Japanese phone plan with American iPhone?

If I buy an iPhone in the united states, can I get a phone plan from a Japanese carrier?

dianneb, great question and thanks for the help Weth. The good news is if you're on More Everything the mobile hotspot would be apart of your plan just as Weth mentioned. What you just want to keep in mind is that the usage from the tablet while connected to the hotspot would take from your current plan allowance. Hope this helps!

  • Can i get a social networking plan with an iphone?

i have the choice to get a new phone, iphone or blackberry. but i want twitter and facebook when i am not in a wifi area.
can i get a social networking plan like i canw ith a blackberry?

I live in New Zealand, so don't know.... but
Data plans (and a social networking plan is essentially a data plan limited to a few services) are run by phone networks, not handset manufacturers.
So there is no reason that there would not be a data plan, or social network plan that could be available.
My phone company gives free data to facebook, so it may be possible.
You shoudl contact the phone company who sells the iPhone.
Or buy an unlocked iPhone (not sure if you can in Canada, here we can), and then choose a phone company seperatly.
    This is what I did.

  • Sync to outlook doesn't copy phone numbers with type "iphone"

I noticed that outlook is missing many phone numbers that were added from my iPhone. I then realized the pattern was that the missing numbers all had been entered with the phone type of "iphone". Other types that match predefined Outlook categories (i.e. "mobile", "work", etc) seem to work ok.
I have a 3GS, all the latest updates, Windows 7 on the desktop.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

For all of you (us) that had this problem I have found the solution!!! After hours on the phone with Apple - who were very nice, but didn't have the solution - I found the fix on Google.
You need to export your calendar to a .pst file (save it on your desktop or in an easy file to find later). Once you have exported all calendar items you'll need to select 'view All Appointments' and then delete them. This clears your entire calendar - the source of the problem is one of the appointments getting corrupted somehow. Once the calendar is clear sync your iPhone with the 'replace all calendar items' selected in the Advanced section of Info on iTunes. This should completely clear the calendar on your iPhone as well. You can then add a test appointment to your blank calendar in Outlook, sync regularly and it should appear on your iPhone. Once that test is done and things are working correctly, import your .pst file back into Outlook, restoring all of your valid appointments. Sync again and voila!
It took me the better part of two days, troubleshooting and searching to find this and hopefully this helps solve your issues as well.

  • Pre-payment plan with Apple Iphone?

Does anyone know if you can pay a year upfront or so and not deal with monthly contracts with AT&T?
    thanks

You can go with a prepaid GoPhone plan, which does not have a minimum contract requirement. The easiest way to do this is to enter 999-99-9999 instead of your social security number during the activation process. This will force a failure of the credit check and make the GoPhone plans available to you.

  • Garbled and Scrambled phone reception with 3G iphone

    HELP DESPERATELY WANTED!
I have a factory unlocked 3G iphone which I bought in Singapore. I live in Dubai and have subscribed to our local carrier's (Etisalat) 3G network.
Every single call I receive the sound comes out all garbled and scrambled and sounds like aliens talking underwater. If the caller calls back the sound is normally absolutely fine.
Obviously this is incredible frustrating as it is making my iphone almost unuseable.
I have been on the Apple support forums and this seems to be problem with the carrier aparently.
Has anyone else experienced this, and are there any tips with how to deal with it? What can I do?
    Many thanks,
    HMHB

    Dear HMHB,
What software are you running? 2.1 or before. Have you done an update though iTunes?

  • Family plan with iPhone 4

Is it possible to have a family plan with one iPhone and 3 other regular phones? Would it be the same price as a family plan of 4?

For existing subscribers, AT&T charges an $18 activation fee for the iPhone.
After using an original iPhone for a year purchasing a 3G, I was charged an $18 activation fee to activate the 3G. AT&T waived the activation fee for me when activating the iPhone 4.

