Java / Display Driver and Premiere Pro CS5

I have had problems in that the display driver stops responding when in Premier Pro CS5.
I am wondering if it might be that I don't Java installed.
Could that be it?

Your problem is not Java, it is Dual video problems

  • Fix for crash in After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 when Joesoft Hear audio enhancer installed

After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 both can crash due to a conflict with the Joesoft Hear audio enhancer.
We've just gotten confirmation from Joesoft that they've released a beta version of Hear that doesn't conflict with After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5. We're recommending that our customers who also use Hear install the 1.0.5b2 (build 490) beta version of Hear.
Let us know on this forum thread whether this solution works for you. We on the After Effects and Premiere Pro teams will monitor this thread for feedback, and we'll make sure that the folks at Joesoft get the information that they need, too.
When reporting back, be sure to let us know whether you've installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update and After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update.

After 2 days trying to get AE and Premiere past the mediacore initialization message, I finally stumbled on this little message.  Updating Hear definitely solves the problem!

  • Locked a Black Video Layer and Premiere Pro CS5 Hangs Up

Ran into a problem whereby I have on Video Layer 1 a layer of Black Video about 30 minutes long.
I have 2-4 additional video layers above and about 9 audio layers.
When I locked Layer 1 which has nothing more than a premiere pro generated Black Video layer, Premiere Pro CS5 completely froze up, became unresponsiveand  not even able to move the CTI, particularly when I tried to zoom in on the layer.  However when I locked any of the other video layers, not a problem.  Hardly ever lock layers so didn't notice it before.
Filed a bug report but was curious if anyone ran into this problem.

  • Why do Encore CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 have intermittant Sync issues?

I am noticing that Encore CS5 is "buggy" regarding sync issues with material edited by Womble and Corel Video Studio and I am guessing other programs as well?
In high definition I take AVCHD and  edit in Corel Video Studio.  If I leave the project as one single 42 minute segment and import this asset into Encore CS5, more often than not there are bad sync issues.  To get around this I have to divide the 42 minute project into approximately 6 smaller ones- Each smaller asset ends where I had done the editing.  Encore does not have any problems now with these 6 smaller assets.
In standard definition I edit in Womble and export as a MPEG2 Program.  Sometimes Encore has a problem with the asset sync and sometimes it does not.  (I am guessing about 20% of my assets end up with a problem).  The same asset if brought into TMP or brought back into Womble does not have any sync issue.  If brought into Premiere Pro CS5 it will exhibit the same behavior as Encore- If Encore has a sync problem, so will Premiere Pro.  So to get around this I then have to go back to the original womble file and break it up into smaller pieces, at every edit point I cut and export the smaller file just after the end of the transition I applied.  With a 6 hour project I may end up with dozens of small files to get around this problem- not very efficient.
Any ideas how to fix this or why Encore is so buggy?  Would moving the original assets around in Womble- example taking something that was at the end of the timeline and then moving it to the beginning cause these issues for Encore?   Or is there some other cause?
    Encore CS5
    Premiere Pro CS5
    Windows 7 64 BIT
    Quad core
    2.4 GHZ clock speed
    6GB memory
150 GB free space on drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 card

I've used VideoReDo in the past, which I believe has some similar strategies to Womble.  I found when I tested streams, that there were often problems in the source streams, and that the fix was not 100 percent.
You may also find such files that are not 100 percent the same length video to audio.
In any event, the possibility other than Encore being buggy is that the files you are bringing in have problems when Encore tries to validate them.  I'm not saying Encore doesn't have its problems, but clean mpeg files do not have sync issues ordinarily.
For some scenarios, I like your workflow (edit mpeg files in a frame accurate mpeg editor that is not retranscoding the whole file), but the results are often not consistent.
You don't say, and I would certainly look at, the nature of the audio stream you are using.  I can not tell you what the problems are, but some streams just do not edit well, even though they may play back okay in some players, but still have issues in Encore and/or Premiere.

