Japanese fonts with Infinality in Chromium not rendering well

After having installed Infinality, the rest of my fonts look brilliant.
Japanese fonts, however look distinctly awful. Which is odd, since before using Infinality, they weren't actually that bad.
I can't work out how to fix it, I've tried tweaking the font hinting in lxappearance (using Openbox, btw); had a poke around .Xresources, but still no joy.

You can try changing fonts for Japanesee typeset with official Advanced Font Settings extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta … ecicepbmbm.
Tho I think your fonts look good, mine are overhinted with stock freetype so that kanji in bold are almost unreadable.

  • Help with Sub-catalog CSS not rendering properly

    I am having a issue with  deep Sub-catalogs not displaying an external style sheet, possibly being overwritten by modulestylesheet?
    Sorry if it looks a little sloppy, the site is still a work in progress...
    If you look here at this main catalog : http://www.4plotters.com/shop/   --------- >the css is being applied properly,
    the next level down here : http://www.4plotters.com/shop/Toner-Ink  --------------> css also applied properly.
    but... when you go one more level deep   here : http://www.4plotters.com/shop/Toner-Ink/ink-wide-format  -----> css is not being applied from my external css (much of its functionality is to overwrite the modulestyle sheet) Notice the link colors change to blue, and the catalog images and headers don't match the catalogs before it.
    I have some other external twitter bootstrap css files that are still being applied, so I am a little confused. I am fairly new to css and html (and self taught) so I might be just missing some fundamental precedence rules.
    Thanks in advance!
    *Edit* When I change the parent catalog to the top level "Shop" catalog, the css is once again applied properly. It is something about being 2 or 3 levels deep that breaks the css link.

    Hi,
    Go into your template and remove the ".." prior to the CSS reference to help correct this issue.

  • Cantarell fonts with Infinality

    I just installed Infinality and most of my fonts work well, even the bitmap ones.
    I can't for the life of me get Cantarell to work.  I have done fc-list to make sure that it is there:
    /usr/share/fonts/otf-cantarell-ib/Cantarell-Bold.otf: Cantarell:style=Bold
    /usr/share/fonts/otf-cantarell-ib/Cantarell-Regular.otf: Cantarell:style=Regular
    and it is.  (This is the cantarell off of infinality-bundle-fonts btw)
    I did a bit of reading and tried to muck around with my ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf and added some files in the /etc/fonts/conf.avail.infinality and conf.d and nothing seems to help.
    At the moment my cantarell looks like this:

    and the fonts.conf in my ~/.config/fontconfig looks like this:

  • ADF Pgaes with Dynamic Tab Shell not rendering in iPAD 1+

    Hi,
    We have used Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell templates to build our Dashboard page with multiple dynamic tabs.
    One year back when we initially created the main Dashboard with Dynamic Tab Shell and used UIShell API's to open new dynamic tab on click of command links in left hand side navigator. We started with Jdev 11.1.1.3 and we upgrade till Jdev 11.1.1.5.
    Now recent requirement is, we need to test our applications in Safari browser within iPAD(2.0). While testing we observed below issues.
    1) The JSPX page with Dynamic Tab Shell is keep showing "Loading..." We had to refresh the Safari browser twice to render the page.
    2) Any af:commandLink as part of the JSPX which has dynamic tab shell template, not working. We have bunch of links on left navigator and on click of each link will open a new dynamic tab(we use UIShell API) . Nothing happens on click of those af:commandLinks.
    3) We have "Home" and "Logout" links on top right corner. Nothing happening on click of those links too.
    All these like af:commandLinks and af:commandButtons working as expected when we have them in side a JSPX page w/o dynamic tab shell.
    Tested and observed same behavior both in iPAD 1.0 and newer version iPAD 2.0.
    We desperately need help on thin. Pls let us know, if i need to provide more details. Is there any specific configurations required to make it work in Jdev 11.1.1.5? At this point we can not upgrade our Env to 11.1.1.6 or 11.1.2 as we already have these Apps in Production and we should give the users flexibility to use it in iPAD.
    Please help!!
    Thanks!!
    Subba.

