPod touch.

  • Can't Get January Software Upgrades

Ok so I just bought this iPod Touch from my cousin a few days ago. I wanted to get the software upgrades but I don't know how.
I went to http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ and clicked on the icon on the bottom left that states "Have an iPod Touch without the new software? Five new applications for just $19.99. Get the January Software Upgrade."
It then opened up my iTunes and went to some iPod touch January Software Upgrade page.
There is no "Buy Now" button just a button on the bottom right saying "OK" but it doesn't do anything...
I have the latest iTunes and software version 1.1.4
    someone help please...

  • Cannot download the January Software upgrade

Frustrating....i click on the January software upgrade, yes iTunes and iPod Touch are the latest, it takes me to the page where you click ok, that gets me to the store, and yes I have an account, and then i click on the JSU, and it brings me back to the OK page, anyone any suggestions as to how I can get this upgrade to my iPod Touch? thanks, e_moma

I got exactly the same problem :
I go to the itunes store, click on the "January update" button --> it leads me to the presentation page of the update, with only a "ok" button at the bottom --> I click on it, and it brings me back to the itunes store... that's all... And I can try again and again, it's a very beautiful infernal loop :-D
I precise that itunes is 7.6, iPod touch is 1.1.3
I register my iPod few days ago when I bought it, so I cannot do it again (or I do not know how to do...)
Does anybody have a solution ?

  • Impossible to get January Software Upgrade?

Is it really impossible to get the January Software Upgrade if I don't reside in a country with an iTunes store?

    Hi Firewhisky,
    Actually it is. Sorry!
However, if you have any friend that resides in one of those countries, and you visit him, I think it would be a great chance to get it on your iPod!
    Hope this helps!

  • Cannot Get January Software Upgrade To Install

I am unable to install the January Software upgrade on my iPod Touch. I have have reset it multiple times, and tried all of the troubleshooting tips I could find on here.
    The error I get is:
"iTunes could not install the iPod touch Software Upgrade on the iPod because an unknown error occured (0xE8000001)."

The update is stored in the user folder of the user you are logged into your computer as. If you create a new user on your computer you will need to move the update from the old user account to the new user account in the correct location. It is stored at (username)/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications. Create this folder structure in the new user account on your computer, and move the ipod touch app pack to the new user account. Make sure you check permissions on the file after you move it to be sure that read and write privileges are set for the new user. Also be sure you do not have the ipod set to manually sync.

  • CAN'T DOWNLOAD JANUARY SOFTWARE UPGRADE!!

hey so ok this is what's happening.
before we start YES I have updated to both ipod touch software 1.1.3. AND to itunes 7.6!
I plug in my iPod, open iTunes, and go to the iTunes store. I click on the "January software upgrade" link on the store's homepage, and it takes me to a white page with pictures of iPod touch, descriptions of the new apps and features, icons for them, and a list of system requirements. A message in red text says "Connect iPod touch and click 'check for updates' before installing the January software upgrade". Umm but I already did! Also, at the bottom of the page of the left and right sides of the page are buttons saying "no thanks" and "remind me later" respectively.
There is no option anywhere on the page to purchase the upgrade. What gives?

I seem to be having the same problem as others. I have purchased the software but cannot get any further. It will not appear in the purchased box under store. I have spoken to Apple and they were no help whatsoever. I am getting really hacked off. Would you walk into a shop buy something and then be told sorry you cannot have it, email us and tell us what your problem is. MY PROBLEM IS I HAVE PURCHASED SOMETHING AND I CANNOT HAVE IT.......... CAN ANYONE HELP

  • January software update unknown error -2

I just bought an iPod Touch and I am trying to apply the January software update. I continually get the error message:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request.
    An unknown error occurred (-2).
    Any help?

I tried the update on another computer and I got the same error. I also get the error on both computers: from the iTunes Store home screen, when I click on iPod Touch January Software Upgrade I see the error. I think it is some sort of connection problem. Maybe the Apple servers are getting hit with a lot of upgrade requests?
