Jar file from netbeans won't run when doubleclicked
Hello,
I've just completed my first java application using netbeans (just a simple "hello world"), it runs fine in the netbeans ide, but when I located the .jar file and double clicked it, nothing happens. I've already verified that the file extension .jar is associated with javaw.exe so that's not the problem.
Anyone how to fix this problem?
Thanks!

My guess is he posted something and then edited it and put in nvm for NeVer Mind.
In NetBeans I would try this to make sure the main class setting is fully saved with new version of NetBeans
press Ctrl+1 to go to projects tab
Right click your project click Properties
on left click Run
Make sure you don't have anything in Arguments or VM Options because javaw will read use either of these settings.
Click Browse next to Main Class and click your class again and click Select Main Class. Then click OK to rewrite the settings.
Right click your project and do "Clean And Build".
Let us know if this works or not

Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line
I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Has anybody seen this before, and if so how can I fix it?:

If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:

Manifest-Version: 1.0
JavaFX-Version: 2.0

In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur. -
Running a jar file from java code
Hi!
Im trying to run a jar file from my code.
I've tried Classloader, but that doesnt work because it doesnt find the images (also embedded in the 2nd jar file).
WHat I would like to do is actually RUN the 2nd jar file from the first jar file. There must be a way to do this right?
any ideas?ok, I found some wonderful code (see below) that will try to start the jar. But it doesn't. What it does is produce the following error when my application runs...
So it's not finding the images in the jar file that I am trying to run? Strange. I checked the URL that sending, but it seems ok....
I think I will check the url again to make sure......
any ideas?

Running .jar files from Java code
Hi.
I am designing a sort of platform to run some games which are saved in .jar files. Basically this platform is a menu from which the user can select the game which he/she wants to run. It also has the feature of adding new games.
Is is possible to run the .jar file from within java code?
Thanks for any help!
Krt_maltaJust list the jar in the classpath list and call the class in the jar.

Running jar files from the command line
I have always felt it would be useful to run a jar file from th command line in EXACTLY the same way as an EXE. On some systems, typing MYAPP.JAR will run the app, but doesn't output and command line data, so it only works for GUI apps. I've come up with a tiny C program that runs java -jar xxxx.jar for you.
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <process.h>
void main(int argc,char *argv[])
char cmd[1024];
strcpy(cmd,"java -jar ");
strcat(cmd,argv[0]);
strcat(cmd,".jar");
for(int arg=1;arg<argc;arg++)
strcat(cmd," ");
strcat(cmd,argv[arg]);
system(cmd);
}Simply compile this to an exe, rename the exe to the name of your jar file and put it in the same directory. Then just type 'MyJarFile' (no jar extension) and it should run. It passes all command live args as well. Comments ?Here's a better version. The JAR and the EXE can be anywhere in the PATH:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <process.h>
void main(int argc,char *argv[])
char jar[1024];
char cmd[1024];
strcpy(cmd,argv[0]);
strcat(cmd,".jar");
_searchenv(cmd,"PATH",jar);
strcpy(cmd,"java -jar ");
strcat(cmd,jar);
for(int arg=1;arg<argc;arg++)
strcat(cmd," ");
strcat(cmd,argv[arg]);
system(cmd);

How to call a jar file from oracle forms (6i)
Hi,
I'm working with oracle 6i. I want to know that how to call a .jar file from forms menu. when I use HOST('<path>\test.jar') it is working in 'Client Server' any way. but the problem is I use application server in order to run my form. so my form is in the server and I run the form via clients web browser. in that case above solution will not work. if any body knows how to overcome this problem please reply.
thanks.
dumindaI created a bean area and set the class name as implementation class. within that java bean class I called to a bat file which consists of the execution command of the jar file ( because i don't know how to call .jar file from my bean class directly).
then i tried to run it in application server. its still not running.
can you tell me what i have to do within my bean class? or can you suggest any solution?
thank you. -
Access jar file from in-memory classes...
I have some classes that I compile to memory and everything works fine until one class that must access some external jar files. I have been unable to access those jar files from disk after trying every suggestion using URLClassLoader. I even tried someone's example to hack the SystemClassLoader which properly adds the jar file paths, but still they can't be seen. The only way it works is if I put the files in the jdk/jre/lib/ext directory. Then everything works fine. There must be a way to load the jar files in memory as well as the class files so they can be accessible. Has anyone done anything like this? Is it possible? Even though the class files are in memory, why would the jar files not be seen even when they are added to the same URLClassLoader's URL's. Thanks.
Sorry that wasn't clear. What I mean is that the classes are compiled to byte code directly to memory and no physical .class file is created. Yes, I'm using my own ClassLoader that extends URLClassLoader and I'm setting the parent to ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader(). I also should mention that I'm doing this inside a Netbeans module that is part of a Netbeans Platform application. I don't know why that should matter though, since I'm trying to do everything in memory without creating the physical files. Thanks.

