Java 6 Update 12 Installation Error

I had been trying to install update 12, and I would get an error stating that the wizard was interrupted before the update could be completely installed when using the offline installer, and if I try the online installer, I would get Error 1327. Invalid Drive G:\. I've been attempting to use solutions online, but none have worked yet.

Yeah, my users are also quite happy about the new Java quickstarter, as well as the new plugin.
With the old one it sometimes teared down the whole browser, but the new one seems to be rock solid.
Good job, thanks for the long awaitend improvements :)

  • Java 6 update 10 installation problem

I try to install the latest java software via group policy (assigned computer installation)but it seems to hang during the installation.
It keeps on displaying "installing managed software Java...."
When I take a look at the processes (using a different computer) I see two msiexec's and a msi4.tmp
When I end the msi4.tmp process the windows logon prompt appears.
I have enabled the windows Installer log but no log file appears in the temp folder.
When I just run the msi manually it installs fine.
I noticed that this update is a small msi file(1561KB) together with data1.cab, izma.dll and sp1033.MST.
I have included those files in the installation source folder and tried it with and without applying the sp1033.MST and my own transform file.
The previous java version only had an MSI files which was around 15MB. No other files. This installation goes fine via GPO.
Any idea what goes wrong? I tried it on a couple of test pc's.

Exactly the same issue here. We have deployed most recently Java 6 Update 7 though Active Directory with no problem. Previous versions were no problem as well. However when attempting Java 6 Update 11 we experience the hang just as described. We have to disconnect the network cable, reboot the machine and let it get past this point, plug the network cable in and then log in and check all services that may have not started. REAL BIG PAIN.
I do have some java-install log files.
The contents of java_install_reg.log follows (I have one more java_install log that I will put in a new reply to avoid confusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Actually there is a limit of 5000 characters so I may be unable to do this.

I am able to install the cubes and info sources/data sources but not the update rules.

Please guide if you have come across into the same.
    Thanks,

I think you're going to have to open an SAP Message for this issue. There is an OSS Note that perfectly matches the description of the error you're getting, but because you're on BI 7.0 EHP1, the change in that OSS Note is already made in the affected Class and Methods.

  • Java 5 Update 11(JRE) Installation gives "Internal Error 2762"

    Hi,
I try to install Java 5 update 11 fom java.sun.com. During finish of Installation I get --"Internal Error 2762" popup with an "OK" button.
Running on Windows XP Professional, has previous installed java 5 update 10 on my system. Internet Explorer browser is running at install time.
Is there any workaround for this.
    Thanks
    Mamatha

This is a Windows installer generated error message. Most of the times, continuing with installation by clicking on "OK" button will install the software without any issues. You can verify the installation by running the testvm applet from:
    www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
Note: ensure to start a fresh browser session after installation is complete
In case, you still find the older version listed, write back with the install log. Instructions can be found at:
Download Windows offline installer - jre-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p.exe to c:\
Run the installation again with logging turned on:
    c:\jre-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p.exe /v"/L c:\install.log"

    Hi,
    This is an easy solution:
From the OS command line, do WRKLNK, go to /usr/sap/SLMS/global/j2eeclient,  at the top where it shows the directory, do a copy on this. Then at the command line type MD, do F4, paste the directory name in the first line, then after j2eeclient add /META-INF'
IMportant*** Make sure the full directory name is in single quotes.*
*On the next 2 lines change INDIR to RWX.  Then press enter and re-run your job.  If you have any problems let me know.

    Hi,
I solved the issue bye updating jvm manually. Both jspm and update manager didn't update successfully.
    Thanl you for your support.
Resolution (to support adobe document services for my specific instalaltion)
Check JVM version in Netweaver u2013 open file
    c:\usr\sap\<NWinstance>\<NWnumber>\exe\sapjvmmanifest.mf. See SAP JVM version
    (e.g. sapjvm version: 5.1.055)
If SAP JVM version is earlier than 5.1.0.55 apply the patch from SAP Note 1469491:
    1) Download patched JVM from the link provided in SAP Note 1469491 for
    required platform
    2) Unpack downloaded SAR archive using Netweaver SAPCAR tool
    3) Check JVM version and platform in file sapjvmmanifest.mf. E.g.
    sapjvm os: NTintel
    sapjvm version: 5.1.055
u201Csapjvm osu201D should be the same as in the installed NW JVM u2013 see file
    c:\usr\sap\<NWinstance>\<NWnumber>\exe\sapjvmmanifest.mf
    4) Stop Netweaver services
    5) Substitute Netweaver JVM folders
    c:\usr\sap\<NWinstance>\<NWnumber>\exe\sapjvm_5 and
    c:\usr\sap\<NWinstance>\SYS\exe\jvm\NTI386\sapjvm_5.1.0xx by SAP JVM
    from the patch package
    6) Start Netweaver services

