Java 6 sur mac 10.9

How install Java 6 on my Mac Mini under Maverick 10.9 ?

Hello Benoit3558,
It sounds like you would like to install Java on your system. You should be able to install it from here:
Java for OS X 2013-005
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572
Java for OS X 2013-005 delivers improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_65.
On systems that have not already installed Java for OS X 2012-006, this update disables the Java SE 6 applet plug-in. To use applets on a web page, click on the region labeled "Missing plug-in" to download the latest version of the Java applet plug-in from Oracle.
Please quit any Java applications before installing this update.
See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5945 for more details about this update.
See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222 for information about the security content of this update.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

How do I access Java on my Mac Pro so that I can make sure it's working so that we can view "watch instantly" on Netflix?

    There are various browser scripts
1: Java (not needed much at all and highly advised to be turned off in Safari/Firefox preferences due to it's vulnerability)
2: Javascript (if off, needs to be turned on in Safari/Firefox preferences as it's used A LOT)
Note:  If your using a NoScript type blocker, then you need to whitelist the site. Or drag a Temp Allow All button to Firefox's Toolbar.
3: Silverlight plug-in (needed for watching Netflix content, it's from Microsoft)
4: Flash (needed for watching a lot of web based content, but requires constant checks to make sure it's current as they have a lot of security issues)
Check your status here, works on all web browsers

I am programmer and I am using dr java on my mac-book pro with retina display but dr java doesn't support retina display, what is the possible way to solve this ?

I have made some progress.... I can print wirelessly from my printer now, but I can't set the printer itself to be wireless.  I had to move my printer downstairs to where my router is...which is not that convient.   I printed up the page you asked about....and as expected, it says it is off line and there is no IP address.    So now I need to figure out how to make my printer itself wireless.  I did download the HP driver I needed...but I can't access it to do anything else.  It seems l like I am missing a step... or I need to hook up my computer itself to the printer to help get the printer to be wirelss, but I can't hook it up because there is no port for me to do that (no port that looks like a phone jack).  I am guessing I would need a different type of cord, but I am not sure what kind of cord that would be! Ugh!

  • How to execute Java.exe on MAC, LINUX, UNIX...

okay, I know this is very stupid, but can anybody tell me how to run Java.exe on MAC, LINUX, UNIX?
I know how to run it from windows, I have a batch file created in windows, will it work on MAC, LINUX and UNIX as well? (I'm not sure if on other OS, there is such a file type call *.bat)

See what I mean about probably wanting a beginner's book on Unix and/or shell scripting?
okay crackers, the only thing that I have to do is put
in the name of my program into "your program here".Not necessarily. There's the ClassPath, program parameters, etc. What you need to put in the "your program here" depends upon your program. What I did was allow the script to be invoked with command-line parameters and you could (depending upon your program) put "-jar myjar.jar" in the indicated spot, if your JAR file was runnable.
The rest no need to change. right?I don't know. What does your program need? Only you can answer that, not me. I just furnished an example.

  • Java Development on Mac?

I do some development in Java on a PC currently. The target for the code is usually either Windows, Linux, or Solaris. As it is I can download a multitude of Java SDKs from Sun - depending on what I need at the time (I support a lot of legacy stuff that uses older versions). I can't download JDKs from Sun (or if I can, have never seen where) for the Mac.
Does Apple have a similar archive of Java SDKs somewhere that I haven't found, or am I pretty much limited to whatever versions have been included with a Mac OS? I would like to develop Java on the Mac - I have a 20" Cinema display on it and it is very easy on my eyes - but just not sure can get the different JDKs that I need.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

I think you meant "should not". I personally use a MacBook, and since it is not 64 bit do not have access to the official Java 6. I use Soylatte, but sometimes when I have to support/debug swing applications, it is a nightmare. If the OP has the choice and is not committed to the Mac platform, OP will be better off with any of the other platforms where Java is officially supported.

  • Running a Java Applet on Mac OS browser

I'm having trouble getting my Java Applet to work properly on the Mac OS version of IE5. Basicaly, the app fails to appear. Are there any do's and don'ts regarding the running of Java Applets on Mac Browsers?
I read somewhere that you can't send parameters through to the Applet. Is that true? I'm not trying to do this and it's still doesn't work.
    Any help would be appreciated.

If anyone can help me with this problem I would be greatful.

Hello, if you're talking about disabling Java in say Safari...

I'm trying to download java on my Mac machine but the software update doesn't show me anything. Please advise what I should do to get the application.

If you can run it under chrome, you have java installed.
There was some malware that exploited an older version of Java (not javascript) running in a Browser. Since few people use it Apple turned off Java by default in the Safari Browser.
If you need it for something, just turn it back on in Safari preferences (inside Safari). After a few months of non-use, you may find it has turned itself off again.
