JAR app reading text from .cfg file

I wrote an application that needs to read txt a file. The file is saved as a .cfg file. I access it with the getResource() method:
url = myClass.class.getResource("desiredFile.cfg");
Before I jar it, it runs fine (in JBuilder). Then, when I jar the app and I run the .jar, it gave me the following error:
file:\C:\ES\ES.jar!\es\textFile.cfg (The system cannot find the path specified)
The wierd thing is that my app also plays audio from a .wav file, and it has no problem with that. I access the .wav file the same way:
url = myClass.class.getResource("desiredFile.wav");
And it plays the audio just fine!
How can I read from the .cfg???
Please help!!! Thanks!

use myclass.class.getResourceAsStream("desiredFile.cfg") this will return you an InputStream, so you'll be able to use a FileReader, or whatever your favourite reader is.

    The jar files which were used are downloaded from http://jarfinder.com. Those jars created the problem of displaying those messages on console. I downloaded APIs from apache.org and used them in my application. Now my application is running good.

  • Read text in pdf files

    Hi Ppl,
    Is it possible to read text from pdf file ? We can use activex controls to open and display pdf files, but these activex doesn seem to support reading of text from these pdf files. Help me out plz.
    Thanks

    The full PDF format is VERY complex. Probably the reason why PDFBox was choking on one of the PDF files of a former poster. You are of course free to implement a PDF parser in LabVIEW but expect this to be a project where a man year of effort certainly won't be enough to even get close to what PDFBox can do. Then decide if you want to give it away for free just for the good karma of it, or attempt to sell it with a potential of maybe one license every year.
    Just look at the opposite direction: Creating a PDF file from within LabVIEW. There are several Toolkits out there who can do that and they already took a considerable amount of time to develop. Yet the generation of a small subset of PDF features in a file is several exponents easier than parsing and interpreting any exisiting PDF document that might have been created by tools like Adobe Acrobate, with Adobe as the creater of PDF potentially using all the bells and whistles they eventually put into the PDF standard over those two or more decades, including quite a few bugs that eventually got documented as a feature.

  • Indesign CS3-JS - Problem in reading text from a text file

    Can anyone help me...
    I have an problem with reading text from an txt file. By "readln" methot I can read only the first line of the text, is there any method to read the consecutive lines from the text file.
    Currently I am using Indesign CS3 with Java Script (for PC).
    My Java Script is as follows........
    var myNewLinksFile = myFindFile("/Links/NewLinks.txt")
    var myNewLinks = File(myNewLinksFile);
    var a = myNewLinks.open("r", undefined, undefined);
    myLine = myNewLinks.readln();
    alert(myLine);
    function myFindFile(myFilePath){
    var myScriptFile = myGetScriptPath();
    var myScriptFile = File(myScriptFile);
    var myScriptFolder = myScriptFile.path;
    myFilePath = myScriptFolder + myFilePath;
    if(File(myFilePath).exists == false){
    //Display a dialog.
    myFilePath = File.openDialog("Choose the file containing your find/change list");
    return myFilePath;
    function myGetScriptPath(){
    try{
    myFile = app.activeScript;
    catch(myError){
    myFile = myError.fileName;
    return myFile;
    Thanks,
    Bharath Raja G

    Hi Bharath Raja G,
    If you want to use readln, you'll have to iterate. I don't see a for loop in your example, so you're not iterating. To see how it works, take a closer look at FindChangeByList.jsx--you'll see that that script iterates to read the text file line by line (until it reaches the end of the file).
    Thanks,
    Ole

  • Reading long text from excel file to an internal table

    Hi
    Can any body tell me how to read long text from excel file to an internal table.
    When i am using this FM KCD_EXCEL_OLE_TO_INT_CONVERT then it is reading only 32 characters from each cell.
    But in my excel sheet in one of the cell has very long text which i need to upload into a internal table.
    may i know which FM or what logic i need to use for this problem.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Here is an example program.  It will upload an Excel file with two columns.  You could also assign the Excel structure dynamically, but I wanted to keep the example simple.  The main point is that the internal table (it_excel in this example) must match the Excel structure that you want to convert.
    Remember, this is just an example to help you figure out how to properly use the technique.  It will certainly need to be modified to fit your requirements, and as always there may be a better way to get the Excel converted... this is just one possibility that has worked for me in the past.