    Hi,
Looks like you are using Generic Jar installer...so in that case please run the installer by using the -Xmx1024m option:
    Example:
    JAVA_HOME/bin/java -jar -Xmx1024m wls1001_generic.jar
As suggested in the following link: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=2731

  • Product: Java X Update X.. removal failed or error status 1602

    Hi
Managing several different environments I repeatedly run into the same error on "to many" computers.
We use SCCM as our primary distribution tool and install Java using the embedded MSI and a custom made MST.
End user platform is: Windows XP and/or Windows 7
The installs works flawlessly in 95% of all cases but the remaining 5% are still a big hurdle to have to handle manually.
    Problem:
Installing the newest version returns error code: 1602.
For a long time I have been ignoring it since it generally means that the end user has cancled the installation. But upon furter investigation I have found out that this is not the case.
On the individual computer the eventlog actually reports: Product: Java X Update X.. removal failed or error status 1602.
It is the uninstall of the previous version that fails.
Does anyone know what causes this and possible a solution?
    Best Regards,
    Christian

The same problem happened to me. When upgrading from JRE 1.5.0_5 to JRE 1.5.0_6, suddenly no applets would load, and all I could see was the little red X.
I tried to change proxysettings (I dont use a proxy, but it is told at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/redximage.xml that it is due to wrong proxy-settings). It didn't help.
I tried to turn off zonealarm. It didn't help.
I tried to clear the browsers cache. It didn't help.
I have been using both Firefox 1.5, and IE6. None would load the java-applets.
So I uninstalled all older JRE versions and installed JRE 1.4.1_02. It worked!
I then tried to upgrade to JRE 1.5.0. It didn't work.
Now I am back at JRE 1.4.1_02 without knowing why I had to downgrade through 6 versions that through the last year or so has been working fine on my machine.
I have no idea why it suddenly wouldnt work with the newer versions.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

first of all do not post twice. you want help in this forum, one post is enoough. Two post doesnt help you at all.
If you have problem installing java in your computer, try to search it on the net yourself first or look around the sun website.
I'm not exactly sure where your problem is. I tried installing java 1.5.0 but i had few problems so im still using 1.4.2 version. if you are in a hurry try installing 1.4.2 and see whether you can install or not

I also had problems when trying to install 1.5.0. I must have downloaded the offline installation file at least a dozen times and always got the 1335 error. I tried just about all the "recommended solutions", but none of them worked for me. I downloaded the file through WellGet, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. The installation file downloaded through WellGet and Firefox had identical results (error at the same point in the installation "timeline", but the file downloaded through Internet Explorer errored at bit later, which seemed weird, but I guess different software runs differently (obviously!)...
During my lunchbreak at work, I downloaded the offline installation file (through Internet Explorer--my only option at work) and tried to install it when I got home. At first it seemed like it was going to work, as it didn't immediately pop up and say the Data1.cab was corrupted. However, at the end of the installation, I got a 1722 error, so I was disappointed.
Then I decided to try something that people always recommend, but I never do--disabling everything possible when installing something. I rebooted, disabled everything I could in my Systray (anything that had an Exit option in the menu--I didn't go wild and stop everything in Task Manager though...), and lo and behold, the installation went through the SDK, started installing the JRE, and I held my breath, hoping I didn't get a 1722 at the end. No 1722. It finally installed! Yay!
My theory is that either my firewall, anti-virus, or anti-spyware programs were messing up the downloading of the installation file. My workplace only has anti-virus and a hardware firewall. The fact that one download had a 1335 error and the other did not supports this theory. Or that maybe the file got corrupted by chance, but what are the odds I'd get a dozen corrupts in a dozen attempts? If one blames the source file at Sun as being corrupt, then no one would ever be able to install 1.5...
Another strong theory is that I needed to shut off all programs before installing. I'm not going to risk uninstalling my good install to test out that theory on my "corrupted" installation file, though... This could explain a dozen corrupts in a dozen attempts. If so, the file is not corrupt, but something is amiss in the OS environment.
It's feasible that someone could be stuck in a rut trying to download the same file through the same "pipeline" (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware) or stubbornly trying to bulldoze through an installation with their RAM chock full of unnecessary programs. It's too easy to just say "their" file is corrupt or Windows Installer is busted--I too was thinking along those lines...
Anyway, if you consistently get a 1335 error (or maybe other kinds of errors), try shutting down all non-essential programs in the Systray (and maybe in the Startup and Task Manager--although that wasn't necessary for me). If that doesn't work, download the installation file from another computer/source or get ahold of an installation file that has proven to work. These two options are possibly the easiest to try. If they don't work, then one'd have resort to the more esoteric fix-its...
On a side note, it was a bit scary having to shut off my firewall and anti-virus... I hope nothing got through in the two minutes they were down--I should have turned off my DSL modem...oh well.
Now, I have to test out my 1.5 install to see if it is really okay. If it's not, I'll post back and complain...haha

