Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError using BasicHttpContext
Hello
I want to write a simple ChatClient.
package com.inz.chat.client;
import java.io.IOException;

import org.apache.http.HttpEntity;
import org.apache.http.HttpResponse;
import org.apache.http.client.ClientProtocolException;

import org.apache.http.client.methods.HttpGet;
import org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient;
public class ChatClient
private HttpClient httpClient;
private String servletUrl;
public ChatClient(String urlPrefix)
this.servletUrl = urlPrefix + "ChatServlet";
this.httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
connectWithServer();
private void connectWithServer()
System.out.println("connect to " + servletUrl);
HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(servletUrl);
try {
HttpResponse response = this.httpClient.execute(httpget);
HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity();
if (entity != null)
InputStream instream = entity.getContent();
} catch (ClientProtocolException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
} catch (IOException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
public static void main(String[] args)
String prefix = "http://127.0.0.1:8080/InzChat/";
new ChatClient(prefix);
}But when i start the program i always get:

Next to the jre1.6 classes and the tomcat 6 classes I have appframework-1.03.jar, commons-codec-1.4.jar, commons-logging-1.1.1.jar, httpclient-4.1.1.jar, httpclient-cache-4.1.1.jar, httpmime-4.1.1.jar set to the classpath, but there seems to be a problem
I' m using Eclipse for develpoment and I hope someone knows what to do here...
Kind regards,
Chang

Hello EJP thanks for your answer.
I put the jar files in the Project Properties->Java Build Path dialog to the project like i did it many times before. Now i added httpcore-4.0.jar and httpcore-4.1.jar to the classpath, but no difference the error is still the same. I don't know which jar files get used at runtime.
Alternatively i put the jar files in a lib folder under the WEB-INF folder, but the error leaves the same.
Can you please explain me the solution a little more detailed.
Kind regards,
Chang

Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError using beans and JSP
Hi,
I get a
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: Unit.UnitBean.execSQL(Ljava/lang/String; Ljava/sql/ResultSet;
when i try to call that method from my jsp page. I can call all other methods in teh bean but I can't understand why it can't find execSQL when it finds every thing else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
Heres a copy of my java bean code:
package Unit;
import java.sql.*;
import java.io.*;
public class UnitBean
Connection con;
String error;
public boolean connect() throws ClassNotFoundException,SQLException
String StudentNumber = "xxx";
String strHost = "xxxx";
String strConnectURL = ("jdbc:postgresql://" + strHost + "/");
String strUser = "xxxx";
String strPassword = "xxxxx";
Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver");
con = DriverManager.getConnection(strConnectURL, strUser, strPassword);
return true;
public void disconnect() throws SQLException
con.close();
public ResultSet execSQL(String sql)throws SQLException
Statement s = con.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery(sql);
return rs;
public String test()
String Mike="HIHIHIHIHI";
return Mike;
}And the jsp code:
<%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html"%>
<%@ page import="java.sql.*" %>
<%@ page import="java.io.*" %>
<jsp:useBean id="Unit" class="Unit.UnitBean" scope="page"/>
<html>
<head>
<title>Test My Bean!!!!???!!?!</title>
</head>
<body>
<%
String SQL ="Select * from unit where unitid='CMPS2B26'";
ResultSet rs =null;
try
Unit.connect();
rs = Unit.execSQL(SQL);
while(rs.next())
out.println(rs.getString("unitid"));
Unit.disconnect();
catch(Exception e)
out.println("<p>Problem with jsp code" +e);
%>
This is a jsp page.
<p><a href = "http://stuweb3.cmp.uea.ac.uk/~xxxx/index.html">Click here for home page</a>
</body>
</html>Yeah, that worked great, thanks a lot. I thought that JSP compiled when you changed it and then visited it, but i've tried that. I just ran ant stop start on my server and it's all working.
Thanks again :)

Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getSocket using JavaMail inside JBoss
Hi,
i built a library to easily send emails with JavaMail, via SMTP. When i use my lib in a stand-alone java application, it works fine, but when i need to use it inside my web application, deployed on JBoss AS, i get the following error:
Servlet.service() for servlet action threw exception
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getSocket
at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.openServer(SMTPTransport.java:1250)
at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.protocolConnect(SMTPTransport.java:370)
at javax.mail.Service.connect(Service.java:233)
at it.compit.mail.helper.send.SMTPSender.send(SMTPSender.java:39) where it.compit.mail.helper.send.SMTPSender.send is the method i use to send email in my lib. SMTPSender.java at line 39 is
SMTPTransport tr = (SMTPTransport) session.getTransport("smtp"); I don't want to use SessionBean to send email from JBoss AS. I did not include mail.jar in server/default/lib dir because JBoss has got a built-in implementation of JavaMail. Using javamail debugging, i've noticed that javamail inside my JBoss is "JavaMail version 1.3.1", while i used version 1.4ea to build my lib.
So, any ideas to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance.
Elisa Distefano a.k.a EthaHi bshannon,
i looked for other javamail libs in my JBoss dir: found nothing but the only mail.jar located in server/default/lib/ (provided by default installation). I tried to specify the classpath into mail-service.xml without success.
I also noticed that when JBoss starts, logs print "DEBUG: JavaMail version 1.3.1 " while the MANIFEST.MF inside my mail.jar contains "Implementation-Version: 1.4".
My JBoss version is 4.0.4 GA. Any idea?!? -
Error java.lang.NoSuchMethodError while using Lexalytics
Hello,
I have a Linux 64bit environment with the complete Endeca Information Discovery 2.4 installed. When I try to use the Text Enrichment component I get the error:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
I have edited the .bash_profile file with the parameters that are needed to use Lexalytics:
lxainstall=/home/oracle/Oracle/Endeca/Lexalytics
export lxainstall
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$lxainstall/salience/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_45
export JAVA_HOME
JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.library.path=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
export JAVA_OPTS
PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH:$HOME/bin:$lxainstall
export PATH
Also when I try to export the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and reboot my system, my desktop doesn't load and I see no icons on my desktop. I can start programs with the top menu.
I have installed version 5.1 of Lexalytics.
Does anybody know why I get this error?
Thanks!
MarcoHi Marco, I had the same problem. Instead of loading LD_LIBRARY_PATH in .BASH_PROFILE I made a shell script that first load LD_LIBRARY_PATH and then start integrator. Now it is working fine for me.

Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError when try to use RDBMS WLI adapter sp2
Hi,
We have encountered a problem when trying to use the latest version of the WLI
RDBMS adapter downloaded from the website.
This adapter comes as an ear file of size 4026K.
Has anyone been able to get this version to work??
Was using the earlier version of size 3278K happily but found a few bugs in it
so wanted to use the later version but when we do, we can't call any Application
View services.
When we try to call a service we get the error:

You need to get Patch CR095687 in order to use this adapter with SP2, (and
stop this exception). It's mentioned in the release notes
(http://edocs.bea.com/wladapters/rdbms/docs70sp2/pdf/relnotes.pdf), a the
bottom of page 3. You need to contact BEA support for this patch.

Thanks in advance.I already install. The others application can run on this AS but it's develop on other version of Jdeveloper such as 10.1.3.1.
Actually, I used JAZN on my project but when I deploy on AS I got problem that user cannot log-in to the application (look like login is invalid but I already generate janzn-data.xml and orion-application.xml). I think the reason is AS will authen through OID. So, I remove JAZN from my project. After that when I deploy on AS, I got this error. -

Can anybody give me a clue?Vishal, thanks a lot for your reply. I used the App Server 2004Q4 beta and got the problem. When I switch to version 8.0.0_01 the things work well.
But now I'm trying to understand this example and creating my own simple web app using encryption feature. From the files in the example dicrectory I can figure out the security applied at client by examining client stub files generated by the wscompile in the asant gen-client task. But I wonder when security is added to the server side. Is it when we use wsdeploy with the model part specifiedin jaxrpc-ri.xml? What is the procedure to apply the security to the web service?
The last thing I want to ask is whether the deploytool bundled inside App Server can do the same things as ant task (eg. wsdeploy with some arguments). -

