Java.io.NotSerializableException when trying to invoke java class Business Operations in studio

According to WLI docs, the Java Class Business Operations doesn't need to be Serializeable.
But somehow everytime I try to invoke the Busines Operations in studio, It always
throws me exception : java.io.NotSerializableException. Is it something wrong
with my Java Class ? The operation seems to be executed successfully but after
that It looks like WLI is trying to serialize the object into database which can
not be done because the Java Class is not serializeable. Changing the Java Class
to serializeable is not an option since I don't have any control on this class.
Please advise...

Martin

  • Still got problems with java class business operations

    Hi all,
    I've read the latest on business operations and java class files, but my problem
    remains - the workaround of putting the class file in the studio classpath did
    not work for me.
    To breifly recap the problem -
    I am unable to assign an instance variable when trying to call a predefined business
    operation of a java class. Calling the constructor seems to work okay and I can
    assign the result to a variable of type "java object" but that's as far as it
    goes. If I try placing the class file in the studio classpath, my "Instance Variable"
    dropdown list dims, but I am still prompted to choose one when I press okay.
    I'm using process integrator 2 sp2 on wls6.
    Please help!
    Regards
    Andrew

    Still no good. I'm running my testing on my own PC with windows 2000. Maybe a
    windows bug rather than a remote bug?!
    Anyone else have a suggestion?

    What platform are you running on?
    I have found the same problem when trying to run wlpi remotely.
    We have a sun box with the WLI installation. When i run wlpi on that
    box, and
    do the business operation configuration as u describe below, i get instance
    variables
    populated in the drop down box of the business operation window. I can
    then select
    the java object my instance is assigned to.
    However, when i connect remotely using the studio and try to view the
    business
    operation settings, nothing appears in the instance drop down box.
    When i go back to the console and run the studio on the same machine
    as the installation,
    the instance variable drop down is populated once again.
    So all i can say is, configure the workflow on the machine have the running
    installation,
    and then it should work. It did for me :)
    Hope this helps

    I have a imac OSX 10.5.8 and get a java "error" message when trying to use a research tool on Morningstar.Java referred me to Apple but they had no updates. Any ideas? thanks.

    Well I solved my problem.
    What still doesn't make sense though is that dragging iTune audio files directly on to the iTunes application icon gave me the error message... which is why I originally discounted it as being a potential link problem. If I had been able to get files to open normally (i.e. without an error message) I would have known it was a simple link problem. Strange.
    Anyway... relinking my folder of audio files did the trick.
    If you don't already know how here are the steps...
    iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > click on the "Change" button and browse to the folder that contains all of your iTunes audio files... that's it.

    Hi Naichen,
    I was able to successfully run both the autotype and clientgen Ant task, on the
    WSDL you provided. The code behind those Ant tasks are pretty much what the WebLogic
    Web Services test page run. Are you using WLS 8.1 SP2? If not, you might want
    to try with that version.

  • Java.lang.ClassCastException when trying to retrive a jdbc/OracleDS

    Hello friends, I'm experiencing a rare problem, "java.lang.ClassCastException" when trying to retrive the jdbc/OracleDS datasource using JNDI lookup, the exception is there, either, when running in the embebed OC4J from JDev 10.1.3.3 or when deploying (the War) to my OracleIAS (10.1.2). Actualy we are programing the DataSource and changing the URL each time we update the application (in both environment: Developer and Production), it is just a temporary "work around" while we find the real solution.
    We can't Cast a Oracle Object (oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource) to the java DataSource. Why?
    Here you have the story:
    The application wa started in Eclipse 3.2 with Tomcat 5, and we are using Struts 1.1 and Hibernate 3, in this environment we don't have problems. the problem happens during deploying the application to our Orace AS 10g (10.1.2). When googling for solution we found related problems in some forums, so we tried all the solutions explained in that post, including this. Finaly, we failed to find the solution.
    After that, we migrate the application to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, and then try the JNDI lookup and the problem STAY, then we did everything again into JDev:
    - Changed the default jdk from 1.5 to 1.4.2_06, for the projects, the embebed OC4J and the Java Compiler....
    - Configuring the DataSource manualy in the xml.
    - Testing with several jdk version, trying on embebed oc4j, standalone oc4j, Oracle IAS, and so on.
    - We have tried everything we found in the posts.
    But .... the problem still :'(.
    We have found that some guys have solved the problems with the change of the jdk and other small stuff, but all that were not enough for us.
    Have somebody found other solution for this problem or we have some alien problem here?.
    Thanks in advance.

