Java and OES2 SP3

Good day,
Had a question concerning the following:
1.) There was a TID in regard to JAVA no longer being included in the Channel updates any longer, does anyone have that TID number, or know if this is still relevant?
2.) What is the latest version of JAVA on OES2 SP3?
Thank you,
DS

Java IBM 1.6 and 1.7 are still in the update channels AFAIK (for SLES 11), where did you remember reading that?
You do realize OES2 SP3 is out of general support (since July last year/2013)?

Can't check, all my OES2 SP3 servers have been upgraded to OES11. A quick look on an SMT server shows this one : http://download.novell.com/Download?...d=KfMV2KXyWVs~ (java-1_6_0-ibm-1.6.0_sr14.0-0.11.1.x86_64.rpm / java-1_6_0-ibm 8657)
I'm curious why you are inquiring for this?
Cheers,
Willem

    I've noticed that Windows 8.1 iprint is currently support for iPrint Appliance and OES 11 server only. Will Novell release update for iprint server code for OES2 SP3 to support Windows 8.1? I do not want to upgrade to OES11 at this point.
    Thanks,

    To add to Mysterious' post, OES 2 went out of general support 31 July
    2013. As a result there are no further enhancements coming to OES 2.
    If you don't want to upgrade to OES 11 you could always implement the
    iPrint appliance and migrate printing over to it while leaving the rest
    of your services on OES 2 until you'r eable to upgrade.

    I think you're getting your Mac OS X versions mixed up as Snow Leopard
    (10.6.x) was supported from the beginning with AFP in OES2 SP2 and
    later. See
    http://www.novell.com/products/opene...owleopard.html
    It's OS X Lion (10.7.x) that requires the November 2011 (and earlier)
    patches for AFP in OES2 SP3 but it is supported from beginning with OES11.

  • Migrate NSS volume data from OES2-SP1 to OES2-SP3 server fails

    Hello forums
    I have a senario where we want to use miggui to migrate all files/folder
    and trustees, to e new server using miggui.
    When we try to migrate from the existing "VOL" from the old OES2-SP1
    server, we get an error on the miggui log running on the new OES2-SP3
    server like this:
    ERROR - FILESYSTEM:migfiles:Error: nbackup: (libtsafs.so 6.50.0 269) No
    data sets can be found or the resource is not available.
    In the miggui the Volumes can be dragged and dropped fine.
    I do not by not know the old OES2-SP1's patch level, nor the OES2-SP3's
    at this time.
    Any ideas of what causes this error?
    - Michael

    Have you looked at this?
    Troubleshooting data migration issues with miggui
    I'd check and maybe see if the sms/tsa code is working properly on the OES2 SP1 server.

  • OES2 SP3 DNS/DHCP Console

    Just a quick note that currently, the latest DNS/DHCP Console isn't
    available for download on Novell's site. You have to get it off of your
    OES2 SP3 server instead.
    http://servername/welcome/client-software.html
    Then you can follow TID 7006450 to configure it so you can view leases.

    If you do not have the novell-dnsdhcp-javaconsole RPM installed but do
    have access to the OES2 SP3 media (and don't want to install DNS/DHCP on
    a server just to get the latest JavaConsole) then on a Linux box you can
    extract the latest code via:
    rpm2cpio /path/to/novell-dnsdhcp-javaconsole-2.0.1-0.33.<arch>.rpm |
    cpio -idmv
    (where <arch> is i586 or x86_64 depending on 32- or 64-bit - note same
    files included in both)
    You can then take the relevant DNSDHCP_SA.zip file and use it to install
    the JavaConsole on your admin workstation(s).

  • OES2 SP3: Master sends poison pill upon creation of new volumes

    I'm experiencing problems when creating a clustered pool and volume on
    OES2 SP3. After assigning a new FC LUN which is available on all nodes
    I'm using iManager to create a new pool and volume on the master node as
    described in the documentation. However, at some point in the procedure
    the master starts killing other nodes. Inspection with nssmu shows that
    the new pool is just available on some nodes. After a reboot everything
    is working nicely.
    Should I send the cluster to maintenance mode prior to adding a new
    volume? How can I force OES2 to scan for new pools other than rebooting
    the system? Is there a known problem or a TID for this behavior?

    Sorry, but right now I'm completely confused. What are you talking about?
    From cluster administration manual:
    "10.1.1 Naming Conventions for Cluster Resources
    Cluster resource names can be up to 63 characters. Novell
    Cluster Services supports only
    alphanumeric characters and the underscore character in
    cluster resource names:
    ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwx yz0123456789_
    Special characters, such as the following, are not supported
    in cluster resource names:
    !@#$%&()
    Because the NSS pool name and Linux volume names are
    automatically used in the cluster resource
    name, do not use special characters !@#$%&() in names of NSS
    pools or Linux POSIX volumes that
    you plan to cluster enable."
    I did not use special characters in names of cluster resources, pools or
    volumes. So will my problem be still related to this TID?
    I will gave to go and check with CRM debugging.