  • Initializing Installer... and then nothing in Photoshop CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5

Hello. I have a pretty big problem, I can't install Photoshop or Premiere Pro on my PC. I get to the " initializing installer " part, it fills to 100%, then the window simply disappears. What should I do ? My OS is XP SP3, and I have enough HDD space left - around 50gb in C: and 550gb in D:, so this isn't the problem. Also, I don't have any old installs of Photoshop / Premiere Pro on my PC. As for the windows, I've just re-installed it last week, so I'm sure that I don't have any viruses or stuff like that. One thing that I must mention - before I re-installed my windows, I was able to install both Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I hope you can help me. Thanks

Photoshop 32bit should, but Premiere Pro CS5 will NOT install on WinXP... PPro CS5 REQUIRES a 64bit operating system to install
If you really need PPro CS5, you will have to upgrade Windows to Win7 64bit... the Pro version is most used for video editing
If you bought a CS5 suite, Premiere Pro CS4 is included for those with a 32bit version of Windows

  • New pc for AE and Premiere Pro CS5

I'm in process of building a new PC.
I just started working with After Effects and Premiere Pro and my current PC is not really up to all the 1080 footage...
I currently own a E8400 with 8GB DDR2 Ram and some cheap motherboard (Intel DQ35JO) for reference.
    I already own 2 x Samsung HD103SJ "Spinpoint" F3 1TB HDDs and a XFX 6850 Black Edition 1Gb which I plan to keep.
    I have 2 options:
    1)
    Intel i5-2500K
    Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3
    G.Skill F3-10666CL9Q-16GBXL Quad Kit 16GB (4x4GB) PC10600 DDR3
OCZ Vertex2 E 90GB 25/S300 SSD for system files (windows, program files, etc...)
I can get this for about 570 EUR / 820 USD
    2)
Intel i7-980X ot i7-980 (is there a big difference between them performance wise?)
    Gigabyte G1 Guerilla
    3 x G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB (2x4GB) PC12800 DDRS (for a total of 24GB or RAM)
OCZ Vertex3 120GB 25/S600 for system files (windows, program files, etc..)
    I can get this for:
    - with i7 980 -    1145 EUR / 1645 USD
    - with i7 980X -  1485 EUR /  2133 USD
Will the 2nd option make that much of a difference in AE and Premiere Pro that is worth 2x-3x more money?
    Thanks for opinions

    Thanks for a fast reply.
Ok, let's say skip the overclocking for now (I used to overclock a ton back when it was Celeron 600 and similar CPU time , but I'm tottaly out of it now...not really on track with the overclocking of new CPUs...it used to be simple back in the days)
    I'm ditching the 2500k option.
If I'm not overclocking, I could get a rather cheap motherboard
    Asus Sabertooth X58
    Intel i7 970/980/980X
    16-24GB ram
    GTX570
Combination of this is between 1150-1550 EUR / 1600-2250 USD depending on different choices.
Considering I'm not willing to overclock, is there to expect THAT much of a difference with 980X and 24GB ram against 970/980 (they're priced the same) with 16GB ram (considering it is 30% difference in price...will it be 30% faster in AE and Premiere Pro?)
I suppose this is my last question, don't want to bother you too much

  • Mac OS 10.7 and Premiere Pro CS5 not reading AVI and DV files, not rendering to Media Encoder

