  • Having Issues With Java for installation

    Hi Guys,
I've played Football manager on my my ibook g4 for years, i installed the latest one last september and it was running perfectly, however i decided to uninstall it during a busy study period to aviod distractions, however when i went to reinstall it, it wouldn't work!!!!
The gay comes with a java installation, it begins proccessing then dies out, i spoke to someone before and they said that the java supplied with the game is probably be out-dated by the software on my computer(i update regualrly).
    Is there anyway around this?

    p.s using java 1.4.2
lemme know if you need any other information!

  • JAVA Stack installation's method for BI 7.0 (Netweaver 04s)

    Hello!
We plan to upgrade our BW 3.5 (without java stack) to BI 7.0 which need a java stack installation.
In this case we have, first, to upgrade the abap stack and then we have to install the  java stack .
There are 3 possibilities to install the java stack : as java-addin in the same database that the abap stack , or as the recommanded
SAP 'method i.e. a java installation with its own  database , that means another instance , and I think a new license to buy.
The third method is a second server to support the java stack with its own database (separate instance).
I don't understand why the second and third methods are recommanded , rather than the first.
Is it related to the SAP  Enterprise Portal  ??; (we don't use it at the moment) , or for other reasons?? Thanks..

In the event of double-stack or shared installations, ABAP and JAVA compete for main memory and CPU resources. Since BI 7.0 is resource intensive, it is advisable to install AS-Java on a different machine.
Please refer to the following SAP Notes

  • Java for OS X 2012-006 Problem Failed Installation

Hi, I have this problem with my Java for OS X 2012-006. I wanted to use a Java using application, but tells me to install a new version of Java (2012-006).
Startup runs fine but then says that the Installation Failed.
I tried this multiple times then gave up. I searched Google and it led me to:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5493
I downloaded it, Mounted the DMG and ran the .pkg
I agree to everything and then ran Install. Then the error "The Installation Failed" with a warning sign comes up, telling me to contact the software manufacturer.
So i go on to the Java website, Searched up Installation Fail "Java" and then told me to Uninstall and then Re-Install.
For Uninstalling, the files were not there. So I Ignored it.
I then donwloaded Java 7 Update 10, but soon to be the same error as the Java OS X 2012-006 error.
My Computer is a Late 2012 Macbook Pro 13-Inch.
Is there any text that logs what I am doing in the installer? If you tell me where that is, i'll give it to you.
Thanks for reading. And Please help.

And This was when i installed Java Version 7 Update 10

    Hi Sunny, hi Markus!
    many thanks for your hints!
I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
now the Listener is running as well:

  • ColdFusion 8 Fails to start after update Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 4

I have been using ColdFusion on a Mac for years. Now CF fails to start after I updated Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4. I usually start by typing in the terminal window sudo /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin/ColdFusion start.
There is a crash report but I don't know how to read it. See attached.
Please help, I need this working for my job.
    Thanks...Colin

    Dear Craig,
Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM
I'm sure that this is 64-bit
    CF 8.0.1 Enterprise Build 3080
I had moved the Java SE 6 to the top in both Plugin and Applications. The
correct version is showing in the terminal window. See below.
Last login: Thu Jun 18 11:27:09 on ttys001
    Beta-4:~ Colin$ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03-211)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.3-b02-83, mixed mode)
    Beta-4:~ Colin$
CF will not start. I have the activity monitor open, and when I start CF you
see it in the activity monitor for a few seconds as it starts up. When the
message process is completed in the terminal window CF disappears in the
    activity monitor.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Colin,
My apologies but I forgot to ask 2 questions: (1) What kind of Mac you have
(Intel or PowerPC)? (2) What version of CF are you running and what installer
    did you choose (8 or 8.0.1, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.)?
    To start, try the following:
    1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
    2. Open Java Preferences again
    3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
    Plugin and Applications)
    4. Open Terminal
    5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
    6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
    and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
    folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
    /Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
    necessary!
    Best,
    Craig

  • HT5717 Our company had to remove this Java for OS  2013-004 upgrade because it broke all of our Java installers. Does anyone know when Apple will solve this new problem?

    Hi,
People at our company installed the latest Java for OSX 2013-004 1.0 Apple Update and all of our software installers failed to run anymore. The only way to kill the installer was Apple Menu -> Force Quit after that. We all had to downgrade to Java for OSX 2013-003 to work.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
I have heard problems with that update. Unfortunately, we don't know when an update will be available. Apple often releases Java updates at the same time as Oracle, but we don't know more things

  • HT4884 java for 10.6.8 is not working

my iMac says all software is up to date but websites that need java still say that i need to update to the latest version of java.

For OS 10.6.8, I found the latest Java update didn't work right, either. I restored full functionality by reinstalling Snow Leopard from the DVD, then updating to 10.6.8, plus updating Safari, etc, BUT NOT JAVA. Java works fine as long as you don't go too far with the updates: make sure they say they're for 10.6.x .
I think the problems begin with update 11, which seems to be tailored for OS 10.7 Lion and higher, but the installer doesn't check what OS you have before updating, nor is there any warning before you click install.

