Java 7 to remote in a windows based program

I am running OS X 10.9.3.  I installed Java 7 yesterday to set up my remote access to a windows based program at my work.  I cannot access all of my work because one program says I need to have Java 1.6.0_31 but I installed Java 7.  I'm not sure if I was given that option to install that Java version on my OS version

what program used to gain remote access ?

  • Can ARD 3 be used for users who want to remote into a windows based server?

I have a couple users at the company I work at who will need to be able to remote into our Windows Server. These users all have Macs and will have to go about remoting in differently. I have done some research on Apple Remote Desktop but i am unsure if it fits my users needs. If I have someone download and install this software on a mac, will they then be able to remote into a windows based server using an IP address? that is my goal in mind  could get some help on this one I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    - Rich

I'm referring to what windows can do via Remote Desktop connection.
You open up the RDC dialog box, enter an external IP address (if working remotely) or a server name if working internally and connect right to the machine. Ideally i want my users to be able to log into our terminal server and be able to use a program remotely. they will have to log on to this server with company credentials. Basically from a mac, connecting up to a Windows Server and remotely logging into it to perform tasks.
I'm really just trying to find an easy way to do this for my user's with MAC's since it is not as straightforward as in windows. I cannot test anything out at home since i do not own a mac so i come to the community to see if you guys have had the same kind of situation before.
ARD was the first peice of software that looked like it might fit my needs but if it doesn't is there anything out there? is it for free or for a cost? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Windows based program on Ipad2.

I really want to buy an Ipad2 but need to run a program on something portable for the next 4 months. This program is for windows based PCs. Should i take it that this is NOT possible on the Ipad???

A Windows based program will not run on the iPad. Only apps available from the App store will run on the iPad.
There are apps that will allow you to access your computer remotely from the iPad if you wanted to do it that way but you can't run Windows or OSX software for that matter on the iPad. The iPad does not run on a a conventional computer operating system.

  • Trying to make Macs compatible with windows-based programs.

We have a Mac shop and are trying to set it up to run windows-based programs. I think I'm supposed to use Terminal Services for this but I don't know much about Terminal Server. Could anyone point me in the right direction for setting up our Mac machines to run windows software?

Windows software cannot run natively on a Mac OS X.
If you have a Windows server running Terminal Services, then on the Mac side you'll need the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection client.
This will allow you to open up a Windows Terminal Services session on your Mac.
If you are not running a Terminal Server of some sort, and you wish to run Windows apps directly on the Mac... then you'll need Microsoft VirtualPC installed and configured on each Mac.

  • How can i run a windows based program on mac book pro

Can I run a windows based program on mac book pro mountain lion 10.8.4

You can use bootcamp to install windows natively on the hard drive.  You then choose which OS you wish to use at startup - OS X or Windows.
You can also install Windows in a virtual machine - Parallels or VMWare Fusion - and run it simultaneously with OS X (a virtual machine is just a PC emulated in software, and you install and run windows in the emulated machine hardware).

I am working on a windows based program thru chrome on my mac - how do I control/alt/delete on the mac?

Control key - Alt (also known as the Option key) and Delete key. However remember Chrome is not an Apple product so if that doesn't work you also might want to seek help on a Google forum that supports Chrome.

Is it possible to use the microphone dictation in windows based program? I have tried dictating into Pages and copying and pasting, but the Windows based (Allscripts EHR) recognizes only the first attempt to copy and paste. Any future copying results on the first pasted dictation to show up in the Allscripts EHR.

RSNAST00 is not used to repeat messages (idocs) but to send them

At present I have windows based programs installed using parallels 7 on my Imac. I now wish to delete all the Windows programs etc and revert the Hard Drive to its original setting i.e single partition. How do I go about it??

It's not clear if you installed Windows in a virtual machine or you installed Windows in Boot Camp but you run it in Parallels.
If you installed Windows in Boot Camp, open "Boot Camp Assistant" (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to restore your hard disk into one volume. If you installed Windows on a virtual machine, just open Parallels and delete the virtual machine where you have installed Windows

  • AIM and other "windows based" programs

    Hey,
I am getting a new macbook for christmas and I am very excited about this. My question for you guys is, how many windows based programs can you run on macbook? Such as AIM and a few games based on windows ? Thanks in advance

    Hey,
how many windows based programs can you run on
    macbook?
The answer is either none or all. The Mac OS does not run any Windows programs. However, you can install Windows on your MacBook and then you can run all Windows programs. The downside to doing this is that your MacBook then becomes a virus ridden Windows machine!

  • Installing a Windows Based program

Has anyone ever had a problem loading up a CD that has been created in a Windows environment. Is this a possibility? If not, what other alternatives are there to this situiation.

You can browse through the programs that Crossover supports here:
    http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name
Crossover is a program that will let you run some Windows program in OS X. For the programs it supports, it works well. Just as an FYI... in general, you can't just install Windows programs in Apple's operating system, OS X (and visa versa). You may want to contact the company that makes the software you're trying to use and see if they have an OS X version. If you have other Windows programs you are going to want to use, you may want to consider installing a copy of Windows. This way you know you'll still be able to use them. If you do plan to install Windows using Apple's free BootCamp, just be sure to follow the instructions. With BootCamp, you have the option to either start your computer using OS X or Windows. Parallels, the program I mentioned earlier, will allow you to run Windows from within OS X (so you don't have to restart your computer to go between the two). I typically recommend if you have an immediate need to use Windows that you install it via BootCamp. If you find that you need to go into Windows quite a bit and don't want to keep restarting your computer to go back and forth, then you can install Parallels. Since Parallels will allow you to use the copy of Windows that you installed with BootCamp, there is no need to reinstall Windows again and you don't have to worry about re-activating it.
If you want to let us know what the specific program is, perhaps we can give you some more specific guidance.

  • What is the best solution for running windows based programs

I have one program that I need windows for.  What is the best solution for doing this without painfully slowing down my mac.

    Depends on your needs.
BootCamp requires reboot and uses all physical resources of the system.  Only OSX *or* Windows can run.  Better for gaming or memory intensive tasks.  BootCampAssistant must set up the boot sector to make it work.  Also BCA required to remove it.
VM (virtual machine) like Parallels which "hosts" Windows while still running OSX.  You split RAM between the two environments.  VM is just another program so no special boot sector changes needed, but not good for graphics or RAM intensive programs.
Other recommended alternates to Parallels (paid) are VM Fusion (paid) and VirtualBox (free download from Oracle.com).

  • I am concidering buying an ipad but am concerned that I wont be able to load and run a windows based program. Can I and how would I?

    Can you advise/

Take a look at LogMeIn Ignition. You would need to install LogMeIn on your PC and then purchase the iPad app ($30). Both PC and iPad would need to be connected to the Internet, but could be remote. You should then be able to see and run NurseSquared on your PC from the iPad. Check with the developer of NurseSquared.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
What you may want to consider is finding a Mac equivalent software title that will run on your Mac. Read my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#WINTEL
You'll likely have better luck doing that, given your machine is over 3 years old.
