Java developer visual toolkit in standalone
Hi:
I am looking for a visual toolkit for development under java, no web needed, just the ability to create screens, database access and graphs with java, in standalone.
Do you have the name of that kind of toolkit?
Thanks in advance.

Removing Java Development toolkit 6.0.160.1
How do I go about Removing Java Development toolkit 6.0.160.1?
In Windows Explorer, locate C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin\ - in there should be file named npdeploytk.dll
Exit Firefox, rename the file for now, (i.e., DISABLED-npdeploytk.dll then restart Firefox and see if the Java Deployment Toolkit is gone. Then you can delete it.
You should update Java to version 1.6.0.20. Start>Control Panel>Java, Update tab, click Update.
NOTE: Each update will reinstall the Java Deployment Toolkit. The security issue causing older versions to be disabled has been fixed, so it won't prompt you to disable the latest version.
If you are on Windows 64-bit, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin\ instead. -
What is the Java Development Toolkit?
I have been playing Pogo.com for 6 years, however, the last 2 weeks I am/was not able to play a game. They said to adjust computer settings, I did. They said contact my security, I did. Now, they say to install the Java Development Toolkit.
What do I do?
Please help. You may be looking for this: [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7u7-downloads-1836413.html]

Uninstalling Java Development Toolkit
Hi,
I'm having trouble with the Java Development Toolkit plugin for Firefox. I've tried disabling it but it automatically re-enables when I restart Firefox. So I tried uninstalling Java altogether.
However after uninstalling Java, the Java Development Toolkit plugin still remains in Firefox. Is that strange? Is there a way to uninstall/remove this plugin?
Thank you.the pluin only activates when there is a page that needs that plugin. A better solution would be turning off hardware acceleration but you can still try the Java thing.

Disabling Java Development Toolkit
Hi,
I've been having some problems with Firefox lately (shockwave plugin crashes, redirects, choppy youtube videos) so I decided to try a few things. I updated all my plugins, cleared the cache, etc. One problem I'm having is with the Java plugins. I noticed that the Java Development Toolkit is known to be vulnerable by Firefox. I tried updating Java to the latest version but it still says that the plugin is vulnerable. I tried disabling it but it re-enables itself when I restart Firefox. I uninstalled Java altogether and the plugin still exists, this is strange correct?
Anyway I was hoping someone could help me with disabling this plugin permanently. I would also like to know how big of a security risk this plugin is because I had it enabled for a while without my knowledge (I remember Firefox warning me about it and me disabling it but apparently it was re-enabled one way or another)..
Thank you.the pluin only activates when there is a page that needs that plugin. A better solution would be turning off hardware acceleration but you can still try the Java thing.

Where can I find a portal server for JAVA development?
Hi, everyone:
I am looking a portal server which can be used under Windows envorinment and related development environment (toolkit or SDK).
I have done some search through IBM and SUN's web site and I can not find any portal servers that running on Windows plarform for download and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK).
Where can I find some trial versions of portal servers running under Windows and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK)? I want to use JAVA to development portal, so Microsoft does not provide any useful information.
I just want to use basic functions of portal servers so I think other portal servers other than IBM and SUN's can also be used, maybe an open source one can be used. But I do not know what are they and where can I get them. :-)
So, anyone can help me to introduce a portal server that can meet my needs. Or provide me information where to download IBM or SUN's portal server running under Windows and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK).
Best regards,
GeorgeI just want to use portal server and deploy some
applications written in JAVA. Have I made myself
understood?
Still not clear.
Do you want a server application that deploys software. For example you create a game. Someone logs into your "portal server" and downloads the game from that?
Or do you just want to know how to package a java app that you have already written, and then put it on a CD so someone can install that on their computer? -
I must choose between Java and Visual C++ to write an application running on a windows / linux doing
- display of windows / pictures
- database access (flat files)
- TCP networking (client)
I know already VC++ and being in the process of learning Java.
Question: besides cost and speed performances, what VC++ can do that Java cannot perform?
ThanksThe main reason to choose Java is because of the Java platform itself. Rapid development, rich API set, easy debugging and no Microsoft policies that force you to port code when they release a new version of their platform. For the three tasks you mention Java has very easy to use API's readily available:
- windows/pictures -> Java SWING and Advanced Imaging / ImageIO
- database access -> JDBC
- TCP networking -> Java sockets, either regular stream IO or the more powerful NIO
Check out these threads to see how easy it is:
Swing: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/index.html
sockets: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/sockets/index.html -

