Java Issues

"The page “PopCap Games - Bookworm” attempted to load Java content, but Java is unavailable or not installed."
I have been getting this alot when I click on something. I was trying to get my settings right for NASCAR.com and I am not sure what settings need to be fixed. I know I have Java on my machine. Anyone know why it could not be working?

Hi
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Are you using an Intel machine?
Make sure the "enable java" and "enable javascript" boxes are selected in Safari Preferences>Security panel.
If they are selected, make sure you have the latest version for your Intel machine. Java has a cache file, which you can clear. Do so by going to the Utilities folder>Java>J2SE 5.0 and removing any items in the cache. Also, select preferences in the Java menu. My panel looks like this:
Make sure your panel shows Java J2SE 5.0 at the top of the list (you can drag it there). Also, if Java 1.4.2 is installed in your system (Utilities folder>Java), open Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.app and click on the Cache panel>View. There you can remove any cache items.
Restart Safari and try a Java site.
If no go, try Safari from another User Account. In case you need it, here's direction for creating the account:
Here is guidance from Apple on how to set up the account. You can ignore step 7 in the article.
Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If Java works in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem.
Post back.

  • Just updated my MacBook Pro to 10.6.8 and now my Filemaker 11 databases (.fp7) do not view properly on my desktop.  Is this a java issue?

    Hi,
    Wondering if anyone knows what's going on with my Filemaker Database that will not view properly on my desktop after upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6.8 on
    my MacBook Pro.   Is this a Java issue?  The data is all there but all I see is blank boxes when I open or click on a specific area in the database.
    My Java version is SE 6 1.6.0.37-bo6-434.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
    or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
    Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

  • As of today 7-19-2011, my mouse pointer has started to flicker & when I move it I see it when I'm not It disapears disappears, this just started a while ago, could it be a jave issue?

    I finished posting on games forums, and went to a different page and as I stated in the Question section, my mouse pointer stated Flickering when I move it around and when I stop, it disappears. I restarted my PC thinking that would clear it up, as my daughter was playing a game on the PC for many hours today, and I even checked to see if the browser is up to date and it is, as per Help -> About Fire Fox. This have never happened before & I have been using Fire Fox for a long time, or if it is a plugin? Or if is a Java Issue.

    Hello cor-el,
    Thank you for the reply, and I did try searching first, when I did not find a solution, I post my question. I did read through the solutions and what to do, and I am using the default theme, so there was no need to disable that option. I did not even get to go through all the options to see what was causing the issue. As soon as I received a message in my e-mail that you replied, I came straight here and when I did, the issue of the Flickering mouse pointer seemed to correct it's self. It just stopped and has not happened again, since and that is why I waited to reply to you, to make sure that it had stopped.
    I thank you again & greatly appreciate your assistance.

  • Java issue with web analysis

    Hi,
    Web analysis is taking too long to start on client machines. I had this issue a couple of years ago with java 1.4.10. hyperion came back with a solution to increase the memory java uses on both the server and the client.
    »Xms128m -Xmx256m -Xss2m » in the Java plug-in (Control Panel>Java plug-in>Advanced)
    I cannot see on java 1.5.11 how to add this in. Java 1.5 was meant to make web analysis faster. In some environments it has but in this partilcuar case web analysis is very slow.
    I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest a way to make web analysis faster.
    The server environment is unix. Can a cache setting be added to java?
    The client issue is the most pressing one.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan

    Hi,
    Go to Java Control Panel, select the Java tab. You'll see Java Applet Runtime Settings section. Click View and fill the Runtime Parameter with your settings.

  • What does Apple plan to do about the JAVA issue?

    I was out of town on business last week and took my brand new MacBook Pro with me to stay connected to my work VPN.  However, I was unable to connect to the VPN the entire time I was away.  I found out from out IT department today that it is due to Apple not allowing any programs that require JAVA.  Is anyone else dealing with this issue?  What is being done about it?  If I cannot use my laptop to connect to my work VPN then it is useless to me.  If Apple does not come up with a solution quickly, I will be returning my brand new MacBook Pro for a windows based laptop that allows me to function at work.  This is a shame because I was very excited to have an apple laptop....very disappointing!

    There was a major vulnerability in Java that was being actively exploited to drop malware on both Windows and Mac OS X. Oracle, who is responsible for Java, was slow to get a fix out, so Apple blocked the vulnerable versions of Java in the web browser. (Mozilla did the same with their Firefox browser.) Updates are now available for Java that work in Mac OS X again.
    Java has been a repeat source of major vulnerabilities and malware over the last couple years. It is EXTREMELY insecure. If your business is relying on web-based Java applets for secure communications, your business' IT department is collectively insane.

    This is a tad bit more text than I am used to, and am wondering about the console.jar and "Virtual Machines" as I"ve not seen these before. Any ideas? Anything I should worry about?
    Oh, Java test site says Java is working fine and is the most recent version.