  • Global phone plan

I'm studying abroad in London and I have a blackberry storm 2 9550. I took the verizon SIM card out of my phone and got a pay as you go SIM from vodafone. The service is terrible and even though I pay for blackberry services, I'm unable to use any of the services like email, bbm, or apps.
If i purchased the verizon global phone plan with data to use for the next two months, will I still be able to use all of my blackberry services? (Email, BBM, applications like facebook and whatsapp) On the vodafone network, I cannot, so I'm thinking about just purchasing the global phone plan. I rarely call or SMS when I'm over here. I would use my phone mainly for email and BBM and apps.
I'm already an addition to a family share plan so would the global phone plan be an add-on charge to my line or would I have to go on a completely different plan than my family?
It says it would be about $30 per month for 50MB of data plus calls/texts per minute/text. Does that mean I would pay $30 for the 50MB of data and if I went over 50MB, I'd have to pay additional costs?
If someone could help me out as soon as possible, that would be great.

The BBM will really only work on the VZW Global Services SIM card + roaming...
If you inserted a domestic Vodafone SIM card that should work as you saw without unlocking but maybe the phone isn't designed that way and that's why you have service degredation.
Technically it can all be fixed by doing a software/re-programming update on the BB by updating the firmware/software on the 9550 from vzw.com/blackberry.com + reconfiguring the BBM global email services onto a another carrier by calling Blackberry and telling them or Verizon to release the carrier email ID. Once that is released (ONE carrrier AT A TIME!) another carrier can add it into their systems...
Basically it's possible if you have some computer/IT knowledge...
If I were you if it was cheap just to get a pay as you go phone...
BTW did you try putting the phone into GSM/WCDMA ONLY mode in the BB network technology settings first so it saves battery life + is faster when in a GSM only country!?

  • Is it possible to record a phone conversation on my iphone 5s?

Not that I know of.  There is no setting on the phone for it.  I looked for an app once and could not find one either

  • Is the Panasonic TG7745s Cordless phone compatible to the iPhone 4S

Is the Panasonic TG7745S cordless phone compatible with the iPhone 4S?

I do not have that exact model phone but I have an almost identical Panasonic link-to-cell phone and it works fine. Link to cell is a very nice feature, much better than I had expected it to be.
Contact Panasonic support by email. You will get a reply within a day or two, which will probably confirm its compatibility.
Bear in mind link to cell uses Bluetooth, a short range communication standard. Your iPhone must remain within a few feet of the base station (not a handset). Twenty feet away, it won't work very well.

  • Verizon iphone with japanese service plan

Is it possible to use an iphone 4s that has been previously activated with Verizon with a Japanese service plan?
I'm thinking about buying an iphone but, I maybe living in Japan in the near future. Considering the cost of the device I would like to be able to utilize it to it's fullest while in Japan. But I certainly won't keep my Verizon account active while over seas. I need to know if i can use the same phone in the US before I leave and when I get there I'll be able to activate it with Japanese provider.

I don't believe you can get around this, legitimately or not. That's one of the biggest faults of using a CDMA carrier.
I imagine the person you spoke to at Verizon didn't know what they were talking about, since it would be physically impossible to bring a CDMA iPhone to their network. Sprint in the only other US CDMA carrier and they won't unlock an iPhone, so Verizon could not set it up on their network. They don't have the legal right to circumvent the lock to Sprint. Likewise, the CDMA side of a 4S purchase unlocked is completely disabled, so they would not be able to activate it on their network anyway.
As for them unlocking the phone, all they can unlock is the SIM slot, which will allow you to use a local GSM network IF there is NOT a CDMA network present. If there is a CDMA network present, it will ALWAYS use CDMA and you will pay Verizon international roaming charges. If you cancel your Verizon account, the phone will be shut down entirely. CDMA and GSM.
Your only real options are buy a phone in Japan with the realization that you will have to sell it when you're ready to come back to the States, or buy an unlocked phone and take it with you to use a local SIM while in Japan and AT&T when at home.

  • Backup phone with an iPhone plan

Does anyone know or have a definitive answer on the following?
I have an 8gb iPhone (which I love) and have a unbranded Moto KRZR as a backup phone/phone to use when I don't want to take my iPhone (golf, beach etc). Anyway, I know the iPhone SIM is swappable for VOICE service, however, what about text messages? I have no intention of using the KRZR for data at all, however, I just rec'd a text on it which surprised me. I have the 1500 txt message service with my iPhone Data plan.
Will I be charged for these texts rec'd on the KRZR? Could I be charged for Pay Per use?
I would hope not . . . but wanted to ask the question.

SMS text messages are a GSM function. They follow your phone number and, therefore, follow your SIM. Any texts sent and received on your backup phone will count toward your regular monthly allotment of text messages.