    Fer Domin, thanks by your replay.
    The answer for your question is, YES. We have tried with several DataSource types in the Oracle side (app server,embebed oc4j, standalone oc4j) and the app side (java). Also, all jdbc datasource extend the javax.sql.DataSource .. so it's rare to have this error when doing a simple jndi lookup.
    We tried deploying a small app (from Oracle) to test the DataSource in the app server (10.1.2.0.2) and it was working well. But we don't know which jdk was used to package that ear/war (I mean the TestDS small app).
    So, everything look like we are having a jdk compatibility problem ... but we don't know which it's or where it's.... because we configure JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 to use the same jdk, even for compiling and running the embebed oc4j and the problem still.
    Thanks again.

  • NumberFormatException when trying to invoke service

    I get a client side error when trying to invoke the StockQuote web service on www.xmethods.com. The only changes I've made to the example client code (available at xmethods.com) is to handle proxies:
    Call call = new Call ();
    //set up the message to go through the proxy
    SOAPHTTPConnection transport = new SOAPHTTPConnection();
    transport.setProxyHost("proxy4");
    transport.setProxyPort(80);
    call.setSOAPTransport(transport);
    try{
    // Invoke the service ....
    Response resp = call.invoke (url,"");
    }catch(SOAPException soe){
    System.out.println("Soap Exception");
    soe.printStackTrace();
    The SOAPException gets thrown by the invoke method and the following output occurs. Help.
    Soap Exception
    [SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Client; msg=3194  ; targetException=java.lang.NumberFormatException: 3
    194  ]
    at org.apache.soap.transport.http.SOAPHTTPConnection.send (SOAPHTTPConnection.java:324)
    at org.apache.soap.rpc.Call.invoke(Call.java:205)
    at stockquoteClient.getQuote(stockquoteClient.java:45)
    at stockquoteClient.main(stockquoteClient.java:68)

    This is just a guess, but in this code: Response resp = call.invoke (url,""); the second arg to "invoke" is declared as Object[], so should it be Response resp = call.invoke (url,null); or Response resp = call.invoke (url, new Object[1] {null});Mike

    I've done some hunting around the internet for this error and I did find a problem that looks quite similar under a JBOSS forum: https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-3689 ("Creating new run configuration of type Run in Server fails with exception, jbds eclipse.buildId=1.1.0.GA"). The information presented there is almost exactly what I'm seeing:
    <cut>
    Steps to Recreate:
    1. From Run menu, select "Open Run Dialog..." or "Open Debug Dialog..."
    2. Right click on "Run on Server"
    3. Select "New"
    What you see is an "Error" dialog of Reason "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException".
    The error log records the following:
    Error
    Thu Jan 29 08:13:48 PST 2009
    Problems occurred when invoking code from plug-in: "org.eclipse.jface".
    </cut>
    In the JBOSS case, the response is:
    <cut>
    It is is a known bug in WTP 2.x and in WTP 3.x this option does not exist anymore thus you should just use Run As -> Run in Server.
    Marked as out of date since latest version of WTP 3 has the fix.
    </cut>
    I have the EHP1 installed on a couple other servers where this is not happening. Anyone run into this before?
    Alternatively, anyone know how I can check the WTP of the SAP-specific eclipse released as the EHP1 developer studio?
    Thanks very much,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    I think there is a very siple proces which you need to follow for debug. Please have a look:-
    Please check you mentioned the correct server and instance name. As you are saying that all you applications are running fine therefore I think you would have mentioned all the required parameters correctly.
    After checking all these things, follow the steps below:-
    1) From the menu in NWDS -> Click on the Debug symbol. Select "Open Debug Dialoug".
    2) Right click on the "Remote Java Application" and select New.
    3) Clickon the Source tab. Check whether you application is included under the Defualt folder. Only those projects will be debugged which are under this folder.
    4) If you application is not there. Click on Add-> Java Project -> Select your Project - > OK. Doing this will add your project in debug instance.
    5) Go to Connect tab. Mention the Host name (Same as server name you have mentioned under Window --> Preferences --> SAP AS Java ) AND the Message server port. Please note that this server port is diffrent from the http port.
    6) Just click on Debug.
    I hope after all these steps debug should work. If not please revert back.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pravesh

