The password would be one you set yourself. If you have no data on the tablet that you need then entering a wrong password one more time will just wipe the tablet of all data and let you set it up again.

  • I Beta tested 4.0 RC1 and now can not upgrade to 4.0. Error message is need to reboot to complete prior instalation. Have removed all previous versions of Firefox, rebooted and still same error message.

I Beta tested up to and including 4.0 RC1 without major problems. However I can not now upgrade to 4.0. Same error message time and again, "need to reboot to complete prior upgrade instalation". I rebooted several times, then tried first removing all previous versions of Firefox using both MS Add/Remove and then iolo System Mechanic, then again downloading 4.0. Even after rebooting same error message. I can not therefore install/use Firefox.

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Hi guys
    Have recieved the following information.
Registration for Beta test of Nokia PC Suite release 6.84 has started!
Please look for more information at

Beta testing is not about new features - it's about making sure the features of the Beta version work correctly.
I was part of the 6.83 Beta test, but unfortunately I did not receive my new computer early enough submit the multitude of problems I'm experiencing under Vista. Hopefully I'll be selected to be part of the 6.84 Beta test.
They DO listen to feedback about the Beta. I raised an ongoing issue from previous versions relating to dates in sent messages (they were all dated in 1601 or something) and within a couple of Beta refreshes, the problem was fixed.
Let's hope they continue to improve this rather buggy and unreliable software.

What is the best way to find a Salesforce.com "Enterprise" or "Unlimited" user who has 1000 or more contacts in their database? I am trying to beta test a very cool new plug-in connector that auto-updates and syncs info between SF and CoolerEmail, which will be provided. Not sure this is the right forum but I couldn't find a related CRM one. All help appreciated.

  • TOSHIBA Please Read - Beta Testing and Developer Community

    Hello Jim,
I wanted to respond to your posting about the status of the update but the thread has been locked, so I started a new one. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a chance that we could get a beta test version of the software provided to experienced and brave individuals that can report back to the dev team with various issues and bugs to be fixed?
The public beta will not only appease the people angry at Toshiba for missing the deadline for the update, but also provide necessary feedback to the development team that can be used to create a more feature complete update. As an Android developer myself, I would take every oppurtunity to report bugs and issues and even provide code to help implement fixes for various issues if said source is availible. I believe it would be a great idea for Toshiba to create an open source development community on these forums and to provide us with bleeding edge code for us to implement and mess around with.
Such communities already exist on various sites like XDA Developers but not with vendor support, if Toshiba provided a vendor-supported developer community around the Thrive and other Android devices such as the Excite and Folio. With a vendor supported community, we would have a place where Toshiba can make better software for the devices and developers and brave regular users can participate in the process of getting updates for our various devices. I believe that moving away from such a closed development environment would not only help Toshiba develop better devices and software, but also give the company a leg up on its competitors who do not have such a community pitching in allowing for better software to be coded.
I hope that this message is read by someone at Toshiba that can make this happen, as the benefits are truly mutual, since Toshiba would be getting better software for its devices and developers get the resources and code needed to turn Toshiba into one of the best supporters of this great open-source project.
If anyone from Toshiba would like to contact me to help coordinate such an undertaking, I may be reached at [email protected]
    Thank You For Your Time,
    Rob Gries
    Android Developer

    Hi Rob,
Thanks for the thoughtful message. Your points are well made and, while I don't disagree that there are mutual benefits, Toshiba has no current plans for directly building or supporting a developer community.
On the other hand, private beta testing for the Thrive product line was first launched last summer and I expect it to be ongoing as major software updates reach reasonably usable states within the development process. However, you won't see discussion of beta testing in the message boards because beta testers are under NDA.
Thanks again for the thoughts and for your interest in developing for Thrive!
    Jim

  • Movie Creator Beta Testing

We just wanted to let you know!
The Movie Creator development team has a Google+ Community where they communicate with their Beta test users. Anyone can join this group. In the community you are able to influence the coming software by giving feedback on the beta software or even propose new ideas for the application.
The information you give on this community is seen as very important but as the team is rather small it sometimes might take some time to get answers.
You will find more information about how to become a beta tester and the limitations that comes with it on the community.
Beta test will be started from End of May. Welcome!

