.java icon
I changed my prefered java development tool and with it my java icon dissapeared. What I mean is, my .java files looks like they are not related to any program. It's not so bad but a little bit annoying since the .class files in the same folder has the same icon which makes it hard to distinguish which is which.
Any ideas how to change it?
Regards
//Henrik
PS. I tried the standard Windows options and that doesn't work. DS.

I earlier had a java 1.7 installed in my system. I wanted to revert the version back to 1.6. I downloaded the file JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg and installed it in my hard disk. I am not sure where it has installed it but it has successfully done it. When I open up the terminal and enter java -version it shows 1.6.0_65 version as the java version.
But in the System Preferences, Java is disabled and does not show the java as being installed. Please guide me in getting my java 1.6 back. The preferences pain shows this message when I click on the Java icon -- “Java can’t be opened because it isn’t available".

Hi,
Could some help me out. I an trying to replace the Java Icon in the title bar.
tank you in advance. Will need to use a third party image loader for ico files. The Java Advanced Imageing API may have support for .ico files, but I have never looked into that.
new ImageIcon("myicon").getImage( )Creates an ImageIcon which is not needed.
java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit( ).getImage( "myicon" );
or
java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit( ).createImage( "myicon" );Would have the same effect without loading an extra object into memory. Get image will load the image into a buffer so that other calls to getImage will return the same object. Create image will not add it to the buffer. -
Hello,
once upon the time - it was at Java 1.4 - the Java icon for windows could be found in the subdirectory \jre\javaws\JavaCup.ico.
Where can that - or a similar - Java icon be found in Java 5 and 6 installations (or elsewhere)?
Thomas WiedmannThis is the result of a find in the Java 1.5.0 directory on a Linux system:
# find . -name "*png" -print
./demo/jfc/Java2D/src/images/boat.png
./demo/jfc/Java2D/src/images/duke.png
./demo/jfc/Java2D/src/images/jumptojavastrip.png
./demo/jfc/Java2D/src/images/java_logo.png
./demo/plugin/jfc/Java2D/src/images/boat.png
./demo/plugin/jfc/Java2D/src/images/duke.png
./demo/plugin/jfc/Java2D/src/images/jumptojavastrip.png
./demo/plugin/jfc/Java2D/src/images/java_logo.png
./jre/lib/images/icons/sun-java_LowContrast.png
./jre/lib/images/icons/sun-java.png
./jre/lib/images/icons/sun-java_HighContrastInverse.png
./jre/lib/images/icons/sun-java_HighContrast.png
./jre/plugin/desktop/sun_java.png
I suggest you run a similar find on your Java directory and check to see if any of those images (change png to gif and jpg to possibly get more images) suits your needs.

Do you mean at the top of Finder windows, in the "Toolbar"?
If so, at some point in the past, you dragged (and dropped) a folder, document, or app icon from a Finder window to the Toolbar area of a Finder window. I guess you did it three times, since there are three question marks now. Where they are located in the Toolbar is where you dropped them. You may have done this unintentionally, while you were dragging an icon between Finder windows.
These are shortcuts; when you click on one in the Toolbar, it opens that folder, document, or app. Since the question marks appeared after you did some housecleaning on the Mac, they were probably shortcuts to three of those pictures or documents. And you maybe you did drop them onto the Toolbar by mistake. No big deal...
To get rid of them now, right (control) click in the Toolbar area. Select Customize Toolbar from the menu. A panel drops down with things you can customize in the Toolbar. With that panel showing, drag each of the three question marks off the Toolbar and release. It goes "poof" and disappears.
Unless you want to make some other changes to the Toolbar, click Done. -

Using Java Icons in 3rd Party Software
Hi,
First apologies if this posted to the wrong forum but I could not find any others that were suitable.
I develop a business process modelling tool that allows the user to create models that can be activated and executed as live enterprise systems.
I wish to add the ability to call java classes/methods as part of the process. No problem there, but to represent the calling of Java I would like to use the standard Java "cup" icon within the graphical model that my software displays.
Does anyone know if this is permissable by Sun? If I use Sun logo's in my software am I breaking any copyright laws etc. ? Would I need a disclaimer saying that Sun does not endorse my product if I did use it?
I can't find any info on this in the readme's. I have found some re-usable toolbar icons supplied by Sun to keep a consistant look and feel but nothing more.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
I am using Swing and building my own Dialog box, because Java doesn't provide a dialog box that asks for username/password.
My Question: I like the icons Java uses for its dialog boxes (example here: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/figures/uiswing/components/OptionDialogMetal.png )
How can I import this icon into my dialog box? Please look at here

Java Icon set: Hour glass??
Hi y'all!!
I know of the free graphics repository that provides a set of basic icons
http://java.sun.com/developer/techDocs/hi/repository/
but this set doesn't contain what I need for my app:
I would like an hour glass, like the one displayed when you change the mouse cursor to a waiting cursor, but this should be in the Metal Java look and feel.
If anyone out there knows of anyother graphics repositories which may have an hourglass.. or if you know how else I can obtain one.. please, please could you tell me! You'd be saving me a lot of unnecessary time in painfully drawing one in an icon editor.
Thanks in advance you guys - later EddHmmm, google images "hourglass cursor" and may be:

Can't get the java tray icon or the console to appear
I can't get the java tray icon or the console to appear on any system that I've tested my applications in.
I'm using Windows XP mostly and I've also tested on Windows 2000 and 2003. I'm using jre 1.6. I've already set the icon to appear and the console to show on the advanced tab on the java icon in the control panel. I've even tried another application from another author thinking it might be something in the code of my own application.
I need the console available on the client systems for troubleshooting but I can't get it to open and I can't open it manually from the tray icon because the icon is not there.
I seem to remember seeing the tray icon and the console on other systems/applications in the past so what do you think is the problem?AFAIK, the Sun/Oracle-provided "Java Console" only works (appears) with applets and Java Web Start applications. It shows some information that is unique to those environments, and provides a place for System.out data to be written.
For a Java application, if the application is started with the java command (as opposed to the javaw command) System.out data is written to the command/cmd window that is created.
If you need more that that for an application, then [this article|http://www.developer.com/java/other/article.php/630821/Creating-a-Custom-Java-Console.htm] may be of interest. It's old, but still appears to be valid. Note that current versions of Java contain a class java.io.Console. This class should be able to be used as a replacement for the custom Console class that is used in the article.
