Java 1.6.0_37 on OS 10.7 Lion

My company uses Kodak Prinergy Insite 5.5 for our users in the field to upload their entire book to us in PDF format. We got Safari 6 to work with Java 1.6.0_37 for Web Start application used by InSite 5.5.
But, we're now having problems with 'uploading' files into InSite. The uploader goes through the motions, but fails at 99%.
Does anyone know of something else that needs to work in conjunction with Java 1.6.0_37? InSite 5.5 supports 32 bit. We are not in a position to upgrade at this time to InSite 6 that supports Java 7 on Lion. I'm trying to research some type of work around to help our 10.7 Lion users in the field.
I've tried different things with Terminal, but nothing has helped as of yet.

Uh, though we don't necessarily like it that's exactly how the computer software and hardware business operates. Your observation with Java is just a sign of the Tiger senescence that started with the release of Leopard. If you look on the software websites there's a lot of, "Requires OSX 10.5 with Intel processor," already.

Java Test indicates that Java 6 is running well on my Mac. But when trying to run online applications the mentioned error message appears.
    Thanks for your help!

Hi, Thanks for that further bug description In Your Last Message That Describes The Problem I Am Having perfectly and is exactly the same for me.
unfortunately that fix for my camera Powershot G6 does not work or apply as the view pictures switch is different on G6 is not usable during download as once you plug in DC/USB cable it turns off, and makes no diff and problem still exists exactly as you just described.
    thanks anyways "Selz Boy"
it has been 17 days since apple promised to get back to me within 3-5 days hopefully with a solution, but I have still not heard from them.
They blew me off, i guess, probably i will have to wait for new Yosemite OS update, which they pre-warned me could take as much as 6 months.
I cannot believe apple released this new update with such major bug issues for camera downloads and that horrible "Photos" pgm which has all sorts of downgrades in features, usefulness and new bugs compared to iPhotos which I just finally got used to and was much better software.
I am starting to lose faith in Apple and I am getting that Microsoft "FEEL" like I used to have when I was a PC user, which was why I originally switched to Apple  computers in first place.
Oh well got my fingers crossed here.
Thankfully the memory card reader solution  is working well, but cost me $45.

    Hello,
i need Java 1.6.0_21 for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.0
    who can help me?

  • Dreamweaver and Java SE 6 Runtime problem on MAC Mountain Lion OSX

I have a problem with dreamweaver. I really love dreamweaver for building web pages and have used it for years with a PC.  I recently switched from a PC to a MAC but I find that when I open the Dreamweaver app for the first time I get a prompt that says something like "You must download Java SE 6 runtime, would you like to install it now?"   I click yes, and the download fails.  I called Apple about it, they said the software resides on Oracle's Java web site, and its out of their control.  I go to the Oracle Java web site it says "Apple supplies their version of Java SE 6 runtime and there's no way to download it from the Java.com site.  All this means is that YOUR software does not work on my MAC because these two companies can't agree on who suppies this software.
What I need to know is HOW DO I GET DREAMWEAVER TO WORK?  How do I get around this crazy *** catch 22 situation?  And why doesn't your software recognize Java SE 7 runtime?

I'm in the same boat with you. I recently used Time Machine to backup my profile and then wiped my entire drive and installed Mountain Lion. After importing all of my data with the Migration Assitant, Dreamweaver will NOT open.
SnakEyez02, Oracle's website does NOT have the dowload. The link you posted is to version 7. We've been down this road already. Martiantime is correct, neither Apple nor Oracle are providing Java SE 6, but Dreamweaver is crying to have it installed.
So, Adobe, how do we get out of the hole that we did not dig?

  • HT1338 Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 on iMac mid-2007 that downloaded automatically on iMac mid-2011

Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update on my iMac mid-2007, but it downloaded it automatically on my iMac mid-2011 yesterday. Both are running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. When I try to download the update manually from Apple on my older iMac, it downloads okay, but when I try to open the dmg file, I get a warning message saying that opening this update may make your computer LESS secure. Do you want to proceed? (I did not).
Why would Software Update find this update and install it automatically on one iMac and not the other, if they are both running the same version of Mac OS X Lion? I checked the installed software list on my old iMac and the Java update does not appear there. Why would this update make my old iMac less secure?

