Java compiling on a mac

Could Someone PLEASE explain with a good amount of detail how to compile a program through terminal on a mac. Whatever I try I can't get it to work.

one might just say that one has no idea how to use
the javac command in terminal at all, and one would
just like a little bit of helpWhat have you tried to do? What terminal are you using? (I've never used a mac personally, but I understand they ship with a *NIX shell, right??)

if you have downloaded the latest java release from apple (using the update module) you should have java 1.5 by now... On a mac you can compile using the terminal...

Java Compiler for MAC OS X & Linux

I could use a recommendation for a JAVA compiler.
Any help is appreciated.
Q1: For Mac OS X, what is a recommended Java compiler / JDK ?
Q2: Can I program and compile a Java program with the Xcode platform? If so, how?
(fyi: did notice there isn't a JAVA library like C++...but there probably is one out there)
Q3: For Linux OS, what is a recommended Java compiler? (probably the same as Mac)
If you have a website for downloading a compiler and / or Java Library for X code, toss it my way.

The javac compiler is installed in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Commands/. On my machine it's also installed in /usr/bin/javac.
The java libraries in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Libraries/ then there are others in /usr/lib/java/.
I believe that you can use Xcode as an IDE for java or download Eclipse. Then again the Terminal.app (your shell), vi or emacs, and the javac command will get you going.

Java update 1 for MAC OS 10.6 caused problems

Hello,
Today I installed the new java update 1 for Mac OS 10.6 and my eclipse is no longer working.
Actually, the eclipse itself is starting up okay, the problem is when I try to startup jboss AS to start working I get the following error:
ERROR: This jdwp native library will not work with this VM's version of JVMTI (1.0.36), it needs JVMTI 1.1[.102].
This happened right after I installed the update.
To make things more complicated, my workspace in eclipse is set to compile/deploy with a JDK 5 installation I have. Since the update was supposed to only affect the JDK 6 that comes with Snow Leopard, and I'm not using it to run JBoss AS in eclipse, in theory there shouldn't be any problem.
The eclipse itself is running on JDK 6, however.
Anyone have a clue? Unfortunately I'm not using time machine and cannot revert the update.

Integerating objective c with java through JNI in MAC

Hi,
I hv some code in objective c and i hv to call some methods from java code. So i want to use JNI interface for that.
Could any body give me refrence on how to go about it. I know little bit about integerating c code and java thorugh jni on windows.

How to compile opencl on mac 10.8.4 terminal. I have tired "gcc -o main main.c -framework OpenCL". It cannot work.

I know nothing about that application, but if it needs a Java runtime, you have to install the one distributed by Apple, not the one from Oracle.

Getting a program to compile on a mac

hi i am really new at java, and I would like to know how to get a program to compile. The book I have mentioned something confusing about a javac file in the bin directory, and I found that in my library, But if that is the compiler then I have absolutely no idea how to make my programs compile with that.

Java is an interpreted language [ like most other languages], it need the Java runtime libraries to execute and the Java compiler to translate your application's code into bits & bytes for the OS to run your application.
all you need is to install all Java Plug ins, and your application can run in a Mac and also Linux, just as long you do not use extensive Hardware-exclusive APIS [ application programming interfaces].
but for most of us beginners it doesn't seem to happen a lot. ;-)

Run time java compiler

Last year I researched oracle spatial technology and created prototype using oracle 9i, standalone oc4j. In order to start oc4j, i had to download java 1.4.2 from sun site. everything worked fine.
Now I am expanding on the prototype on different machine but am using oracle 10g. I followed the same steps (installed 10g, oc4j, downloaded j2se 1.4.2 and installed). When I start oc4j by following command
java -jar oc4j.jar, I get
error message stating Error loading package at file:/E:/oracle_downloads/oc4j/j2ee/home/applications/admin_ejb.jar, javac.exe no
t found under F:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\jre\1.4.2, please use a valid jdk or
specify the location of your java compiler in server.xml using the <java-compil
er .../> tag.
I am not sure how do I specify location of java compiler in server.xml file sysntactically. I do not not recall this step with oracle 9i.
I edited server.xml and http-wev-site.xml as per instructions in my spatial class for mapviewer application but I need help on how to enter the location of java compiler file in server.xml file.