  • Failed update: "Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6"

In successfully updating to OS X 10.4.11 from 10.4.10 the subject java update, "Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6", came up from Software Update. In trying to install it, it stalled at the very end of the installation. It again failed on a second try. Later on, using Spotlight, I checked my existing Java version to already be Java 1.4.2 plug-in settings -- the target update from java 1.4. Do I really need this Java Release 6? I'm running Sarafi 3.0.4 and Netscape 7.2. Thanks.

I'd be suspicious about an aborted partial install myself, have you tried the stand alone installer?
I'd Verify the HD, Repair Permissions, then get...

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
Actually, you cannot download Snow Leopard. You downloaded a Snow Leopard updater.

  • Using java for the web at large

    Hello,
i have built a interface for my client that requires the Java2 browser
plugin to work. Its not the front page or anything...but non the less
it is a page that my client payed good money for. My question is this..
due to the lack of support from MS in regardes to a current
java plugin for IE, did I as a devolper fail my client?
I feel somewhat guilty, I can code perl just fine ,And in
this situation perl whould have worked.
    Thanks for the help,
    jd

I'd have to agree with JElliot, generally the benefits of running web-enabled applications server-side outway the use of client-side applets. There are several factors to consider, but most notably...
    * Code Security
It is not difficult to decompile Java bytecode back into something which closely resembles the original source. There are a host of decompilers out there, some even include deobfuscation algorithms to make short work of any obfuscation. If your client-side applets contain valuable intellectual property which is worth an investment in trying to reverse-engineer, which they probably do considering your comments, then you can pretty much kiss your market edge good bye.
Running apps server-side through something like a web interface are inherently more secure you are providing the applications services, but not the app itself (barring any attempts to hack your server or physically break in and steal its HD :)
    * Ease of maintanence
Due to the centralised nature of a server-side app, installation and maintanence of your app is alot easier. (Im currently designing a web-based app that is going to service some pretty large engineering firms, the thought of attempting to install and upgrade every app on every computer within such firms is a little scary).
    * Ease of access
If designed to support exsisting browser technology, there is no need for installation of propietry software. This is a big selling point for companies who really dont want to spend thousands of dollars and many hours installing software onto hundreds of machines. It also means that the software can be accessed over LANs, WAN, VPN, or the Internet. (Like roaming profiles, only it works). One client asked us about a particular peice of software "Is it web-based". When we answered yes the response was a definate "we'll take it".
Mind you there is a couple of downsides to server-side stuff, namely the complexity jumps up a few notches due to the need of multiple tiers within the app just to have some sort of abstraction and workability in it all. Your often limited in interfaces as well, but in most cases people just want something that works, not something neccessarily pretty. One of the hardest concepts I've found is the idea of application state. Bassicly with web-based stuff you don't have any, and youve got to build it yourself. You can often strike a middle line, with all sorts of business logic performed server side, and only rudimentry GUI stuff in applets.
I wouldn't feel too guilty about it all. Like all things, there is a learning curve, and just getting your head around this conceptual stuff is half the battle. Once you've worked that out, then the easy stuff is coding it. The most annoying thing is when you look back in six months time and kick yourself for not realising half the stuff you know then now.

  • Requirement to be fulfilled using PI 7.3 Java only installation

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement depicted as below and need to confirm if the same is possible in PI 7.3 JAVA only
installation where there is no possibility of using ccBPM.
Step 1. System A sends web service request to PI,
Step 2. PI sends the request to System B which is a web service call
Step 3. System B sends response back to PI
Step 4. PI gets the response from System B, this response needs to transformed and mapped and sent to System C web service request.
Step 5. The response from System C needs to be sent back to System A which initiated the call.
Please give a thought based on your experience and expertise if this is possible; given the limitation of java only installation which is without ccBPM.

    Hi Shripad,
For modeling with  BPMN, refer the below guide:

SOap look up in mapping from System B response to System A should solve your issue.

  • Installing "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6" (1.0) causing problems

    Hi,
I installed the "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6" (1.0)" yesterday evening and it caused problems:
    - network
    - date/time screwed up
    - Time Machine crashed
My environment is a MacBook Pro, running 10.5.8, all latest patches applied. During the install all other applications were closed (my once in three months cleanup of the desktop , Time Machine was not running although it might have kicked in during the download, I left it alone for install and the necessary reboot. I didn't hook it up to the power, had 82% battery left, afterwards (after all repairs) still 76%, so my guess is that is not the root cause, although I did get the power source warning and waved it away during the installs.
Looking back into the logfiles and using some gut-feeling I do think somehow the date/time seeting was screwed up and caused all other problems. The date was reset to the famous Unix starttime, Jan 1, 1970. At first I didn't notice, only after my network (Airport Extreme based) asked me WPA password and then complained about the date/time I noticed something weird.
After resetting date/time, verifying the disk for problems (none found), re-entering the WPA password, network ran again, had to re-connect with the Time Capsule and check the sparse backup-volume there before I got everything up-and-running again.
Not a very big deal, but annoying, and certainly something wrong in the update here.
    Anyone any explains ?
    Regards,
    Wim.

Sorry if I missed it...have you scoured logs for anything that might shed light on success/fail during the install?