  • Read data from Excel file and diaplay in Webdynpro

    Hi all,
    I need some help. I have a Excel file with set of  name, phonenumbers . I want to know how to display the data using Webdynpro. Could some one help me. help is appreciated and I promise to award points for right answer.
    Thank you
    Maruti

    <b>Hi
    i can explain you to read data from Excel file
    First You have to download the jxl.jar file. You can get this file from the Below site
    </b><a href="http://www.andykhan.com/jexcelapi/download.html">jexcelapi jar</a>
    It will be in Compressed Fromat So Unzip it to get the Contents
    After Unzipping The File You will get a Folder (jexcelapi/jxl.jar)
    Now in NWDS open web dynpro explorer, Right Click Your Project, a popup menu will appear and in that click Properties
    You will get window displaying your Project Properties
    On Left Side of the window You Will Find "Java Build Path"
    Click That "Java Build Path" and you will get 4 Tabs Showing ( Source,Projects,Libraries,Order and Export)
    Click Libraries Tab
    You will find options many options buttons
    In that click the Button "Add External Jars"
    You will get Window in order to fecth the jxl.jar file from the location you had stored
    After selecting the jxl.jar i will get displayed and click ok
    Now Open Navigator
    Open Your Project
    You will find Lib folder
    Copy the jxl.jar to that lib folder
    Note : You cannot Read the Content from the excel file directly
    First You Have to copy that file to the Server,
    And from the Server you can get the file absolute path
    With the absolute path you can read the contents of the Excel file
    You have to save the Excel file as .xls Format and Not as xlsx format i will not accept that...
    You have Upload the Excel file from the Server Using the File Upload UI Element
    This Coding will extract 3 columns from the Xls File
    Coding

  • How to read text from PDF and HTML

    I have got solution to read text form .txt file but did'nt get code for PDF and HTML.
    I dont want to convert PDF to txt.
    Please help me ...

    reading from a file is always the same. using the same strategy used for a .txt will allow you to read a .pdf file.
    Offcourse in itself it will be useless becuase pdf files have a special internal structure.
    html files are identical to txt files.
    What are you trying to accomplisch with the files you are reading ?

      Element trackTimeElement = document.createElement("time");
      trackTimeElement.appendChild(document.createTextNode(track1Time));
      trackElement.appendChild(trackTimeElement);
      // Track rating element called <rating>, placed underneath <track>
      Element trackRatingElement = document.createElement("rating");
      trackRatingElement.appendChild(document.createTextNode(track1Rating));
      trackElement.appendChild(trackRatingElement);
    OutputFormat format = new OutputFormat();
    format.setIndenting(true);
    // Create a new XMLSerializer that will be used to write out the XML
    // This time we will serialize it to the socket
    // #3 change this line so that it serializes to the socket,
    // not to the "out" object
    XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(writer, format);
    serializer.serialize(document);
            // Print out a message to indicate the end of the data, and
            // flush the stream so all the data gets sent now
            sockOut.println("<!--QUIT-->");
            sockOut.flush();
            BufferedReader stdIn = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
            String fromServer;
            String fromUser;
             #4 add a while loop that reads text from the
            server socket input stream, line by line, and prints
            it out to the web page, using out.println(...);
            Note that because the reply from the server will contain
            XML, you will need to call upon the toHTMLString() method
            defined below to escape the < and > symbols so that they
            will display correctly in the web browser.
            Also note that as you receive the reply back from the
            server, you should look out for the special <!--QUIT-->
            string that will indicate when there is no more data
            to receive.
            while ((fromServer = sockIn.readLine()) != null) {
            out.println(sockIn.readLine());
                // If the reply from the server said "QUIT", exit from the
                // while loop by using a break statement.
                if (fromServer.equals("QUIT")) {
                    out.println("Connection closed - good bye ...");
                // Print the text from the server out to the user's screen
                out.println("Reply from Server: " + fromServer);
                // Now read a line of text from the keyboard (typed by user)
                fromUser = stdIn.readLine();
                // If it wasn't null, print it out to the screen, and also
                // print a copy of it out to the socket
                if (fromUser != null) {
                    out.println("Client: " + fromUser);
                    sockOut.println(fromUser);
            // Close all the streams we have open, and then close the socket
            sockOut.close();
            sockIn.close();
            mySocket.close();
    %>
    I'm suppose to modify the commented sections labled with #.
    #1,2 are correct but i have doubts on the 3rd and 4th modification.
    for #3 i changed so i serializes to the socket not to the "out" object:
    from
    XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(out, format);
    to
    XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(writer, format);
    with "out" it prints out some of the results entered but it just hangs i'm thinking it might be the while loop that i added in #4. If i changed it to serialize the socket XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(writer, format); it doesn't print out nothing at all; just a blank screen where it hangs.
    I can post the rest of the code (server thats in java and cdinput.html) but since i want to keep my post short and if required i'll post it later on i also omitted some of the code where it creates the DOM textnodes etc to keep my post short.