    Hi Folks,
I've been wrestling with these problems since I bought my Macbook Pro running Lion (currently v10.7.3). I've had video editing and DVD authoring workflows that have worked perfectly for both CS3 and CS4 with Premiere Pro and Encore. I used to be able to import DV and AVI files and render timelines to Adobe Media Encoder so I can make DVD projects in Encore but it seems there are a lot of broken bits and pieces either with 10.7 or with CS5 or both. I've tired creating new projects or re-editing CS4 Premiere Pro projects that I can still edit with CS4 on my old Macbook Pro with 10.6.8. In fact I've given up on CS5 and I've gone back to my old laptop to edit. My problems with CS5/5.5 are:
1     Can't import DV files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
2     Can't import AVI files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
3     When I export media and try to use Adobe Media Encoder (AME) the render queue doesn't respond to the files being sent from Premiere Pro (PPro). I have to render the files one at a time from within PPro. I have no idea where the queued files go but even if I have AME open it doesn't respond. In CS4 AME would open automatically and wait until I told it to render the files.
4     In Encore I've had trouble burning to DVD. I have to make an ISO file and then burn that using Toast. I'n not particularly fussed about this but while I'm unloading I may as well give you the full picture.
Basically I'm really hating this vcersion of CS5/Mac OS. Lion is like using Vista from what I can tell. On my PCs I went from XP to Windows 7 so I kinda avoided all that pain it it seems the computer gods are smiting good and proper now. I don't care whose fault it is I want Apple and Adobe to fix it or if some kind soul can share their experiences and hopefully how they fixed it I'd be eternally grateful until the next upgrade totally blindsides us all.
Thank you in anticipation --> Mal/Melboure/AU

    Sorry for your troubles.
Pr 5.5.2 is still a bit persnickety for me on 10.6.8, but overall, it's still faster than FCP7 and MC6, and overall pretty dependable.  Imports and plays AVI files just fine.
Lion still isn't ready for prime time, from what I've seen.  Like all Mac OS releases, it probably won't be until 10.7.6 or so.  And that may never happen, becuase 10.8 is purported to be just around the corner.
So, my advice is, if possible, go back to what works, 10.6.8.

  • QuickTime and Premiere Pro CS5

When I go to export my project I don't see QuickTime as a format option.
Let me describe my situation.  I downloaded a particular version of QuickTime (without QuickTime player) to use with MPEC Streamclip in order to copy a video from a DVD to my computer.  After the file was created the video played in Windows Media Player with audio but no video.  QuickTime had created a restore point so I used it to uninstall QuickTime and start over including QuickTime Player.
When I went to reinstall it I got the message "it already exists".  However I don't see QuickTime anywhere and as I said, it is absent from Premiere Pro format options.
Now my questions:  How do I fix this?
If I uninstall and reinstall Premiere Pro will it install QuickTime automatically or should I install QuickTime manually?  If the latter is true which version of QuickTime should I install?
Please help.  I am at a standstill and cannot continue with my project.

    All is well now.
I checked about the QuickTime folder in Program Files (x86) and found that sometimes even though a program has been uninstalled and is not listed in the Control Panel, there could be leftover folders in the C: drive.  In that case one should go ahead and deleted.  I did that and then installed QuickTime 7.  Premiere Pro recognized it and is now listed under the Export > Format options.
    Thank for your support.

  • Finder causes After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 to crash

Basically when attempting to import files into either After Effects or Premiere Pro the Finder causes them to crash.  I'm not sure
if it's the Movies folder specifically thats causing it, but I'm unable to find out for sure because the Movies folder is the default
folder that comes up when I try to import.  Any ideas here? I'm stumped.

What version of MacOS are you running?
If you are on Snow Leopard, you need to be on 10.6.2 or later.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Upgrade is Downloaded and Installed, but 5.0 Isn't Updating

Hi there. I may be missing something very simple here, but here goes: I already have Premiere Pro CS5 on my system, and I just purchased, downloaded and installed the 5.5 upgrade a little while ago, but CS5 isn't upgrading. It's still opening as Version 5.0.3.
It didn't ask me for my serial number at installation, which made me think it found what it was upgrading, and I've tried restarting, but to no avail.
Any help is much appreciated. Am I missing a step?
    Thanks!
    Stephen

    Hi,
Premiere pro CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5.5 are installed as seperate programs.
So Premiere Pro cs5.5 might have installed as a seperate program.
Check the all program list for the same.
If you face issues, just contact adobe technical support.