How to protect my jar file from being downloaded
How can i protect my jar file from being downloaded by users by accessing it through the web site.
Now everybody can just type the url www.mysite.com/applets/myApplet.jar
And download it to his computer.
I realize that anybody who really wants to download it he will get it anyway, but I want to make it harder.
thanks in advanceYour browser has to download the jar file if it's going to run the applet. That's applets work. The browser downloads the classes and then runs them locally.
I suppose if you wanted to make something to make it difficult for users to explicitly download the jar, you could set some kind of permission flag when the HTML is page is rendered, and then unset it some amount of time (10 seconds?) later, and then only let the user download the jar when the flag is set. But this would be fragile and irritating and unhelpful. It would probably break more than you'd like and not prevent download very much (it wouldn't take long to figure out what was happening), and besides nobody is ever going to try to steal your code. -

Tom
May i presume that your cluster is configured on a shared file system?.
I have seen this problem only if you cluster is configured on different machines
and if the directory structure is not identical.
let us know..

How can I get a single jar file with NetBeans?
How can I get a single jar file with NetBeans?
When I create the project I get these files:
dist/lib/libreria1.jar
dist/lib/libreria2.jar
dist/software.jar
The libraries that have been imported to create the project are in separate folders:
libreria1/libreria1.jar
libreria2/libreria2.jar
libreria1, libreria2, dist folders are all located inside the project folder.
I added the following code to the build.xml:
<target name="-post-jar">
<jar jarfile="dist/software.jar">
<zipfileset src="${dist.jar}" excludes="META-INF/*" />
<zipfileset src="dist/lib/libreria1.jar" excludes="META-INF/*" />
<zipfileset src="dist/lib/libreria2.jar" excludes="META-INF/*" />
<manifest>
<attribute name="Main-Class" value="pacco.classeprincipale"/>
</manifest>

</target>
Of course there is also the project folder:
src/pacco/classeprincipale.form
src/pacco/classeprincipale.java
Can you tell me what is wrong? The error message I get is as follows:
C:...\build.xml:75: Problem creating jar: archive is not a ZIP archive BUILD FAILED (total time: 2 seconds)This is not a NetBeans forum, it is a JDeveloper forum. You might want to try http://forums.netbeans.org/. I also saw your other question - try looking in the New to Java forum: New To Java

How to load jar files from remote location
Hi all,
I am trying to load jar files from remote server, from a servlet which is running on OC4j.
For doing this,First I am getting ClassLoader by using ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader() and then type casting it to URLClassLoader.
But by doing it I am getting ClassCastException,because oc4j returns oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader instead of java.net.ClassLoader.
Appreciate if anyone can tell me how to load remote jar files using oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader .
Thanks
HarishHi,
I suppose you know about this, but just in case.
I have used jnpl to load jar files from remote location.

Moving all jar files from our applcation to applib folder on server
Hi,
In our project we have three web applications bundled into a EAR file,to reduce the upload size we had a plan of moving all the jar files from WEB-INF/lib to the applib folder in the standalone server, but after moving i tried to run the application I get the following error,can someone help on this?
login: JspServlet: unable to dispatch to requested page: Exception:oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException: /jsp
/common/page1.jsp: Line # 5, <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af"%>Hi,
appears that it cannot find teh tag library. However, I think the right way of sharing libraries is to read into the topic of shared library support of the server you are working with

Creating an exacutable jar file in netbeans
Hey, how can i create an exacutable jar file in netbeans ?
i guess you already have a project created, if you don't create a new java application project.
Then you need to do the following:
1. Set the main class. This is the class that will run first.
for this you need to right click in the project node, select properties, then run and in the Main Class field put the main class.
2. Set the classpath: you need to put all the libraries or resources you use in your project.
to do that right click the libraries node, select properties, then add library and add all the libraries that your project needs
by doing this steps netbeans will create your manifest file and the jar that will create will be executable.
Hope this helps.

Adding jar file in my gerareted jar file using netbean 4.0
Hi,
I write an application de process XML file using JDOM. I add the JDom package jar file to my project and everything work fine. But when I generate, my project jar file using netbean 4.0, my generated jar, is not working with the XML files anymore. Everything seems like it didn't include the JDOM jar file?
Thanks for any help to fix the problem.I find that you can not use command-line such as java -classpath add classpath
it can not work, I use netBeans4.0 i don't whether because of netbeans or java itself.
you can add classpath in jar's Manifest.mf file
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Ant-Version: Apache Ant 1.6.2
Created-By: 1.5.0_01-b08 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
Main-Class: chat.Main
// add this line
Class-Path: dir\*.jar //(jar file name)
X-COMMENT: Main-Class will be added automatically by build
