Java Plug-in and Java Web Start Will Not Start In JDK 1.4.2_03
I can't get the Java Plug-in or Java Web Start to start in JDK 1.4.2_03, but they did work when I first installed the JDK months ago. When I double-click either icon an hourglass displays for a second and then disappears without opening the window. I don't even get an error message.
I've tried reinstalling the JDK three times. On the last reinstall, I followed some instructions on how to completely remove the JDK. Here's the URL of the instructions I followed:

Once u have got the Certificate from the Verisign there will be 3 chains in that cert(what i think)......Get the other 2 certificates from U r cert(like intermediate and Root)....and install them in the trust and Intermediate folder...
other option is u generate the CSR keeping Sys Date 1 month ahead..( i tried like this only..it worked)

Web sharing will not start OS X Lion

I am new to all this so I have probably made some simple errors and I hope someone can help me. I will retell what I have done as I haven't a clue what part of what I have done has mucked things up.
I am really stuck. Web sharing will not start on my iMac running Lion OS X. It did work fine and then I wanted to activate PHP so my test website contact form would work (and send the data on the form throught to my email address.
Before I did anything I turned on websharing and could view my website from another computer using: http://192.168.1.4/~stewartfergusson/
I think followed the instructions on this link to activate PHP - http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/php_leopard.php
I then did a few things in terminal and will paste below what I did:

An important point to note is that I now appear to have more than one http.config file and they are located in the following locations:
1) Macintosh HD/etc/apache2/httpd.conf.default
2) Macintosh HD/etc/apache2/httpd.conf.default.default
3) Macintosh HD/etc/apache2/original/httpd.conf
I edited this file (which one I have not got a clue) and also the php.ini file within Macintosh HD/etc/ using Terminal - the command I used was sudo cp php.ini.default php.ini
This php.ini file now exists in two locations now as well:
1) Macintosh HD/etc/php.ini
2) Macintosh HD/etc/php.ini.default
I then edited this file by changing the line of code below from:
514 error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE (I think it said E_DEPRECATED actually) but I am lifting this from the web page in the link above)
To:
514 error_reporting = E_ALL
I then saved this file.
I then deactivated web sharing in System Preferences and since then have not been able to restart Web Sharing. I click it and it flashes orange for a second then does not start.
This was all done to activate PHP on my iMac so I can host my own site which has a PHP contact form page.
Please help I am so out of my depth I am very worried I may have changed things and I am going to forget what I did.
If you need to know anything then please ask.

i tried to start it up at work on my laptop and i got a message that said anther computer on the network was using the same name. since then the personal web sharing can be clicked on but, never starts up.
anyone have any ideas how i can fix this? i am trying to learn PHP and i need to have it working so i can sync up with apache.Try changing your computer's name. To do so go to the Sharing preference pane and change the computer's name to something else. Try restarting web sharing after this...

The solution to your problem is most likely contained within your question.
You'll need to locate the machine on your network that has the same name as yours and change its name... or you'll need to rename your computer to something else. -

After removing system fonts and reinstalling fonts, FireFox will not start! When I start FireFox the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" opens as if FF just crashed??? I don't see any records in event viewer. I am using FF v3.6.3 on a Windows 7 box. I tried uninstalling 3.6.3 and installing 3.0.18 and had the same problem!

There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.

I tried installing ColdFusion 9 and linking apache to the install. Because the Apache binary was 64bit I had to convert it to 32bit to for the ColdFusion install to work. I backed up the 64bit version and made the new 32bit version my httpd file.
After installing coldfusion finished I went to update some sites in Server Admin. When I tried to save changes in sites (removing a site) the list of sites went blank, clicked on settings, then back to sites, and the changes were not saved.
I restarted the entire server. When I came back to Server Admin and tried to "Start Web" i received the following error:
Try to refresh the view (waterengine.local/Web). (Could not start web service - details in error log.) 100002
I've already replaced the httpd file back to the original 64bit version and will now uninstall coldfusion. Is there a way to reinstall the web services? Seems like the most likely resolution.Had to reinstall the server OS because I couldn't find anywhere to do a reinstall of only the Web Service/Apache. I've downloaded the ColdFusion 9 64bit version. hopefully this works or I'll reinstall the OS one more time and give up on running ColdFusion 9 on this system until I can find someone who has done a successful install. This time I'll backup so I don't have to do a 45 minute remote re-install, although I thought that was pretty fast over wifi.

