Japanese fonts for Reader on Sparc Solaris?

I am looking for Japanese fonts for Reader on Sparc Solaris.
I understand that Reader 8.1.7 is the latest for Sparc.
I searched Adobe website but only found font packages for later versions and with x86 shared objects;
I could not find font pack that is either machine independent or for sparc.
Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

  • Japanese Fonts for Acrobat Reader X

With the older versions of Acrobat Reader to view a document that had both english and japanese fonts you had to install an extra font pack for the language that the additional fonts used. With Reader X I see there is a MUI for the Japanese version but I am using the english (US) version and want to view PDF files that have japanese fonts. Do I need to install additional font pack? If so where do I download it? If not how do I configure the reader app to view the fonts?

    Hi,
Assuming that you have installed Reader MUI on an English OS, you will need to install the additional Japanese Font Pack to view any Japanese PDF (From the location mentioned in ssway's post). Reader MUI simplifies the process of installing different language versions of Reader by providing you with a single installer for the same.
The below link sheds more information on the same:

  • Unable to View Japanese Fonts in Reader

    A conundrum I just can't resolve:
I have two computers, both running XP Pro.
I downloaded the latest Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site (version 8.1.2) and installed to both computers.
I have a PDF with some Japanese fonts in them.
When I open the PDF on computer 1, initially the PDF appears to display a row of dots where the Japanese text should be. Within seconds however, a prompt appears informing me that I must download a font pack to be able to display the text. I agree to the download, and it commences and installs automatically. I then have to restart Reader, upon which I can now view the Japanese fonts. Perfect.
However, on computer 2, although the same operations take place, the Japanese fonts never appear - only a row of dots.
I have tried uninstalling Reader and re-downloading and reinstalling. I have also tried manually downloading the Japanese font pack and installing it, with no change.
    Any ideas?

Hmm - this is very unusual. I have installed the Japanese font pack on countless computers, and I have never seen such a problem.
If I were to experience this problem, I would try the following
    - uninstall the font pack from Add/Remove Programs (Japanese Fonts Support For Adobe Reader)
    - uninstall Adobe Reader
    - reboot, if asked to
    - reinstall Adobe Reader
    - download the font pack from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrasianfontpack.html (make sure that the font pack version matches the reader version, i.e. font pack version 8 for reader 8.1.2)
    - install the font pack
If all this still fails, then we'll have to come up with new ideas.

  • Japanese font for 8220

Hi.  I want to install Japanese font to my BB 8220 Flip.    but I cant find right one.  I want to read and write Japanese.
Please somebody tell me where can I get the Japanese font from.    Thanks

You need multilanguage device OS to be installed on your device.
As far as I know there is no way to install additional fonts and input languages to existing device OS-es.

  • Problems with downloading Reader 10 X (Windows OS) - is there an uninstaller .exe for Reader 9?

Having problems downloading Reader 10 X.  Is there a "uninstaller" .exe file available to remove all previous versions, references, and language fonts for Reader 9 ?  There is an "uninstaller"  .exe for FlashPlayer.  Please advise.  Thank you.

    Ankit
Based on my Add/Remove/Programs, I had Adobe Reader 9.4.5 installed (no other versions were listed).  Using the "remove" option in the Add/Remove/Program listing, I uninstalled Adobe Reader 9.4.5.  When I tried to download Reader 10.1.1 from Adobe, there was an error stating the download could not complete because there were earlier versions installed. Looking through "my deskstop" and "C" drive, I found there was Adobe Reader 9.2.0 .exe. file.  Also, another issue is the Language fonts listed in Add/Remove/Programs are not easily detected because the name doesn't begin with Adobe.  When you sort by name, you will find Chinese Language Reader Font, Korean Language Reader Font, etc.  This requires people to searah for all references to Adobe Reader.   Having an "uninstaller" for Reader would make it much easier for people to ensure the uninstall of Reader is complete - removing all previous versions, references and language fonts, before they attempt to install the latest version for Adobe Reader.  Thanks again for your attention.

  • Check cdrom for read errors

    Hello all,
may be this question sounds stupid, but is there any way to check cd disk for read errors in Solaris ?
    I have Solaris 9 installed
    thanks !

You didn't mention whether the CD was bought or burned from an iso image. If you have access to an md5sum of the iso image that was used to burn the CD, then you can verify the CD content against the image. There might be a clever tool to automate this, but I usually just md5sum the iso image, then do the same with the CD itself.
To use md5sum on the CD: assuming it's already (auto)mounted, check what /dev/... name it corresponds to by looking at the output of mount. Then umount the CD but don't eject it. Run md5sum (or digest -a md5) on that /dev/ pathname.
If you don't have a verification source, then I suppose you could just get Solaris to scan the entire CD contents (e.g. use "tar cf -" on the CD root and redirect output to /dev/null) and then look for any I/O errors in the system logs.

    Hi.
I carrier is AT&T but I downloaded EastAsian Language pack from Hong Kong CSL.
When you complete the download, Go to "Start" - "My Computer" - "C:" - "Program Files" - "Common Files" - "Research In Motion" - "AppLoader" - delete "Vender.xml".Then, open the "Loader.exe" and connect Bold to PC.
When you reach to "Device application selection" page, you will see "Japanese Romaji Input Method" Check "Japanese Romaji Input Method" under the "East Asian Language and Input Support" section.
Please let me know if the above works for you.

Oracle Instant Client was a "feature" introduced with Oracle 10g. There is no 9i version.
Code that links with Oracle 9i libraries should be able to be linked with Instant Client 10gR2.
The resulting application will be able to connect to databases from Oracle 8.1 onwards.

  • Adobe Reader X Japanese font problem in Windows 7

This is happening if we open a PDF with Japanese font in Windows7 OS.
Tried to install Japanese font pack for Japanese Adobe X. But that is not getting installed with an error message : 'Install Adobe X before installing Japanese font pack'.
Only fontpacks for 10.1 version could get installed successfully. But its again same issue.
    Can anyone hele here?
    Thanks,
    Rashmi

When that happens, can you check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) if AcroRd32.exe is already running?  If so, can you kill the process from Task Manager and try again?
Another thing to try when this happens is to restart Windows, does it work after that?

  • SQLPlus and SQLLoader needed for Sparc Solaris 2.6

    Hello,

    hai Alan,
Let me specific on the problem.
I developed a fail-over software for Linux servers(need 2 servers of same configuration). In this servers ,there are two modes , Active and passive mode. At a time one can be active, and other passive. Clients can communicate the with the servers through a common alias ip address. But the actual ip address of servers can be different.Normally Active server would be having the alias ip.
When switching take place from active to passive mode, server will be assigned with its actual ip address. When switching takes place other passive server becomes active and its get common alias ip address.?
This is the actual scenario . And fake is used in Linux to refresh the arp table of immediate switching device.
But i came to know that solaris os would do it normally when it switches .?
    Is this possible with solaris.?
