Japanese text won't display in SWF

Hi. I have a Flash file that reads text from an XML document
and displays it in dynamic text boxes. Some of these boxes are
animated and/or rotated, so I have embedded the fonts. Everything
works great with English characters, but I need it to work on
International systems also. When the XML file contains any Japanese
characters (or any 2-byte characters), little squares appear in the
text boxes instead of the correct characters.
I can make it work if I use _sans as the font for the dynamic
text, but this can't be embedded so the text disappears if it is
rotated. I have also gotten it to work with the font Arial MS
Unicode, but this bloats the SWF from ~400k to ~7mb!
Does anyone know of any other fonts that support the high
ascii/2-byte characters? Or is there anything else I can try?
Thanks!!

Not that I know of. Your problem is that you're loading the
content
dynamically, so you have no idea what it will contain.
There's normally
no need to embed Japanese fonts for a Japanese audience,
because they
already have the main fonts, such as Mincho, Gothic, or Osaka
on their
machine. Perhaps you'll just have to give up the idea of
rotation.

  • Dynamic text won't display

I don't know if this is a bug. I have a movie that contains a
dynamic text. When I run it, the text displays fine. But when the
said movie is run through another movie clip (using loadMovie), the
dynamic text won't display. Any ideas why? Thank you.

Than again, it's a bug on your end :)
Dynamic text is a text container, it's to be use with
    dynamically given data, from
source file or variable string on timeline. It's not meant to
    be for regular text
display. You need to use Static text. The fact that you can
    see it it's just flash
being tolerant but it only lasts for as long as the movie is
    getting more complex.
You can get away with somethings even tho you should not be
    using them, does not
mean they will work all the way. Dynamic text, as said above
    is for text that comes
to flash from outside source and this is when it works best.

  • Text won't display

my text won't display properly (size and position) in premeire elements 7

    dannyellis1
What computer operating system are you running the Premiere Elements 7 program?
Is this a "it worked before but not now" type of issue or "it never worked before"?
Where is the text not displaying correctly...in the opened Titler, in the disc menu window in the Create Menus section of the program, other, or everywhere?
Is your video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
You mention size and position. What about font type?
    Also, please include:
    a. computer resources description
    b. properties of your source media
    c. project preset
    d. description of Timeline content and duration
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Flash text won't display from web

I cannot for the life of me get my "flash text" to work in
Dreamweaver. It shows up just fine in the "preview in browser"
mode, but once I put on the web, it fails to show up in any
computer I have tried--including the one I made it in where the
    preview worked.
    Any ideas

  • When I go to site, text won't display

Put up a new site, http://ghialternate.businesscatalyst.com/. When the site loads, it is just the graphics. If I mouse over some of the areas text will appear, but some never shows unless I refresh the page.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using Chrome? You have possibly encountered the bug in the most recent version of Chrome with rendering web fonts. Take a look at the following thread for more details - http://forums.adobe.com/message/6157419.

  • How to display Japanese text from an XML file

    Hiya,
I have various adapted mp3 players [called playlists on my site] which retrieve the songs and song titles/artists from an XML file. One of them plays Japanese music.
Most of the tracks are in English but I now have a couple of songs with Japanese titles and file names which I can't get to preview/display in Flash Pro CS5 [Mac]. I can type static Japanese text and it displays fine but Flash seems to be having a problem with the Japanese from the XML file.
Though I can find the English titles, etc, it would be nice if there were a way to display Japanese text from a 'multi-lingual' [English and Japanese] XML file [probably something really easy].
    Thanks a bunch.

  • SWF Won't Display in RoboHelp Project

    Hi,
I have a RoboHelp 9 HTML project that has a number of SWF files embedded in a number of the pages. The problem is the SWF won't display on the HTML page. The SWF files are published to version 11.x. The HTML pages work fine on my computer but I have Robohelp and Flash Pro installed. When I take it to any other computer in my office, the HTML pages load with no problem but the SWF files will not load onto the pages. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

So you are saying that the SWF *WAS* actually displaying but was somehow unable to present the text?
For others that may wonder about what TLF is (as I did) I'll save you the Google step.

  • Director mx 2004 won't display Flash 8 swf files & other Flash media

I have created a Flash 8 Project which has audio, video (which are converted to swf files fom flvs), flashpaper.  This application is driven by XML.
However  this application works fine outside director, but when I import the main swf file into director mx 2004 and RUN it, director won't display the videos (but I can hear the audio from the videos), Director wont show graphic images(eg menu icon movie buttons, and flash buttons). Also I can launch external files (eg text file) from flash, but again it won't work via director.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
I suggest there's no need to shout.
Try linking the Director cast member to the external swf file instead of fully importing it. You also should have the 10.1.1 update in place - this is particularly important.

