Java 1.4.2_04 - Internet Explorer plugin

I need to amend the Java installation on about 2000 Win2k PCs with Java 1.4.2_04 installed. I need to enable the Internet Explorer plugin, where you go into the control panel and put a tick next to INTERNET EXPLORER under the browser tab. Is there any way of doing this remotely and also silently?? The only way i can see to do it is to uninstall Java and re-install it with the IEXPLORE=1 command line, but most users have Java loaded so it fails, anyway of doing this whist they have it open??

the other suggestion in response to volume is in the control panel / click on the sounds tab/ then ajdust the system volume icon/ click on the advance tab/ then there is an options tab top L/h/s located in the device area/ then select which ones you want running. Let me know how this goes. if it fails i will think of something else.

You can use a command line parameter when intalling the SUN plugin to automatically enable it for IE: IEXPLORER=1.
I'm not sure how to supply command line parameters if you aren't running the instal from the command line though....

Let me explain my question
when i run my form from application server. it opens a web browser and display my form into it (form display in java applet embbeded in internet explorer). But what i want is that the web browser open the form in java applet as a separate window.

How can I force focus from flash to another plugin app in FireFox such as with the e.focus() Java Script command in Internet Explorer

Can you force focus from a Flash app to another plugin such as Unity3d using a JS command similar to e.focus() which works in Internet explorer. The following code works in IE, but not FireFox? Any solution would be helpful. Is it even possible?

No, I am saying that this isn't the forum for help with that. This forum is for Firefox user support, and the helpers in this forum aren't versed in development issues like that - we're volunteers, not Mozilla developers and don't work for Mozilla. You are better off asking about that in a forum where other web site developers do support.

Java not working in Internet Explorer

I normally use another browser (Google Chrome) but need to use Internet Explorer for a particular online banking service. This service requires a Java applet.
I have the current Java environment (as at 21.3.12), SE 6 Update 31.
Java works in Chrome but does not work in IE8 or IE9.
I have un-installed and re-installed Java several times, tried going back to IE8, turned off ActiveX filtering, confirmed Java scripting is on, checked add-ins are managed correctly and so on and so on, without success. Given Java works it is not a Java
issue but must be an IE issue.
Are there any additional steps or diagnostics I can run to try to identify the problem as I need this to be resolved for the purposes of running my business.

I'm having an issue like this and none of the solutions above helped me.
I'm trying to open a specific web page that is not working with Java only on Internet Explorer (7, 8 nor 9). If I try to open in Google Chrome or Firefox it goes fine.
I've tried various versions of Java and all my tries were done both on Windows XP Professional and Windows 7 Professional.
The weird thing is that when I test it through Java webpage or some other page, it goes fine. It is not working only for this specific webpage.

Java Applet problem in Internet Explorer 7 with Tab Key

I am developing some web pages in which iam using a java applet. so far the intended user are supposed to be using Internet Explorer 7. the problem i am facing is that when i press the tab key within the applet. the control get transferred to new tab position in the web page outside the applet and i have to click back to the applet to get control again transferred to the applet.
i want to restrict the control of tab so that when tab is pressed within the applet the tab should not move to next tab position in the page and remain confined within the applet.
Can someone please help me how can i achieve this and whether i have to do coding for it in the applet or in the web page...so that within the applet the Internet Explorer tab control should remain disabled..

Problem with firewall and java on line sites internet explorer

i have been experiencing problems with java on line games because the firewall has blocked usage.On two of them when i press play to play the game a message appears error on page.If i dowload mozilla will i have the same problems? also when downloading from my gmail account again error on page. When i donload your browser do i click on save or open?

Internet Explorer Plugins Click2Play

Will Windows10 (and the probably coming IE12) finally have a click2play feature for the Plugins like Flash, Java etc ?

In Enterprises its required to have those crappy Plugins, as still too many sites require it. But that enables all those annoying Flash ADs, Exploits etc.
And as a side-effect kills Citrix/Terminalserver's performance (die Flash! DIE! )
IE is the last Browser on the market that does not support Click2Play :(

How to run Java JDBC-Applet in Internet Explorer Browser?

