Japanese Font pack on Adobe Reader 9.1

we had installed the Japanese font pack while installing the Adobe reader 9.0 English package. Now we have pushed the Adober reader 9.1 package to the same workstations, but when we open a document containing the Jananese characters it gives an error saying Japanese font pack is not installed. do we need to re-install the Japanese font pack after intalling the Adobe 9.1 version?

I had the Japanese font pack 9.0 with Reader 9.0 installed, but I have no problems viewing Japanese documents after installing Reader 9.1.
However, I don't see the font pack in Add/Remove Programs, so maybe it has been removed during the 9.1 update? But strange, why can I still view Japanese documents?
I made a little experience: I tried to reinstall the font pack 9.0, but the installer gave me the option to Repair, or Remove - which means that the font pack is still installed.
Can you try the same?

  • 1602 errors when trying to install the Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Reader XI

My company is trying to deploy Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 with the Extended Asian Language font pack via SCCM 2007, and some computers are failing the install of the Extended Asian Language font pack with 1602 error.  Reader is installing successfully, but the font pack log file will have this entry:
    ADelRCP logging: :   In Process : MsiExec.exe
ADelRCP logging: : Setup terminated because critical files are in use or applications that interfere with files installed by setup are running. Review the preceding entries in the log file and close the applications listed before retrying setup.
CustomAction ApplicationInUse returned actual error code 1602 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 9:08:42: ApplicationInUse. Return value 2.
Action ended 9:08:42: INSTALL. Return value 2.
Our automation to install this is killing Reader and Acrobat before running the Reader 11.0.10 install, so I do not know what would be in use here.
I appreicate any suggestions you have.  I can provide the entire log file, upon request.  Thanks.

  • Unable install Japanese Font Pack to Win7 English

    Dear Experts,
I need to install Japanese Font Package on Windoes 7 English, however I could not install the font pack FontPack1000_ja_JP.msi due to the error,
"This installer requires Adobe Reader X installed on your system. Please install Adobe Reader X before running this installer."
Even the latest Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 is already installed on the system...
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Here is my pc sysinfo,

        Version: 10.1.3.23
        Creation Date: 2012/04/04

    Best regards,

The Japanese Reader version already includes the Japanese fonts, so it is usable for this purpose.  Is this workable for you, or would you still like to try installing the Japanese font pack with the English Reader version?
    Hiro.Naka wrote:
Yes, it is installed as default installation, I don't know why it's not recognized.
I don't know that either; most likely it is some registry entry that is incorrectly set.
What I would try if I could not get the Japanese font pack installed with English Reader:
    uninstall font pack and Reader
    run the Acrobat Cleaner tool
    reinstall Reader and font pack
If that does not work, then I have no more ideas.

  • Problem with Acrobat 8.12 keeps trying to install Japanese Font Pack

I have a client who received a pdf file and when she opened it she was told that it needed the Japanese Font Pack. I gave her admin rights but it still keeps doing it. My pc with the same setup works perfectly fine with the offending file. Now everytime she opens any PDF it tries to open the offending file first and load the font pack. I was able to go into the registry and remove the keys that mention the file and Acrobat works fine as long as we do not try and open that file again. We have installed the font pack separately. The offending file opens fine in Reader. Any idea why this would keep happening and if there is a solution to stop it from happening. Thank you.

Actually, since I started getting the security warning, I haven't tried it on another machine. You think this information might be only stored on my machine? It's worth trying... Thanks!

  • Help! Federal W4 form always requires Japanese font pack

Hi! I've been tasked with automating the new hire process and the client would like to include the Federal W4 form in with a collection of other forms required for their internal new hire paperwork. So I download the form from http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf, opened it in LiveCycle Designer 7.1 (on Windows XP), then saved the resulting LiveCycle form as a PDF. Now any time I try to open the form in Acrobat Reader 7.0.8 it goes to the web and requires that the Japanese font pack be installed. If I don't install it the form behaves very strangely, such as form field text disappearing anytime to tab off of them.
Now if I reopen the the newly created W4 LiveCycle PDF in LiveCycle Designer and save it as an XPD file I can see that the font "Kozuka Mincho Pro-VI R" has been inserted into the document. I have confirmed that this font is not present in the original Federal W4 from. My question is why is this font being added and how can I get rid of it? This has to be a bug.
Can anyone else reproduce this problem?

Thanks for the follow-up! Yes, that makes sense. However since I didn't have the Japanese font pack or any Japanese fonts installed on the development workstation then LiveCycle must have used it as a "fallback" font for unknown glyphs. Specifically somewhere in the LiveCycle code must have been detection for what it thinks might be Japanese fonts. I would bet that you are right, if we had the right font loaded on the system then it wouldn't have been an issue.
The performance issues are all with the Designer. There are quite a few objects in my 24 page PDF document. Since many of these PDF pages came from federal forms I imported them into Designer "perserving appearence" so the object count on each page in pretty high. Acrobat reader performs fine with the 24 page form, it's just the Designer that gets pretty slow on some operations.
By the way, do you know if Designer will have better support for adding/removing pages from a document. When I first attempted to assemble the new hire packet 24 page document I opened each federal form individually in Designer and simply copied and pasted the document objects into a new page in a single LiveCycle document to assemble the completed document. I discovered that this didn't work well (objects would paste without the correct fonts) so I went into Acrobat Professional and completely assembled the individual documents into a single 24 page new hire packet before importing this into LiveCycle. This worked very well, but now that I have a LiveCycle document I cannot use Acrobat Professional any more for these types of operations.
I guess my point is that assembing forms from separate documents in a one single LiveCycle document didn't work well just using the LiveCycle development tool. So my question is: are there going to be improvements to LiveCycle so that assembling documents is easier (much like what Acrobat Professional allows) and without flaw. Now that I have a 24 page LiveCycle document I cannot add any more pages onto the document from within Acrobat Professional. So another similar question is: will Acrobat Professional be enhanced to be more "LiveCycle aware" so that it can correctly add/delete pages even in LiveCycle documents. The current limitations with both products as it relates to assembling LiveCycle documents leaves something to be desired. I hope there are plans to correct this.