  • Java.io.NotSerializableException when using POF over Extend

    I changed a class to use POF and it seems to work fine among TCMP cluster members but when apps connect with Extend I get an exception indicating that maybe either the extend proxy or client app is not correctly configured to use POF.

    Looks like I spoke too soon. Moving the <serializer> to the correct location in the Extend client XML config did fix the problem I was seeing but it created a new problem. It appears the Extend client wants to use POF for everything including non-POF services like the one handling the Serializable (non-POF) object oms.Order. That's what I gather from this exception

    Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(newCL);
    System.out.println("Successfully replaced ClassLoader");
    Class fooClass = newCL.loadClass(appClass); //which replaces the line "Class<?> tempFileClass = Class.forName("TempFile");" ?!Is that what I need to do?
    EDIT: I've tried that but I still have the same problem:
                      File classFile = new File ("TempFile.class");
                      ClassLoader oldCL = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
                      ClassLoader newCL = new URLClassLoader(new URL[] {classFile.toURL()}, oldCL);
                      Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(newCL);
                      System.out.println("Successfully replaced ClassLoader");
                      Class tempFileClass = newCL.loadClass("TempFile");
                      Method main = tempFileClass.getMethod("main", String[].class);
                      main.invoke(null,new String[0]); Edited by: Foobrother on Jul 28, 2008 8:18 AM

  • Java.lang.SecurityException when trying to execute Workflow-Java-API from Servlet

    I'm trying to call some of the Oracle Workflow-Java-API Classes/Methods from a servlet running on OC4J.
    The following Code-Sample is exactly copied from the WFTest Example shipped with Oracle-Workflow:
    wfDB = new WFDB(user, ident, "jdbc:oracle:thin:@", "host:1521:tnsstring");
    String charset = System.getProperty("CHARSET");
    if (charset == null) {
    charset = "UTF8";
    ctx = new WFContext(wfDB, charset);
    if (ctx.getDB().getConnection() == null) {
    throw new Exception ("Keine Verbindung zum Workflow");
    On OC4J integrated in JDeveloper everything works fine when i run my test-servlet with this code.
    On 9ias with OC4J running on a SuSE-Linux Server i get the following Error:
    java.lang.SecurityException: class "oracle.apps.fnd.wf.WFContext"'s signer information does not match signer information of other classes in the same package

    As you can see, the first Workflow-API-Object (WFDB) gets correctly instantiated. But the second one crashes.
    The java.policy and java.security files are exactly identical on both machines, my PC and the Linux-Server.
    Where might be the problem ?
    How can we fix this ?
    thanks in advance for any help
    Ralf

    okay, okay,
    my/our own fault.
    To prevent anyone else of makeing the same mistake, a short decription:
    We stored the wf????.jar files inside the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext directory.
    The correct way is to let them inside $ORACLE_HOME/jlib dir of the oracle db and extend the classpath, respectively add the following lines to 'orion-application.xml' of the app.
         <library path="$ORACLE_HOME/jlib/wfapi.jar" />
         <library path="$ORACLE_HOME/jlib/wfjava.jar" />

    is this the code u mean?
    i had put this code inside it but the problem still remain the same
    if (jTable2.isEditing()) {
                jTable2.getCellEditor().stopCellEditing();
            }i had found a new thing that when i just double click the cell without change any data inside the table
    and click the button "Save". the same exception which is
    java.io.NotSerializableException: java.lang.reflect.Constructor
    will come out again.
