Java 6 SDK won't install on fresh Windows 7 system

"Count not find main class: org.openinstaller.core.EngineBootstrap. Program will exit."
Is there something else I need to install first?

You know, I've not installed Java EE for a while--but the last time I did, I think you may have to have had a JRE installed. But I would not guarentee that, since the first thing I do when I get a machine up is to install the most current JDK and JRE.
In your situation, it sounds more like your installer may be corrupt.
Are you looking to install the Enterprise Edition?

  • Does Installing Awesome WM also Install the X Window System?

I am trying to use Awesome WM as my window manager and installed it and it's dependencies using "pacman -S awesome". Does installing Awesome WM install the X window system as a dependency? I have not installed X separately and have been unable to start Awesome using startx after writing an .xinitrc file with "exec awesome" in it.
    Thanks.

The quick answer to your question is no. The package mainainers assume that you've followed the instructions and installed xorg-server etc. before you start installing stuff that runs on it. The good news is that installing xorg-server etc. will install almost everything you need for awesome.
Edit for clarification:  no one but you knows what X server you might be using. You'll probably use xorg-server, but there are other servers than that: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=87281
Presumably awesome will work with them too.

  • JavaFX 2.0 64bit SDK won't install

    Hi. A noddy question perhaps???
On my MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit laptop with IE 9.0 browser (both 32 and 64 bit) I have:
    - Uninstalled Java 6.xx (32 bit)
    - Installed Java 7 SE 32 bit from jre-7-windows-i586.exe and confirmed it's there.
    - Installed Java 7 JDK 64 bit from jdk-7-windows-x64.exe without the local JSE 64 bit install
    - Added Java to the PATH .
On trying to install the JavaFX 2.0 SDK 64 bit from javafx_sdk-2_0-beta-b45-windows-x64-07_sep_2011.EXE downloaded off the Oracle web site I immediately get a "JavaFX Setup Error" saying "Java Version 6 Update 10 or later is required to install and run JavaFX 2.0 content..." etc...
Any suggestions please re why and what to do to correct this? E.g. do I need the JRE7 64 bit installed, and not just 32 bit?
    Many thanks...

    Hi,
The JavaFX sdk installer will install both sdk and JavaFX runtime, it will first check if system has the prerequisite of jre and jdk.
Since you are trying to install 64-bit Javafx sdk, you need to have 64-bit jre(6u10 or later) and 64-bit jdk on your system. But, from you description, you installed 32-bit jre.
If you install 64-bit jre on your system first, it will fix your problem.

  • Application (WMF 3.0) won't install during maintenance window, but will install when there is no maintenance window

    Hi All,
I'm just getting into the Application model in SCCM 2012 R2 and I like what I see so far, but i'm running into an issue.  When i set up an Application for WMF 3.0 with a prerequisite of .Net 4.0 and deploy it to a set of test systems that do not have
any maintenance windows applied to it, it works great.  If it doesn't have .Net 4.0 it installs both that and WMF 3.0 and reboots.  If it already has .Net 4.0, it will skip that and just install WMF 3.0 and reboot.
However, if i deploy it to systems that have a maintenance window applied, the application recognizes that it needs .Net and WMF 3.0 or just WMF 3.0, but it never actually runs.
Here is the applicable entry from the appintenteval.log, and i've bolded the line where it shows that WMF 3.0 is not installed

I'm not sure what else to try next and appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thanks.  I checked that setting and i have it set to false, so i don't think that's it.
I've done a little more experimenting.  I've changed my maintenance window back to 30 minutes.  Prior to the MW opening, i'll run an application evaluation deployment cycle on the system.  It will show the system as required WMF 3.0 but since
the MW isn't open, it won't install at the time.
When the MW opens, i'll watch the ServiceWindowManager.log and it sees that it's a 30 minute MW and that the run time is 15 minutes but it still says the program can't run:
    ActiveServiceWindow has 1800 seconds left    ServiceWindowManager    4/24/2014 2:20:00 PM    2032 (0x07F0)

    OnIsServiceWindowAvailable called with: Runtime:900, Type:2    ServiceWindowManager    4/24/2014 2:22:32 PM    816 (0x0330)
If however, i kick off another application evaluation deployment cycle on the system during the open MW, the deployment kicks off right away and finishes.

