Java code statistics analysis

Hi,
I see some product that use "java code statistics analysis" in order to my JR programmer made program as SR programmer or as AP.
I think that is better for my apps this tools.
I think that this tool could make "robots" and could make that SR programmer to cash more money.
I like see a Open Source tools.
Please, what is your opinion ?

(About "bad English": statistically English is decreasing.)
Improving code quality is a good idea.
Javadoc usage is a pre. Say what is intended, what the requirements are,
what is problematic.
Software metrics give information on the entire architecture. They are useful,
as they provide insight in the architecture.
The problem is the interpretation and treatment afterwards.
So is connectivity in all its forms not something to be easily resolved, but important.
And individual source evaluation can give an "error probability" which you can doctor from red to green again - without quality improvement. Indeed productivity may often reduce "quality" a bit.
JR programmers can be usefull. The best to my experience is putting one or two JRs with a SR. This is called peer-to-peer management, and insures that code is checked afterwards.
Code-reviews are the same thing.
Designing software before coding, maybe though with prototypes, would be ideal, as one can talk about the code. The two dangers there are:
- fright to perform in public;
- discussing without sound basis: too abstract, and too long on side issues,
not recognizying the crucial points.
Try to minimalise the number of classes.
Design separation, independent classes in independent package hierarchies. Avoid inheritance.
UML is another way to talk about code.
It is nice to have, but should not be given more weight than it has.
Design patterns are a SR thing, but things like singletons, dependency injection, etcetera should be communicated as concepts, so another
programmer can benefit from reading.
I do not know how it is in your country; in Germany where I live, I have
found, that especially the inexperienced have an almost arrogant attitude,
the experienced are professionally friendly.
Good communication and both freedom for creativity and reviewing/redesigning are a must.
P.S.
The commercial MyEclipse has some of the things you want.
Open source solutions should also exist.

  • Best place in VOimpl java code to call a stored proc to populate results

    Hello all,
    Using JDev 11g, ADF BC and Trinidad.
    I am building an application that is primarily used for searching large amounts of data. We already have stored procedures on the database that perform the searches and dump the results into a holding table (together with a "search id"). I have easilly built a prototype of this application: my view object is simply "select a, b, c from results where search_id = :bv" - I have a service method in the AM that runs the stored procedure, obtains the search ID, binds it to the :bv in the VO and executes the VO's query - it's all working really nicely. Range paging is effective, the VO itself performs well, and I am able to control how long the stored proc runs via setting a timeout value.
    Now, I'd like to generalize this. My thinking is this:
    1). I'll add a custom property to my VO that is the SQL statement needed to call the stored procedure.
    2). I'll add some bind variables to the VO to represent all the query parameters that can be passed to the stored proc. I'll also use custom properties to indicate these are "fake" bvs, and not in the SQL query itself.
    3). The VO's SQL will remain simply "select a, b, c from results where search_id = :bv"
    4). I will (have already tested) override bindParametersForCollection so that the "fake" bind variables aren't bound into the SQL.
    Now, the question: I want to override some method in the VO's java code to call the stored procedure. The stored proc needs to be called before the actual query for the VO is run, and also before the method getQueryHitCount is called (so that the count is correct). What is the method that would be the "best" place to do this? My current thinking is that I would put the call in an over-ridden executeQueryForCollection call. As far as my analysis has gone, it seems to be always called before getQueryHitCount, but I have no way of knowing if this is completely safe.
    Any thoughts from the BC experts out there?
    Best regards,
    John

    John,
    from your description I understand that you essentially program the VO yourself. So I suggest that you read chapter 35.9 of the 'Fusion Developer’s Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework' (I guess you know where to find it). Since you still call the actual SQL not all of the chapter apply, but you get the idea how it works.
    And yes you analyzed the behavior correct. executeQueryForCollection() is allways called bevore getQueryHitCount().

  • Shortest Path Java Code

    Hi
    I have created a topological network in Oracle Spatial and now
    I am trying to find the shortest path between two nodes.
    Is there a sample java code (or instructions) that connects to the database
    and gets that information?
    Thank u

    Oracle Spatial NDM Java API has several shortest path analysis functions. A simple example is as follows.
    // establish JDBC connection: you need specify dbURL, user1, password1
    OracleDataSource ods1 = new OracleDataSource();
    ods1.setURL(dbURL);
         ods1.setUser(user1);
         ods1.setPassword(password1);
    Connection conn1 = ods1.getConnection();
    // read in network, netName is the name of your network in the database
    Network net = NetworkManager.readNetwork(conn1, netName);
    // perform shortestPath analysis
    Path path = NetworkManager.shortestPath(net, startNodeID, endNodeID);
    // then from Path interface, you can access its constituent link/node information
    }

  • How to pass the parameter values to the stored procedure from java code?