  • Poor font quality in Adobe Reader

I have the same document open in two different PDF readers, and the font quality in Adobe Reader is really bad. I am using Adobe Reader 10.1.4.
I have checked the rendering in Edit > Preferences. Smooth Text is on for Monitor.
Why does this look so much worse in Adobe?

As you say that is because you didn't embed the font. If you
want good fonts then you need to do that. Problem solved.

  • Why are there free fonts included with Adobe Reader?

I noticed that there is a folder with free Adobe fonts included with Adobe Reader. The fonts are Courier Std, Minion Pro and Myriad Pro.
Why are these fonts included? Will these fonts be included with future versions of Adobe Reader?

The fonts are only for use with Adobe Reader. You should not attempt to use them for any other purpose. They are included with software that is free of charge, but still subject to license and may not be copied to other systems...
All versions of Adobe Reader have included some fonts, but they change.
They are mainly there to help Adobe Reader show PDF files that do not embed fonts, to generate substitutions in a wide range of sizes and shapes.

Is there a description link or a way to determine from within Reader?

  • How do I change the font size on Adobe Reader 8.1.2

I recently purchased an HP  laptop running Vista. It came with Adobe Reader 8.1.2.  I can't change the font size in a form that I am filling out.  I can cut& paste a different font size into the form but not change the font size.  Someone said that it is a free download so I won't be able to change the font size. Does anyone know a fix?

To change the font size in PDF forms, one needs to have Adobe Acrobat rather than Adobe Reader.

  • Unknown font error in Adobe reader

    Hi Team,
We have developed a PDF form (interactive form) using Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES 8.2
When we open the form using Adobe Reader 7 or later, we are getting a pop up stating - "Adobe Reader has found component 'Chinese traditional Fonts' and its size is 7.88 MB. Do you want to proceed with the download of this component?".
Apparently, we did not use any chinese fonts on our PDF form and the reason behind this error is still clueless.
Our main restriction in this case is the end users count for this form is more and they do not have permisiion to dowload the Chinese component. Kindly address the scenario / clarify our questions.
    1. Is there any way to locate the chinese font used in the form (if any) - We have tried Preflight option under Adobe Acrobat to genrate a font report and that did not help.
    2. Any alternate way to re design the form to avoid the chinese font inclusion
    3. Any particular property of fields to be checked for the chinese character inclusion - We have already treid the Form Propoerties -> Fonts under Adobe Acrobat, under which all the fonts used were ANSI encoded.
If required we would be able to share the PDF form, please let us know the mode of sharing for the same.
Looking forward to hear a helpful solution.
Note: The error pop up did not come when opened with Adober reader versions X & later.
    Cheers,  Kavi

  • Japanese fonts problem with Adobe Acrobat 6

Hello,  I have been having this problem for a few weeks now.  We have Japanese multilingual XP and normal XP sp2 at our company and installed currently on the systems is Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.01.  There are two errors I am getting when working with the files.  "The documents could not be saved.  The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
When saving the PDF it looks like the file path is the problem.  If I save to another folder, the problem goes away.  It is due to the Japanese characters in the folder name.  When opening a file, it is a similar problem - if I change the title of the PDF before opening it, it opens just fine.  I have found these workarounds but am interested in knowing if Adobe or anyone else has come to a permanent solution to this.  I saw in one article online a microsoft fix for a very similar case with a hotfix, but it did not work (KB943337).
I have uninstalled/reinstalled.  I have applied the hotfix.  I have tried updating to newer versions of 6.x.  The workaround I have works but I would much prefer to fix rather than patch.  There does not seem to be a common thread on the PCs this is problematic on.
    Thanks!

Are you receiving this error while opening any PDF within Reader or while opening it in a browser. If its the later could you see if the following link helps:

Also, let me know which version of Adobe Reader is installed on your system? You can check the same by going to Help > About Adobe Reader.

  • Type3 Fonts problems since adobe reader version 9

    hello adobe support team,
i develop software for a client, who has a problem with his pdfs since the adobe reader version 9. Older versions have no problems. Its has something to do with the Type3 Fonts.
The generated pdf have since the version 9 a blue box, before the image/font is correct.
    * There is changment to the version 9 in the point type3 ?
    * There is the chance that in the next pdf reader version it works again?
    thank you for help
    ps:
i could send a pdf example

You should not be required to enter a password to download a password protected  pdf file. Only opening the file. Let use be a little bit more careful with telling us what is going on by describing what you are doing step by step. Are you downloading a file using Safari, Firefox or Chrome? What version number of the program or are you using another utility like Fetch or  Interarchy. Let us assume you are using Safari for the moment. Are you double clicking on a link or control/right clicking on the the url to download the file. Can you tell the name of the file you are downloading?

  • License for Fonts bundled with Adobe Reader

The free Adobe Reader 9 comes bundled with the fonts "Minion Pro" and "Myriad". According to the license of Adobe Reader, these fonts are part of the software and can be used under the same terms. Unfortunately, several clauses of the license do not properly match typical use of fonts. For example, the license does not clearly state whether the fonts may be used with other applications, such as Microsoft Word, in commercial work.
Is there an official position of Adobe on this issue?
    Best regards,
    Konrad

    Hi Michael,
The Adobe License Manager (ALM) currently does not support the use case that you mention, but your suggestion has been communicated to the appropriate folks as a possible product enhancement in the future.
    Thanks!
