.jar (Java) Problem - Nokia 5800 XM

I am having a problem with installing .jar (java) games/apps to my phone.
What happens is that it starts installing and then "hangs" at around 75% and the phone doesn't do anything for about 30 secs, the phones seems "hang". I cant run any .jar file because of that. Is this a known problem ? What can i do to fix this ?.
I tried copying the files to the phone and install from there but the same problem occurs.
I have the certification set to ALL.
I get no error just the "hang" problem.
Can anyone help me? getting frustrated!

nvm, found the solution now .... they are slide buttons ..... feeling a bit stupid now

I bought myself a nokia 5800 , great phone , but now I have a problem.
I transferred a mp4 movie from my pc to my phone and now I only get sound and no images , does anybody have any idea what to do about this?

MPEG-4 has several flavors ("levels" ) -- see the WIkipedia entry for H.264. I doubt the 5800 supports all of them, but offhand I don't know which levels it does support.

Easy Reject Problem @ Nokia 5800

Hi,
I have Easy reject pre-installed at my Nokia 5800. I have activated same and using, But what i observe after sometime, This swre start rejecting all calls[known & Unknown] which is not listed in their filter list.. Pl advise and help...

Your information is incorrect. You might have better luck searching with correct information.
Both the N95 and the 5800 are SymbianOS9. V9.2 for the N95 and V9.4 for the 5800 to be more precise.

A strange mp4 problem - nokia 5800

I just bought a new phone - nokia 5800, V31.0.101
I can't play any of my mp4 files. Even the original ones. It shows me a white screen with some blinking lines. I can nearly see the video I want to watch. Too many blinking things etc. I tried to record an mp4 video, same. I can record it but when I want to play it, I see that white screen.

Hi, if you can't play pre-installed films or video tken by the phone, and you just bought it, then I would return it and insist on replacement/repair . The phone could work correctly with a software update or a hard reset, but if it's a brand new phone you shouldn't be having to do this. Contact your supplier and insist on a solution, try for replacement. 5800 is a good media phone and sounds like you've been unlucky .

Small MAPS problem Nokia 5800

Hi. When in Drive mode, I want display to time out until I touch the screen. Dunno if it's something in my setup ... used to time out after a minute or so, which is just what I want. Reason: I use this beast for nav when cycling and if maps are always displayed, batt flattens quickly.
I've got Settings>Phone>Display time-out set 10 second. So how to make screen blank after a few seconds please? Incidentailly, just upgraded to V50 and latest Maps couple of days ago. Before that it worked well!

Problem nokia 5800 XM after upgrade to V50.

When the phone is locked and I receive a call or an alarm from my calendar, then I see the new buttons on the screen, but they don't work.
When I receive a call, I first have to unlock the phone to be able to answer it.
For my calendar, when I receive an alarm for a birthday for example, then I see the buttons to stop the alarm and so, but they don't work. Here I can't even unlock the phone first to choose a button after it. I have to turn off my phone (or remove battery for a sec when turning off doesn't work too) to get out of the screen.
Any ideas someone?

1. music player have too much problem and player hang too much,too much ,too much.and earased playlist and all songs in playlist and from music player then i should earase songs from my phone then retransfer to phone
2.music player sometimes hang at the end of song and I should restart my phone!!!
3.Oh INTERNET!often when I work with internet and click above a link phone hanging and restart browser and I huffy!!!
4.messageing has not recently use numbers and I should alwayes add my numbers from contacts but nokia java mobiles in part of "To" has recently used numbers shortcut!!!
5.when dialling a number and failed,I should heare the error trump for 7 second and don,t disconnect with any key!!!!
6.after i update my GPS some of entertainments isn,t in new version, such as take photo from map nad altimeter and ...!!!
7.photo camera has not sound off or intercept the voice!!!

