I understand, you are using extended Receiver Determination using Operational Mapping (which has Java Mapping). And, there is an error message u201CError while determining root tag of XMLu201D, when you are doing configuration test.
Can you please test, the Operational Mapping (which has Java Mapping) separately in ESR, with payload which is coming now. It should produce a XML something like this [Link1|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/48/ce53aea0d7154ee10000000a421937/frameset.htm]

InterMedia Java Classes for Servlets and JSPs and Netscape

I am using the interMedia Java Classes for Servlets and JSPs to upload and retrieve multimedia data. I have found that it is much more performant in Internet Explorer (5.5) than in Netscape Communicator (4.7). In fact, I cannot upload images larger than 10K at all using netscape. However, the same image can be uploaded into the same application using IE. Is this a known issue?

We have successfully uploaded multimedia data in the giga-byte range (Quicktime and AVI files) at the same speed with both the Netscape (4.7n) and MS IE (4.n and 5.n) browsers. One thing we have noticed is that its very important to set the manual proxy settings correctly if you have an environment with a proxy server. If you don't, then uploads can go via the proxy server and, for some reason, that seems to take considerably longer. For example, suppose you are in the www.xyzco.com domain and are connecting to a host named webserver.www.xyzco.com, then specify webserver and webserver.www.xyzco.com (to cover both cases) in the "Do not use proxy servers for..." box in the manual proxy server configuration screen. Also, if you're using a tool such as JDeveloper that uses the host IP address in the debugger environment, then you also need to add the numeric-based (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn) IP address to this list.

Keep googlin'! They're out there! It's worth grabbing the source code for Eclipse or NetBeans or something, and digging about in there. If they're not using a third-party library to handle CVS, they've probably at least written their own. Nothing to stop you, for instance, grabbing part of the Eclipse Team bundle and using it yourself.
Question is: Why do you want to do this? If it's some wacky "self-checking in code", forget it.

R12.1.3 certification for JDK and other products on Oracle Linux 6

We are in the process of migrating R12.1.3 from Linux 5.4 (64bit) on physical server to OEL 6.5 (64bit) on Oracle VM.
Currently running IAS 10.1.3.5 , Forms 10.1.2.3, JDK 1.6_10 on HTTP Server Node and 1.4.2_14-b05 on Developer 10g (Forms/Reports). JRE client is 1.6_24.
The future state is R12.1.3 on OEL 6.5 on Oracle VM with JRE 7.
The plan is to use Rapid Clone as we are already on 10.1.3.5 and DB 11.2.0.3.
The uncertainty is with JDK as the certification on MOS for R12.1.3/OEL 6 indicates minimum version of JDK is 1.6_26.
Should I upgrade to JDK 1.6_26 as a minimum, on the apps tier 10.1.3_HOME and 10.1.2_HOME on Linux 5.4 before cloning to OEL 6.5? Or can we continue running the current JDK apps tier versions on OEL 6.5 and only upgrade the client to JRE 7, without updating JDK?
Taking into account the current versions, can I use the pre-build R12.1.3 VM templates on the new hardware and then clone?
Furthermore, I read the following comment on Steven Chan's blog, it was in June 2012, are these products certified now?

Hi there,
I have downloaded the latest version of Java available for my OS 10.4.8, it seems to be running ok (if a bit slow) when I try to upload batches of pictures, but after some time it says the upload failed.
the same happens when I try to use similar Java uploaders for other website, which is a real pain as I then have to upload my pics one by one!
Has anybody got any heads-up on this?

I have done both verifications, and a longish list of permissions seem to differ from the original. Here's an example:

JAVA Stack for consuming and providing Services with ABAP?

Hi Experts,
I would like to know if I need to have a Java Stack when I want to build a Web Application with Web Dynpro Abap and consume Enterprise Services from the Enterprise Service Repository. Additional own created services in ABAP should be provided. Is a Java stack necessary for that? Or is an ABAP Stack enough?

Hi Ingmar,
You do not need a Java stack to build or run Web Dynpro ABAP application. Web Dynpro ABAP runs on ABAP stack.
Just to consume a web or enterprise service from Web Dynpro ABAP application, or any ABAP application for that matter, you do not need Java stack, either. NetWeaver Application Server contains a component called ICM (Internet Communication Manager) that enables the AS to play both as a service provider as well as a consumer.
The part about consuming Enterprise Services from the ES Repository is more complicated, though.
ES Repository is only a modeling tool. Services are actually implemented in the respective backend systems and then registered in central Services Registry. So, if the Enterprise Service you want to consume comes from an application that runs on Java stack, although I do not have any example of that handy, then obviously - Java stack is needed. This is irrelevant, however, if your question only pertains to the consumer part.

Java plugin for Firefox and Chromium just not working

I have been suffering with the IcedTea-Web for a while now. My banking service (in their stroke of genius) use java on there online service. So a problamatic plugin means that I am not able to use the website while on Linux.
The issue is not specific to the bank's website. Doing the following is also problematic:
1. Go to www.java.com
2. Click on "Do I have Java?"
3. Click on Verify Java Version
4. Chromium does nothing after setp 3, Firefox has a small notification (bottom corner) saying Applet Started but nothign really happens (waited for 20min).
Searching the Forums, showed people with similar problems with an older plugin. An idea I did get was to use the latest branch and compile it. So I changed the PKGBUILD to download the latest using:

Please can anyone suggest me a way to overcome this issue. Currentely I have to use VirtualBox to run a browser in Windows (very very painful)!
A while back I did contact the bank, informing them of the issue was met with a simple "We dont support Linux".