    I´m also for a week now with a big problem in Mail - hundreds of messages got blank and disappeared after "rebuild", now it won´t even synchronize. I put this in a thread in the Mail forum, but solutions only go as far as backups - which I don´t have. It started after installing the last Java patch and it still the same after updating to 10.6.5 and permission repair (which shows:
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    to sum up: Sent mails are lost, received mails before certain dates (few days back in 1 account, years back in another and no trouble in the third one) won´t get downloaded again, even with new setup of the account - and all started after the java patch.
    Help is very appreciated (maybe I can restore my sent mails from somewhere?!)
    Dani.

  • OS X Lion DMG and Java Issues

    I have a serious issue with my Lion installation.  In the process of upgrading from Snow Leopard through 10.7 to 10.7.1 to 10.7.2 somewhere in there, Java got badly broken.  I tried re-downloading Java for Lion and reinstalling but it gives me an idiot message that my OS version is not compatible.  ***?
    So I open the package with Pacifist and do an install to default location from the top of the package and all the Java stuff works again.  But then within about three days I can no longer open DMG files.  I double click them and nothing happens.  Disk utility won't launch.  If I reinstall the 10.7. combo update, Disk Utility works and DMG files open but if I try to connect to a streaming Java service such as used by Go To Webinar, I never get anywhere.  So I am at the point where I can either work with DMG files OR I can use Go To Webinar but not both.
    This is idiotic to me, but I cannot even begin to figure out why Java gets broken by applying an update and why my ability to work with DMG files keeps going away and if the two are actually related or there is just some weird timing juxtaposition.
    Anyone who has seen this problem and figured out a solution, please wade in.
    Thanks!
    Ross

    Well, the issue doesn't seem to be in your User since the Combo Update doesn't touch anything in your User Account. This being the case and assuming you have a backup of your account on another disk, I'd do a clean install of Lion. Then in Setup Assistant migrate over all your stuff.

  • Unity - Greeting Player in Browser -- Java Issue

    Guys,
    I have Unity conneciton 9.x,   The embed Java greeting player is not working..
    I suspect one of these reason :
    Java version ( too rescent )
    Too much security on Java
    Browser version issue
    ... I have try many thing,  lower security, try 3 different browser, but nothing.. .I can't see the player.
    Anyone can suggest me something ?
    thanks

    Is there any error message? Or the Media Master is not seen at all? And complete Unity Connection version? Output of 'show version active'.
    There are a few defects with Java 7 and CUC 9,
    CSCum81926 - Media Master not working properly on Internet Explorer with java 7
    CSCug57088 - Cisco PCA Greetings Page Java Errors with JRE 7
    CSCuo44795 - Media Master Java Error: Missing Required Permission manifest attribute
    CSCug94328 - Not able to save recording in CPCA recorded via computer over Java 7
    CSCuo66204 - UC: Media Master issue
    CSCtw45908 - Trap call not woking on build CUC: 9.0.0.67
    CSCuo94694 - Media Master jar signing Certificate expiry issue
    CSCue74920 -  Media Master Playback& Recording and Help not working with win 7/java 7
    Also try this,
    Go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced Tab > Disable Verification
    There is a patch released by the developers for most of the defects. Either upgrade the server to a fixed version or open a TAC case to get the patch. The patch may not solve your issue and this could be a new issue as well. Happens all the time when Java releases new versions.

  • Embedded Printer Webpage & Java Issues

    I work with many LaserJets daily and I also do a great deal of troubleshooting for them. I`ve been able to figure out or I just simply knew how to fix many of the problems our printers present. They are all very old devices. They are the following, along with the number of each that I`m responsible for:
    -HP LaserJet 4100 (12)
    -HP LaserJet 4050 (3)
    -HP LaserJet 3052 (23)
    -HP LaserJet M1522n (1)
    -HP LaserJet 1200 (1)
    -HP LaserJet 1300 (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet 4600 (4)
    -HP Color LaserJet 3700 (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet CP2025dn (1)
    -HP Color LaserJet 2605dn (1)
    It`s not a huge number of printers but there is high demand for printing and when I get calls for printers offline, it is almost always the same issue...the device has been assigned a new IP.
    Now I`m aware that setting the cinfiguration to Manual, or static, thge IP will stick to its printer and not change. I have set most of them to have a static IP but others use an old, external Jet Direct print server. You know, the kind that have the big paralell port. I can`t seem to access those device`s embedded webpages no matter what I do and I`ve done jkust about everything. I keep getting a message that says the Java plug-in needs to be updated. I updated it and nothing. Still blocks me from accessing the webpage. I need to access the webpage to more easily make changes without having to run around campus troubleshooting.
    Any idea on what could be causing the print server embedded webpage to not display? I get security warnings too, but tried alteringf those and still no luck.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello RaelS.
    To reset the EWS user name and password, you can try reset network settings to default.
    Setup - Network - Restore Network Defaults.
    Cheers!