You yourself said you work with an SLR camera, and if you look through the viewfinder, you see that the camera lens sees the view in a "square" ratio as well like the phone. Creating software to render a picture in 16:9 ratio is just simply creating software that cuts off the reception of light in the top and bottom part of the picture so as to create a 16:9 effect. Meaning the camera is not utilizing the full 3.2 megapixels of the phone, and the result is just the same as getting the picture you took and editing it on your PC to show a 16:9 ratio.

Problem with NOKIA 5800 Music Express

Hi all,
My NOKIA 5800 hasnt been working properly for some time. I can not make a call using my phone book (only if i dial the number i can call) though incoming call can be received. Apart from that, when i try to navigate tomy memory card, i cant anything rather than some less important files though i can find those floders when using via pc! Lots of other problems.
From this discussion (/t5/Phone-Applications/Antivirus-for-5800/m-p/426338) i find out that its not necessary to use antivirus if properly used. But the thing is, i let my mom and sister use this phone for like 6 months, there was internet connection. So, i am not sure whether they did something wrong which led to these problems. Before that everything was fine.
Help me guys! I am freaking out!

i agree with farby.. Do a soft/hard reset.. *#7370# code is 12345..
Note: virus cant infect ur device memory.. But it can infect ur memory card nd corrupt it.. So scan ur memory card wd antivirus on computer... If no virus is found and ur card is unreadable, format ur memory card.. Before formattin backup data as much possible..

My problem is when i try to update my nokia 5800 with the nokia software updater it says my current firmware is version 31.0.101, update version is also 31.0.101. I know there is a new version available,can anyone help me out please.

New firmware update for nokia 5800 is available for India. We are able to update it through Pc suit software update but nokia care is saying that no such official update is available. Lots of people already upgraded to new version and they are facing many problems. 1. Same is the case. However, this is not a problem and digitally locked files are supposed to work this way. The solution would be to visit the nearest Nokia care center and have this unlocked, or wait hoping that Nokia would release OTA unlocking similar to N95

Nokia 5800 menu problem

I have a problem with my nokia 5800. A red menu bar keeps flashing up intermittently rendering all other functions useless. i have tried cleaning the screen but it still keeps doing it. any suggestions before i throw it out the window as its driving me mad!

Nokia 5800 [ Screen and phone problems]

I got a problem with my nokia 5800 screen,
sometimes when my brightness is bellow 80% 2-3 flikering lines apear wherever i am ( home screen, watching a video, browser,call someone etc.)
when brightness is at 80% its normal always( maybe of the high brightness i may not see the lines)
however this is annoying and i want to know if i can do anything about it !
on top of that my phones shuts down suddenly on its own randomly!
the phone is functioning well running app without any problem and watching videos !

The 5800 is getting on in years now so it's definitely a hardware issue your facing. Your best bet is to visit a Nokia Care Point and see if it's worth the cost of repair otherwise you'd be better off getting a new phone.

I updated my NOKIA 5800 from v40 to v50 through over-the-air.
I didn't got all the features like quickoffice, cherry 2.1, Ovi music, Lifecasting, Rihanna servicelauncher.....etc
My update package was only of 9.8 MB.Now I too can't reinstall the update through my NSU or OVI updater as the latest version of NSU is not showing any option to reinstall or repair...Please help in solving the problem . I want all the features of v50.0.005 in my NOKIA 5800.THANKS..

If the update is not available for you, then its not. Just wait for it
Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Hi i was facing similar problem here in bangalore(India)
All you Need to Do is to stay in some open area(Outside your house or anywhere)
1.Open Maps
2.click on My location
and Keep the device searching for satellites (there are 6 of them) .
it would take at max 45 minutes
3.Be patient for 45minutes
4.Dont forget to load MAps for your country
5.Nokia GPS works without any need of Wifi or Telecom operator for
Nokia Maps
6.If you have google maps installed ,
GPS will work too ,but it will ask for WIfi connection or network operator to download maps
7.Nokia location application is awesome
you can see you speed,navigate and do lots of things
but google Maps is no less
[just it needs some connection to download maps from internet ]