    I have a stored procedure written in sqlplus as below:
    create procedure spInsertCategory (propertyid number, category varchar2, create_user varchar2, create_date date) AS BEGIN Insert into property (propertyid, category,create_user,create_date) values (propertyid , category, create_user, create_date); END spInsertCategory;
    I am trying to insert a new row into the database using the stored procedure.
    I have called the above procedure in my java code as below:
    CallableStatement sp = null;
    sp = conn.prepareCall("{call spInsertCategory(?, ?, ?, ?)}");
    How should I pass the values [propertyid, category, create_user, create_date) from java to the stored procedure?[i.e., parameters]
    Kindly guide me as I am new to java..

  • Include PHP and/or JAVA code in any BC site.

    I am thinking about including some PHP and/or JAVA code into my BC site and I was wondering if I am allowed to do this. Just Curious. Thanks.

    That's a shame, because I was thinking about implementing a business search api for my real estate website that was created using business catalyst that allows the collection of all real estate agents in Australia by searching and collecting their information from the Yellow Pages and White Pages directories, and include these information in a database that allows users to search for the real estate agent they want and comment on that agent. This can only be done by integrating some PHP or JAVA code into my BC website.
    So that means that the only way that I can do this is to create a web app that allows users to search for the real estate agent they want to see and comment on that agent, just by entering real estate agents' information into the web app's database and using various BC modules and plugins. Are there other easier ways to do this? Thanks.

  • Some java code returns a null resultset from 10.2.0.1 DB, but works w/ 9.2

    I am a Java noob guys, but we have java code the calls an Oracle Function. This code is unchanged from what successfully runs against an Oracle 9.2 database returning, in this case, one row from the database. A ref cursor is used. When the same Java code calls the same ref cursor function from a 10.2.0.1 database, a null resultset occurs. The function correctly returns a single row when executed by the same database user via sql-plus. So it must be a java thing. Does the jdbc driver need to be upgraded to correctly run against a 10.2 database? And is this null resultset type of anomaly a potential result of having a wrong version of ojdbc14.jar? Nothing else has changed except pointing the code to the same package and tables in a 10.2 database.
    Thanks in advance for your comments.
    Phil McDermott

    I realize now that this is the wrong forum to post in, but I was linked here from a google search on the issue.
    I downloaded the 10.2.0.1 ojdbc14.jar from oracle, but the problem persists.
    yeesh! now what?

  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on compiled Java code

    I'm confronted with the following error of this code.
    http://db-www.naist.jp/~makoto-y/tmp/Int2LongHash.java
    The exception appears only when the system gets high-load.
    Is there work-arounds?
    I've tried also with jdk1.5.0_06, but the same error occurred.
    Converting the inner class to a top-level class has no effects.

  • How do I get the Parameters of a Stored Procedure from my Java Code?

    I want to get the parameters in my Java code. How do I do this with Jdbc?
    In ADO it was: myCmd.Parameters.Refresh();
    Any idea what it is in Jdbc?

    no, what I want is to know what parameters are required by my stored proc. So basically I tell it, "My Stored Proc is name 'SomeName'. What are the parameters I need to fill for this proc?" Then it puts those in for me, and then I fill the values. That's what Cmd.Parameters.Refresh() does in VB/C++. So if I had a proc name "MyProc" with:
    @Something int,
    @Another varchar(25)
    Then if I did cmd.StoredProc = "MyProc" (and told it where to find the DB), and then did cmd.Parameters.Refresh(), the cmd would then have those parameters with null values, so i could do:
    cmd.Parameters(0) = 5
    cmd.Parameters(1) = "hello"
    Any idea how to do that in Java/Jdbc?

  • How to get the values from struct data type using java code..?

