Java picture viewer only view 20 ++ then blank, why?
hi all:
I have a java picture viewer that views dicom, jpeg and gif files, the thing is that it only view up to certain amount of picture (around 20) then it shows nothing but a blank frame.
when the viewer open images close to 20, the frame keeps "refreshing" then the picture will show after a while (I don't know how long), when over certain amount of pictures opened, blank frame is all I got.
I thought of garbage collection, but I think garbage collection in java is automatic and nobody can do anything about it. I also thought of frame dispose(), I'm not sure if it's correct or how to kill a frame and regain the resources.
any help or suggestion would greatly appreciated.
It does...I actually tried to uninstall and reinstall and get the same thing
Its almost like the program thinks that my screen is larger than it is.
I have screen on 15"MBP at max resolution and all other applications work fine as does aperture except for I cant use the viewer function

When I login to Horizon View, it shows me the list of desktops to connect to. If I'm entitled to only one desktop then can View auto connect me to that desktop instead of me clicking on Connect.
Yes you certainly can.
Right click any desktop in the list > Settings > in the left pane select the desktop you want to auto connect to > check "Auto connect to this desktop". -
I-photo: I used 2 cameras to take pictures on a trip --- i have put the pictures from both cameras into an album --- when i click on view and then sort by date, the pictures do not sort by date --- any ideas on how to get the pics sorted by date?
Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013"). -
has anybody had the following issue: opening the ical app on the phone, if it is in 'List' view, then the screen will be blank. if you switch to Day or Month view and then back to List again, then the entries display normally. i didnt have this issue on my old 3G, so im surprised to be having it on iphone4, since it doesnt sound like a hardware issue, and i set up the 4 from my backup of the 3G.

Enter the " character in the iCal Search field which is located in the upper right hand corner of the iCal window. When you do that you will be presented with a results pane in the bottom of the iCal window. The results pane will have four columns at the top (Calendar/Date/Type/Title). Click on the "Calendar" column to see the results organized by specific calendars.
Alternately, you can (⌘ + click) on any calendar in the "CALENDARS" source pane to deselect all calendars, then the calendar that you want to display, and enter the " character in the search field. That will display only the entries associated with that particular calendar.

Images too bright in PSE, good in Windows Picture Viewer.
Hi:
My question is this, I shot some pictures of my son last weekend, in studio,
with a Nikon D2X camera, and a softbox lightbank mounted on a Balcar
flash head. I set the camera to RAW-JPEG Fine, ISO 100, and used a
Minolta flashmeter to measure the light from the strobe. The reading was
f/8 and 2/3. The images look good in the LCD camera display, but when
I see them in my PC display, they look way too bright in Photoshop Elements 7.0,
but they look fine in the Windows XP SP3 Picture Viewer.
Why is this?. If I adjust the contrast and brightness in PSE, then they look too dark
when I check them in Windows Picture Viewer...
Also, the highlights look a little burned out in both, PSE and Windows Picture Viewer,
but the problem looks more evident in PSE. This happens often when I shoot pictures
using strobe lights.
Can you help me with this two problems?.

Thanks.As to why the photo looks different in PSE than in Windows Picture And Fax Viewer, there are two possibilities:
1. Your display may have a color profile associated with it, either because you calibrated it with a calibrator or a profile was installed by the disk that came with your display. PSE is "color managed" and will adjust the colors of a photo based on the display's color profile, whereas Windows Picture And Fax Viewer will not. If you want fine control over accurate display of colors on your display, you'll need to calibrate it if you haven't already, and you should then only use color-managed programs like PSE to view your photos.
2. The photo you posted indicates that you've set your camera to use the Adobe RGB color space for JPEGs. The Organizer has a bug and doesn't display the thumbnails (even large thumbnails) of such photos correctly. The Organizer's Display > Full Screen (F11) and the Editor do display such photos correctly. I'm not sure if this particular photo will trigger the bug, because of the way Nikon in particular stores color profiles in JPEGs. You could see if you're getting hit by this bug by:
a. Open the photo in the Editor.
b. In the Organizer, make the photo's thumbnail as large as possible (not Full Screen view).
c. Adjust the zoom of the photo in th Editor to be about as large as the one in the Organizer.
d. Use Ctrl Tab to switch quickly between the two. If you see differences, you're encountering the bug. -
Java Plugin Viewer with Crystal Reports 2008

