Java installation hangs when applying patches

Hi all,
I recently removed my java application from my computer then tried to reinstall from the add on plug in in firefox. The program would hang at applying patches. After serveral cleanings of the failed attempt, and many hard reboots later (because the entire system would hang and not reboot from the start menu), i found that firefox 2.0.0.4 does not support the latest version.
I then tried the next version down.. same thing happened. So I tried to downlaod it for just IE7, that also yielded the same result. Bottom line... the program keeps hanging at applying patches, doesn't seem to do anything for at least 30 minutes, before I give up and have to hard reboot my computer.
I've tried searching the problem on google, but have found nothing that resembles my problem or fixes it, following removal and installation leads.
Please help!
XP PRO 32bit
AMD 64 dual core
IE7
Firefox

I solved this problem by installing Cryptography Toolkit.

  • JDK 6 Installer Hangs on Applying Patches

I'm having difficulty installing JDK6 Update 3 on a Windows XP box. The installer hangs forever on the applying java patches step and after a few hours I've had to kill the process. I've also tried the Update 2 installer and even a 1.5 installer, and these end up hanging as well. I've searched around the web and been unable to find any help on this, so I'm hoping someone might be able to provide some insight before I resort to reinstalling XP on the machine. Thanks in advance.

    I'm having the same problem...:-(

  • Why maintainence mode when applying patch

    Hi all,
why do we put application under maintainence mode as we already get application services down when applying patch.

    Hi,
If I google one particular scenario and provide the link (All the links will be refreenced) then it doesn’t mean that I am providing solution. If you click on the link above, you will find the document in the first 3-5 hits (not just referenced, with also many helpful comments and discussions).
Pointing the right link makes the difference. I just provided the link which I know. Not when the topic was discussed many times in the forum, we are trying to encourage the users to use the search feature in the forum and go through previous threads instead of posting redundant questions.

    thank you very much!

Solutions: Bounce the applications and check the arguments if you can increase it.  It is due to memory issue
You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

  • Java VM hangs when I start Derby Server

    Hey everyone,
Help will be much appreciated so cheers in advance.
I've made a desktop app through Netbeans that runs fine within the IDE but can't get it to work from outside (unless I've connected to the server from within Netbeans first so guessing its not the app itself rather the conenction to the server?)
I'm using Java version 1.6.0_17 and am confuzled as to why the VM hangs when I try to start the Derby server from a Batch file.
    my batch file reads:
    set DERBY_HOME = M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Sun\JavaDB
    Path = %DERBY_HOME%\bin;%Path%
    java -jar "%DERBY_HOME%\lib\derbyrun.jar" server start
    java -jar "M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Lodgements\dist\Lodgements.jar"
echo "Press any key to shutdown Server"
    pause
    java -jar "%DERBY_HOME%\lib\derbyrun.jar" server shutdown
I've checked the Derby log file and its reading
2010-02-16 09:00:37.530 GMT : Apache Derby Network Server - 10.5.3.0 - (802917) started and ready to accept connections on port 1527
Just running java -jar "M:\Business\Registers\Lodgements Registers\LodgementsDB\Lodgements\dist\Lodgements.jar"
gives all the usual java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException .... I gather because it can't find the database if the server isn't open.
The only other info I have to go on is the problem reporting in Vista which states the obvious (that the Java SE binary stopped working and was closed, tagging it with an AppHangB1)
Also, in advance, is there a more common way of starting the server from outside nettbeans (eg code) that doesn't rely on command prompt- seems daft to me not to have this (and yes I am a first time derby user, used the Toplink persistence libs throughout my code if that helps?).