Security profiles for configurators and developers

hello experts,
is there a generic (standard) profile for:
1) functional configurators that are not allowed to touch development objects, and
2) developers that are not allowed to perform functional configuration?
I am familiar with the S_DEVELOP authorization object; is there a way to exclude the customizing tables from the list of objects?

You cannot disable (deactivate) them all at once. You will need to disable 1 object at a time. Like I said, this option is cumbersome, but it will make sure that your Functional Consultants do not have access to Basis Objects and still have access to all the Functional ones.
In case you are not aware of how to copy sap_all in a role, do this.
1 Create a role using PFCG
2. Go to the Authorizations tab
3. Click change
4. Copy sap_all from the list of profiles that you will get.
5 To disable, you will need to go to each object and click on the small green rectangle/square to the left. It will say "deactivate" if you place your mouse cursor on it.
A few more comments/suggestions from my side
Workout with your team to whom you want to provide the access.Let them(functional team) come with what access they need and accordingly provide the access.
If you can do that, great ! If the Functional Team members are non-cooperative, then you don't really have a choice. Again, if this is a Prod system, don't do what I said. That is too liberal an access. If it is Dev it should be okay. QA is also debatable.
Inactivate the objects which are not needed and provide display activity for the objects which you are not sure.
I would say disable the objects that you are not sure about rathar than giving Display access. Display access to S_TABU_DIS can be an audit issue in some cases.
There will still be some authorization issues since some transactions change tables. But you can always add the ones needed.

Java API for webcams and Electrical Engineering

Hi,
Does anyone know of and API's that allow access to:
- Webcams, so that you are able to monitor a webcam and access the images etc etc
- Electronic circuit boards, e.g. monitor hardware, such as a processing plant whereby you can monitor output, input etc
Basically a java interface to hardware, i looked at the javacomm api, but this only allows basic functionality as far as i am aware.
Essentially, i need to monitor production faciltiies interfacing to a java environment so that hardware can be controlled and monitored.
Any suggestions people ?

The Java Twain API from http://www.gnome.sk is designed to connect to a camera (or scanner) directly from the java application. You can comunicate with the camera, snap images, save them, ...
If you just want to see how Java Twain works:
- java (1.2 or higher) has to be installed on your computer
- a scanner or camera has to be installed on your computer
- download the trial package from http://www.gnome.sk
- unzipp it
- go to the examples directory of the unzipped package
- doubleclick the runExampleShow.bat (for Windows) or runExampleShow.sh (for MacOS) file
This will pop up the Twain Source Selection user interface. There, all your scanners and cameras which do have a twain driver should be listed. Select one of them. The user interface of the selected scanner (camera) will appear. Confirm the scanning (you can set the scanning parameters first). The scanned image will be displayed in a separate window. To end the application, close that window.
Running different examples, you can test scanning with hidden UI, saving the scanned image, using ADF, ...

Here at ATNoG [1], we have bi-weekly meetings with discussions of several topics.
Planned for next Wednesday is a talk about which Operating System/Distribution each one uses, their major features and why each one would be good for others.
This is a networks and telecommunications group. Most of us work on low level, kernel code (network protocols), or mobile and security applications. Most people here use Windows, Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora, and maybe a few others, like Gentoo.
What I would like was to get (on top of mine and another's Archer here) your personal contributions on why ArchLinux is great, in this case for developers, people who like to have control of their machines, but also don't want software to get in his way through the times.

Archlinux provides a good amount of control on what occurs in your system. You may hear about this over and over but what does this actually mean? Some distros come with prepackaged applications and/or customizations. Some of these annoy me, for example, linux mint's(LM) firefox has a LM theme associated with it where if you google, 1/4 of the page has LM logos and 'garbage'. I like vanilla firefox, where it is kept simple, clean, and functional. This is just one aspect. Another area of control is in regards to understanding the libraries, dependencies, etc needed for an application to run. Because the default installation is bare bone, you get the opportunity to really understand the background requirements in running an application by debugging it and looking at the errors in logs. This helps the understanding that library A is needed to run application X. This knowledge is useful in case there are certain versions of library A (newer or older) that can cause bugs to occur in application X. Then we can look for the appropriate version and rummage through out of sync mirrors or even the library archive repository.
The arch way of configuration is simple in that the configuration is streamlined to follow the BSD style init.
Arch is rolling release, but unlike some distros, it is bleeding edge. Other rolling release distros can be outdated, simply holding onto packages, kernels, etc for a longer period. You may notice that they are not running on the latest kernel among other things. This may be crucial, in particular to a kernel, if the latest one has a fix for your hardware. Bleeding edge just adds a bonus to Arch that you always have access to the latest versions giving you the power to choose to stick with a stable older version or have it updated.
Overall, in the one month of using linux I've learnt a lot just by reading the wiki on Arch. It is by far the best wiki a distro has made so far for me. I haven't seen any other distros provide such a vast and updated wiki. I normally hate asking questions but really there is rarely a need as the wiki plus forums provide all the answers. Of course if there is an unique issue, the community comes together as long as you provide detailed information and have exhausted all other sources.
Although I am not a dev, I would imagine the above reasons plenty for any dev to welcome this type of environment where control in their environment is critical to the success of the project they are working on.
