Java en Vista (compatibility)

Are there any recent articles/websites about compatibility between Java and Vista, Especially older versions of the JRE, like 1.4.x and 1.5.x ?
I found http://weblogs.java.net/blog/chet/archive/2006/10/java_on_vista_y.html
Or is anyone here working on Vista with an older version of the JRE who wants to share his findings?

Why would you worry about older version of the JDK running on Vista, since newer version of the JDK will quite happily execute code compiled for older version of Java?
If it is a question of making sure that programs still behave properly with older VMs, for previous version of Windows, then I reckon you should keep an older version of Windows around too.

  • Adobe Audtion 3.0 Vista Compatibility

Please advise me, as I am lost.
I need to find out whether the application called "Adobe Audtion 3.0 Vista Compatibility" is
    1) a proper program that requires its own purchase/license
    or
    2) just a service release, which does not require a license doc. but which is thus covered by the license doc. for Audition 3.
I need this for a Software License Compliance report.
I do not have access the the company's PC, so I cannot go a check anywhere or ask anybody.
I sit in a different company.
Normnally I can find the info I seek on the internet, but I cannot decide on this one.
The info comes from 'Add/remove programs'.

I appreciate your answer. If you are not 100% certain I will see if anybody else has a

  • Zen Sleek / Vista Compatability Er

I've searched this forum and found only one post with an answer to the Zen Sleek / Windows Vista compatability problem
Its a good thing NO ONE gives a straight forward answer to the situation
all i'm looking for is a solution to this situation, my computer can see that I have an mp3 player connected, however I cant see any of the songs I have on it, through any program I use or anything
So how would I be able to manage songs with vista is my q?

What firmware is your Zen Sleek running? (Menu-> System-> Information)
It needs to have the PlaysForSure firmware so that Vista recognizes it as an MTP Device.
Check out the information on the Drivers for PlayForSure Zen Micro, Zen Sleek, Zen Touch or Zen Xtra on Windows98SE/Me/2000 sticky thread.
Unfortunately it's a bit rough upgrading firmware on Vista as there's a Catch-22: Vista won't recognize your device until the firmware is updated, but you can't update the firmware unless Vista recognizes your device. :|
The work-around is to update the firmare on an XP machine and then plug it into the Vista machine. MTP Devices are supposed to be supported by Vista, so it should recognize your Zen Sleek.
MicroSoft could have saved the world a lot of grief by having decent Legacy Device support, but that's another thread in itself.
    /hope that hel

  • Solaris Java 8 Sunray Compatibility

In April 2015, java 7 will reach it's 'end of public updates' deadline. . However, java 8 doesn't support 32 bit solaris which is required for sunray software. What is the path forward for supporting sunrays on solaris?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/8-compatibility-guide-2156366.html#CHDGHIIH
Sun Ray Software 5.3 requires a 32-bit implementation of a Java(TM) 2 Platform, Standard Edition JRE(TM) of at least 1.6.:
    3.1. Product Requirements

As you wrote, this is the public revision that will not more updated. This does not mean that we will stop to develop new updates for Java 7, but if you want these new versions you should have a valid contract to obtain them.

  • Vista Compatable Sound Bo

So am I missing the point ? As I see it Creative and now ASUS are offering the only top end sound cards for computers. Neither are VISTA Compatable or their products marketing don't list them as such. I don't think it's entirely Creative's fault. They are trying to run after Microsofts skirts in a low margin product and tying to patch up bad ( from a users standpoint) design decisions. When is either going to offer a top end sound card VISTA compatable, offering really top end h- fi capable of being input into a really top end components for?Hi Def TV and running MP3s with enhanced output and software to match . I would be willing to pay "through the nose"? ~ $ ,000 for this. As yet this market is untouched? by manufacturers. As the market for Hi end TV's and PC's, there is a growing market. Hopefully Creative realizes this. .... Maybe with the hardware scrunched down and Direct X eliminated and DRM applied to the audio stream this will never be a reality in PC's ??

My X-Fi platinum was vista compatible... I'm pretty sure the elite pro is also compatible...