Yes, I have also noticed this.. The problem I have is booking the exam. I went into my prometric account to see if I can book this exam, but unfortunately I couldn’t find it ?. Also does anybody know the cost of the exam in GBP, as I can only see reference to the price of the exam in USD.You need to book this through Pearson VUE. • Beta Testing and UDID

    Hello;
I am going to be beta testing a new app from a developer, but in order to do so I need to send them my phone's UDID. My question is, is there any major concern in disclosing the UDID? Is there something that someone can do maliciously if they were to get a hold of it, or is it relatively safe to give out and not have to worry about it getting out?
    Thanks for the help!
    Brad

Perhaps you missed the bolded bit below from the public beta program page?:
    How can I participate?
To join the OS X Beta Program, just sign up using your Apple ID. When the beta software is ready, you’ll receive a redemption code that will allow you to download and install OS X Yosemite Beta from the Mac App Store. Then go ahead and start using it. When you come across an issue that needs addressing, report it directly to Apple with the built-in Feedback Assistant application. "

  • Beta test - View Management Utility

We are currently beta-testing a new software application called View Management Utility (VMU).  VMU is a screen management utility which helps you utilize a large external monitor more effectively.  Please read below to see if this is something you might be interested in.  If you are, and you decide to try it out, please let us know your feedback.  Download links will be provided in the next post.
    Features and Benefits
    Screen divison
One screen can be divided into multiple grids, and different spilt plans are provided:
    【None】:No grid mode is available.
【Single】:This grid mode treats the screen as a whole..
【Double(Vertical)】:This grid mode divides the screen vertically into two parts.
【Double(Horizontal)】:This grid mode divides the screen horizontally into two parts.
【Triple (Primary at left)】:This grid mode divides the screen into three parts with the primary part on the left.
【Triple (Primary at right)】:This grid mode divides the screen into three parts with the primary part on the right.
【Quad】:This grid mode divides the screen into four parts.
    Customized split plan
If the factory default plan doesn’t fit the user’s requirement, user can create their own split plan
    Grid's display properties
User can set the display properties for the grids, and below three grids display functions are provided:
【Always on top】function makes the selected grid always displayed on top.
【Focused】function makes the selected grid brighter than the others (other grids area become dark).
【Full Screen】function makes files displayed in full screen in that grid, e.g. (IE, multimedia player, powerpoint& else)
Binding a software to a grid
User can bind a software to a grid, e.g.(IE, Multimedia player), but one grid can only bind one software at a time. If the software executes at full screen mode, the grid will be autofilled.
    Supporting Skype
In each grids's setting interface, three Skype window types are provided for binding, they are “Skype List”, “Skype Call”, and “Skype Share”, need to notice that One grid can only bind one type of the Skype, and one type of the Skype cannot bind twice.
    VMU window properties
Four window properties are provided by the VMU menu.
    【Transparent window】:after checked,the window will be transparent.
【Always on top】:after checked, the window will be always top of others.
【Lock in grid】:The grid mode is applied by default. Selecting Lock in grid indicates that the current window can use the current grid mode. That is, the window will populate the gird once it is moved into a grid. If Lock in grid is deselected, it indicates that the selected gird mode will not be applied to the current window. That is, the window can move freely on the screen.
【Move to grid】:after checked, user can move the current window to another grid.
    Three monitor display modes supported
The VMU supports three monitor display modes
【mode 1】display on the main monitor only, not on the external monitor.
【mode 2】extend the desktop to the external monitor, i.e., the extended display mode.
【mode 3】the external monitor duplicates the display contents of the main monitor, i.e., the clone display mode

I've been testing the View Management Utility on my Thinkpad X220 (4291-37G) running Windows 7 64-BIT in UEFI mode (in the Dutch Language).
The first thing i noticed when launching the application from the Lenovo Thinkvantage Tools program, is that you get a  Startup screen, in order to move on and get to the actual application you have to click close button (red x). To me it would seem far more logical to incorporate a OK button or something of that nature.
When I've actually started the application it appears not to be running, it's only after you click the settings button on the taskbar icon that it will show the actual application.
After playing with it for some time i found out that to actually use a grid you should close the setting menu and drag it to the grid you want the program to be running in, the grid will the be invisible yet the application will do what it was told to do; fit inside the grid.
The application in short is useful, it (correct me if i'm wrong) builds on the existing windows 7 features to make it more useful and more feature rich.
I've used it with an external monitor and that also works quite well.
My biggest concern is the end user experience; it really took a lot of effort to find out how to manage the application. There are a lot of setting's and it's kinda chaotic.
So maybe that (the end user experience) is something to look into.
If there's anything you would like to know just respond!
    P.S.
Why not call it the ThinkVantage View Management Utility (TVMU)
This is just my opinion but dropping the ThinkVantage name (are you?) to me would be a waste, ThinkVantage to me stand's for the premium features you get when buying a Thinkpad/thinkcentre not only the Build Quality and sturdiness but also the software that help you manage your Thinkpad/Thinkcentre. The name says it all: ThinkVantage the andvantage of Thinksystems.
Oh, i just noticed that in the settings menu (taskbar icon --> settings) the word vertical in dutch is spelled incorrectly, its not
    "vertikaal" but "verticaal".

