Java.lan.Class cast()

Question

I know that java.lang.Class contains a method called cast( ) (public T cast(Object obj)), in the description of this method is said that it casts an object to the class or interface represented by this Class object.It returns an object after casting and as I understand it must return an object of this type which is represented by Class object.But in my programm it returns an object which type is Object, is it right?
Please, give me an example with this method.

getClass().cast() vs just (ClassType)? Something
related to compiler optimizations? Or is it just an
alternate way of casting?It uses reflection. Mostly because it can, I think.
The advantage is it's dynamic, the disadvantage is
it's slower.The following line of code does not use reflection...
String oCasted = s.getClass().cast(o);
It is probably slower because the code does a method call. But the method itself just does a cast.