  • Norton Anti-virus-Unable to Live Update (Virus Def) Error/Java 1.4.2

    Hello all.
I have Norton Anti-virus 10.1.1 running on my iMac, Live Update has always been set on "auto" scheduling.
Until these few days, I have difficulties Live Updating the latest virus definition, I will get this error message window:
    Updating Error
There was an error performing the update (OK button)
I emailed Symantec and got a reply, saying the problem could be due to Java 1.4.2, they ask me to re-install Java 1.4.2
However, a check at Apple's Download site reveals no single stand-alone Java 1.4.2 installer, only updates. Is Java 1.4.2 part of the current OS or was from previous OS?
Anyway when I tried downloading the Java 1.4.2 Update, my iMac refuses, in the installer it says:
You cannot install Java 1.4.2 Update 1 Package on this volume. This volume does not contain a version of Java that needs updating.
So if Java is the problem like what Symantec Support points out, how can I re-install Java 1.4.2?
    Thanks and cheers

    1. You wrote: "Also, to the previos post, I trashed all the Java receipts and still unable to (re)install Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2, I think the console results say it all, I have Java ver. 1.5, right?"If you see the same output as I provided, then you should have the same version: that should be obvious.
Don't touch anything in the Receipts directory unless you know what you're doing.
    2. You wrote: "Dr. Smoke, not exactly sure how to go from here where you point to the URL, about checking the console messages/logs for Live Update? Can you help provide some pointers."The instructions I provided earlier, as well as my FAQ, are self-evident. You should not need any additional pointers. Re-read my instructions then re-read my FAQ.
Paraphrasnig what I wrote earlier: If you see the Live Update error again, check the ends of the logs cited in my "Checking Console for clues" FAQ for any messages related to LiveUpdate problems, e.g. messages citing LiveUpdate that were written to the ends of the logs I cite in my FAQ at the time the problem occurred. If you check immediately after the problem occurs, the messages — if any — would be at the end of the log.
What could be clearer than that?
    3. I suspect the Java 1.4.2 info you were given earlier by Symantec was a red herring, i.e. a false lead. Console-related messages as noted in point 2 above would be helpful.
    4. You might want to perform a general checkup for some common troublemakers: run the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    5. Likewise, following the Symantec advice to download the virus defs once and then trying again in a week or so isn't a bad idea.
    Good luck!

  • Java 8 Update 25 Desktop Installer Issues

Anyone have any updated information about the issues with the installer for Java 8 Update 25?  I just tried it again today and the installer gets to the point where it checks for open applications, and then Java says it needs to close the application - which is the Java installer.  You are forced to hit close to continue, and then you get the 1603 error code.  I have tried cleaning the registry out, using every installer and installer method available, still get the same result.  I saw the same issue a few weeks back and they seemed to resolve the issue with the installer after a few days.  This has been over a week now.  I would go back to an older version of Java until they fix it, but the website the client uses forced the update because of all of the security holes in Java.  So if I go back, it just forces you to update again.  Any information on when a new installer would be available or how to resolve the issue would be appreciated.

installed Apple Java 2014-001. Should I delete Java 8 update 25 then? Will it stop asking?
    Thanks for the help!

  • Java 8 Update 45 crashes with error message.

    MacBook Pro 13-inch, mid-2012, 4 GB memory
    Yosemite (V10.10.3 - 14D136)
    Running Java 8 update 31
Trying to install Java 8 update 45
Tried it at least 4 times. No way to do it. At every try, the download works OK (60.5 MB), then the windows says it extracts the update and, after a little bit of time, suddenly disappears without any error message or any other warning. I never get to the "Install and relaunch" step. Subsequent checks (no matter if it is done before or after a reboot) always show that I'm still running update 31.
Anybody knows what's going wrong there?
    Regards,
    Denis MAILLARD.

Thanks for the info about using the Console, Eric.
However, there doesn't seem to be much that is useful in the console log (unless it skipped my attention or the error messages are too cryptic).
Here below are the extracts from the log, for an update attempt in safe mode. The one possibly useful info I see there is the "22/04/2015 17:16:12,143 Java Updater[393]" line, if it is not just the info that the updater found the kit. If it is, then, unless there's an Oracle specific log with more info (and I don't know if there's one and, if yes, where), I'm afraid we can only conclude that the installer crashed, without more precision.
