Java Licensing changing installation number

Hi all,
we have changed contract and moved a Netweaver Java installation into a new server. The license check fails since the hardaware is changed.
I have asked a new license key but it does not work since the system was installed in a different installation number.
Do you know if there is a way to install a new license with a different installation number ?
Thanks in advance.
Andrea

If you change the hardware, the hardware key changes and you need to apply for a new license. But in the meantime you can use a temp license. SAP note 174911 explains this.
The change in the installation number also implies a change of the license and possibly a migration key for the secure storage of the system, as described in note 816861.

    Hi
Seems Someway the data from SLD is not properly reaching the SMSY for the particular system Check the SLD data for the particular SID again.
    Does that fine, if yes
Goto Solman system ,remove all the system wrong entries from smsy
then goto ur satellite system use the tcode RZ70, and pick your sld address and scedule the job there
now come to smsy_setuo and enter the sld details after schedules the job LANDSCAPE_FETCH .

  • SLD: Duplicate Technical System after Installation Number change

We changed the installation number for a system. After this, inside SLD there are 2 entries for this system, with 2 different installation number (new and old). What is the correct procedure to remove   one of the entry (old one).
    Please advise.
A proper SAP note would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Its ok even if you have forgotten to register to the SLD during installation. We can regaister after installation.Since SLD runs on java engine then if you go to http://<ipaddress or hostname of the server>:5<instancenumber>00/sld
If you go into that you can click on administration button and follow the instructions as in the link.

Difference between technical systems and business systems is that business systems are used in PI/XI.Whereas technical systems are nothing but your ECC , CRM etc.You have to use business systems only when there is a case for connecting to XI/PI.Hope i have answered your quesries if not please let me know.

  • J2E License Key File With Changed System Number

    Hello,
During the last weeks, there had been some trouble according to the sneak preview licensing web site to get a new license key for special SAP systems like J2E, NSP etc.
In the meantime, I used especially for my J2E instance via visual admin the button "install subsequent temp license" with success.
Returning anew to the web site today, I saw that now we are able again to renew the license key for our trial systems and ordered successfully license keys for J2E and NSP instance.
Because both systems have got new system numbers, I deleted the expired license key for NSP via saplicense -delete. Then I installed regularly the given new license key with success.
After starting the J2E instance, I tried to delete the existing active license (see above) via installed licenses getting a message which let me stop my try to delete the license because I feared for to get trouble with the system afterwards.
The exact text of the warning trying to delete the existing active license sounds:
    DELETE J2EE-Engine_ADA License:
You are about to delete the license for the J2EE-Engine. This may lead to a shutdown of the running system. You will not be able to start the J2EE-Engine again without a valid license. Do you really want to proceed?
Trying to install the given license from file (via General), I got the informational message:
This system's system number is "xyz", but there is a license key for the system number "abc" in file path\J2E.txt. License key file path\J2E.txt doesn't contain any valid SAP license keys.
    License key(s) not completely installed.
    That was to be expected...
    So my questions are:
    1) What is to do when I want to implement the new given license key file which has another system number as the existing active one.
    2) How often can I use the possibility to prolong my active license via button "Install subsequent temp. license" in future without falling in trouble?
    Thank you for your answers.
    Regards
    Christian

Before deleting the J2EE engine license, check the "Installed Licenses" tab and verify that there is another J2EE-engine license with Validity "Valid" and within a satisfactory date range.  Only under this situation will I feel comfortable with removing the additional/expired licenses.
Your original message is a bit confusing ... let me see if I got it correctly.  You have been running your J2EE instance with temp licenses, because there was some issues w/ preview licensing on SAP's web site.  Now that you have finally received your preview license, you wish to install it.
But since then, your system number has changed.  Do you mean system ID?  Since your example used a 3 character ('xyz' vs 'abc').  I think the SID is what you mean.  Because changing system number will not require a new license, but changing the SID will.
So now you have the following.
    1. J2EE running on temp license with SID 'xyz'
    2. A new preview license for SID 'abc'
What you need to do is:
    1. Request from SAP preview license for the SID that matches your system 'xyz'.  OR, change the SID of your system from 'xyz' to 'abc', which is not recommended ...especially w/ AS-JAVA.
    2. Install the new preview licenses.
    3. Verify preview licenses are valid.
    4. I don't believe you have to remove the temp licenses, it's overwritten when you install the permanent preview licenses.