  • Oracle / Java Issue

    Hello Everyone,
    My problem is that my oracle database I am pulling my data from has bullets inside of the fields. Now, a bullet is part of the extended ascii character set, ie takes 2 bytes. So, I tried to fix the issue with the following code:
    Where DB_Results is a result set object.
    try {
    InputStream myInput = DB_Results.getUnicodeStream( i );
    InputStreamReader myReader = new InputStreamReader( myInput, "UTF-8" );
    char []argh = new char[myInput.available()];
    myReader.read( argh, 0, myInput.available() );
    File myFile = new File("/html/https-orgunit/test/matt/testing" + i );
    OutputStreamWriter myOutput = new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream( myFile ), "UTF-8");
    myOutput.write( argh, 0, argh.length );
    myOutput.flush();
    myOutput.close();
    catch(IOException e) {}
    My problem is, I keep getting a 0 byte file, can anyone shed some light on this?
    I realize that getUnicodeStream is deprecated, but I think it should still work for my purposes.
    Thanks,
    -Matt

    Couple of blind suggestions to try (no promises though):
    1. Try using getBinaryStream() and let Java convert the results.
    2. Do all this using a PreparedStatement for the query.
    Seems to me I had this (empty stream) problem using a regular Statement query. When I switched to a PreparedStatement, it miraculously worked. I never have figured out why.

  • Windows XP and Wierd Java Issue

    I apologize ahead of time if i am vague in some of my details, i can find more information if more is needed. I work on the helpdesk for a pretty large not-for-profit company and we have begun to see a bit of weirdness that seems to revolve around Java in some way.
    Alittle Backgroud:
    We have an in-house built application that runs heavy on Java, again, i can get more details when needed. It runs fabulously 99% of the time, it is just that recently we have see a growing trend on our Windows XP desktops. The program will be up and running, no issues, the user will then begin doing something else, it seems most of the time it is in IE 8 (web based) and then switch back to the Java application and find that the mouse no longer works within the application. You cannot click on anything, menus, close window x in the corner, nothing. Keyboard commands, alt+whatever, still work and tab allows you to navigate throughout the application fine. The only solution is to reboot the computer and then it works fine. PLUS, if we go into control panel and then open the Java Control Panel, that also doesn't respond to mouse clicks as well, but tab and enter works fine.
    It has happened on multiple different computers in the company, same configuration, but never accessing the same thing or doing the same task, yet something seems to be breaking the java or something. We have tried to turn on the logging in Java Console, it shows nothing useful. We have checked event viewers, NOTHING at all.
    We are unable to recreate it and it seems to happen at random times but always crashes mouse functionality in JAVA. It is really getting frustrating to the IT dept as well as the user base and i was just wondering if anyone has seen ANYTHING similar to this or have any suggestions to trying to track down the culprit process/program doing this.
    Any Help would be appreciated.

    Do a "echo %CLASSPATH%" at the DOS prompt...You should see the directory in which you installed Java...
    Example:
    CLASSPATH=c:\j2sdk1.4.1;.; where (".") = the current directory.
    Your JVM cannot find the class file because you have not set the CLASSPATH enviroment variable. Your PATH enviroment variable sounds like it is ok because your OS(Windows, etc) is able to find the java, javac, jar, etc commmands.
    Hope this helps.

  • Java Issue (Java for OSX 2012-004)

    Getting the following issue with java, only gives me the option to Deny, not Allow. Have tried going into Java Prefrences and have the following Settings in the attached screenshots.

    The correct version for the OS X and computer hardware
    should appear in the Software Update utility when run.
    Though it may not appear to make much difference,
    to run Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions' before
    and after updates to software and security updates
    is still a well advised precaution. Doesn't hurt to boot
    the computer into SafeBoot mode on occasion, & run
    the D.U.'s repair disk permissions, that way; & restart.
    Not sure why a non-correct java version would be
    requested by an application; the Leopard version
    of java won't work in Tiger, when one is specified.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Newbie help with 12i and firefox java issue

    We are in the testing stages for a 12i upgrade. I’m currently testing browser and java version compatibility using an upgraded test system. My problem is the version of java on the desktop client. IE7 will launch the apps fine with any version of java. However, any version of Firefox (including just released v3) will not launch java unless java version 5 update 13 is loaded. I’ve reviewed several metalink docs including 389422.1 and 393931.1 and have used the workaround listed forcing FF to use the older version of java. However, that means that we will have to roll out this older version of java to all clients to use Firefox. During my research I found where Oracle provides a techstack update for 11i (290807.1) that will fix this issue and allow Firefox to work with newer versions of java. Has anyone else run into this issue and if so how did you address it? Is there a 12i update that will fix this issue? I’m a newbie that’s started supporting Oracle, etc. so forgive me for any ignorance I show on the subject. Thanks in advance.

    Tod,
    It sounds like your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 instance is configured to request end-users to use JRE 1.5.0_13.
    Firefox has a known limitation (or feature, depending on your point of view): it will invoke only the specified JRE version requested by the E-Business Suite, even if later versions of the JRE (e.g. 1.6.0_03) are installed on the same desktop.
    This behaviour is explained in more detail in Note 290807.1 in Appendix A. Since this behaviour is hardcoded into Firefox, your options are:
    1. Configure your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 environment to request a later version of JRE installed on your Firefox-equipped desktops
    2. Use IE -- it doesn't enforce static versioning.
    3. Contact the Mozilla team and request that they provide a new option to use either static versioning (the status quo) or the latest JRE version installed on the desktop.
    Regards,
    Steven
