Java 6 Update 29 - Can't Uninstall

Is there any particular reason why the new Java 6 Update 29 will NOT uninstall?
Running Windows XP Pro 32bit

I am having the same problem with update 29 and cannot get through the 800 number. This version has disabled my access to the US patent office system. They have posted a warning. I removed all older versions and tried to install the last version for their system which is update 26. I tried installing 26 but I get the error message that a later version is installed and will not continue. How can I remove the flag so that I can downgrade. You should always offer the ability to downgrade if it doesn't work.

  • I've 2 versions of Java installed! How can I uninstall Apple's Java 6?

    This is where I'm at
    * Updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion
    * Installed Oracle Java 7 update 7 dmg
    * Misread an out of date OS X Daily blog where I got this Terminal command java -version. It lead me to think Java 7 wasn't installed
    * Installed Apple Java 6 via the Java Prefs app. Thought this would somehow lead to a Java 7 upgrade along the way.
    * Realised that Oracle Java 7 was installed fine the first time, but java -version doesn't work with it !!
    * Now I have 2 versions of Java installed!
    * I reinstalled Java 7 (this time using 7 update 10) hoping it would remove Apple's Java 6 but it didn't remove it.
*For some reason too the old Java Prefs app has been automatically deleted too, so I can't switch Apple Java 6 off.
Confirmation that I have 2 Java versions installed
If I type the terminal command java -version it says I have Apple Java 6 installed.
If I open LibreOffice/Preferences/Java it says I have Apple Java 6 installed.
If I open Play Station 3 Media Server it says it's using Apple Java 6.
If I open some other Java .jar apps like JOSM it says it's using Oracle Java 7
Oracle has a FAQ that recomnds deleteing old versions of Java, but very helpfully only gives instructions for Windows.
    How can I uninstall Apple's Java 6?
    Thanks

Reinstall the OS …  meaning reinstall OS X?!   Is that not a bit over the top?
    >"BTW, do note that all you're really doing is changing the Java Runtime Environment component and not Java."
    At this stage I don't have a clue what I doing !!
In the past week and a half I have had a belly-full of Java name permutations. What kind of sick, twisted mind came up with Java naming scheme: Just take the word Java and append two or three letters to it using every permutation possible, throw in a few numbers for good measure, and then when discussing it just use the generic term Java… that'll really catch 'em out.
…Java SE, Jave RE, Java JDK,Java Platform, Apple Java 6, Oracle Java 7, Java 1.6.0_27, Java 1.7.0_10, Java 6, Java 7, ….. not to mention Java FX, Java DB, Java ME, Java EE, Java DST…

  • Java 7 update 11 can not be stored in the computer (10.8.2.) Why?

Java 7 update 11 has trouble. It does jump over installing place, and are not stored even if it says its completed. Help..

I've installed the latest version of Java [EDIT: latest as of a week ago] directly from Oracle's website. I just checked and Java applets residing on my computer work as expected.
Easiest way to determine if Java is installed is to check System Preferences, because this is where J7v11+ preferences are found now (a change from Oracle).
There is a process within the Safari browser where Apple can impose minimum versions of plugins. Recently such an imposition was made, that effectively disables Java in the browser. This is equivalent to unchecking the Java checkbox in Safari preferences. You can also disable Java in the browser for all browsers via the Java Preferences in System Preferences.
What Apple did was to limit the allowable version of Java in Safari to a version that does not exist (ie a newer version number than the latest version from Oracle). As mentioned, this effectively disables Java in Safari.
However, you should be able to use an alternate browser (eg Firefox) and enable Java in the browser via the Oracle Java preference pane found in System Preferences (and double check with Firefox's preferences).
This assumes you've properly installed the latest version of Java from Oracle directly. In this case, Java should work in Firefox but not in Safari, and Java apps residing on your hard drive should work as normal (unless they're incompatible with the latest version of Java from Oracle).
Now, on my system, Java from Oracle was installed prior to the latest effort by Apple to disable Java in Safari. So, although I don't see a reason why it should be any different, it's possible that someone trying to download Java from Oracle might not be able to fully install it.
In order to determine if that's the case, I suggest users look for the Java Preference Pane in System Preferences to see if it was sucessfully installed.
UPDATE: I am currently downloading j7v13 via the Control Panel. All seems fine. It may well be that v12 was skipped because that was the version imposed by Apple for a "legal" plugin for Safari. Either way the latest version of Java (and Flash) should always be installed since those two are prime vectors for attack on most computers via the browser.