Recall that Java is not installed as part of Lion.
You have to install it (and are asked if you want to) when you first try to run some java stuff.
Is it possible that the iMac 2007 does not have Java yet?
Try this: open Terminal (from Utilities) and type java -version (exactly like that, with the space before the hyphen).
    What do you get?
Consistent with this theory is that the dmg thing gave you the warning - installing java might make your machine less secure because java is a means for bad guys to try to do bad things to your computer.

does Apple recommend the Java 7.25 update?  I have mountain lion

You should install the latest Java release from Apple or Oracle to assure you have the most recent exploit holes patched. And, you should also install the current Security Updates to cover other malware protection.

    Apple Security Update 2013-003
Please change your profile information to reflect you are running Mountain Lion now instead of Lion.

  • Java 7 Update 7 and 9 on Mac Lion OS 10.7.4 - Applet printing tiny fonts

As of Java 7, when you go to print from an Applet the fonts are no longer readable (super tiny). A preview of the same on content on the screen is not an issue only show a font issue when you print the contents.
To see this failure in action you can test using this page:
    [applet demo|https://www.peernet.com/PEERNETReportsServer3/ademos.htm]
    On this page,:
    1) press the preview button to show the page to be printed
    2) press the 'Print...' button, print to any printer and you see the textual information is just printed as dashes (super tiny font).
Any suggestions on how to correct Java 7 printing from applets.
BTW: Works fine from a full Java application.

    Hi Jen,
I am having the same issue, from what i am reading and understanding is apple and there in genius ideas decided to block Java because its apparently a security risk - a joke i know!
see i had my course materail for tafe all working then i decided to do the update that kept popping up since then it doesnt work, i installed java 7 update 17 on my old mac book pro and it works perfectly the only thing that is different between those 2 is safari my imac is running 6.0.3 and my macbook is still on the one before that..
i am still currently working on a way to enable this again unless apple relise that this was a completly stupid idea and come to there sens before i come up with away then ill keep you updated when i get it working
so for those who are reading this and havent updated yet my advise if you need java for online games or course materail or anything really DONT UPDATE
    thanks

  • Which Java download needed for SQL Developer

I am running Windows 7 Professional, (64) and have downloaded and unzipped sqldeveloper64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre.zip. When I execute sqldeveloper.exe I enter this path to the Java JDK: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_37\bin\java.exe and a message responds:
    Oracle SQL Developer
Unable to launch the Java Virtual Machine Located at path C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_37\bin\msvcr71.dll
I am going with a 32 bit version of Java because I use Chrome (32) and the 1.6 JDK because the SQLDev info says it must be south of 1.7. The last time I installed SQLDev getting the right version of Java was a big pain too. Could someone give me then name of the package to download and the URL to access it?
    The jdk I installed: jdk-6u37-windows-i586.exe.
I would have hoped that Oracle bundled the SQLDev with the Java.
Your help would be much appreciataed.

    Hi,
I would have hoped that Oracle bundled the SQLDev with the Java.Note that the very first download offered is Windows 32-bit - zip file includes the JDK1.6.0_35 (also 32-bit). See here...
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
    Since you opted to
downloaded and unzipped sqldeveloper64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre.zipyou are expected to specify a 64-bit JDK, which gets installed to
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_37\binrather than
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_37\binThe basic rules:
    1. 32-bit JDK/App on 32-bit Windows;
    2. 32-bit JDK/App (runs under WoW64) or 64-bit Java/App on 64-bit Windows.

  • Uninstall Java 7 and back to Java with 32 bit for Google Chrome

My Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 i need to have a Java with 32 bit to run a site (pdf on-line viewer) on google Chrome. First i update to Java 7 than i red about and uninstall Java 7 and restore the Java 1.6.0_37 from Apple Inc. I don't know if it is 32bit or 64 bit. How I can fix it?

I have the exact same problem and unfortunately with 10.7.5 update "Java Preferences" application is gone.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5493
"This update also removes the Java Preferences application, which is no longer required to configure applet settings."
I need to uninstall - or the ability to be able to switch the 32bit/64bit version of Java.
This is a major problem and I need 32 bit version of Java to be able to use Chrome java applets... Any help is appretiated.