Vinaywell vinay if u r thinking about -- Flex Front End to Your
Struts Applications
then ,,
Struts is an open source framework that facilitates the
development of web applications based on Java servlets and other
related technologies. Because it provides a solution to many of the
common problems developers face when building these applications,
Struts has been widely adopted in a large variety of development
efforts, from small projects to large-scale enterprise
applications.
Although Struts greatly facilitates the task of developers,
it doesn't do much to improve the end-user experience: the
end-result is still an application delivered in HTML and using the
traditional HTTP request/response mechanism.
Developers—and organizations in general—are
increasingly looking for solutions to provide their applications
with a more engaging user experience that overcomes the limitations
of HTML.
Macromedia Flex is a presentation server that addresses this
requirement and allows developers to build a new generation of Rich
Internet Applications (RIAs) that combine the usability of desktop
applications with the reach of traditional web applications. -
Java Development issue/differences between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo (??)
Hi Everyone,
I am a Java developer that uses my 17" MBP Core Duo for all of my development. Lately, I've been trying to use both the Glassfish Application Server V2 (from Sun) and Maven 2.09 from the Apache project. I have configured identical scenarios on my MBP Core Duo and on a 15" MBP Core 2 Duo.
The scenario involves compiling and running some webservices (at least on the Core 2 Duo) in a local development environment. Both machines use the default JDK 1.5.0_13 installed on the machine.
On the 17" Core Duo, issuing a "mvn install" command produces the following error:

I have installed the same software versions and have the same configuration on a Windows desktop running XP SP2 and get the same successful result.
Is this an issue between the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo? I can't see that it is since I don't believe the hardware influences the software to that degree. However, I am at a loss for what is causing the issue and the Apache Maven list insists that there are developers that are using Maven successfully on OS X.
I really need to get past this issue, but I am at a loss. Please help.

Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide??
I posted in the JDeveloper forum, as well as sending email via your feedback link found on the tutorial but I am a little disappointed by this:
The Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide has some errors in it.
in Windows, I simply chose, start
-> programs -> Oracle Database Express Edition -> Go To Database Home Page -> click documentation from the link -> and run the Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide tutorial.
the problem is there are mistake(s) in the tutorial, for example: section 4-19 is this:
"The complete code for the method should now be as follows:
public boolean authenticateUser(String userid, String password,
HttpSession session) throws SQLException { "
it needs to be this:
public boolean authenticateUser(String jdbcURL, String userid, String password,
HttpSession session) throws SQLException {
Also:
there is no mention that :
the port and SID must also be passed in the
ds.setURL(jdbcUrl) found in the authenticateUser() method, or an exception is thrown. This differs from value of the jdbcUrl string found in the getDBConnection() , which makes it hard to figure out
The tutorial is great even if it doesn't work out of the box, but I am disappointed that errata or completed code for this project is not available, especially when you explicitely point to it via the steps mentioned above.
Thanks,
PatrickThe tutorial seems to be using the old JDeveloper 10.1.2.
If you are aiming to learn JDeveloper then just use the tutorials linked from the JDeveloper home page.

What url should be given to java developer to call wsdl deployed by XI?
Hi gurus,
I generate a web service by using integration directory, and in the wsdl file there is a parameter "location", which I think can be used by java developer to call the web service. However, they think the form of url should be http://.....?wsdl.
So my question is: where can I get this form of url? Any help will be appreciated.Hi ,
while generating the wsdl you should give an url in below format
"http://host:port/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=party:service:channel".
Then u can download the wsdl file and give to ur java developer. this file will be ending with.wsdl and file will contain the endpoint url, where the actual service is.
Again if this is not working and if they really want to download, then u should create UUDI registry in ur server and u shoul publish ur service in that registry. from ther developer can directly download the webservice.
how to configure and publish, u can search in SDN with below topic's
"WebAS : A step by step guide for Configuring UDDI registry on Local Server"
"XI : How To publish WSDL generated from XI to UDDI"

Java Development Role problems!
I have tried to add the java development role to a users account. I have added the following roles:
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_CENTRAL
SAP_JAVA_NWADMIN_LOCAL
Apparently they are meant to get a new tab but it does not appear. Am I adding the right roles?Hi Phil,

First, You have to create a logger.xml file in the Logger folder of your portal component
Then get a hold of that logger and write to it:
ILogger pLogger;
pLogger = PortalRuntime.getLogger("my_logger");
pLogger.info("testing");
Then, you can find this Logger in EP6 under : System Admin > monitoring > portal > Logging Console
Hope this helps

Issue with create user and issue with Java Development tab
I have two issues with EP,
1. When i login with Super Admin user, i am unable to Create any user from User Admin tab. Do i have to change the settings of the Super Admin? or is there any criteria for creating the user?
2. How to assign any user the Java Development tab. Though i login with a super admin user i am unable to see the Java Development role and when tried to assign the role, there were no searches for that Java....Hi Adi,
by default the super administrater has got all permissions. Thus you should be able to create portal users when using a user assigned to the portal group Administrators.
In order to help you with your first question we need more information. Please describe the malfunction in detail. Have a look into the log files and post related error messages.
Regarding your second question: You will find the java development role in PCD
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.pct.pdk/Roles/com.sap.pct.pdk.JavaDeveloper.
If not, then you haven't installed the PDK business package in your portal.
Go to service.sap.com, choose downloads and search the package (PDK should do it). Download the package, and deploy on your portal using SDM.
Best regards,