    On your previous thread, why did you say the server was using http POST and application/xml content type when it quite obviously isn't, but a direct socket communication that abuses XML comments for message end delimiters?
    The comments imply you need to wait for "<!--QUIT-->" on a line by itself, but your loop is waiting for "QUIT".

    is there a way to  have the iPad 2 "read" text from iBooks as with web sites or pages? A different App perhaps?

    Isn't that you asking how to get it (undefined) back?
    If you never had Pages '09, you can buy it from Amazon very cheaply:

    I can able to set the hyperlink.. But i cant able to get the hyperlinks..

    import com.lowagie.text.Document;
    import com.lowagie.text.DocumentException;
    import com.lowagie.text.Paragraph;
    import com.lowagie.text.html.HtmlWriter;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfReader;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfWriter;
    public class Argu1 {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              Document document = new Document();
              try {
                   PdfWriter pdf = PdfWriter.getInstance(document,
                             new FileOutputStream("PageLink.pdf"));

                   document.add(new Paragraph("Hi Everbody....!"));
                   Anchor pdfRef = new Anchor("Click Me");
                   pdfRef.setReference("www.java2s.com");
                   Anchor rtfRef = new Anchor("Touch Me");
                   rtfRef.setReference("www.sun.com");
                   System.out.println(rtfRef.reference());
                   document.add(pdfRef);
                   document.add(Chunk.NEWLINE);
                   document.add(rtfRef);
              } catch (DocumentException de) {
                   System.err.println(de.getMessage());
              } catch (IOException ioe) {
                   System.err.println(ioe.getMessage());
              document.close();
    Help me how to read the Hyperlinks from the PDF file using java ...
    Thanks in advance,
    With Regards,
    J.Imran

    Instead of cross-posting unformatted code you could have taken a look at the API, because there you might have come across a method named getLinks...Even though it's not documented, I really suspect that it will return the Hyperlinks on a given page.

  • Editing text from pdf file

    how to edit text from pdf file?

    Adobe Reader does not allow editing the text of a PDF document. You will need to get Acrobat on your Windows or Mac to do that.

  • I cant use the highlight, underline, or strikethrough function in a specific pdf file. The file isnt locked. I used to highlight texts from that file before the latest update. The problem occurs only with that file. Urgent need. Please help. Thanks!

    Chester31,
    Thank you very much for sharing your file with us!  Now that we are able to reproduce the problem at our end, you may stop sharing the file on Acrobat.com.
    Do you know when this problem (for not being able to add new highlight/strikeout/underline) has started?  Did you update your iOS from 7.x to 8.0 recently?
    We will continue investigating the problem and let you know what we find.
    Thank you again for your help.