  • JIVE/Java licensing question

Good morning, we are developing a research project named JIVE (http://jive.dia.unisa.it) for the visualization of Java-coded algorithms. One of the goal of JIVE is to provide a graphical interactive representation for standard Java data structures such as Hashtable and Vector. In order to perform such a task we needed to make some changes on the original implementation of these classes (e.g., let the Hashtable object take as input the hashing function). Since we are going to distribute JIVE over the Internet we would like to know if it possible to redistribute the source code or, at least, the binary code of our modified Java classes and which license file must be enclosed. We already tried to contact the SUN licensing service ([email protected]) without obtaining any response.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are hitting a bug 11672797 (more detail: http://java.net/jira/browse/ADFEMG-83).
As a workaround you have to change the data type to oracle.jbo.domain.Number in your EO or VO if they VO is not based on a EO.

  • Is it possible to change serial number in FCP?

I have two licenses of FCP. Just installed on a new Mac Pro, and I installed with the wrong serial number (which results in protection error when both FCP programs are open). Is it possible to change serial number without reinstalling (takes hours..)?

Further to my above comment Tom, I have done a quick test.
Removing the FCS System ID had no apparent effect on launching FCP.
Removing the ProAppsSystemID brought up the serial number etc. window.
Any idea why I have got 2 of these things?
Anything to do with having FCE installed as well?

  • Fetching Supply Scenario based on Installation number ?

    Hi All,
I have got an installation number. Can anyone give me the table names from which i can get the installation's supply scenario ?
    Thanks,
    Hrushikesh

    Hi Hrushikesh,
You are talking about the Supply Scenario field in the ES32 transaction. There are following scenarios
001 -Grid Usage for Points of Delivery Supplied By Third Party
002 -Supply for Point of Delivery in External Grid (Tranmission)
003 -Supply for Point of Delivery in Own Grid (Fully Supply)
Usually we choose to keep this field as blank as it keeps on changing with each contract.
It usually tells whether the installation is currently associated with the Retailer or Distributor. You can find that through Service Provider and Invoice Service provider at contract, that in which scenario installation is. But you can choose to keep this field blank also.

  • ICI CCM Extractor - allocation of SolMan installation Number

    Hi experts
When configuring the iCI extractors via the measurement platform setup, the installation number for the local solman is being picked rather than the installation number for the managed system.
This results in the extractor failing with a ''No Custom Code Objects found in XXX for CCLM' (where XXX is the managed system where the data should be gathered from).
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to change the installation number once the extractor has been created?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi Alexander
    Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes the AGS_CC* tables are filled and I get results when running the extractor FM manually via SE37 and putting the correct installation number and client in the import parameters.
So, is it usual to edit the  E2E_ACTIVE_WLI table manually? I have done this as requested but just wondered if this was a routine operation when the numbers are incorrect?
Also, how can I manually trigger a new run as currently the next run is not until tomorrow morning.
    Thanks

  • The registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime environment installation

I was having trouble running some Java programs (not my own) in Windows XP, and in the process I uninstalled and installed JRE versions 6, 7, and 8, one at a time, probably in the order 7, 8, 7, 6, 7. The program that had the original problem only worked in V6, but some other programs stopped working. I went back to V7, and those other programs still didn't work. The message was "the registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime environment installation". The only advice I could find with Web searches was to reinstall the JRE. Needless to say, that didn't work.
So I looked at the registry, and I found that there were still references to V8, which had been uninstalled. The first was
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jarfile\shell\open\command - (Default) = "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_31\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*
The folder re1.8.0_31 doesn't exist, so I changed it to jre7. That didn't work.
    Then I found
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment - CurrentVersion = 1.8
I changed this to 1.7, and deleted some following entries such as
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.8 - JavaHome = C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_31
    retaining entries such as
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.7 - JavaHome = C:\Program Files\Java\jre7
    That worked!
So, there is a bug in the installer(s): if you uninstall V8 and install V7, the 'CurrentVersion' isn't set correctly, with the result that the registry points to a non-existent folder. The V8 uninstallation should delete these entries, or the V7 installation should change them.
Question: Where do I report this bug? Or, better still, would someone report if for me? :-)

    Hello,
Here's a direct link to the place to report bugs: http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/index.jsp
I would recommend that maybe you see if it hasn't been reported already before submitting it.
    Hope it goes!