    Hi ,
    I am newer to java.
    we are using oracle database.
    How to get the data from struct data type using java code.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,

    Hi Rajeev,
    To retrieve a FilterContainer you will need to traverse the report structure:
    ReportStructure boReportStructure = boDocumentInstance.getStructure();
    ReportContainer boReportContainer = (ReportContainer) boReportStructure.getReportElement(0);
    FilterContainer boFilterContainer = null;
    if (boReportContainer.hasFilter()) {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.getFilter();
    } else {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.createFilter(LogicalOperator.AND);
    Calling boDocumentInstance.getStructure() will retrieve the entire structure for the document.
    Calling boReportStructure.getReportElement(0) will retrieve the structure for the first report of the document.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Dan

  • 3DES - Php crypto codes 2 Java codes convertion problem

    I give all php and java codes I convert one by one but I didnt get same result where is my mistake and what shall I do. Thanks for all.
    Php Code
    $key = "db9ca45ee012dcabaff193ca";
    $input = sha1("MehmetKaraman");
    $td = mcrypt_module_open('tripledes', '', 'ecb', '');
    $iv = mcrypt_create_iv (mcrypt_enc_get_iv_size($td), MCRYPT_RAND);
    mcrypt_generic_init($td, $key, $iv);
    $encrypted_data = mcrypt_generic($td, $input);
    mcrypt_generic_deinit($td);
    mcrypt_module_close($td);
    echo sha1(bin2hex($encrypted_data));
    Output : d7eaa53ab43683a1323cfae877a24efb4a918411
    Java Code :
    String message= “MehmetKaraman”;
    byte[] input = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA1").digest(message.getBytes("utf-8"));
         final Cipher cipher = Cipher.getInstance("DESede/ECB/NoPadding");
         final SecretKey key = new SecretKeySpec("db9ca45ee012dcabaff193ca".getBytes("utf-8"), "DESede");
    cipher.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, key );
    if( input.length % 8 != 0){
         byte [] in2 = new byte[input.length+ 8- input.length%8];
         for(int i = 0;i<input.length;i++){
         in2=input[i];
         input = in2;
         final byte[] encrypted_data = cipher.doFinal(input);
         System.out.println(bin2hex(MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA1").digest(bin2hex(encrypted_data).getBytes())));
    Output : 626b61642ec4ba8f7467933832619d492a6fdde1

    Either you need$input = sha1("MehmetKaraman", true);or in your Java you need to hex encode your sha1 digest before encrypting. When I do either of these and emulate your Java bin2hex() method I get a match.
    I don't understand why people seem unable to do simple debugging. If you had read the PHP documentation for the sha1() function and had printed out the results at each stage it would have been obvious.
    P.S. The zero padding implemented by your codeif( input.length % 8 != 0){
    byte [] in2 = new byte[input.length+ 8- input.length%8];
    for(int i = 0;i<input.length;i++){
    in2=input[i];
    input = in2;
    }can be replaced by 1 line using one of the methods in class java.util.Arrays.

  • How to get af:commandbutton id in java code when it is triggered?

    Hi All
    In my application's homepage, I am using 2 af:commandbuttons and each using action attribute to call a method. Both are calling the same method, and based on its id, it should perform different operations. Could anyone please tell me how to get command buttons id in java code, when it is triggered.
    Regards
    Venkat

    Venkat,
    why not call different methods from each button?
    public String actionButton1()
    return doAction("button1");
    public String actionButton2()
    return doAction("button2");
    public String doAction(String aBuuton)
    if ("button1".equalsIgnoreCase(aButton))
    // do work for button 1
    return "abc";
    }else {
    // do work for button 2
    return "abc";
    }Now you user actionbutton1 for the first button and actionButton2 for the second.
    Or you directly implement two different methods in the bean and call each one directly from the button.

  • How to change InputField background color using Java Code

    Hi,
    In my application use will enter some set of Cost Centers in a table and submits request.
    In return i will get a list of invalid cost centers which i need to display in a table with input field
    In that table all cost centers will displayed, but invalid cost centers should be highlighted or background color should some other color. like red or yellow.
    Is it possible using java code to change a input field color.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi,
        declare a error message in message pool and declare a method say "checkCostCenters " and in this method, u can check whether it is a valid cost center .. if it is invalid cost center , then throw the erro message using the below code :
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportContextAttributeMessage(
                        inputfieldattibutePointer, IMessageProgramPlanComp.ur error message,
                        new Object[] );
    for getting pointer and label use the below code:
    IWDAttributePointer inputfieldPointer = URNODEELEMENTElement
                        .getAttributePointer(URNODEELEMENT.ATTRIBUTENAME);
              String inputfieldLabel = wdContext.nodeURVALUENODE.getNodeInfo()
                        .getAttribute(URNODELEMENT.ATTRIBUTE).getSimpleType()
