Java plugin won't work in Chrome

Java won't work in Chrome. I have OSX 10.7 on my Macbook Pro, and when I try to update Java, a popup alert is served that the update is only going to work for OSX 10.6. It would be really, really helpful to be able to use Java in my browsers. Any insight as to how I can get it to do that?

Do you have Java enabled in Safari:

  • Java Plugin won't work in Netscape 7.1

I'm using Windows XP Home with Netscape 7.1, and the Java plugin won't work.
    Java Plug-in 1.4.2_05 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) is listed 7 times in Help>About:Plugins;
The Java Plugin works in Internet Explorer (I use the Test Java Virtual Machine to determine this). With Netscape, I just get the "Click here to get the plugin" window, and believe me, I've clicked here many times, and gone through the installation process, and it still doesn't work. I've uninstalled Java, rebooted, and installed it with the browsers closed, and it still doesn't work. Everything else in Netscape seems to be working properly.
Under Edit>Preferences>Advanced in Netscape I have "Enable Java" checked.
I posted this problem in the Windows-BBS Netscape and Mozilla forum, http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33994, and tried everything suggested there, but it still didn't work.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

I was facing a similar problem. I think the problem is with different versions of JRE. For example, I was trying to associate with Netscape the JRE version of 1.4.2_01 without any success. But on associating jdk version 1.4.2_05, it started working fine.

  • Java applications won't work

On my iMac, Java applications won't work.  I tried opening minecraft, and several other Java applications.  All of them have a message that pops up saying, "Not compatible version of Java 1.5+ is available."  I tried updating it but their is no update for Java it says on my updater.  Running 10.6.8

    Dakota97 wrote:
I tried openning it but it said it couldn't open because it requires java to run it.
I don't understand that becuase 10.6.8 should already have Java installed.  It optional in 10.7.x.  It will be interesting to see if the java update even works under these conditions.

  • Flash is up-to-date, but Plugin won't work

    Hi!
I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 8, (also up-to-date), and Flash plug-in won't work. I re-downloaded & installed Adobe Flash 13.0.0.214...I verified it on their website, but I can't get the plugin to work. I had no problem with it earlier today, but for some reason it won't work anymore.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you,
    Nuts4Mutts :(

    Hi!
Yes, I checked on Adobe's site THREE TIMES & I have the latest version, & the animations they have on their site worked fine...I saw them perfectly, (both the red cube bouncing around & the cartoon tree with the animated yellow & orange colored leaves). I'm at a loss why on most sites I have no problem watching streaming video, but on 2 of the other sites that I watch EVERY day, I suddenly get the "Error loading plugin" message on a black screen. It's driving me nuts, as I was watching these sites earlier this morning & everything was fine. The confusing part, to me at least, is why is this plug-in problem is ONLY affecting 2 of the sites I watch AND why did it happen out of the blue...I was watching them without any problem early this morning, just like I do ALL DAY...EVERY DAY!!! (I watch several wildlife live-cams, so it's important that I keep up with changes in the birds I normally watch). None of the other sites I watch are affected...what would cause this to happen?
I even did a complete shut-down of my laptop, waited, then re-started. Usually, this would fix just about anything...for some reason, I can't get the video stream on 2 cams...I can still view the other cams I watch, though.
I DID install MS's weekly updates, but it didn't affect my ability to see streaming video on most of the sites I watch; so far only on 2 of them.
I only have the pop-up blocker that comes with Firefox, but other than that there's nothing else in my add-ons that could interfere. I checked my plugins several times, just to make sure Flash was up-to-date & they're fine, too. The mystery is why I can see my wildlife cams on 4 of the sites I watch but not on the other 2, especially when I was watching them early this morning!!! I feel like I've been dropped-off in some sort of cyber-space time warp, or in the twilight zone & I'm ready to scream!
If there are any other suggestions, please post them...I'm very behind in my cam-watching!
On another Firefox-related problem...where do I post a question about some add-ons not working or being visible AND not being able to customize since the last update? I know...I'm just having a very confusing, frustrating day!
Thanks again for your ideas...I need all the help I can get!

  • I am using oracle Apps ERP in firefox wherein there is a Java Plugin , This is working fine in 3.5 version but as soon as i am upgrading to the latest version oracle is not working and firefox crashes. I can't upgrade even though i wish to

We are using Oracle ERP in our company which is a web based ERP system. I am using firefox to work in ERP for convinieince pf working and using internet at the same time. This requires a plugin provided by oracle oajinit.exe to be installed in Plugins it is a JAVA plugin which opens the ERP Screens. This works fine in versions prior to 3.6 version of firefox. However, after upgrading to 3.6 version the forms do not open and firefox crashes. Due to this i am not able to upgrade to the latest version else i'll have to operate the ERP in internet explorer and using firefox for browsing which i do not want. The plugin used for the ERP is "* JInitiator 1.3.1.18 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"

Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

  • Java plugin is not working properly

I have FF 16.0.1 and Java plugin 7 u 9, this is not the java with security problems...
    http://web.psjaisd.us/auston.cron/ABCronPortal/GeoGebraMenu/Investigating%20Parent%20FunctionsUsing%20GeoGebraGeoGebra%20is%20graphing.htm
loads very slowly or not at all, including the majority of the links on the page...this is a menu to multiple Java applets in GeoGebra. This page has a preload link which causes a problem. All links are java applets which until your security issues on Java were implements worked flawlessly and better than any other browser service...
You are forcing me to us IE, which I despise!
I cannot copy from crashing page...