This is not the behavior i would expect.  I would think that if the client knows it has a pending application deployment that is required, when the MW opened up, it would start the install immediately or close to the beginning of the MW.  It shouldn't
need to have an application evaluation deployment cycle kicked off during the MW.

  • Can I install SAPDings on Windows system that doesn't have SAPGUI installed

I am working on a Windows system that has never had SAPGUI installed and am dealing with a PowerPoint file that was created on a system that did have SAPGUI, and the author used some SAPDIngs characters but did not embed the TT fonts in the PPT file that he sent me.
How can I get those fonts installed on my system without installing SAPGUI?  Is it possible at all?  I have tried to email the TT font file from another system that does have the fonts, but neither Outlook nor Lotus Notes appears to want to let me attach the file to an email.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only use this feature once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.

  • Java (JRE) won't install??

While visiting a site, the java applet, on the site would not run. Further browing discoverd that I needed an updated version of the JRE. Having had problems with Java, in the past, I removed my old version before installing the new version.
MSIEXEC.EXE logged the removal of the old version.
FIRST TRY: attempted the "online" install version. After downloading NOTHING happened. Lots of disk activity, but no installation program was run. NO errors were displayed. Tried this twice, same results.
SECOND TRY: downloaded the file for manual install. Download went fine, no problems. Closed browser, ran installation program. AGAIN lots of disk activity (unpacking files?). Same results as before, i.e. no installation program appeared and no errors were reported.
Third tries and onward: Re-downloaded the files from different locations, on the possibility that the files were corrupted some how. All files were the same and were checked to be true copies.
Some snooping around led me to find that the disk activity was caused by the file unpacking an MSI file. Attempted to run the MSI file. It failed, with this error:
    *** Begin Quote ****
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.
    **** End Quote ****
Fisrt Question: (Obviously) why won't the installation progam run?
Second Question: has support for win 9x been dropped?
Hope someone here has an answer. because this one has me stumpted.
    Bill

I have been trying to install the latest command line programming JDK, Java SE 6 (any recently updated "subversion" so to say), and have found that the Microsoft Support, today, sent me to Sun and I presume Sun will send me to Microsoft (since, for now, I'm using Windows 98 SE "not supported" blahblahblah) -- Point: I was glad to find this thread x 1 googleplex.
But I don't know if by .old you mean change, literally, the name of the file (using DOS rename command? which I've done, nothing yet ecept message telling me I have to insert the last of the disks first?!?) to MSIEXEC.OLD -- or if by ".old" you meant something else, something prehensile or obsolete MSIEXEC.FOO, in other "words" -- which, if so, I need to know the actual real extension name/spelling of (unless you can draw me a picture.
I have no small amount of urgency wrapping this around my hypothalamus. Must have the command line prgramming tools -- the jdk -- installed. Can not fail. Therefore: thanks again for your help!
I don't know if the Sun forum this is on will inform me of a reply; please, if you have some anonymous way to send one to my email I'd really appreciate it: [email protected] (I already get so much spam I don't mind posting that adress. I had Itunes 7, and my computer tried to update it to Itunes 9. While its downloading, it all of a sudden stops and says, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." How do I fix this so I can download iTunes?

  • Itunes 10.5 won't install on my Windows 7 64 bit.

Please Help ! Ive Tried Everything i can think of
Whenever i try to update my itunes to 10.5 i get:
Can Someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me solve this problem

Yes.  Please give us something to go on other than a complete reinstall of Windows 7 (Microsoft's solution to the issue behind this cryptic error).
At least acknowledge that the issue lies with Microsoft and an error in upgrading/installing the Visual C++ 2005/2008/200x Service Pack.
A client would like to install iOS 5 from their common Lenovo X61 laptop, but iTunes 10.5 will not install.  I had to reinstall iTunes 10.4.x just to regain access to his media.

  • ITunes won't install on my windows 7 64 bit PC

I can't seem to get iTunes to install install on my PC. I've tried various versions and none get past the part where Bonjour is installed. I've followed various posts, reset install folder permissions etc, but none of this works.
    Please help!

  • ITunes 11 won't install on my Windows 8 32-bit ?

The install stops and says, I don't have sufficient permissions.  Then I try installing as Administrator.  Same results.  Then I try windows compatabilty and it doesn't work.
    Any Suggestions?
