Japanese Music

I really like Japanese music. If I download the japanese version of Itunes will I gain access to more Japanese music? It seems every Japanese artist, even popular ones, I search for comes up with no results. Help?

If I download the japanese version of Itunes
There is only one version of iTunes.
When you get an iTunes store account, it is for a specific country.
You can only get an account in a country if you have CC from a bank in that country (or a gift cardvfor that country) and a billing address in that country.
You must also be present in that country to use that iTune store.

  • Why can't I buy japanese music

I like Japanese music from watch anime and I want to some. yet It won't let me because I live in america. This is unfair and it prevents the spread of cultral diffusion. Itunes should allow all types of music to be bought around the world. I know people in japan can buy American bands after all.

Because whoever holds the copyright to that music(if anyone) in the USA hasn't given Apple permission to sell it there.

  • URGENT! It won't let me buy Japanese music!

I am in desparate need to buy a song from Japan. However, my account is only valid in the US. How can I buy a song from Japan? Everytime I try to do it, it sends me to the US store, where that song is not available.

However, when I try to change my country (I really am American, though) to Japan it says that I can not change my country until I clear my balance. Is this saying that once I finish up what's on my gift card, I can change it to Japan, get an American giftcard, use it for a Japanese song, and pay in Yen. Is that it?
Also, does the same go for other countries (particularly Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, and Germany)?

  • Weird Japanese music preview in Front Row.

    Hello.
For some reason, inside Front Row, I have an option to hear 30 second snips from various J-Pop artists.
    Why ????
I don't listen to J-Pop, I have never listened to J-Pop, and I have never used the Japanese iTunes store (The text is in Japanese...).
How do I get rid of this ?

Do you mean to ignore the iTunes options all together? Check out this recent topic. You should be able to disable it by typing (or copying and pasting) this command in the Terminal utility:
defaults write com.apple.frontrow EnableITMS -bool NO
Then shut down Front Row with this command:
    killall "Front Row"

  • I have an American Itunes account, but now I live in Japan. I want to download Japanese artists to my I-tunes, but it won't let me. Is there any way to move past this? My American I-Pod and it is connected with an American credit card.

I have both an i-Phone 4 and a classic i-Pod. I want to download Japanese music on I-Tunes, but it won't let me because they I have an American account. I cannot get a Japanese credit card because I am a foreigner, I would still like to use my American card.
Is there any way to get Japanese artists and songs, without deleting my I-Tunes account for America?
    Thank you,
    Serita

  • How to display Japanese text from an XML file

    Hiya,
I have various adapted mp3 players [called playlists on my site] which retrieve the songs and song titles/artists from an XML file. One of them plays Japanese music.
Most of the tracks are in English but I now have a couple of songs with Japanese titles and file names which I can't get to preview/display in Flash Pro CS5 [Mac]. I can type static Japanese text and it displays fine but Flash seems to be having a problem with the Japanese from the XML file.
Though I can find the English titles, etc, it would be nice if there were a way to display Japanese text from a 'multi-lingual' [English and Japanese] XML file [probably something really easy].
    Thanks a bunch.

  • I desparately need to read a Japanese Clarisworks cwk file!

    Hello Folks;
I am a volunteer with an anime convention.
One of our japanese musical guests has sent us a list of tech requirements in a clarisworks file.
I need to import it to something current (or find a place where i can buy something old ) that preserves the japanese so that i can get it translated so that we can get the equipment rented or tell them they need to bring their own.
(why is is still in clarisworks? i suspect it's because the artist or author of the list is reluctant to change tools)
I have tried just about everything under the sun in the open source and shareware realm and had limited success.
With a shareware program who's name escapes me (i am at work) i was able to read the english text in the file (things like 'MacBook Pro' and 'ProTools') but none of the japanese because it all showed up as '?' chars.
Do any of you have any suggestions as to how i could resolve this problem?
    tnx!

    Hello
Since you're using x86 Mac, your only option will be, I think, to get AppleWorks 6 (namely 6.2.4), install and use it via Rosetta under OSX.
As far as I can tell, AW6.2.3 (Classic component paired with AW6.2.4) can open ClarisWorks 4J's files. Don't know about older versions of CW.
I think AW6.2.8 (Classic component paired with AW6.2.9) will be able to open CW4J's files as well BUT AW6.2.9 will not according to various reports on this forum. And you cannot use AW6.2.8 with your Mac because it does not provide Classic environment. So avoid AW6.2.9/6.2.8 package, which will be useless in your case.
Try eBay, for one, to get AppleWorks 6.2.4.
I found AW6.2.4 at eBay.com at the time of this writing.
    Good luck,
    H
PS. AW6.2.4/6.2.3 English version can open files created by CW4J (Japanese version) without problems if you have Japanese resources, such as fonts, properly installed in your system.

  • Itunes english version of Music Store

I would like to learn how I can change my music store.
I am using a Japanese version Windows XP, and I downloaded the english version of itunes, it installed in English, with English Menus. But the music store keeps connecting to the Japanese Music store. I can't view English Podcast directories or videos or songs. How could I change those internal settings for the directories, so I can browse through them in English.
Please Help Toshiba Dynabook Windows XP Japanese OS - I'm currently located in Japan
P-IV, 256RAM, 80gig HDD, Toshiba Dynabook   Windows XP

The language of the Music store depends on the local language of that store: e.g. The German store will always be in German, the French store in French ... regardless of the language selection of iTunes itself.
You have to switch to an iTMS in Englisch like the U.S. or UK store
Select Music Store in left column
In the iTMS main windows scroll down to the very botton
There is a dropdown with a flag in a blob: use zhat dropdown to switch to another country.