I am trying to use the Java Plugin Viewer with Crystal Reports, but I have some problems. The ActiveX Viewer works well, but as I want to use the reports in other browsers, I need the Java viewer.
I have a Visual Basic 6 application, and, instead of including SmartViewerActiveX.asp, I have included JavaPluginViewer.asp. I have taken this file from an older version of Crystal, and I am changing the values on it (I have done the same with the ActiveX Viewer, without problems). This is the main code of the file:

I know how to change all the values of this object so it works with Crystal2008 except one: the codebase.
I have gone to IIS, and under the virtual folder "crystalreportviewers12" I don't see any JavaPlugin folder, there's only the JavaViewer folder, and there isn't any .exe inside...
So, where can I find the .exe for the codebase?
I have tried searching the web for a tutorial or something, but I haven't seen anything for Crystal 2008.
Can anyone help me?

Incompatibility between JDK 1.4 and Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer
I have noticed an incompatibility between JPG files that are output from Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer and read in by JDK 1.4 (or 1.4.1). In particular, when an image is transfered from a digital camera to a Windows XP machine, then rotated and saved in the Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer, the resulting image file appears with corrupted colors when read and saved by the ImageIO class in JDK 1.4.
Here is my code:

I have also output the file with graphics format PNG and seen similar apparent corruption of colors.

It appears fine (brilliant tropical colors).
Note that both images contain the "EXIF" header, which is the JPEG-like format used by many digital cameras. Some may say that the JDK 1.4 spec does not support EXIF, but the image not touched by Windows XP was read successfully. And other image editing programs read in both successfully, such as PaintshopPro and the Mozilla 1.0 web browser. But there is a specific incompatibility with JDK 1.4.
I have reproduced this problem on Windows NT 4 and Red Hat Linux 7.3 using an image file that was saved on Windows XP.

Does anybody know a workaround?This is scary and explains why some of my Exif headers are trashed.
I would guess the problem has something to do with XP not writing the file back out 100% true to the JPEG spec.
Really annoying that they do this. They think they can just hack up and change standards that are not their own. Take their FTP client in Windows XP. Talk about a broken client.
My suggestion is to dis-associate jpegs with XP's image and fax viewer. Instead associate them with Mozilla. -
Did apple do away with Picture Viewer?
I just updated the latest QuickTime - and Picture Viewer is gone. So, I deleted QuickTime and downloaded it as new - thinking that would help (I thought maybe something went wrong with the update).
Nope - still no Picture Viewer.
This is very disappointing as the QuickTime Picture Viewer was FAR superior than what comes on my PC.
Am I the only one with this problem? And, if I am, what can I do to correct it?QuickTime for Java and QuickTime PictureViewer are no longer installed by default. They are removed if you have a previous version of QuickTime on your PC. If you still need these legacy features, you can add them back using the new custom setup option in the installer.

Parallax Scrolling from top view (bird view)/ resizing and blank spots

I was thinking this was going to be easy but some problems occurred
Currently Im trying to make a parallax scrolling road while seeing it from above, but there are some issues going on.
the 1st one is that somehow after the second image is gone out of the stage , there are a few blan pixels that are not filled .... and it seems that the speed of the moving is == to the pixels that aren't filled up.
And i think , just asume that if i test this on like different screen sizes - lets say this is for a phone - ill get some issues with the scaleX and Y and it will get quite ugly and cubic.
I did surch for an example or a tutorial but there are only in a X direction like if you see the car from a side view like this

Is there any way to get rid of the goofy picture viewer that comes up when you click on a photo in your picture page? I just want the slide show option.
You can. Create a shape that's has some color background (I used black), no border, no stroke or shadow and with an opacity of 2%. Place it over the photos in the photo page and make sure it's on top. You may have to do a Publish All to .Mac to get everything to get changed properly. Then the only option you'll have is to click on the slideshow button. Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