  • Offline preview differs from online display of Japanese text

I can't figure out why my web site in English and Japanese cannot correctly display the Japanese type when uploaded. The offline preview is fine, but the online version turns the Japanese to gibberish. I have set the charset="UTF-8" in metatags and in the javascript code.
Thinking that I may have missed a supporting file in the upload, as a test, I downloaded the entire directory and opened the file offline, but it again works fine on my desktop. The same browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox) used for online and offline viewing.
Why won't my Japanese text display online when the offline preview is fine ?

Have you set the correct charset on your webpage?  If not try to put this within the head tags on your page:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=shift_jis">
    Hope this works.

  • Will not display Japanese text only boxes?

how can I get it to display any Japanese text from websites with out it only showing boxes
    any input would be appreciated!
The Japanese text I would love to see is
    Hiragana
    Katakana
    Kanji

Quite honestly, I think you need to go back to Flash 10.3.183.90, a version that was kept alive specifically for WinXP users. The Flash 11 and later versions have a separate plugin container that isn't available for anything below Win Vista with feature you can't even use. I see no advantage to anything newer and on the down side the newer versions are a lot more likely to crash frequently.
First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then download Flash 10.3.183.90 from here - about halfway down the page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
    (Released 6/11/2013) Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (61.1 MB)
IMO, the best version of Flash for WinXP. Adobe kept up with security updates for 10.3 for WinXP users long after Flash 11.0 came out in 2011 for Vista and newer versions of Windows.
Run the uninstaller, then reboot your operating system.
Then you can run the Flash installer, with Firefox closed, of course.
''Note, if you still use IE, you'll need to reinstall the ActiveX version of Flash for IE. That uninstaller removes all versions of Flash that might be installed,''

  • Layered text and graphic in Word won't display when converted to PDF

I have several simple shapes with text layered in front in my Word document. After they are converted to PDF using Acrobat XI, only the shape will display. I can tell the text is still there, because I can use my cursor tool to select it, but it won't display visually. It looks like it isn't there but it really is. One bit of text is even an internal link, and the link still works but I can't see the text I'm clicking on.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you,

Hi Lori - this was perfect! It was an issue with the layers being misordered. I used the Edit Text & Images tool listed under Tools > Content Editing, found the layers, then by right-clicking I was able to bring the text to the front and it all looks great now.
I would like to know why this happened, or if not why, how I could make sure it doesn't happen again. If there's a check box or other setting I could use to remove this problem that would be fantastic.
Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!

  • Japanese text display problems in applet using plugin

    Hi,
We've been beating our heads against the wall on this one for quite some time, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Our product uses a third party applet (Kavachart from Visual Engineering) to display graphical statistics from our database. We are currently localizing our product to support english and japanese. With Japanese enabled, all pages use euc-jp encoding. The problem we are running into is in the display of japanese text inside this applet in IE 5 and NS 4.7x when using the java plugin (1.3 or 1.4). If the default jre of the browsers are used, the text in the applet renders fine.
On a suggestion from the supprot folks at Visual Engineering, I modified our code to set the defaultFont parameter on the applet to "serif, 14, 1". With this set, the text in the applet renders ok in IE, but NS on windows and unix is still broken. Given that we are doing all these tests on machines running a native japanese OS, it's not even clear to me why setting the defaultFont should even be required, but at this point, I'll take anything :-)
Has anyone else run into this and either solved it or proven that a solution is not feasible? I'm at my wits end here....
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark Evangelisto
    Synchronicity Inc.

If you are using different java plugin, you need to install the international version of the JRE; otherwise, some characters may not be able to display correctly since some of the properties files are missing.
As for Visual Engineering's suggestion. I don't know why they tell you to set the default font on the applet because it may cause the browser to use the font specified. Your applet works on IE because it will try to use the best font to match the web page's content. For NS anything less then 6.0 (technology based on Mozilla), they never display web page correctly especially if you did what VE suggest.
If you are running the applet on the native langauge OS with the international version of the JRE installed, the applet should display correctly without setting the default font. If it is not the native langauge OS, first you need to install the international version of the JRE and have the fonts that are able to display the language the applet use.

  • Report Viewer Control not displaying Japanese Text fetched from a file.

    Hi,
I am using Crystal Report 2008.
I want my report to display values read from text file ( this file contains key = value pairs ), for this I have created a ufl ( created as .net dll and also tested correctly).  The text file contains keys in english and theirs values in Japanese hence this text file is in UTF-8 format.
As said above the .net dll was tested with a .net application and the japanese values were returned correctly.
But using the same function as ufl in crystal report displays ???????? for same japanese text.
I have already installed the Japanese language pack for crystal report.
Please help as soon as possible.
    Thanks.