I developed an java application which uses JDBC thin client driver to fetch data from oracle 8i tables, applet to display some graphics.
I am able to compile to code in dos prompt.
Iam unable to run using Appletviewer and IE browser.
In IE browser it displays applet started in status bar but it displays nothing.
In appletviewer it gives
Warning : Can't read appletviewer properties file :c:\.....
java.security.AccessControlException......security expression specifying database host and port.
Environment : Oracle 9iDS release 2.0
Can anybody help me by providing the solution.

I download and install Java 2 Platform, Enterprise
Edition 1.4 SDK Update 1 and I don't get Java plugin
in IE. If I install j2sdk-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe
i can install Java runtime public and get Java plugin.
Why it is so?Because J2EE != (J2SE + more stuff). It's a different thingy.

I'll describe the problem that I'm having.
I have an application that requires JRE 1.5.0_06 to
be installed to work.
On one machine, this JRE is installed and I have
IE->Tools->Sun Java Console and under Internet
Options->Advanced, there's a Sun (Java) entry of "Use
JRE 1.5.0_06 for <applet>". My application works on
this machine.
On another machine, I also have this JRE installed.
However, IE->Tools->Sun Java Console and the Sun
(Java) entry do not show up. My application does
not work on this machine.
Any insight?

BonnieWhen the JRE has been installed there was an option to associate it
with IE or not (to make it a 'plug-in' or not). It was not associated.
Can be done now, as follows:
Start->Control Panel->Java->Advanced-><Applet> Tag Support.
Check the box for Internet Explorer. Restart the browser.

Java 7 update 10 not working with Internet Explorer 8

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Java 7 update 10 and ever since no Java applet loads in Internet Explorer 8 (works fine in Firefox 17.1).
I've tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling Java many times, makes no difference.
Can someone help me please?

I agree - check to make sure IE itself hasn't disabled Java.
Since you're using Java 7.10, please also check the Security tab in the Java Control Panel which can be found in the Windows Control Panel.
While in the Java Control Panel, check also the Advanced tab and make sure Microsoft Internet Explorer is checked under 'Default Java for browsers'
Alternatively check this registry key: HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Software\JavaSoft\DeploymentProperties
For this setting: deployment.webjava.enabled
Make sure its set to 'true' to enable java; if its 'false' it disables java.

How to access Internet Explorer in Java?

I used JDIC library for it but JDIC does not support windows 98.
So, is there any library to embbed internet explorer into the JFrame on windows 98 platform?

You can write your java application with SWT and embed IE with SWT SDK or get any Java-COM bridge.

Talking to Internet Explorer embedded Acrobat Reader via COM

Hi all. I'm developing an Internet Explorer BHO (browser plugin) and was wondering whether it's possibly for me to communicate with Acrobat Reader via COM. I have read through the SDK docs and it's not clear whether this is possible. I'm using unmanaged c++.
I think if this can be done I think I will need to call get_document(IDispatch *p) on the webbrowser control, then using p->QueryInterface(...) to gain access to the Acrobat document. However, to do this I will need to pass in a REFIID to QueryInterface. As such I need to find some documentation on the supported COM interfaces and various IDs I will need to use.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Thanks for your reply. We are writing a web annotation tool as an Internet Explorer plugin. The web annotation part of it is complete, and now we are looking at being able to make annotations on pdf documents loaded within the browser.
Where can I find information about the limited APIs on the ActiveX control you mentioned? Do you think we should be looking at a different approach?

I've always ask to myself why Mac people are so bitter about Microsoft.
If you're saying this because of my comments regarding IE, it's because IE is well-known for not following established web standards. Among web designers, there's a saying used like a curse word: IDWIMIE. What does it mean? It Doesn't Work In Microsoft Internet Explorer. Web design would be so much simpler if IE just curled up in a corner somewhere and died.
Not all the softwares have to run in every browser out there.
Actually, the point of the web is that all web pages and web apps should work in every browser. If a "web app" only runs in IE, it's no more a web app than a Photoshop plugin is. It's a dynamic Internet Explorer plugin loaded over the internet as needed.