  • I have 3 versions of Photoshop CC and 2 versions of Premiere CC installed on my computer after the last update. Can I uninstall any of them?

After my laptop updated my apps, I now have Photoshop CC (32bit), Photoshop CC (64bit), and Photoshop CC (2014) showing installed on my computer. I also show Premiere CC and Premiere CC (2014). Can I uninstall any of these as they are taking up valuable space on my primary SSD? Please help. This seems silly.

I just uninstalled Photoshop CC, Indesign CC, and Illustrator CC and did not experience any hiccups.  EDIT: If you have plugins refer to @John T Smith post below; I do not.
    Now time for rant:
    - It's a year+ since the switch to CC; what is the utility in switching your brand's identity to a "SaaS company" if you aren't going to be doing rolling releases? You just didn't want to to package and ship the physical boxes anymore? This is mind-blowing to me. Tell your devs/architects to install some Linux instances (Arch preferably) and see they way they handle package upgrades. If you guys weren't so Linux phobic you might have picked up on how to elegantly do package/app updates.
    - Who in Marketing thought "Well ****, if we are going to have a fragmented CC ecosystem might as well just stick the year at the end". If this is going to be your naming convention you should push an update to rename the old CC's (2013).
    - Please refresh your Creative Cloud app immediately. As @unconsenting posted before, HD space is luxury and can't be wasted. Why not have a prompt asking if the user wants to uninstall any previous version? Before finding the uninstall file, I glanced through the CC app for a non-existent uninstall button. Ridiculous that I had to open the Applications folder(or sorting through the numerous Adobe uninstall apps that spotlight displays) and run 3 uninstall apps, each a 5 min uninstall, after spending 15 mins running the new update

  • I often rely on my Norton Toolbar for sites, and it does not work with the new updates. Can I uninstall recent Mozilla updates until this add-on works with Mozilla, or am I stuck? Thanks!

It's probably really easy to figure this out and uninstall the updates but, well, I'm slightly tech-illiterate! I use my Norton Toolbar a lot for those sites I visit infrequently, and this non-compatibility issue is the same reason I stick with Mozilla over Chrome, but now I can't even use my Norton information with Mozilla. Thanks.

  • Java 6 update 19 will not uninstall

I am trying to revert to update 17 because of the various errors I receive with update 19, as indicated in other topics. In the control panel, update does not uninstall for some reason. Any suggestions so that I can reinstall update 17.
I am on Win 7 pro, and the problems arise in Firefox when I access my learning management system, Blackboard/WebCT. IT advice is to revert to previous update.
    Ty, Daniel

I see that a lot of you have read this notice but no one has responded. I'm stuck with that annoying certification message that everyone has talked about in other threads. Doesn't anyone have an idea about this?
    I sure would appreciate it.

  • 3D in Photoshop does not work. Graphic Driver is updated.  Can I uninstall and re-install Photoshop?

I have been on the phone with Adobe and Geek Squad and Intel trying to get the 3D in Photoshop to work.  It used to work till the latest updates, although version 2014 has never worked.  Is it feasible to uninstall Photoshop and then re-install it?  Wish I would have thought to ask when I was on the phone with Adobe...but didn't think of this as perhaps something that might work.  Is it possible?  If so, how?

If you have the latest CC Desktop app installed, then you can click over to the Apps tab then hover over the Photoshop version you want to install and click the gear that appears, and that’ll give you an uninstall option.  Once you uninstall PS CC 2014, you can reinstall it using the Install button next to Photoshop CC 2014 in the App tab further down.

  • CAN'T GET "REDPLUM COUPON PRINTER" TO WORK AFTER UPDATING TO JAVA 7 UPDATE 51

RECENTLY UPDATED TO JAVA 7 UPDATE 51, CAN'T GET "REDPLUM COUPON PRINTER" TO WORK. VALASSIS COMMUNICATIONS, INC. IF YOU CLICK RUN ON THE PROGRAM, DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. WORKED FINE BEFORE UPDATE. DOESN'T WORK WITH INTERNET EXPLORER EITHER. I USE NORTON ANTIVIRUS. DOWNLOADED JAVA MORE THAN ONCE, SAME PROBLEM. EVEN DOWNLOADED WITH ANTIVIRUS OFF, SAME RESULTS. PLEASE HELP.