  • Java C# Encryption compatibility

Would anyone happen to know or could point me to a place where I can find out the compatibility in the crypto libraries between C#/.NET and the various Java providers including JCE, BouncyCastle and Cryptix. I would need to exchange things like session keys and PBE encrypted messages. Maybe also some MD5 hashes. Now I assume that if I use the same exact algorigthm in theory the byte arrays should be identical, however in practice I'm afraid I'm going to run into issues like different algorithm implementations as well as other things such as byte order differences, String locale differences and maybe even things like Base64 encoding. So I guess what I would really love to read or see would be somekind of a review of compatibility in encrytion and a rough guide for the major issues in sharing encrypted information between Java and C#.
    Thnx for any info.
    -Igor

I know what you're looking for, and I haven't found it either.
The closest thing might be this article comparing the crypto
    support in .Net to Java:
    http://www.onjava.com/lpt/a/4415
If you end up running into compatibility issues, you might want
to consider using Bouncy Castle's C# crypto port on your .Net
    side: http://www.bouncycastle.org/csharp/index.html
Using BC on both the Java and C# side could eliminate any weird
implementation problems with the .Net libraries.
Be aware that if you go down the pure .Net route, you may end up having
to use the MS CAPICOM library from C# since it hasnt all been ported over
yet. Here's an article about how to do it: http://msdn.microsoft.com/security/securecode/dotnet/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dncapi/html/netcryptoapi.asp

  • Java SP Stack compatability across multiple component systems

I was wondering if there was a 'best practice' or 'guide' or 'other information' on how to insure the compatibility of Java stacks running varying components that either interact with each other and with backend SAP systems.
What we have are multiple Java instances:
Portal 7.01 --- Used for standard Portal processes and to be a frontend to our BI 7.0 EHP1 system could eventually use IVIEWS to run ECC transactions.
CRM  7.01 --- CRM WebClient used to connect with backend CRM 7.0 EPH1 system and WebChannel.sales and jumps to ECC 7.0 system transactions.
Basically trying to confirm / solidify the requirements of 'support pack stacks' across these systems and to identify the alignment requirements between them.
Forum searches have been made, but nothing solid in a way of an answer to clarify the SP stack levels across these varied systems.
Thanks for any forum threads posted and or documentation that we can be directed to.

  • Solved: INTERNAL_ERROR when creating container with Java on Vista

I don't know what the root cause is, but I've got a solid test case.
If I maintain a reference to the Environment used to create my XmlManager, then openContainer will barf up a mysterious INTERNAL_ERROR. Setting my reference to the Environment to null eliminates the problem.
    I'm using 2.3.10 on Vista with java 1.6. Netbeans 6.0 beta 1
    the error:
    com.sleepycat.dbxml.XmlException: Uncaught exception from C++ API, errcode = INTERNAL_ERROR

  • Question on using Java Buttons,Vista Buttons in Java

    Hi All,
In the internet i have seen some softwares like vista buttons4.0..etc..etc which creates stylished buttons with different text style and colors .But if i want to use the same created button inside my java application. How is it possible??
    regards,
    Viswanadh

To Mr. Viswanadh: cross-posting can frustrate anyone who tries to help you only to find out later that the same answer was given hours ago in a cross-posted thread. No one likes wasting their time, especially a volunteer. The polite thing to do would be to not do this, but if you feel that you absolutely must, to at least provide links in both cross-posts to each other.

  • Problem using Java under Vista - Need help, please

Hi everybody, I'm looking after a solution to resolve following problem : for one of my customer who's needing to use a secure access to a HTTPS URL, after Java is started, I receive the Java logo but it must be followed by an authentification screen where it's needed to enter a login + password. Sometimes it work (I think only when I force to reload the HTTPS certificate) but each time, the application freeze on this screen that I can see in the Task Bar but I can only close it and impossible to access it for the next step of the process. It's working on an original Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed on a Sony Vaio Laptop and I've already use the application on another computer with Vista Business without any problem. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your answer. I've just tried on my XP Laptop. Here are the steps : after several windows, the Java start into a blank window and I receive then the logo at the left side of the window. After, in this case I'm asked to accept the HTTPS certificate and remember it if I want. When accepted, I receive then new "little" window (like a dialof box) with "Authentifaction request" when I need to enter again a login + password. If I recieve this last window, it mean that all is going fine but in my "problem" case, after the Java window, I see only this authentification request onthe task bar but no way to open it or to see it on the screen but no error message except ont the java window (no answer). Perhaps one more information, indication, it appaers "Oracle Application Server Forms Services" into the title bar.

  • Windows Vista compatibility for Crviewer.DLL

Our Windows XP are installed CRVIEWER.DLL Crystal Viewer 11.5 (Version 11.5.8.826), I'd like to know does this DLL support Windows Vista, or need to upgrade to a newer DLL? Also, any known bug is this version?