    Hi Jaun,
    Thanks your response.
    Yes- I have seen the support for iPAD and iOS are more enhanced it in 11.1.1.6 and later versions.
    But we already hosted our apps in Production which is currently 11.1.1.5. We have complex workflows designed in SOA suite too.
    Now, if we need to upgrade to 11.1.1.6, we need to basically do validate/test all our applications on new release and it cost us. CLient may not approve for upgrade as of now.
    Is there any guidance or way for customers like us who are on 11.1.1.5 version, to get the ADF features and support for iPAD or iOS? Kind of backward compatible patches kind of thing?
    Do we need to log a SR on ORACLE?
    Please suggest!!

  • Page built with a table does not display well in Internet Explorer.

    In Chrome and Safari it appears correctly (items are left justified in each column) while in Internet Explorer all columns are centered. Website is www.eventpowerli.com and it is the home page where we have the issue. I am new to building websites so please bear with me on this question: -) Let me know if you need addnl info. From what I have seen thus far, IE is a real problem child for more than one reason

    Honestly do not use tables for your site layouts. There is a variety of box model issues and more with IE, especially with using tables. And it is really bad form to design that way anyway.
    Tablless web design using CSS is the way it should be done and if you conform to web standards and CSS standards and best practises you will have less issues.

  • 3GS with TomTom W. Europe NOT working well after 3.1.3 OS update

    tomtom was working fine but it now freezes, goes from color to black and white and if it works for a few seconds it is very inacurate, this started to happen after the 3.1.3 os update, HELP PLEASE, THANKS

    What does having broadband have to do with deleting and re-installing the app?
    The app should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Under the Applications tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you can deselect the app followed by a sync to remove the app and reselect the app followed by a sync to re-install the app.
    If you deleted and re-installed the app with your iPhone, try doing this with iTunes and syncing.
    Apple is not responsible for a problem with a 3rd party app. TomTom is responsible for a problem with their app.

  • FCP project not rendering well as self contained QT file

    G-4 (late model) 800Mhz,1GB SDRAM, 34 gig of space left, OS 10.3, FCP 4.0.1 LiveType 1.0.1 and Quicktime 6.4
    Trying to render my little 15 second project as a self contained QT File so I can send it to a place, over HS internet, to be used as a full quality production over their in-house system. Looks like you must use compressor to do this but set at uncompressed. The anamorphic final piece looks sqwished. Did I miss a setting someplace? Also, it looks pixalated.Using the Quicktime movie standard setting is not responding to the self contained setting. It is not self contained. Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Sid Coleman

    #3 output lossless DV
    Shane's Stock Answer #3:
    To export your DV project so there is no loss in quality, simply go to the File Menu and select EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Not Quicktime Conversion, fot this will compress the footage. Make sure the settings match your timeline settings, make it self contained and you are set.
    If it is anamorphic, then you need to adjust the dimensions by multiplying by 1.33. So 720 will be 960. 960x480.

  • Ideal powerline adapters with Infinity 2?

    As the title says, what would be a pretty good (and cheapish) set of powerline ethernet adapters to give best results with Infinity 2?
    The engineer set everything up this morning and I get near enough full 80/20. I use a set of 85Mbps TP-LINK adapters and get 6-11Mbps (never noticed the problem before as my old broadband speed was much less).
    Currently thinking of ordering 2 sets of 200Mbps TP-LINK adapters unless someone could advise otherwise?

    I have aSamsung Smart tv with infinity and will not allow Microsoft to install silverlight to watch BT Sport ,so I thought upgrade with a you view box,then read on how to install that it won't work with a power line plugin- great! This was my original problem when I bought the smart tv ethernet connections, I use Ethernet plugins next to my tv etc setup, but this is no good for BT Sport
    The UK needs to get it's act together with this technology ,the Government needs to knock a few heads together for Joe Public.Feeling a bit cheated again.

  • Graph not rendering at refresh

    Hi everyone,
    I have a problem with a graph (a pie graph) I created with datacontrols: When I load a page, I'm able to see it, but when I change of page and come back, it doesn't appear. The usual message "Fetching data..." appears like always, but the graph is not displayed. This problem is really strange because it is always okay on the first load. I have checked the visibility attributes, but I didn't find anything. When I reload the page (F5) on the page when the data is displayed correctly, it's okay, but on page change, even if I reload with (F5), it is not rendering the pie graph. The other components render correctly.