  • After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 Long Startup and Application Hang

    Problem:
After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5.5 and CS6 are very slow to start all of a sudden.  Around 5 minutes to get to/by the intro dialogue box.  For AE, the majority of the time is spent on the "initializing user interface." Then, if I can make a comp, and even a layer inside that comp, it will "Hang" if I attempt to open AE's General preferences for example (no preferences window ever comes up).  This "hang" is what the Event Viewer in windows calls it, with the faulting module being afterfx.exe.  Premiere is not much different.   It makes it to the new project window fast, but after setting project parameters and creating the first sequence, I can't get into the preferences either and the application hangs.  It is important to note that if I have another application open, like Chrome or Firefox for example at the time the application hangs, they will freeze as well.  As soon as I kill the Afterfx.exe process, they come back to life.
I have read nearly all threads on the subject, and am struggling to find a solution:
Deleted preferences folder under my username's appdata.
Turned off Firewall (network traffic from dynamiclink, qtserver, etc was allowed, but what the hay)
ran windows system file checker/malwarebytes/rkill/rootkit detection.
checked for windows compatibility checkboxes under the file.
    Uninstalled Wacom Tablet drivers
    Disabled Aero
Started with ctrl-alt-shift to delete pref.
uninstalled video driver and replaced with one 6 months ago.
uninstalled, reinstalled, and tested various quicktime versions back to version 7.69
    moved plugins folder
moved opengl's plugin out of the folder temporarily
Disabled all 3rd party codecs (xvid was the only one installed and for months)
    reinitialized default directshow filters
checked for adobe font list (none found) and removed any fonts from 1 month ago to present.
used msconfig to selective startup without other applications/services running.
Uninstalled all adobe products, and reinstalled.
I performed all of these in a systematic manner, trying to solve the problem.  None have fixed the problem.
So it doesn't seem to be a network issue, a codec issue, a plugin issue, a driver issue, font issue, or conflicting application.  Any thoughts?
    System Info:
    PC Windows 7 pro 64-bit SP1
    Core i7 - 960 24GB ram
    AMD Radeon 6750  v12.10
    Adobe CS6 Master Collection

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

    Several drawbacks to that iMac:
    1) Slower, less powerful CPU - fewer cores and fewer threads. Plus, no iMac can be overclocked at all; they are permanently locked at stock speed.
    2) No RAID support or capability whatsoever.
    3) Can only accommodate a single internal fast disk - period. That disk, unfortunately, is used for the OS and programs. The only viable outputs on that iMac are the Thunderbolt ports - and they, too, are limited as to the number of disks that can be connected.
    4) The 3TB disk is normally way, way, way overkill for an OS disk. However, given the complete lack of internal upgradability and the lack of internal space, Apple might as well install the largest-capacity disk it could get its hands on.

  • AVI file incomplete on import to Premiere Pro CS5

For the past week I have been working with video content created in Camtasia and exported out of Camtasia Studio as AVI files using the Camtasia codec (TechSmith Screen Capture Codec). I then import the footage into Premiere Pro CS5 where I combine it with other elements. I had no problems with this until yesterday when I attempted to import an 18 minute long video created in Camtasia. The video exported fine and I am able to play it in full using Windows Media Player, but when I import it into Premiere, the video is only 2 minutes 38 seconds long (the first 2:38). I have attempted to re-export the video out of Camtasia Studio and attempted to re-import the footage into Premiere several times now, but the result is always the same. Premiere will only import the first 2:38.
I am on a PC running Windows 7 and Premiere Pro CS5. Not sure what other info might be helpful. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue. I previously used  NeoScene to convert .mov files from a Canon 5d mark ii to the easier to edit with Gopro Cineform .avi format in Premiere Pro CC. They used to work fine but now Premiere only recognizes a very small part of the file. The first 18 seconds of an 8 minute file.
I tried importing the file to a new clean scene and the problem remained.
I need to be able to work with this footage. Somehow Premiere is no longer able to properly read clips it used to be able to read.
I would like to hear something from Adobe on this issue.
EDIT: I just updated my GoPro software to 2.0 and the problem was instantly solved. The same might apply to TechSmith.
EDIT 2: Upon rendering the edit I discovered that while the entire length of the clip was represented it in fact stopped playing new frames at the same frame as it had before. So no luck. Updating GoPro Cineform made the length of the file display correctly (7min) but did not actually let me play the file beyond the first 18 seconds - it just showed the same frame.
I deleted all preview files and cleaned Media Cache files (under media/preferences) - this didn't help.
Finally I made the file offline, closed Premiere, changed the file name and re-opened Premiere. Then I right clicked over the file in the Project window and chose replace file to re-connect. The file finally came in correctly. I've now rendered it and it runs through the entire 7 min.