Photos look different in Photoshop than when viewed with Picture Viewer
I am running Windows XP, using Photoshop CS2, with a Samsung SyncMaster LCD monitor. I have recently noticed that my picures look different when viewing with Picture Viewer than when the same picture is opened in Photoshop. The photoshop version is much lighter while the pic viewer version is darker. I want to make sure of what I'm sending to my online printers. Do I have color setting wrong? My color setting in Photoshop are: sRGB IEC61966-2.1, U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2, Dot Gain 20%, and Dot Gain 20%. And preserved embedded profiles for RGB, CMYK, and Gray. Is the problem with calibrating my monitor, and if so, do you know of any free calibration software? I'm on a budget.

Thanks.Well, it surely is a problem with your monitor settings, but, forgive me for saying this, mentioning "sending stuff to the printers" and then asking for free calibration software is a bit naive. If Adobe Gamma, the settings in PS itself and the color calibration in Windows don't cut it, then your system is seriously bent in terms of color and some other steps are required first.
a) reset your monitor to its default color temperature and brightness
b) get rid of any color tweaking your graphics card may introduce
With a clean slate, create a color reference image (pure colors, grayscale gradient) with all color calibration turned off and see how it looks at the system level and in PS. Now you can begin to adjust settings everywhere and re-enable color profiles until the results match in sRGB space.
The rest is pretty much unpredictable. Unless you gain access to the exact color profiles of the target device (the printer) and your monitor is properly hardware calibrated, there will always be minute variations. The only thing you can do is to solely rely on your visually aligned sRGB setup and have all color profile adjustments and color space conversions done at your printer. However, even that's assuming you do not wander too far off the default values and the sRGB is indeed "intact".

I got a larger monitor and flat screen (19 inch). Since changing I am not getting a full screen view of home page. I changed the page options to compact view and then back, but no change. I've got about 2 inches of white on each side of the home page view.
When going to a website the picture was small - tried changing the Zoom size , tried Zoom Reset - the text did change size but the layout distorts - found under View - Zoom - Zoom Text Only was checked --- Removed this check mark and the website returned to normal size and Zoom worked normally again. I am 99.9999% sure I did NOT check this myself and there is no one else on the computer to cause it. Maybe this will help.

I recently updated iTunes, and it appears Picture Viewer has been installed on my PC. Needless to say, I am not happy. I cannot remove it via Programs and Features, and I did not agree for it to be installed. I'd like this useless 'Picture Viewer' removed, pronto. Does anyone know how?

However, Windows 7 comes with such utilities, so QuickTime and Picture Viewer are therefore redundant, unnecessary software on my machine, save for the fact that I am forced to use iTunes so my iPhone and iPod will function. I am also a photographer, so I use much more advanced software to view and edit images.
Following my most recent iTunes (and QuickTime) update, Picture Viewer showed up in my Start menu as a new program. If it wasn't there before, why would I need it now? I am not currently at my PC to check any help files, but the usual, foolproof method of uninstalling a program in Windows 7 (via Programs and Features) does not work for Picture Viewer. It is not listed as a program or feature and therefore cannot be removed. After some research, I have found that the only way to remove Picture Viewer is to completely uninstall iTunes and QuickTime, then reinstall iTunes. -

Here is the problem I've been having, I installed Quicktime, everything worked fine and I have Quicktime Picture Viewer as my default viewer (I miss my mac). I was able to use it for some time, then when it starts to open the window which asks me to upgrade to Quicktime pro it crashes. I've tried reinstalls and updates but to no avail. Then I reformatted my Hard Drive, and the same issue is happening. Any ideas?Thanks, this got me to the answer. Specifically, checking for full permissions under my user name.
I am not sure if it was changing the permissions for QuickTime.qts, that did the trick, Because at the same time I also right-clicked on PictureViewer.exe, went to Properties and along with changing the permissions under the Security tab, I went to the Compatability tab and under Priviledge Level, I clicked on "Run this program as an administrator". The only downside is I now get that annoying pop-up whenever I open the program saying "do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer", but that is a minor inconvenience.