  • ZDM 7 on OES2 sp3

    Has anyone gotten ZDM 7 to work on OES2, sp3? I tried installing on 2 machines and got 2 different "non-fatal" errors which must have been fatal because I can't start the services. I only want workstation importing, thats it. Errors have to do with jclient/dclient, and some other things. I can post the real text from the install log if anyone has an idea. novell-zmd-awsi status says unknown file, and same for ZFDstart and ZFDstop in /opt/novell/zenworks/bin/whatever...
    Thanks.

    Along with Shaun's suggestion as it's related... also curious which ZDM install media you used (i.e. 7 SP1 IR4b)?

  • Unresponsive Java and further issues.

    Hi all,
    I'm a student studying Java, and I've been around Java for a while. I've lately put a new computer together and I'm running a legit copy of XP pro on it. Now when I installed Java on it, I had it verified and the website indicated that it has been successfully installed. However, every time I get on a website that uses Java, or I try to run a simple home made program on Java, only an empty window appears with no contents. The size of the window definately varries depending on the size it was designed to. Sometime, I even see java's startup logo an a part of the program shows up. But its usually not in working condition and at that point. All I can do at that point is close it, but then everything in windows becomes non-responsive. None of the icons work, start doesn't work, not even alt-ctrl-del. The only moving thing is my mouse arrow at that point. Then after about 20 seconds the already non-responsive computer freezes completely!
    I've not been able to find a reason for this issue around, nor a way to fix it. I would like to know if anybody has any idea what is wrong with this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vala

    Michael,
    Our production server was recently upgraded to 10.1.2.3, CP5 with Java 1.4.2_06. Prior to this upgrade we recommended that users function with I.E. 6.0 and Firefox 2.0. We experienced issues with later browser versions. On my personal workstation I have Windows XP, SP2, I.E. 6.0, Firefox 2.0 and now Java 1.6.0_16. We are now testing the later version of Java on our test OAS. And we are testing out the later browser versions as we speak. The first thing that I would recommend is to add the Java Runtime parameter of -Xmx256M, in the Java Control Panel. I had some session locks prior to my adding this parameter. I am testing access to both servers with Java 6 installed on my workstation. Access to Java 6 performed better after I added the runtime parameters. Access to Java 4 with I.E. gives a warning message and performs very slowly. Mozilla Firefox does to seem to care, no warning and similar performance as Java 6 on the server side. I have not done very much testing with I.E. 7.0 and Firefox 3.0 as of yet with the newer Java version. I am now accessing that environment and it is running very slowly. Part of the issue may be my PC performance but I do not like what I see. Way too slow. This is the browser functionality not the workbook execution time. I added the Java Runtime parameter of
    -Xmx256M and it now performs better.
    I did the Ctrl-C|Ctrl-V with both I.E. and Firefox and did not experience the problem you discribed. I aslo did not encounter the other problems that you reported. We the corbaserver errors in a Discoverer pop-up window, Java Console or OEM session log?
    You may be correct with the SP3 as being at least one of the culprits. I do not have that patch on either workstation so I cannot test for you.

  • Netware 6.5 SP8 to OES2 SP3 Migration Error with migfiles

    Hi,
    at first. We would like to abuse the migfiles tool to mirror data from Netware to OES2 SP3 with trustees !! Do you know a better tool than migfiles, please let me know. Its very important for me to use a CLI Command tool like migfiles, because it should run automatically.
    We want to mirror data from a Netware 6.5 SP8 NSS Volume to a OES2 SP3 NSS Volume with trustess. The first migration with following line works without any error:
    migfiles -s IPAddress -V Daten -x /media/nss/D4/Test3/ -i
    From this point we need the -sync parameter to keep the data current.
    I use this:
    migfiles -s IPAddress -V Daten -x /media/nss/D4/Test3/ -i --sync "22-07-2011 16:26"
    But then i became this errors:
    Error: nbackup: Failed to restore: DATEN:VOLDATA.TDF
    Error: nbackup: Received error: 0xfffdffdc ((libtsafs.so 6.50.0 291) An invalid path was used.) from NWSMTSWriteDataSet
    Error: nbackup: Failed to restore: DATEN:tsa5up24/NWTAPE/
    Error: nbackup: Received error: 0xfffdffdc ((libtsafs.so 6.50.0 291) An invalid path was used.) from NWSMTSWriteDataSet
    Error: nbackup: Failed to restore: DATEN:tsa5up24/NWTAPE/NWTAPE.CDM
    Fatal: Failed to restore data. Could not find destination path. If the destination path is a cluster resource, then check whether the resource is moved.
    Fatal: nbackup: Received error: 0xfffdffe5 ((libtsafs.so 6.50.0 282) The data set handle is invalid.) from NWSMTSOpenDataSetForRestore
    When the Sync job is finished, no file which was changed on the Source was migrated to the destination.
    For your information. With the Novell Migration Tools (GUI) i have the same error. But with the Windows version "Novell Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit" it works without any errors. But its a GUI tool without the possibility to run it automatically.
    Any ideas
    Thanks Andreas