Nothing is hanging, this is a misunderstanding of how a batch file works. A batch file is processed line by line, and only when the execution of the task or program (in this case your first call to Java) returns, execution will continue on the next line. As the first call starts Derby and only completes when Derby is stopped, your batch file will not continue with the next line until you kill Derby.
You either need to start Derby separately, inside your application or using a batch command to launch Derby in a separate process so the batch file won't wait until completion. AFAIK this can be achieved using the command START (eg START java (rest of the commandline))

  • OUI cannot be launched when applying patch 9.2.0.8 from CD-ROM

Hi, I need help! Could someone tell me what is wrong:
When I am trying to install the patch 9.2.0.8 from CD-ROM, I get the following error
Error: OUI cannot be launched because the current working directory is set on the CD-ROM mount point. Launching OUI from this directory will make it difficult to unmount the disk later in the installation. Please change the working directory and relaunch OUI.
The operating system is solaris 64-bit 5.9
The database is of 9.2.0.1 enterprise edition
I am running the installer from a local directory /tmp with full path to the patch installer.
When I install the patch NOT from CD-ROM or ISO, everything is fine.
    Thanks

Ensure you are not on the CD mountpoint before runing installer.
For instance, cd to oracle's home directory and run it from there.
    $cd
    $pwd
    /home/oracle
    $/cd_mount/install/runInstaller

  • Sound is hanging when changing patch.

    Hello.
The problem is that if i am pressing the sustain pedal while im changing a patch, the last notes in the previous patch stays on. it doesent goes of untill i hit the space bar or panic button.
    Help.
Could it be that i need to configurw some All notes off when changing patch? Not an idel solution but that would be better than to end upp with a hang in a live situation.

Im not expessing my self corectly.
The way i want it to work is as you describe it. The note from the selected patch sustaind untill the pedal is released. Thats the way my master keyboard (Roland A80) works.
But the problem is that it newer STOPS sustaining ( after patch change, and pedal release).
Im using a New MBP, New Motu midinterface and a Clavia Stage88 keyboard.
If MS comes with the sustain feature (and thats what i want), i will check my pedal (polarity?) delet the old pedal and make a new. mayby something whent wrong whan i created the pedal.
Does that sound like a good plan?

  • WAS java install hangs when tries to start engine

I am trying to install a WAS 640 JAVA
I recently deleted and installation off of this server, I dont know if this has anything to do with my problem.
When the new install reaches the last step of starting the J2ee it hangs.
WHat happens is it starts the SCS (dispatcher) then when it tries to start the server it starts a jlaunch process, but then the jlaunch dies.
I am on windows so If I look at the process viewer I see NO jlaonch processes. I do however see that the SCS instance is green in the MMC.
I looked at most of the logs and I can only see the generic error  sapstartserv.exe failed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jeremy Baker

Actually in the inst_dir the startEPQ.log says this
    running G:\usr\sap\EPQ\JC00\exe/sapstart.exe name=EPQ nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=SAP-QEP-DB -wait
    Service restarted successfully.
SAPSTART finished successfully on SAP-QEP-DB_EPQ_00, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:
    G:\usr\sap\EPQ\JC00\exe/sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

  • Problems when applying patch 142807-02 on clean DSEE 6.3.1

    Hello,
I just installed DSEE 6.3.1 (patching from 6.0) and I was going to apply the security patch for NSS and SASL (142807-02)
    as mentioned in the releasenotes.
However when i followed the instructions:
    # cd 142807-02/SunOS_i86pc/delivery/
    # ./Install /opt/SUNWdsee
I got alot of errors from the cp command inside the install-script:
    ....(alot more)...
cp: cannot create /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/lib/libplc4.so: No such file or directory
cp: cannot create /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/lib/libjss4.so: No such file or directory
cp: cannot create /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/lib/sasl2/libsasl.so: No such file or directory
    ...(alot more)...
In the end it worked without errors if I manually created the following directories:
    # mkdir /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private
    # mkdir /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/include
    # mkdir /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/include/obsolete
    # mkdir /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/lib
    # mkdir /opt/SUNWdsee/dsee6/private/lib/sasl2
My server instance seems to start fine after this, but it seems kindof wrong that I need to create
    these directories manually.
Is there any problem doing this? what is causing this?
My OS installation is Solaris 10 x86 64-bit (Update 7).
    Regards,
    Tobbe
