Java is disabled on my iMac.

I've followed instructions to enable java 6 and upgraded to 7 and nothing works.  I've enabled JAVA on my web browsers, but when i go to the JAVA site to test if it's been installed, I get an error message telling me it has not been.  I need JAVA to do a remote session with work.  No problems with this on my pc and I'm getting frustrated.  Any ideas how to enable JAVA?  Thanks

Repair permissions and restart your computer.  See if that works out for you.

  • HT1338 I need to bulk upload to Auctiva (auction software) but Java was disabled on my computer. I have 10.5.8 so does this mean that I can't use Java? If not, then is there a workaround to be able to use the bulk uploader from Auctiva?

I need to bulk upload images from iPhoto to Auctiva (auction software) that will then be posted to eBay; however Java was disabled on my computer some time ago due to "known issues."  I have 10.5.8 so does this mean that I can't use Java? If not, then is there a workaround to be able to use the bulk uploader from Auctiva? As it stands now, I have to upload photos individually which is super time consuming.

You can re-enable it for special purposes, opposite of disabling it...
Disable Java in your Browser settings, not JavaScript.

If you installed the Oracle Java runtime, there's a preference pane named Java in System Preferences.

  • "Java Script Disabled on your browser. Please Enable it."

I tried to log-in to this site:
    but instead got this message:
"Java Script Disabled on your browser. Please Enable it."
I have already enabled JavaScript in settings, but it gives the same error. When I tried doing the same in Internet Explorer (v9), everything was working fine. Please tell me what to do.

The problem is there's a glitch in the javascript of http://edudel.nic.in/mis/MisAdmin/frmMisLogin.aspx
There's a form element with an ID of "txtpassword", but in their validation function, they call it with getElementById("txtPassword"). Obviously a case issue, but it apparently works in IE.
I created a workaround for a user I met in #firefox, a simple greasemonkey script that replaces the function with a fixed version.

  • My JavaScript already Enabled but my bank site shows me java script disabled and am not able to transfer my fund online

I have alrady enabled java script but my bank website prompt me that java script disabled so for thesame am not able to pay or transfer my funds online.

Java and JavaScript are not the same thing. To ensure the JavaScript is enabled, go to the Options dialog and select the Content panel and make sure that "Enable JavaScript" is selected. There are add-ons that can block JavaScript, if you have an add-on such as NoScript, make sure that it has not blocked your bank site.
If you are still having problems, try running Firefox in [[safe mode|Firefox safe mode]], this will disable add-ons and can be used to see if an ad-on is causing the problem. If it works in safe mode, follow the procedure in the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article to identify which one is doing this.

  • MobileMe syncing disabled on my iMac

I have an iMac running OS10.5.8, an iPhone 3GS running OS4.0.2. I also have Outlook at work on a PC. Using MobileMe, I used to be able to sync my calendars & contacts between Outlook, my iPhone and iCal. Although the calendars sync between Outlook and my iPhone, so I know MobileMe works, the MobileMe sync is disabled on my iMac! When I plug my phone into iTunes I get a message saying that "syncing is disabled on this computer". It allows me to override for syncing podcasts, etc., but not for regular ongoing MobileMe syncing of calendars. In System Preferences->MobileMe-->Sync is grayed out.

Has your mobile me account expired and have not been auto renewed?

  • Disable iMessage on imac

how do I disable imessage on imac?

Open up iMessage preferences. Click on the accounts in the sidebar and either uncheck the enable account box or sign out of the account.
You can also delete all accounts from the list. Or, open Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and uncheck Messaging for each account.

  • ECC disabled in my iMac

Last night  I increased the RAM from 1.5 GB to 2 GB by swapping out the .5 GB to 1 GB.
When I checked the System Profiler for RAM it confirmed that there was 2 GB RAM however it noted that ECC is disabled in that iMac.
The said  iMac is the "Core 2 Duo" 2.16 17-Inch which as best as I understood the Apple Tech Guy  is the "build-to-order" configuration of the iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 17-Inch (Late 2006). ( What did he say? )
Was i sold a bad bad bad stick of one GB RAM ?
What exactly is ECC, why is it disabled and HOW do we enable the ECC ????????

ECC stands for Error Correction and Checking, your iMac doesn't use ECC ram.

  • Disable sound on imac in target display mode

Have a question about disabling the sound.
I have a MacBook Pro connected to my iMac by the thunderbolt cable. I enable the target display mode on iMac with a script for disabling some configurations on iMac ( including the bluetooth for mouse and keyboard steal ).
I set the sound output in the MacBook Pro to the iMac DisplayPort.
The problem is now i have both outputs on iMac speakers. i want to disable all sound from iMac but keep the output from MacBook Pro on iMac speakers.
    Is this posible?
    Thanks.

Humm... I might go TosLink between the iMac and the FastTrack and then run the USB connection to the MacBook Pro when your using it in Target Display Mode.
Or vise Versa, leave the USB connected to the iMac and use the TosLink connection for the MacBook Pro.

  • Is running local Java applets disabled in Safari 6?

Ever since updating to Mountain Lion—and Safari 6—locally stored Java applets don't work any more. A quick test in JavaScript:
    navigator.javaEnabled();
returns FALSE if the page is on the file server, and TRUE if the exact same page comes from a web server. Unfortunately these pages can't be delivered over a web server, they have to run from a file server.
Anyone know how to get applets to run locally in Safari? I've opened up Gatekeeper to run all apps and poked around the Java settings to no luck. I don't even get a "Inactive Plug-in" message, just...nothing. Am running both the Apple JRE6 as well as the most recent Oracle version 7u7.
    Cheers

Java is locked down SO tightly now. I had local Java applets that ran fine in Firefox but wouldn't run in Safari. My friend did a little troubleshooting with me and figured this out:
    1) In Safari > Preferences > Advanced, check "Show Develop menu in menu bar"
    2) In Safari > Develop, select "Disable Local File Restriction"
    Hope this helps!

  • I installed Mountain Lion tonight, but the Java that was on my iMac before has now disappeared.  How can I reinstall it?

How do install Java on my iMac now that I am running Mountain Lion?  It was on my iMac before, but has now disappeared.

You ought to get a dialog asking to install the first time you run an app that needs it
    Details here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167855/installing_mountain_lion_what_you_need_t o_know.html
    The relevant bit is this:
Note that the first time you try to load a webpage or run an app that requires Java, Mountain Lion will prompt you to download and install the Java runtime, even if you upgraded from Snow Leopard or Lion and you’d previously installed Java. This is normal—you shouldn’t worry that installing Mountain Lion somehow “lost” any of your data or apps.
Or you can go to the Apple Downloads page and search for Java