    Hi Navaneetha,
    there is my code for the pie:
    <af:panelAccordion id="pa1" styleClass="AFStretchWidth">
    <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 1" id="sdi2">
    <dvt:pieGraph id="pieGraph1"
    value="#{bindings.MomEmployeeView1.graphModel}"
    subType="PIE" threeDEffect="true"
    shortDesc="salary">
    <dvt:background>
    <dvt:specialEffects/>
    </dvt:background>
    <dvt:graphPieFrame/>
    <dvt:seriesSet>
    <dvt:series/>
    </dvt:seriesSet>
    <dvt:sliceLabel/>
    <dvt:pieLabel rendered="true"
    text="#{portalBundle.SALARY}"/>
    <dvt:legendArea/>
    </dvt:pieGraph>
    </af:showDetailItem>
    </af:panelAccordion>
    I tried to change the imageFormat to all the different formats, and it didn't work. It's always rendering correctly the first time, it's only when I change page and come back that it doesn't render.

  • IDCS3 font issues on final printjob, not in IDCS3 nor Acrobat

    Something odd happened.
    We use IDCS3 for designing a 24p tabloid newspaper for 4 issues now. It works fast and efficient, our workflow process has been cut down from 3 weeks to 3 days since we migrated from Coreldraw (yes you read right - sigh).
    We didn't encounter any problems for the last issues, till now.
    We received a container full of newspapers from the printing company with some strange font errors.
    On some advertisings some used fonts are substituted with -seemingly inconsistent- different fonts. None of the affected fonts were too exotic. Arial, even a plain simple Courier was substituted with something different
    for example some lines read this:
    Yg"cuukuv"{qw"ghhgevkxgn{"
    Not on all pages though. It is a mistery.
    I firstly thought we didn't do enough quality control on our final pdf files. So I opened the pdf again, especially looking for the affected pages/areas. Seems to show up perfectly on my screen. The final printjob was different than our pdf.
    After that one of our designers come to report me a problem on his computer. Every time he opens the .indd file IDCS3 complains about a missing 'Arial Bold' font. No complains about the 'Courier New' font though.
    My question. Who is to blame for this error. Is it us - the under experienced InDesign newbies - or is it our printing company? Should they have seen this? Did we do anything wrong? Is the fontproblem on the design computer to blame? Why it happened with such a standard fonts?
    Any suggestions are welcome. Would be happy to supply more details.
    Thanks
    Karel

    Open the original PDF and go to the File Properties > Fonts tab. Make sure the fonts are all embedded. It sounds as if they are not.
    The "blame," if there is any, would be assigned based on a number of factors. If the fonts are all properly embedded, it sounds like the printer is doing the substitution (though I have no idea how). There was an issue, I believe in CS1, with subset fonts in nested PDFs (PDFs placed into ID documents and then exported again as PDF) not being properly recognized if more than one PDF used the same font, but different subsets, but to the best of my knowledge that has long since been corrected.
    If the fonts are not all shown as embedded, it can be caused by failure on the part of the person making the PDF to specifically embed them (typically in a distilled PDF), or it may be that the font itself does not allow embedding, in which case it is a poor choice and should not be used for this kind of work. When exporting, InDesign automatically embeds all western fonts with appropriate permissions, but not all applications are so helpful.

  • Ken Burns Effects not rendering

    I am having isssues with Ken Burns effects not rendering. I have no iMovie 3rd-party plug-ins. I select the timing of the effect and hit apply and the photo clip hangs and will not render. Anyone else experiencing the same issue or have a fix??
    Thank you.

    I have discovered the issue. It wasn't 3rd party plug-ins, but a Quicktime plug-in entitled "QuartzComposer.component". After removing, Ken Burns effects rendered as planned.

  • Having issues with created PDFs requiring Japanese language font pack when they should not

    Last week, I created 3 forms for someone. They wanted a fourth, so I put that together today, but halfway through making it, my Livecycle crashed and refused to load up again (I have NO idea why...), so I reinstalled it. I went on to finish making the form, but for some reason, even though the language settings is set to English and not viewer's default locale, the form requires a Japanese font pack. My computer is set to Japanese locale, but with the default language set to English, it should bypass this. The oddest thing is that one of the 3 forms that I already created and sent to them (and worked fine!!!), now also asks me for Japanese language font packs. What the heck is going on?
    The forms use nothing other than Myriad Pro, which is set to be embedded. My Acrobat opens them all just fine and shows font properties correctly, but my Reader dies and asks for Japanese font packs. Please help, thank you!
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1910267/injection.pdf
    This is a link to one of the 2 forms that is giving me trouble. It's simple, and was already created before my Acrobat reinstall, yet is now asking for Japanese fonts...
    Edit: Forms were created using Livecycle Designer ES 2.5. I'm testing with Acrobat X and Reader X.