The CAPS LOCK key also seems to have gotten stuck on.*
Update 51 ratcheted up the security on Java applets, so that unsigned applets that used to generate a warning are now completely blocked. Please see the following documentation from Oracle on your options:

  • Can't uninstall HP Client security in order to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10

I have HP Probook 450 G2 and my Computer wants to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. But when it begins the upgrade process, I get the message, that 'HP Client Security manager' isn't compatible with Windows 10 and that it must be uninstalled. In order to uninstall it, I first must uninstall HP drive encryption. But to uninstall 'HP drive encryption' all partitions must be decrypted. I have two partition encrypted. hp drive encryption successfully decyrpted C partition with windows, but it can't decrypt H: partition (it has 60 GB data from my dropbox account). In Drive security it says H partition it's decyrpting, but there are no %. Only gray bar. It's been so for 5 days now. I tried to encrypt the H partition again and it did it in 1 second. After the reboot there was a sign Encrypted next to the partition lettter. I than again tried to decrypt H partition and it again won't do it. There' s only a gray bar without % and a sentence that partition is beeing decrypted next to the drive letter. I must decrypt this partition in order to uninstall 'HP drive encryption'. 'HP drive encryption' must be uninstaled in order to uninstall 'HP Client Securtiy Manager'. 'HP Client Securtiy Manager' must be uninstalled in order to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Actually it's H partition that hp drive encryption is decrypting 5 days now (without % sign). I have only my dropbox data there.  I could format that partition and downlad the data from dropbox again (it would take 1 day to download 60 GB of the data again from dropbox). D partition is HP recovery partition but I don't have any problems with it yet (i made a letter mistake in first post). I also made HP recovery media on USB stick. Will hp drive encryption automaticaly update the status of H partition from 'Decrypting' to 'decyrpted', if I format the H: partition? Will drive encyrption login window (WinMagic’s Pre-boot UEFI) (before the windows login) automatically be removed, if I format the H: partition? Will FilterBootOrder (FBO) variable automatically be removed, if I format the H: partition?I imagine this is automaticaly done via decrytion of all partitions/disk in HP client security (which doesn't work correct at my computer). Maybe afterwards the H: partition is formated and HP drive encryption status updated, I can then uninstall hp drive encryption and hp client security and install win10. This is another option.

  • HT1338 I installed the wrong java on my mac, how can I uninstall it?

I need java to be able to log onto my work website.  For some reason it wasn't on my mac.  I installed the wrong version by accident, then I installed the correct version, but now neither will work.  How can I uninstall the wrong version? Whenever I try to put it in the trash it won't delete says error code 61! ugh

Good news is it didn't install & you have the latest Java for 10.5.8...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359
About Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10 delivers improved compatibility, security, and reliability by updating J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26 for 64-bit capable Intel-based Macs.
J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update.
So now we need to find where those files really are, if that was -61 then...
    wrPermErr                     = -61,  /*write permissions error*/
It sounds like they're in your pictures folder if they show up on a Screen Saver!? You cant trash thm from there.

  • Can't install Java 7 update 11 on Firefox 18.0

I had Java 7 update 10, which has the 0-day exploit. Oracle released Java 7 update 11. I installed that and uninstalled Java 7 update 10. Now I can't get Firefox to recognize Java. It tells me that Java needs to be installed, but when I try to install the plug in (Java has been installed twice now), it fails. Now I have no Java.

There is no JAVA/FX in the add / remove - also cannot even remove the JAVA that is listed!!1
    Thanks for any help

  • Can you uninstall previous updates leaving just the latest to do the job?

I now have Java 6 Updates 1, 2, 3, & 5 all of about 111MB each on my computer - Does each need its predecessor to operate or can I now uninstall 1, 2 & 3 leaving just 5 to do the job of all of them?
Equally if I install update 10 could I then uninstall update 5?

What in particular didn't you like about Firefox 6?
You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.
Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    *Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