    Hi Stefan,
This is one solution that i came across in an alternate thread,
"Not sure if this will help but..
All of my issues resolved around the Java engine (HEAP) not being able to reserve enough memory. Also, I found some of the default parameters in the config tool to be slightly incorrect.
So, I patched to the Java version C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08..I assume you have edited the profile parameter to include

qprocess sapservice<SID> (look for the IGS processes)

Then, the failure at the Java startup time. Numerous error messages like cj2-20057, or server0 would not start etc. I tried numerous attempts, eventually identifing that the Java parameters were not correct.
    So...
    Run the configtool.bat

  • Windows 2008 R2 OEM to Volume License change after p2v.

Did online search and even called Microsoft licensing, got very confusing and different answers. So posting here.
P2V'd a HP server running 2008 R2 Standard (64 Bit) , everything went smooth, after 2 weeks server is giving "Build 7601, the copy of windows is not genuine. The Product ID reads : 00XXX-OEM-8XXXXXX-1XXXXX
Our company does have volume license keys and my understanding is that we need to give one to this server. Can I just change product key and activate using new volume licensing key ?  or do you I need to do a repair- as I read in most cases with win2003.
    Called MS:
1st Support Agent : Go ahead, change product key, reboot and give us a call to reactivate.
I asked for another confirmation and was transferred to tech support
Tech Support: Give us your name, number etc., we need to open a ticket, charge $259 or let me transfer you to volume licensing.
2nd Support Agent: We recommend a clean install for any volume licensing changes. Kept repeating it x 10.
me: This is a production server, I cannot do that, its too late, sorry.
he: Ok, then  go ahead and try to change the key and see if it works.
me: would it break anything or any risk
he: Not sure, as we recommend a clean install is recommended for any Volume License.!
Please advise if anyone has come across upgrading OEM to Volume after p2v. thanks

    Hi Karma,
For the license issue after P2V, the thread may be helpful for you:
    Licensing OEM servers after P2V
In addition, if you have further concerns about licensing, I still recommended to contact
Microsoft Licensing specialist for better assistance.
    Best Regards,
    Anna Wang
Thanks for your suggestions. But the threads are too long to read for a simple problem with a simple solutions.
Here is the solution for anyone looking, Please check you license key sticker and there should a Virtual Key just below the OEM , use that key after migration. and you are GOLD!
Unfortunately, two of the Microsoft Licensing Specialist I spoke to, had no clue about this.

That is SAP client as : 300

The problem is not accepting by ddic passowrd and throwing an error by saying the password which you have provided is wrong. But i can able to log in sap level by using the same password in the same client.
Why is not accepting the password? Eventhough the password is right and also i can able to login in sap level.
I am sure about i didnt do silly mistakes like caps lock or mistyoing or key board issues. And also I have tried the standard passwords like 19920706,minisap and the master passwords.
After the third attempt in installation,m the user is get locked. I will unlock and will try again. Even I tried to change the password in sap level and its not working in the installation.

    Hi colleagues,
I have install de SLD in the Portal 2004S. I connect to the http://server:50000/sld.
When try configure my System Landscape, in the Installation Number I have a error.
The error is  "Installation number must have exaclty 10 digits, or the value INITIAL".
In the transaction SLICENSE the numeber is the same.
    Regards Victor.

    Hi,
    well....
Out installation numbers all beginn with zeros...
Why don't you connect your systems to the SLD with the wizards from inside the systems? In ABAP call TX SM70 and in JAVA use Visual Admin and goto server >> SLD Provider.. This will insert all necessary data automatically.