  • Java webstart after java 2012 006

    Hi,
I updated last week my OSX Mountain Lion with the java for 2012-006 which disables the java web start and plugins.
I need however both web start (for starting .jnlp files) and plugins (vpn access).
Was able to restore some stuff from timemachine, currently my system is showing having java 1.6.0_37, my java preferences are showing Java Web start enabled (also the /Users/$USER/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.${MAC_UU ID}.plist shows this), but starting a .jnlp file,  asks me every time to enable Web Start Applications and the launch fails.
Using java7 doesn't solve my problem either, the application itself does not run yep in an java7 environment.
    Ramón
    java version "1.6.0_37"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06-434-11M3909)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.12-b01-434, mixed mode)

Did find the fix myself, besides the restore from timemachine, the correct definition of de symbolic link to /usr/bin/javaws was the fix.
    The complete solution:
    Restore from timemachine
        /System/Library/Java/Support/CoreDeploy.bundle
    and /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.app
    /usr/bin$ ls -l javaws
    lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  76 Oct 18 12:23 javaws -> /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/javaws
    /usr/bin$ sudo ls -l javaws >~/javaws.oldlink
    Password:
    /usr/bin$ sudo rm javaws
    /usr/bin$ sudo ln -s /System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle/Contents/MacOS/javaws javaws

  • HT5367 Why does Java for OS X 2012-006 lead to this article!!!

On Apple.com -> Support -> Downloads, searching for Java for OS X 2012-006, opening the article to download leads to Java for OS X 2012-005.
So I can't download the Java, and it's telling me I have missing content.
    Could use please fix this?
    Regards

No I did have Java 7 installed.
Then I uninstalled it, using the guide from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml
It worked fine with 1.6.0_35 untill Apple released 1.6.0_37, then it just stopped working. In Safari, FF and Chrome.
Tried installing Java 7 again now that 1.7.0_9 had come out to see if that solved my problems, but no that was equally screwed. So uninstalled it again.
Where Java should run it just says "missing addon" or rather since it's danish "manglende tilbehør".
I daily support people with their computer, and I'm close to saying I have to reinstall my mac to get java working again, and that's just dumb.
If they would just link to a proper download article so you could download java 1.6.0_37 for mac os 10.8 then the world would be a but more peachy.

  • I have been unable to work on my sites with the old version of DW  CS5, because every time I try to open Dw,  I get a message saying " you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime"  Unfortunately, I can't find that program, so I downloaded Dw CC2014.1.  I

I'm working on a Mac and when I hit the icon to open the program, it bounces and acts like it is going to open, but then nothing happens.

Have you read this Dreamweaver and Java SE 6 Runtime problem on MAC Mountain Lion OSX?

  • How can I use a Java program to write an executable Applescript

I'm using a PC with Windows XP. I'm a private developer. I've written a project in Java and wish to deploy it to other people using email. I've written an Install program (the Main-Class) and successfully packed this in a jar file with the project class files and some data files all as described in the deployment trail in the Java Tutorials. A recipient with a Mac with OS X downloads the jar file and runs it to install the project class files and some data files. The install program then writes an Applescript file (Vocab.scpt shown below) on the Desktop to make starting my downloaded program easier but it doesn't seem to work and I think it may be because the script file is not "executable". Could this be the case? If so, how could I change my install program to make the script file executable or alternatively use some other system to start the downloaded program?
    Vocab.scpt:-
    # Script to start: Vocab Version: 1.0.0
do shell script "cd /Applications/Vocab; Java Vocab"
Many thanks for your interest. Unfortunately I don't have a Mac to experiment with this problem and although I have spent some days on and off trying to find an answer in the mass of information available on Apple's website I can only find small clues here and there to answer my problem (which I would have thought was quite a common one). In Windows a batch file (eg. Vocab.bat) is automatically executable.

I didn't expect you to have your customer run the command. I would expect you to create the executable and install it. However, there wouldn't be any difference in what you are creating and the .jar file. Either way it is a faceless icon. For that matter, it is no different than a batch file on Windows. I'm not sure what they wouldn't understand with, "copy the Vocab.jar file to wherever you want and double-click it to run the program." In addition, you probably ought to point out that Java is not installed on Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x) and when they double-click the jar file (or whatever you send them), the system will ask if they want to install Java.
What you really need to do is package up the app inside a Mac application package and provide the user with the application on a .dmg (disk image). Take a look here: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Java/Conceptual/Jar_Bundle r/Introduction/Introduction.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40000884
I also found this which uses ANT to create the bundle: http://informagen.com/JarBundler/