You cannot use the JRE java to start oc4j. Must install a complete 1.4.2 J2SDK (not JRE) then use the java binary under its bin directory to start oc4j (not the one under jre/bin directory).

I have a small project and I want share it with my friends but my friend'pc have not

for example, I writen a application like YM, then 2cp can sent,receive messege. My cumputer run as Server, and my frien PC run as client.

To run a program you don't need a Java compiler. Just the Java Runtime Engine. That can be downloaded from the Sun website and comes with an installer.
You could then turn your application into an executable jar file and start it somehow like jar myYM.
There is also software that packs a Java program into an executable file. I've never used that but one that comes to my mind is JexePack. It's for free if you can live with a copyright message popping up every time you start the program.

Java update 51 for Mac OS X 10.6 causes several programs to break, will there be an update for 10.6? I saw that there is one for OS x 10.7 available, but not for any earlier versions

Can anyone tell me if there will be such an update soon, and possible when we can expect this?

Yes, it's Java update 16 for Mac OS 10.6 that broke lots of stuff. The 51 comes from it updating Java to 1.6_51. There is an update to the update for 10.7 and up posted, but is there one for 10.6?
UPDATE: Never mind. If you go to the download page for Java update 16, it appears that it has been silently updated. Although there isn't any indication of the fact that it has been fixed, the build number is different (20.51-b01-457 instead of -456).

I have the same problem, they never told me that, just that the newest version of Java "locks" up streaming quotes.

Javax.sound missing with Fedora Core 3 linux's java compiler?

I'm running Fedora core 3, and I did a complete install(selected all the packeges). I have the java compiler that FC3 installed. I can compile most things, but I seem to be missing the sound package/folder.
This leads to an error when I try to import the sound libraries.

I am trying to run a code snippet from javaAlmanac, and of course it won't work. Today, a friend of mine had the exact same problem on a windows machine using JDK 1.5.

I'm considering copying the sound folder from some other Java installation, anyone try this?

I'm pretty new at this myself. I've also installed Fedora Core 3 on an AMD 64. When I do the same uname - a I get:

I've also successfully installed Jave Runtime Environment. java -version gets me:

I'd suggest installing 32 bit. I can't tell the difference when I run programmes that use 64 or 32 bits - it will be just as good.

Java update 51 for mac os x

I’ve tried to login to the XMF for my company to send artwork to a printer on both Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116, Safari Version 7.0.3 (9537.75.14) and Firefox 27.0. I think I have the most recent version of Java installed but I can't find out which version it is. The web application XMF is telling me that it doesn't support Java updates over 51.
I can’t seem to delete Java from my machine, I’m running a Mac with Mac OS 10.9 (mavericks), I’ve enabled the root user and done a search for the ‘JavaAppletPlugin.plugin’, but this didn’t result in anything, I don’t feel experienced enough to mess with Terminal. Can anyone help. Ultimately I want to install Java update 51 for mac os x I think 64 bit.

Oracle Java Compiler 11g - JVM ERROR

Hi Jdev Team,
I have an issue to report,
Sometimes when run a project and navigate through the pages, i get the following error message:
Oracle Java Compiler 11g
Unable to create an instance of the Java Virtual Machine
Located at path:
H:\jdevstudio1111\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
The only way to solve this is delete the settings of the Jdev and the Jdev from the PC, and install again, with the associated waste of time as consecuence. Please you can give a light to resolve this issue? Thanks
Well i correct what i just said.
The problem doesn´t fix, with the erase of the jdev program folder or settings folder in windows user docs and settings. What else i can do!?, out of ideas in here.