  • IFolder keeps prompting upgrade after OES2 SP3

    Hi everyone,
    After applying OES2 SP3 our iFolder server keeps prompting upgrade on
    Windows XP clients. It suggests upgrading to 3.8.0.4 but when you let it
    run, it shows windows installer options install and uninstall, there is
    a space where the upgrade button should be. Neither option works.
    I've also downloaded from the web server page the ifolder client, but
    doesn't seem to be that version number.
    Is there any way to disable the annoying prompt?
    Thanks,
    Miguel.

    Section 6.12 of the iFolder 3.8.4 Admin Guide lists a way to disable the upgrade prompt.
    Edit the unix-version.config, mac-version.config, and/or version.config (aka windows-version.config) files located in either /opt/novell/ifolder3/lib/simias/web/update or /opt/novell/ifolder3/lib64/simias/web/update.
    Replace the <version> </version> section of the .config files with the level of client your users already have. Then they should not be prompted to upgrade.

    it is opening a browser as http://host:8000/sap/public/myssocntl?sap-client-XXX
    Since this is not correct and it should open BI Java portal instead of ABAP stack page.
    Instead this should open a Url like this http://host:5XX00/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/biplanworkbench1/Modeler?
    I check on BI ABAP system under SAP Reference IMG -> SAP Customizing Implementation Guide-> SAP NetWeaver _> Business Intelligence-> BI Integrated Planning -> Settings for Starting the Planning Modeler.
    There the default Url is BEx Portal Server and the url is
    http://host:5XX00/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/biplanworkbench1/Modeler
    Can anybody let me know why this is going to ABAP server instead it should go to Java.
    Regards
    Ajay

  • How to get return value from java and read by other application?

    i want to read return value from java and the other application read it.
    for example:
    public class test_return {
        test_return(){
        public int check(){
            return 1;
        public static void main(String args[]){
           new test_return().check();
    }from that class i make as jar file. How to read the return value (1) by other application?
    thx..

    If your installer is requiring some process it invokes to return a particular value on failure, then the installer is seriously broken. There are a bazillion commands your installer could invoke, and any of them could fail, which in turn could invalidate the entire install process, and any of them could return any value on failure. The only value that's consistent (in my experience) is that zero means success and non-zero means failure, with specific non-zero values being different in different programs.
    About the only control you have over the JVM's exit code is that if your main method completes without throwing an exception, the JVM will have an exit code of 0, and if main throws an exception (either explicitly or by not catching one thrown from below), it will be non-zero. I'm not even sure if that's guaranteed, but I would guess that's the case.
    EDIT: I'm kind of full of crap here. If you're writing the Java code, you can call System.exit(whatever). But nonetheless, if your installer requires certain exit codes from any app--java or otherwise--you have a problem.

  • Problem with java and flex web service

    Hi,
    I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
    ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
    Annotations for the java web method :
    @WebMethod
    public void Login(
    @WebParam(name="server") String serverURL,
    @WebParam(name=AUTHENTICATE_HEADER,header=true,mode=WebParam.Mode.INOUTHolder<Authenticate Header>
    authHeader)
    When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
    login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
    to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
    there are issues with the authentication header.
    What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
    succesfully with java ?
    Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
    for going about this ?
    Any help would be appreciated

    well Shay,
    i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
    I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
    But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

  • Problem with java and javaw

    Hi,
    In running the following simple code, I have gotten different results using java and javaw.
    public class Test {
    public Test() {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    int x =4;
    System.out.println("The value is "+ ((x > 5)?6.0:4));
    System.out.println("The value is "+ ((false)?6.0:4));
    System.out.println("The value is "+ ((true)?99:9.9));
    Using java, I get the following results:
    The value is 4.0
    The value is 4.0
    The value is 99.0
    But using javaw, I get the following results:
    The value is 4.0
    The value is 4
    The value is 99
    Any ideas why this is so?
    Thanks for any help.
    Gilbert

    I used JBuilder to run the following code and Jbuilder uses javaw.
    By the way, the correct answer is the one using java right?