  • Why do I have Japanese iTunes in my Front Row?

In Front Row, when I got to Music, it has two iTunes items at the top of the list. But they are in Japenese... what gives? Best I can tell, they are album samples of random Japanese music.

actually guys if you log into the guest account and open front row things should be correct. if that is the case, then copy the plist from the guest account and put it in your account and all is fixed. I have verified on 3 macbooks that had this problem.

  • Strange items in music?

I just got a mac mini to use as a media server. When I start front row, and go to music, there are some strange japanese music videos above all my artists/playlists/etc.
How do I get rid of these????

For some reason, Front Row thinks your iTunes country is set to Japan. It's trying to show you the "top songs" available on the iTunes Japanese store. You should be able to get rid of this by deleting the Front Row preferences (there isn't much stored in there anyway, but you may need to turn on or off the Front Row screen saver after doing this). Move this .plist file to your Desktop, log out and log back in to see if it's fixed:
    <Macintosh HD>/Users/<YourUsersShortName>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist

  • Getting Music from Another Country

Im a big fan of japanese rock and other music but it wont let me purchase music under the japanese music store. Can anyone tell me how to do this or if it is possible.

Expanding a bit, in order to buy from another country's iTunes Music Store, you must have either:
    a) a credit card with a billing address in that country, or
    b) a mailing address in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
This, BTW, is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic before you post a question.

  • Help Plz--I get an error message when I try and open iTunes

My PC crashed and I had to reboot to factory start ups. Luckily, it kept all my files including my iTunes library. The problem is that everytime I try to open iTunes I get a message saying iTunes had encountered a problem and needs to close. I tried reinstalling the iTunes software but it still says the samething. Does anyone know how to help?

I removed iTunes and downloaded the new version but I'm still getting the same message. Do you think it's a problem with quicktime? The only other thing I can see is that I had some Japanese music and the Kanji has been changed to little squares in my library. Could one of those be the problem?

  • The song titles are displayed incorrectly, how do I fix this?

Ever since an update of itunes a couple of months ago, the titles have been displayed incorrectly in my library. I listen to a lot of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese music and after the update the information turned into squares. I went online and tried the much given solution of converting the id3 tags. This resulted in all my songs (even the english ones) turning to Chinese script when I reversed unicode, which was solved by reversing it again. However after trying all the id3 versions I am now left with a part of my songs being displayed as ?????? and with the other, largest part having the correct names but with the symbol Ƞ spread throughout the titles, which is annoying to say the least.
Other programmes on my computer display the different scripts just fine, and I have Japanese and Korean installed so as to be able to write it. The songs are also still displayed correctly if I acces them in their folders.
I am kind of losing hope after trying to find a solution on the internet for a while now, and have even re-installed itunes completely, to no avail.
If anyone has any suggestions or possible solutions, I'd be very grateful.

    Hi Treenr3,
Sounds like you have been on the right track with regard to troubleshooting this issue. It may be worth going over the font troubleshooting in the following article, just to double check (it refers to a previous version of iTunes, but the troubleshooting steps should be similar).
iTunes 9: Font text is incoherent or appears in a different language

It may also be worth trying some isolation troubleshooting in new test user account with just a couple of the tracks that are having issues to see if it persists.

  • IME Compatability with iTunes?

    Hello,
I was just curious about the use of the IME, in particular, Japanese IME, with iTunes. I've only recently used the tool by itself, and I have primarily Japanese music in my library. I was wondering if there was any way to type in Japanese characters as input in my library.
When I tried it, when I would deselect the input field, the characters would disappear and be replaced with whatever was in the field before I selected it. Typing in Word or somewhere else and then copy and pasting worked, though.
I was just hoping there was a simpler way.
    ~Thank you

Windows' default MSIME, ATOK or others?
some non-Unicode IMEs may not be full compatible.

  • Files/folders not showing up with Airport Disk but are there?

I've recently bought the Airport Extreme, I was all excited about Airport Disk but there is a weird, extremly annoying bug.
On my USB hard drive connected using Airport Disk, I have a folder called music. When I open this folder, OS X starts reading the directory and files/folders show up one by one, but then it just all disappears - and the folder shows nothing. In Windows, it shows nothing at all in the folder. However, when I reconnect the drive using USB to my MacBook Pro, all my music is there and I can see all the files.
I have a feeling this is something to do with this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305040
as I have German and Japanese music files imported by iTunes which are not named in English (ie the filenames are encoded in Japanese etc etc)
Another strange thing is, in Windows, if I type the direct path to a folder (which is inside the supposed empty folder) I will be able to access it.
    What's going on Apple?...
    Anyone else got this issue?...
    Thanks
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Everyone,
I was experiencing the same. on the XP box it just wouldnt show anything period and on the Mac, the finder would briefly display the contents of the drive before disappearing. Spoke to Tier 2 and they thought I should reformat the drive, since he thought it likely that due to severing the drives connection that the format was corrupt...
I did manage to fix it myself and I'll tell you how. First I hardwired the drive via USB to the Mac. noticed an item called FROM which had no size, no date modified and type was --. I deleted the RECYCLED folder (which results when you delete something from the drive thru XP)
then i hardwired it to the PC. deleted the "FROM" folder which in this case was a file folder, and 237MB approx in size. I also deleted the ".DSStore" and ".Trashes" files. .DSStore is basically the icon cache and .Trashes is when you delete something on the airdisk from the Mac. reconnected the drive and POOF! it worked Problem is now solved.
So to summate, i think in my case it was more the discrepancy between the FROM not showing up as anything on the Mac, versus it being a full fledged folder to windows xp. i just thought i would pass this along...
