Java applet help for mountain lion update on macbook pro

Hey, I upgraded to the new mountain lion update yesterday and since then when opening java applets, it won't allow me to do anything with them such as entering usernames and passwords. It was working fine yesterday before I did the update but now I can't seem to get it to work. I've reinstalled Java and it says it's all installed correctly. I was wondering if anyone else is having/had the same problem and knows what to do?

Hi Leonie! I was running into the same problem on my Macbook Air with ML but I just found a soultion that worked for me.
I downloaded and installed Java 7 from oracle's website. And then in the java prefences referenced before, changed the Java 7 build to be my default.
All my applets work great now for me.

I have eactly the same problem - it seems that the downloaded version on MBA is version 6.0 and on iPad is is version 2.0 -
Issue is when i tried to save the presentation on MBA Keynote 09 - Keynote crashed.

No, since you have already "purchased" (even if for free) 10.8 on the App Store with your AppleID, you own it, so you can reinstall as much as you want.

This doesn't work for me at all. I tried entering exactly the same information that I used to set up my regular email account and I'm still getting an error message. I even tried switching to using my gmail account and neither one worked. Then it got hung up and had to repair my database! I have a lot of photos on my Mac (thank goodness they're backed up) and I was really sweating it for a moment.
Apple is so easy until it's not. I find this to be really aggrevating and I'm irritated that it hasn't been fixed. In fact I did an online search and someone described this same problem in detail and it was exactly what was happening to me. Same error messages.
I'm frustrated that Apple keeps updating it's operating system and then we go through these glitches.
And while I'm at it, I have never had such a frustrating time using my login information as I have to get into this forum! Why do they make it so difficult? There's just something about the way it's worded that get's me messed up every time. Meanwhile, at least get iPhoto fixed!

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. I've just installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook pro and cannot now open Preview. I've partly solved the reading of PDF documents by installing Adobe Reader, but Preview is also stalling the log out process. Any suggestions how I might solve this annoying trait would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Why does mountain lion make my macbook pro stall?

Hi Is anyone else having a problem with Mountain Lion? My Macbook Pro was very stable woth OSX 10.6. I updated recently and now the round egg timer equivalent appears regualrly, requiring me to reboot.
I thought that I had left all this behind when I moved from PC?
Any ideas for a cure anyone?

Launch the Activity Monitor utility, set the list at the top to "All Processes", then click on the "% CPU" heading until the top CPU users are at the top of the list. Continue to work until things slow down, then see what's consuming CPU time.

There's no telling when a Mac with Mountain Lion pre-installed will hit the stores. It all depends on when the factory begins installing OS X 10.8 on the drives. The Mac's at the store aren't necessarily 'old' - maybe a month old at best - and it's just going to take some time for the factory to catch-up with the latest OS.
I don't see any reason - other than not having an Internet connection - to put off the purchase of a Mac until it has Mountain Lion on it. When I bought my MBP in March, it was manufactured in the fifth week of 2012 - February - and I had to do some Software Updates. OS X 10.8 is just another update which you can choose to install or not. If you bought any Mac after June 11th, it's a free update.
You can wait to make a purchase after the stores get machines with ML installed but I don't see the point.

I've called Apple Care and they learned me to the following in order to complete a clean install from Mountain Lion on a MacBook Pro Retina (otherwise it won't work): http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11273
But, like Clinton said, shouldn't your rMBP come with Moutain Lion on it? And if so, why can't you upgrade to 10.8.2 because I could (with software update) - but my problem was to clean reinstall ML on it from the App Store (that you stil can't do with a rMBP btw).
And a small question off-topic: How long is your (average) shutdown time on your rMBP 13"?

Restart your mac in Safe Mode by holding down the 'shift' key while it powers up. You'll know if you've entered Safe Mode correctly if you see a progress bar underneath the grey Apple logo screen. Let go of the shift key when you see that, wait for the progess bar to complete then log in.
After log in, go to
 > System Preferences... Users & Groups and remove everything from the 'Login Items' tab.
If you have any anti-virus software installed (Sophos, F-Secure, VirusBarrier, Mackeeper) uninstall it while in Safe Mode.
Restart your mac normally and test.

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.

Please google search for "Mountain Lion disk crash" before upgrading you mac pro. You might need to replace you Mac hard drive after the upgrade.So many people had the same problems including me.
Be aware of the Mountain Lion upgrade problem.
