  • Java won't update - A newer version is already installed

    Hello all,
I'm operating on a MacBook Air that i recently updated to OS X 10.9.2. Along with the update, Java 7 was installed. I need to have Java 6 Update 20 installed to use some programs on this computer for work. I've gotten the files to install that update, but when I attempt to do so I receive a message stating that I cannot install on my disk. A newer version is already installed.
I've gone into finder > Go to Folder and deleted the Java folder after uninstalling java in the first place. This has not fixed my issue. Please advise. I'm sorry if this is in the incorrect format. I wasn't able to post to the applications group.

  • SAP Installation java error package j2sdk-1_4_2_16-fcs is already installed

    Hi All,
    I need one help.
I am trying to install SAP ECC 6.0 in REDHAT Linux 5.0 and Database Oracle 10.2.
I have downloaded the below two java files
    j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.bin
    j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586-rpm.bin
I uncared the file j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.bin. Then I searched and come to know we have to install the .rpm file, so I deleted the /java folder (perhaps a mistake, I didn't use the uninstall command).
Then I uncared the file j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586-rpm.bin  and tried to run the below rpm command to install the java package. Now I am getting the below response
    rpm -iv j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.rpm
    Preparing packages for installation...
    package j2sdk-1_4_2_16-fcs is already installed
Please help me how correct this error.
I searched and found the below command to replace the already installed java file, with the new file.
    rpm -iv --replacepkgs j2sdk-1_4_2_16-linux-i586.rpm
but it does not worked facing the below error
    --replace:unknownoption.
    Please help me, thanks.
    Thanks,

  • Error: Java Runtime Environment seems to be already installed

    Hi
I have been trying to install VDI core on Linux(Centos - 5.5 64 Bit) but unable to do so because of the error Common agent container is not installed on this system. I have checked and found that the cacao 2.2 is installed on the server but the service is unable to start during the OS boot up. I have tried all the possible ways to re-install but got no luck.
So Finally got another box with solaris 10 update 9 running on Intel. Even this one is not letting me continue the installation. I was getting the below error when trying to install the VDI.
As the below error seeems to be something related to the java, i tried removing the java packages. But still unable to get the installation up and running fine.

    Any quick would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I hope this thread isn't dead, because I have nearly the identical message to the previous poster and was hoping to find out how you got around the error. Any luck?

  • Java for OS X 2012-006 says "A newer version is already installed"

    ...which is true.
I downloaded the latest Java update today on OS X Lion 10.7.5 (and some other updates).
I also updated to the latest Java from Oracle (so I was running 1.7 u9 and 1.6 u37). But, the Apple Java update today looks like it got rid of /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences, so I was having some trouble trying to figure out another problem.
Fast forward a bit and I've hosed up everything. I have Oracle 1.7 u7 installed, but need the Apple 1.6 stuff still. However, when I go to install it, I get the error above: "Alert: A newer version of this package is already installed."
However, at this point I've deleted a bunch of files in /System/Libraries, in /Libraries, and there is no /usr/bin/java or /usr/libexec/java_home, etc.
Where in the world does Installer find the previous version and know it's already been installed? Can I somehow make it forget it installed it once and just have it reinstall?

OK, I think I fixed it (sort of).
I had tried editing /System/Library/CoreServices/JavaVersion.plist and adding in an older version of Java, but maybe it was looking at the timestamp of the file? I eventually downloaded an earlier version of Apple's Java and manually extracted the packages/contents into a temporary directory. Then I copied over a few directions/executables into the reals /System/Library/Java* areas.
I re-ran the 006 update and it stuck. I'm guessing the JavaVersion.plist file was it but I don't know for sure (would love to know for sure how Installer.app knows what is installed, where it looks, etc).
I think this also blew away my Oracle Java 7 install, but that's okay for now because I think I can reinstall that easier.

  • Java windows pops-up - but Java 8 u20 already installed

    Hi!
Since Yosemite GM 1.0 a windows pops-up asking for an Java update .... but I already installed latest Java 8u20 JRE update.
..... but Yosemite is asking me again and again to install it again .... I sent a feedback by Yoesemite-feedback-assistent already ... but even with GM 2.0 no changes.
    Anybody else?
    Best

Since installing Java 8 Update 25, I've downloaded Chrome 64-bit beta and I've tried using Safari (64-bit) as my default browser...still, I am being told to install Java 8.

  • Add-ons Manager Says Java Needs Update, But Latest Version Already Installed

I have Java version SE7 U51 10.51.2.13 installed and working fine. Today I "upgraded" to FF 28.0. Now the Add-Ons Manager says Java is out-of-date, but when I go to the Java website, this is the very latest version available. I downloaded both the 32- and 64-bit versions anyway (though I had already installed them a month ago) and re-installed both. The FF Add-Ons Manager still has same warning: "Vulnerable- Update Now!" The Java Test page says I have the latest version, and it works.
So what the heck to do?