  • Are we Beta testing the N97 for Nokia?

Because if i was given this as a beta release i would have told them what i thought, the current launch version on the N97 with V10 firmware is barely an Alpha release, this phone was a rush job thrown out on the market to coincide with the launch of the iphone 3Gs.
This is my fourth N series, N80, N95, N95 8gb (the best N series yet), and now this N97 what should be Nokia's flagship, but being stripped of apps and filled with Trial versions to please the accountants at Nokia.
Day one and it locked up twice, corrupted my contacts when synced with OVI, and ran down to less than 4mb on the C drive, day 2 i found the GPS was not working, it was a joke, walking down the road under a clear sky and it could not hold a signal lock, driving was worse barely holding a signal for a few seconds and as for sitting spinning it round for an age to get the compass to work........forget it id rather be lost than look like a **bleep**.
Deleting apps and reinstalling them on the mass memory frees up some space, but why should we have to do this, the whole phone is badly thought out and configured.
Soon after the stylus supplied with the phone and attached to the phones only tie point scratched my screen, what was wrong with a rear cover with a bump and a thin PDA style stylus, no not good enough for Nokia, a fat thing on a string will do for them.
New Firmware release 4 days after UK launch and still not available to most users as it has not been network approved yet, 3 network say its Nokia's job and they are delaying things, Nokia say its the networks delay. Come on if it was needed that quickly why leave most of your customers waiting, or just get to work on a layered OS with a standardised core with a network layer, so everyone can have the updated without waiting.
4 weeks in on this phone, i too have the scratched camera lens, still No working GPS, and having some good negotiations with Three to try to reverse the contact upgrade, as i don't think another N97 will last any longer than this one.
I see Nokia spending Millions on punting the N97, TV, Billboards, Net adds, why push so hard on what is a sub standard product, could you imagine Joe public trying to free off some memory by moving apps, tell the care centres to brace themselves the N97 flood will be coming their way.
What next, well if 3 don't cancel the upgrade, then Nokia will have to fix my phone again and again and again untill it works as advertised, in the mean time i am off to get in touch with watchdog so they can let Joe Public know what to expect from an N97.
    Rob
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't believe we're beta testing the N97 for Nokia. Beta testing suggests it is in a state prior to production. Nokia's track record (at least to me) seems that leading edge phones never reach a stable plateau.
What I believe happens is the phone is released and remains unstable until they sort of perfect the platform, then a new handset is released bringing a whole new world of bugs and problems and so the cycle continues.
By the time the phone is suitable for every day use it is, by today's technological stance, ancient and the damage has already been done to the reputation.
S40 phones seem to fare much better, mainly because it is much more widely used within Nokia. S60 is up against some fine competition from vendors who will rush fixes out.. Nokia only ever seems to rush phones out. It isn't the same and it shows (see their forcast for the next 6 months)
I honestly would not be surprised if this flagship phone limps on in a partially functional state until it is superceeded by a budget blackberry clone.
Sad? Very! Am I being cynical, or telling it like it is.
I'd be real interested to know if any exec at Nokia used the N97 in the weeks before it was released.. Not that I'm a fan, but we all know Stevie J used an iphone long before it was released.. I kind of get the impression they must all use very basic "corporate" s40 handsets and assume their flagship product must be of the same calibre.
Next release, why not give 100 people N97 for testing, real testing.  It seems Nokias quality assurance team is out of touch with what a $700 handset demands.. ooooh, I gasp in awe at your 30 MB of free capactity when you remove ALL the applications you can. (It's like having a 2TB hard drive in a computer and continuing to boot from a floppy)
I appreciate there are product time lines to meet, but if Nokia were aiming to compete with the likes of the pre, iphone and the various android handsets (not even mentioning windows mobile) rushing out a phone like this was very wide of the mark. Concept wise, the N97 is a great design.. the implementation of both the hardware and software just isn't going to cut it in todays market..
(but this is what they want? you'll get bored with the handset and buy a replacement! yeay!)