So, you are having problems with Java 7 update 9 in Firefox? You said "until your security issues on Java were implements worked flawlessly and better than any other browser service..." I don't know what you mean. Java security updates are from java.com (Oracle) not Mozilla.
In case it helps, I downgraded from Java 7 to Java 6 awhile back for security reasons and I'm now running [http://java.com/en/download/manual_v6.jsp Java 6 Update 37], which is the latest Java 6 and has all current security patches. (I'll eventually switch back to Java 7 once Java 6 is no longer supported). Except for a few of the links loading slowly, I don't see any issues on the page you mentioned. Hopefully someone with Java 7 u9 will be along and test the links but you could try uninstalling Java 7 and installing Java 6. More on Java here:
*[[Use the Java plugin to view interactive content on websites]]
You also said, "I cannot copy from crashing page". Is Firefox crashing? Do you have any recent crash reports?
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
#Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the [[Firefox crashes]] article.
Also, Firefox 16.0 is not the current version and is insecure. See http://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Unless you have reasons for using an older version despite the vulnerabilities, you should [[update Firefox to the latest version]], currently 17.0.1.

  • Ack!  AU plugins won't work on Intel Macs!

I know this is already known, but does anyone know what to do about the fact that all our old AUs won't work on Intel Macs? I just got a new mini and wanted to use the good old C3 compressor and it wasn't there, even though I had installed it in the usual place.
I'm not even gonna bother trying to add Guitar Rig 2 until I hear that it works.
Any news on new ports of C3? Or any new Intel-compatible AUs?

    Hi chris,
You need to check all the sites where you got your plugins to see if they are Intel ready (most should be in the next couple of months).
Check out this thread for a bunch of free plugs too (some of wich are Intel Compatible). Thanks go to Warrior Ant for the VAST majority of these posts.

  • RealPlayer Safari plugin won't work on Intel core duo iMac 20"

Real Player Safari plug in won't work on Intel coreduo iMac 20" to either listen to audi or to play video and I don't know whether it is a Safari issue, Rosetta issue, RealPlayer issue or all of the above. I am also concerned about asking Safari to run under Rosetta becasue this seems to defeat the point of getting the latest machine. Does anyone know what the problem is and the likely timescales for a fix? Thanks. John
PS. I am able to access the resources I want using stand alone RealPlayer and Firefox.
    2GHz iMacCD 20" 2Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4)
1.25GHz iMac flat panel round bottom   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hello, this happens because Power-PC-plugins usually can't cooperate with Intel-coded programs. I've experienced the same mess with the famous GraphicConverter and TWAIN plugins from Epson. Until Real will not offer Universal-coded plugins, you have to use the Rosetta-bridge with PPC program versions. In such case I generally prefer the FireFox browser.

  • Java Update won't work and runtime error

    I have 2 problems.
    1. First, I am running Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7. I also use Firefox 2.0.0.11.
I have Java SE Runtime Environment 6, but when I try to download Update 3, this is the message I receive on both IE and Firefox:
*"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it,*
*Or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."*
    2. Second, this is my problem when I try to play Text Twist on Yahoo Games: On IE, I get a message stating that the Runtime has requested that the program terminate it in an unusual way. Then IE closes.
On Firefox, the game simply never loads.
When I first got my computer with Windows Vista, I was able to play this game. I don't know what's changed to cause this error to happen.
If any one can help me, I will appreciate it very much.
    Thank you,
    Joy

    I guess I posted to the wrong forum. {embarrassed}
I found the solution for my problems in the forum for java errors. It worked. Thank you.
    >
I had this problem with JRE 1_5_0_09 - after beating it to death, I finally got it.
Note that JRE did NOT appear in my add/remove programs list - also it did not appear when I ran the windows install clean-up utility msicuu2.exe.
    However, when I browsed to
    Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Java
I found a folder named jre1.5.0_09 containing the MSI file which installed JRE perfectly.
I am not sure if everyone with this problem will have the JRE file there, but I imagine that if it's NOT there, placing it there from another system and then running it might also work.
    good luck.

  • WMP Plugin Won't Work Behind University Firewall

Hey people, I'm working behind a university firewall that blocks everything except http and https at the moment. I can't get any of my streaming audio to work when it loads in the Windows Media Player plugin, but streams work fine when I'm using Quicktime or Flash plugins.
My question is, is there a way to choose Quicktime as the default plugin? I mean, I know most of my streams will work on either WMP or QT, but most go straight to WMP. WMP streams work fine on other people's windows machines, which just annoys me more. Any suggestions?

    Hello Stephen:
Many (including me) use a free download called "Flip4Mac." That plug in permits WMP files to be played in Quicktime. In fact, Microsoft has dropped support for WMP on Macs and, as I recall, actually provided a link to Flip4Mac.

  • Java plugin doesn't work, even though it's installed correctly and java programs work.

As stated. I have a link in ~/.mozilla/plugin that points to test/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so, which is the java 6 update 21 runtime environment.
Java doesn't show in about:plugins, and java applets don't start (firefox suggests to install missing plugins).
Java programs using the jre outside the browser work.
This is on Linux 32-bits, Slackware 13.0, kernel 2.6.34.