Never mind- found the answer. It's the same old silly runaround between Firefox and Oracle. The Firefox link send you to the wrong Java version (outdated) and you have to find the correct Oracle webpage that now has Java version 8 (actually v.1.8.0 plug in 11.0.2.132) and download and install THAT. It would be nice if this were simpler...

Try moving the files in /export/home/var/sadm/patch and /export/home/var/sadm/patch back to their correct locations.
You might then find that updatemanager works as expected again. Did you ever stop to think what those directories were used for?

  • How should i know that i have or already installed these in my database?

my question regarding the steps in Post Installation Actions in installing patchset Oracle 9i Data Server 9.0.1 Patch Set 4 for Sun SPARC Solaris (32 bit Database)
I'm not very sure about the instruction..
How should i know that i have or already installed these in my database?
Should i run all even if i don't know whether i use them or not?
Or should i do nothing, and continue to my next patch installation?
-Execute the following step only if you have JAVA enabled in your database:

    Plz advise..
    Regards,
    Rushdan Md Saad.

It all depends. You don't NEED anything, Firefox runs just fine with it's default setup, and you don't need to install anything to fully experience the best of the web. But lets say you don't like ads. Install Adblock plus. Lets say you want to change themes, there are dozens of them. It's all personal preference.

  • OIM91 Weblogic Install: Cannot Install because already installed

I am attempting to install OIM 9.1 with Java 142_15 for Weblogic 8.1 SP6 server.
When I get to the server input information, after I press next, it gives the following error:
"Oracle identity Manager Installer has found that Oracle Identity Manager is already installed on specified BEA Weblogic."
Here is what our env looks like:
We have 1 instance of OIM on JBoss (we have since removed)
We are installing into a brand new DB.
We have never installed OIM on Weblogic before
The Weblogic server being installed on is brand new
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks-

    Also, see Note:457067.1
    Bug No.      5568196
When a environment variable with string 'Xellerate' is set on a machine, the
OIM 9011 installer will fail to install OIM. A message is shown that OIM is
already installed and installer will not move forward beyond the screen where
admin server, managed server names and ports are entered (incase of
    weblogic).
This should either be documented or the check shouldn't be made during the
    installation.

  • SAP CRM 5.0 ABAP + Java - Need to install JCRM

    Hi everybody.
I've already installed a SAP CRM 5.0 ABAP´+ Java system but when installing i've only selected to install CRM APP components and didn't select JCRM CRM Java Components.
I've also patched Java components with JSPM.
Can i install those components (JCRM) now that system is already installed? How can i do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Romina,
Yes you can install it later not just for CRM but for any SAP Solution from the Business Suite or SAP NW04s.
You have to start JSPM and select Install Additional Usage Type and select JCRM.
Make sure after you install the new type to check your software components
http://HOST:5XX00/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo. to see if all your components are in the correct stack.
    Best regards,
    Juan Jose Alvarado

  • Installing SAP MI 7.0 in the already installed NW 7.0 system.

    Hello,
We have SAP Netweaver system 7.0 with UTs EP,PI,BI. Now we want to have MI also installed for Mobile time and travel application. How can i install MI in the already installed NW 7.0(ABAP + JAVA) system. Does installing MI means - installing MI ABAP server component and installing MI JAVA server component??. If so, how can i install these in the NW 7.0 system. Could you also please tell me, what are all the software components i need to download for this.
We are on Solaris SPARC 64 bit with DB2 UDB.
You help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • 1.4 Installer says 1.4 is already installed, but it was uninstalled

the 1.4 installer says that 1.4 is already installed, even though I uninstalled it. It then gives me an option to uninstall my non-existant 1.4, which obviously fails.
I tried looking into the registry, but couldn't find anything that stood out. Any hints how the installer determines that 1.4 is installed?
    thanks!

After reading a message from Installation Error with JRE1.4, it gives me an idea to resolve the problem here. I tried my theory and it works:
    1. Run window registry editor from Start->Run, enter:
    regedit
    2. Delete the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft
if you have other java versions on your computer then just delete the keys associated with 1.4
    3. find the Java 2 version 1.4 clsid key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{jave 2 clsid key} and then delete it. Since I have no idea what is the clsid key, so I open each folder in the Uninstall folder till I find the display name = Java 2 Runtime Environment....1.4. Write down the folder name which is the clsid key before you delete the file.
    4. Then delete the following directory C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{clsid for java 2 v1.4 from step 2}
    5. From Add/Remove Program, you'll see that Java 2... is removed.
