Java app won't run after updating JavaApplicationStub

Before updating to Lion, I had JDiskReport installed.
After updating to Lion, it says it can't run Power PC app.
I installed Java, and replaced the JavaApplicationStub in the JDiskReport.app/Contents/MacOS with the Lion version.
Still when I try to run JDiskReport, Lion tells me it can run a PowerPC app.
Is there an attribute or something I need to clear so that it will run JDiskReport?

I also can confirm that replacing JavaApplicationStub from where it's located in Lion: (/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Resources/MacOS/JavaApp licationStub) and copying the file to the package contents of Jdisk report works.

1.  I redownload the app, and dropped into Applications
2.  make sure that you have Java installed on Lion, go to  apple site to install it.
3.  Open the Applications folder in Finder, find the app and choose show package contents.
4.  Find JavaApplicationStub,
/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A/Resources/MacOS/JavaAppli cationStub
5.  Copy it into the Contents/MacOS folder of the Application from step 4.
I had to re-download the app, since there must be some kind of attribute set on the app that does not let it run, even after I updated the JavaApplicationStub.

My apps won't load after updating to iOS4.3.2. What to do?

Yes, I tried that (thanks for the suggestion, though!). In my music app, when I click on certain songs, the screen moves to try to start the song, but then it bounces back to the menu screen without playing the song. On many albums, when I click on the first song, a song about halfway through the album will start to play rather than that first song. My other apps seems to be fixed, but not the music function.

how come my apps won't open after updating to ios5?

Thanks for the feedback.  This is a custom enterprise application.   So there is not an update yet.   It will take our developer a little time to get it IOS 5 compatiable.  So unless I can change the IOS we can't use application until we get upgrade of the custom app.

  • Apple apps won't launch after update to Yosemite

    Hi all,
I'm unable to launch and Apple apps (app store, email etc) after update from Lion to Yosemite. I've got a crash report but don't seem able to post it here for some reason. Any ideas?

When I try to post the crash report the 'Post' button just goes grey and nothing else happens

  • Programs won't run after update to 10.6.7

    Hi
I have just inherited an early 2008 iMac following my Dad's death a few months ago. So I have no Mac experience at all. On receiving it, I booted it up and a list of recommended software updates appeared which I ran, and by all accounts successfully installed. One of them was an update to 10.6.7
Previous to the update I could access the installed programs. Now I can access barely any of them.
    Error message reads:
    Application name cannot open.
Check with the developer to ensure this version of application name works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS.
There aren't any further updates needed. Every time I check, I'm advised everything is uptodate. So last night I reinstalled iTunes, downloading the latest version. That won't run. Same error message.
I'm unsure what to do now. I don't have any disks etc at the moment as Mum is still trying to locate them (they had more than one property and this has come out of one that has been boxed up and put onto the market).

This is a typical error report. The section I have bolded out seems to be common in all the errors.

  • Certain apps on iPad won't run after updating to iOS 7

Apps like iPhoto, AVPlayerHD and Modern Combat 4 are shadowed and say "installing" after pressing on them. They don't run. I tried to delete them and sync them again over iTunes, turned restrictions off, but nothing seems to work. It all happened after i updated to iOS 7 and ran the backup. Help pls?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • IPad Apps won't run after iOS 5 upgrade.

I have a iPad 1 and tried upgrading to iOS5. Something happened during the upgrade (iTunes locked up). When I try to resync with iTunes it says "iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPad. Would you like to restore this iPad again now?". When I select Continue Restoire option I get the following error: "An error occured while restoring this iPad (-48)" (Ive also seen this same eror with (-20) ) after it trying to restore after awhile. This ends up locking up iTunes.
My iPad says it has iOS5, but almost all the apps do not open. The screen flashes but nothing happens. Browser, Mail, settings open. iBook and all other apps do not.
I've powered down and still not working.

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps then try closing them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Facebook app won't open after update

I have an iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 and after I did an update to my Facebook app thru the app store it wont open anymore. When I tap the Facebook app it looks like its going to open but after a couple of seconds it goes back to my home screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it numerous times, did a reboot several times, deleted it from the bottom tray after double clicking the home key (circle button) and even tried tried installing several new apps but NOTHING works. Please help!

My facebook app is doing the exact same thing.  I installed all of the updates from the app store notifications last night.  Afterward, the facebook app will start to open and then close.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and also rebooted the phone.  Nothing is helping.  Any other suggestions?

That's pretty vague. If you post a few more details, it might increase the chances that someone can help you.
    - What update?
    - What happens when you try to launch those apps?
    - Besides Firefox, what "some other" apps can you launch?

  • Java apps won't run, Java preferences won't launch

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro.  Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences.
Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either.
There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.
I downloaded the package from support to try a reinstallation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close.  No reinstall, nothing.
Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.
What has happened to the Apple I used to know?  If any of the smart folks on this forum have a working solution, please share.  Deleting preferences doesn't do squat btw.
    Thank you.
    Ross

If you want uninstall latest Java to install a previous version, open Terminal and issue this command
    sudo /usr/libexec/java_home –uninstall

  • Podcast app won't open after updating to 7.1.1

I just updated my iPhone to 7.1.1 and now the podcast app doesn't work. When I press it, it just sort of blinks and then nothing happens.
I have tried un-installing it, and then re-installing it, but that didn't help. Thanks for any advice.

Okay. That's looking like a badly broken QuickTime (although it's not the most common message people see under those circumstances).
So we'd better try swapping out your existing QuickTime. Since it's giving you "fatal errors", it's unlikely that you'll be able to use Add/remove Programs to uninstall it. So we'll try getting it out of there by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC (Run CleanUp, find "QuickTime in the entries in CleanUp, select the QuickTime entry and click "Remove"):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