Web server will not start due to RSA Securid errors
We have an iPlanet 4.1 Service Pack 14 web server that was running fine until last friday. When we go to start the server we get the following error:

This website uses RSA Securid for authentication. We have contacted RSA and they think it is a webserver problem. Any insight anyone can provide would be great. Thanks!The error message is generated by the RSA plugin, not Web Server. RSA should be able to help diagnose the problem further.

Just tried to upgrade to SnowLeopard with newly purchased software disc. iLife failed to download and when I tried to restart the computer, it will not do so--just get a grey screen with the lines going around and around. Any ideas about how to get it to start?

This is a brand new machine that I just purchased from Apple. It was delivered yesterday
The old computer is an old PowerMac G5, but my OS X install disc is a retail version of 10.5.
I also tried the OS X 10.5 install disc that came with my MacBook Pro (2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Dual).
Same issue - nothing but a grey screen when the system tries to boot from the DVD -

Since it's telling you line 37, and it also says 'Redirect to non-URL' I'm guessing that line includes a redirect statement that isn't valid. -
Downloaded i os 7.0.4 for my ipad 3 and now my ipad will not start.
It only shows an itunes symbol and charger symbol. The screen switches from the "apple" icon to a black screen. Please Help. It was working perfect until the download. So far, none of the work arounds I've found are helpful. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how was it resolved? I should have never downloaded the latest update. My ipad was working perfectly fine - I've not had any issues up until now and it's over year old. Any advice anyone?

Apache will not start if ssl is enabled

I recently upgraded from LMS 3.1 to LMS 3.2. One of our end users pointed out that I forgot to enable https in the Common Services -> Server -> Security area.
I re-enabled https and now the 'Ciscoworks Web Server' will not start up.
If I disable https using ConfigSSL.pl from <NMS root>/MDC/Apache/bin then Ciscoworks comes up fine again.
The log file in <NMS root>/MDC/Apache/logs/error.log shows the message:
Failed to configure CA certificate chain!
I have deleted and regenerated the self-signed certificate several times and this pattern repeats.
I am running LMS on Windows Server 2003 R2.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was able to force Apache to start using the Service control panel.
However, when I spawned a browser the error message is:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cwhp/LiaisonServlet on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Don't know what this means either. Again, if I turn https off, everything comes up fine.

Please help. I am trying to learn server side scripting and managed to load duplicate upon duplicate of MySQL so I have re installed my system 10.4.10 and now the web sharing will not start. Could someone please tell me how to check that Apache is in place. I can't seem to locate any folder at all. I am running a Mac Pro quad. Thanks
First, you are posting in the Mac OS X Server area whereas I believe your query refers to Mac OS X. If this is the case then you will get a better response by posting to the correct group (you may even find the answer by searching that Discussion group).
I would first check that permissions are correct and that the Sites folder exists within your home folder. Also check for the existence of \Library\WebServer and two folders within 'CGI-Executables' and 'Documents' - this is also true of the Server version of OS X.
If you're using Mac OS X Server (you would be using Server Admin to start the Web service), check the log files. On both flavours of the system, you will find them in /var/log/httpd/ and will be names access_log and error_log. If you're not using Mac OS X Server, try using Console within your Utilities folder and browse to the sub folder from the log file list. -
Premiere elements 12 will not start.
Premiere elements is installed and registered . It will not start from the shortcut or from the exe file name.

Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