  • Using my JVC BR-DV3000E DVR with Premiere Pro CS5

I have been testing out the use of my JVC BR-DV3000E DVR (Digital Video Recorder) using a new PC running Windows 7 (64 bit) and Premiere Pro CS5.  The connection is via the firewire cable supplied with the device.  It worked fine on my original PC running Windows XP with Premiere Pro 1.5.1.
When I open the capture window in CS5 it shows the message "Device Offline" at the top of the capture window and all the transport controls are greyed out. I have played around with the settings but nothing seems to overcome the problem.  I am trying to capture miniDV footage in SD.  Has anyone come across this problem before on either the same device or similar and has anyone any suggestion on how to fil the problem please?

Try these to see if they work

I do know that the demo of Scenalyzer puts a mark in the video, so don't do anything real until you pay and enter the registration code

  • Adobe Audition CS5.5 with Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello everybody.
I am considering downgrading from Master Collection CS5 to Adobe Production Premium CS5.5
But quite frankly it's just because of one application.
Though, i am in doubt if i'll actually going to make the downgrade.
And as you could and might have guessed it is the Adobe Audition CS5.5 Application.
Though really the whole pack has a GREAT improvement overall, I just actaully want to mix SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro and sound editing application (Audition).
Which leads me to my next question.
Now with Adobe Soundbooth CS5 closed off (by April 24th), and an UPGRADE for Soundbooth CS5 users to Audition CS5. Does this mean that Audition CS5.5 works SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro CS5?
Is there a dynamic link between the two applications? (Audition CS5.5 and Premiere Pro CS5)
AM i able to send mixes between the two? I really don't want to loose any Audio data, such as 5.1 channel mapping, volume mixing, denoising, general mixing etc.
All i really need is some good quality sound editing which works seamless, as After Effects and Premiere Pro has proved to me can be done.
Just want to know if it is possible. Or if I REALLY have to upgrade in order to get the sweet apples.

    Hi _durin_
    Thanks for your quick response.
But I didn't quite understand your answer.
I have seen Jason Levine's video earlier, as CS5.5 was announced and it looks natively good. I understand the mixdown attributes etc.
Please correct me if im wrong HOWEVER this workflow and settings applies still to ONLY the new CS5.5 Version?
Im currently using Master Collection CS5.
Instead of getting either the Production Premium, or Master Collection I am strongly considering updating Soundbooth CS5 to Audition CS5.5 (the option is there as i can tell by SoundBooth's website, though i get a weird error message when I click the update link...)
However I need to know, IF Audition CS5.5 works well with the PREVIOUS version (that'll be CS5 not 5.5), of Premiere Pro.
Are there an option to render the reference video, and generate a interchange session from WITHIN Premiere Pro CS5 to Audition CS5.5?
Im sorry if I either sound harsh or "willingly" misunderstanding. But I have only documentation on how the integration works between the current versions (meaning 5.5).
Im as you can guess VERY confused over the move from Adobe to make a .5 version instead of a full-fledged CS6 solution. It causes a stir, cause I then don't know much of the integration between the previous applications.
I have seen as an example that Photoshop CS5 have gotten the update to receive paintings/files made with their new touch API. So I wonder whether integrational features will be a part of the CS5 pack since, as i've mentioned, an application like Soundbooth gets replaced with Audition, with an upgrade option for the Soundbooth owners.
Im confused and hope you can help me clear my mind up, whether to upgrade or not. I will download the trial eventually, but not onto my current CS5 system since I already use this in my daily video work and want to AVOID confusion.