    Thanks for your reply!
    Ok, the form I linked, I actually only tested on my own machine, but had the Japanese font error so I assumed it held true for the new one as well. Here is the one I made today that has been tested on 4 computers (list below): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1910267/treatment_notes.pdf
    These are the computers it was tested on:
    My own computer (Windows 7, format/location set to English/US, default non-Unicode language Japanese, System Locale Japan) - pops up error in Reader X, but not Acrobat Pro X
    These 3 computers are all set to complete English/US and do not have Acrobat:
    The recipient's computer (not sure what OS, likely Reader X, no other languages installed) - popped up the error asking for Japanese fonts
    My mother's computer (XP, Reader 9, I know it has Chinese installed, but I don't think it has Japanese) - no errors
    My brother's computer (Vista, Reader 9, no other languages installed) - popped up the Japanese font error
    And just for fun I tried on the HP Touchpad (Reader 10.3), but it just gives that error that it can't display the contents of the pdf. I think the WebOS port of Reader either is horribly incomplete somehow, or otherwise I have no idea.
    I noticed the similar threads, but since they are unanswered, I thought I'd try again and see if I could get an answer. I've got my hands in the air at this point...

  • On certain sites, some lines have the lower half missing. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

    On some sites certain lines appear with the bottom half missing, as if obliterated. Changing the font or its size does not help. The error does not appear with Iceape or Chromium.

    I looks that the whole line doesn't fit in the container, so the bottom part is cut off. The usual cause is that a font is used that takes more vertical space, so any increase or changes from the font in what the website prescribes can cause this issue. I've seen web pages that were even affected by changing the minimum font size from none to 1 (!). If you do not have the font installed that the website specifies then Firefox will fallback to another (default) font that may have different dimensions.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 export to PDF does not render Japanese fonts

    Hello,
    I have searched the forums for this issue, and there does not seem to be a clear resolution to this problem.  We are using CR2008 to create RPT files that are bundled with our custom .NET 2005 application, which then generates reports in PDF format by running the RPT files against an access mdb database using the CR2008 runtime (our application is deployed on a different machine than the one that is used to create the RPT files).  The issue we are having occurs when data in the access mdb file contains Strings with Japanese characters.  The system that our application is running on does contain the eastern asian language fonts so if a user opens the mdb file using access, they can see the Unicode strings in the database rendered properly (rather than the usual boxes and garbage).  However, once our application generates the report filling in the rpt file with data from the mdb and exporting the report to pdf format, the entries that should contain Japanese font data, which leads me to believe the problem is in the export pdf function of the crystal reports 2008 runtime.  Is there anyway we can configure the runtime to properly embed the fonts in the PDF so that the users can view the Japanese content from the database.  Our users end up viewing reports on both OSX and Windows using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    Thank you very much in advance

    Thanks for the quick reply!
    1) Exact version of Crystal Reports. (Open Crystal Developer. Go to Help> About Crystal Reports).
    12.0.0.683
    Type: Full
    2) What happens if you export the report to PDF format from the standalone Crystal Reports Designer?
    Same result.  The entry shows up as giberish in the report designer preview...however, by doing this I stumbled upon something.  See below
    3) Are you able to export the report to other formats without any issue?
    See Note below
    NOTE:
    In another part of the report, I just put the fields in question directly in the report (that is, not embedded in a text object).  That part of the report when run produces the correct non-gibberish, properly rendered Japanese result (in the CR designer preview).  The same field, however, when embedded in a text object, results in the gibberish being shown in the designer preview as well.
    Now when I export this to PDF, that ends up turning both areas into the incorrect, gibberish result.  Both the one that did properly render in the preview (field not embedded in text object) and the one in the text object.
    Exporting to any other format (tried xls, rtf and html) results in correct rendering for the field not embedded in the text object and incorrect rendering for the field embedded in a text object.
    Hope this helps with the problem, and I think it means this thread probably still belongs under this current forum.
    Cheers