How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform
Solution
Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
Note: [OraHome] is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
[OraHome] with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
[JacobStage] is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
cd [JacobStage]
copy jacob.jar [OraHome]\forms\java\.
copy jacob.dll [OraHome]\forms\webutil\.
The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
Open a DOS command prompt.
Add [OraHome]\jdk\bin to the PATH:
set PATH=[OraHome]\jdk\bin;%PATH%
Sign the files, and check the output for success:
[OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
[OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\jacob.jar
4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
you may skip this step. Otherwise,
Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
Open [OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
errors.
Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
CONNECT webutil/[password]@[connectstring]
@[OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
-- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
grant execute on webutil_db to public;
5) Modify [OraHome]\forms\server\default.env, and append [OraHome]\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
to the CLASSPATH entry.
6) Start the OC4J instance
7) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in
Note 303682.1
If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
8) Create a new FMB.
Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
NULL;
to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
show_webutil_information (TRUE);
in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
9) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
the "Application Server URL" is empty.
Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
10) Run your form.
If its Correct/Helpful please mark it thanks.

Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:java/io/File:
hi all,
i have just a dbf file and no database server, can i still use the JDBC driver to make a connnection?
If yes, i put my dbf file in the Tomcat root directory and write con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:DBF://localhost:8080/","","");
but it always returns an error
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:java/io/File: method getCanonicalFile()Ljava/io/File ; not found
Anyone know what's wrong?
Below is the driver readme for the URL format:
URL format:
Direct Access:
jdbc:DBF:[/]/[DatabasePath]
For example: "jdbc:DBF:/." "jdbc:DBF:/../dbffiles"
Access by DBF Server: Skip it if you don't use RMI or JINI.
jdbc:DBF:[/][host][:port]/[DatabasePath]
Default host:localhost port:2129 DatabasePath:
For example: "jdbc:DBF://domain.com:3099/../dbffiles" if one DBFServer is run on the 3099 port of domain.com
*/We got a similar error the other day trying to grab the Meta-Data.
Once I took those lines out everything else worked fine. Ie our connection and loading code was fine.
It seems that not all methods are supported on all implementations of the jdbc/odbc drivers.
Our current issue has to do with having a lot of different databases, and not wanting to set up ODBC links to all of them (or wanting to find an easy way to do that). -

Regards,
SandeepHi Donal,
Thanks for your response. I found an archived version of JDeveloper v 9.0.4.1.1 ( Build 1436 ). However, AMA refuses to show up in this versiontoo.
I even tried to add AMA as an "External Tool" , by trying to invoke the class oracle.mtg.sqllocator.addin.SQLLocatorExtension that is listed in jdev-ext.xml. I even tried with oracle.mtg.sqllocator.addin.sqlnav.SqlNavigatorAddin, but it still doesn't work.
If I try to call one of the two classes directly, I get this error :-

Regards,
Sandeep -
We have Weblogic 8.1 SP2. The application has several entity beans. I just upgraded it from SP2 to SP3 and when I try to use these ejb's I am getting the following exception:
Root cause of ServletException.
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: weblogic.ejb20.internal.EntityEJBObject_Activatable.preInvoke(Lweblogic/ejb20/
internal/MethodDescriptor;Lweblogic/security/service/ContextHandler;)Lweblogic/ejb20/interfaces/InvocationWrapper;
Note that these ejb's worked fine in SP2.
Now, just to test, I redeployed some of these ejb's and then these redeployed ejb's worked fine.
My question is, is it required to redeploy all ejb's to upgrade from SP2 to SP3?
Thanks.redeploying the beans had the upgraded server recompile them which (probably), updated any internal references to methods. I don't quite understand one can run the beans that were compiled on SP2, on an upgraded SP3 server without having deployed (and therefore recompiled) them on the upgraded SP3 server.
