• Your favorite resources about effective learning in Captivate?

Hi,
I'm just getting started with Captivate, though I've been working in instructional design in digital publishing for education for a while. Now I'm going for my master's, and I'm planning on doing some hands-on action research about effective ways to creating branching-path experiences using Captivate.
I'd love to know your favorite websites, articles, blogs, books, etc. for finding out how best to use Captivate, not just technically, but some pedagogical some best practices. The same applies to any sources about best practice for branching-path projects as well. I'm already exploring Adobe's offerings.
Thanks!

For python, I like the cherrypy code. Clean and down to earth. For c, I have a number of favorite projects: evince, zlib, dwm, openbox, lua, libpeas, cogl, and clutter. Look on Browse github by language, look at the top projects and see how they are put together, but don't get discouraged! Some of the projects are daunting, absolutely massive, or have weird programming style. Just stick to your guns and look for the simple ones, when you are ready, go back and look at the really complex projects (V8 anyone?) and try to figure out the entry point and work you way from there. I would also highly recommend ack to help you find stuff in a source tree.

• What is your favorite improvement in Firmware v1.2.0

Hello,
We have recently posted a new firmware version to the download center for the Cisco Smart Storage series.
Improvements
Resource Monitor
Web File Manager
UPS Support improvements
NFS version4
SFTP
HFS+
iSCSI v3
Multimedia Station
Mount ISO Shares
Virtual Host
Time Machine updates
Download the new version and let us know what is your favorite improvement?

Hi Eric,
Sorry for the frustration. The firmware 1.2.0 comes with new version of iSCSI (v2). The NSS is now can support multiple LUN on the same iSCSI target and the maximun increase to 256 iSCSI target instead of iSCSI version in firmware 1.1.0 where user can only work with the max of 8 iSCSI targets. While the upgrade can produced much more value, including the migration of iSCSI target to the new scheme of iSCSI version 2. It is neccessary for user to re-initiate the iSCSI initiator again in order to establish the stable iSCSI connection. All your data are still intact. When you re-do the iSCSI initiator, you will have everything back like you used to have and much more new improve/enhancement features that FW 1.2 has to offer.
SInce you are using iSCSI feature, the backward firmware compatibility is strongly not recommended. Please call support team to understand the iSCSI scheme changes.
Please let us know so we can provide further assistant to you.
Best Regards,
Clint Doan

• How do you read your favorite feeds?

Hi! This is my very first post on Arch forums.
I'm wondering about how do you read your favorite feeds? Which software do you use and why (what kind of features).
I'm more interested in finding a little software that uses the system tray.
Yet I'm also curious about just how does, those who utilize RSS, do it.
Personally I've used YARSSR, which is exactly what I want, except for few problems..
On Ubuntu it used to be as easy as make, make install (having build-essenial installed). On Debian 4.0 stable it is in the stable repos, so it was even easier. On Arch it's not in any of the repos nor AUR and make, make install didn't work:
# yarssr
bash: yarssr: command not found
# /usr/local/bin/yarssr
Can't locate Gnome2.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib/yarssr /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i686-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/local/lib/yarssr/Yarssr.pm line 3.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/lib/yarssr/Yarssr.pm line 3.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/bin/yarssr line 13.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/bin/yarssr line 13.
I'd love to understand what's going on. How to install it right.
Anyhow, it's far from perfect anyway. It's the single thing that is not working so perfectly on my Debian as it should. Uses way too much CPU, sometimes stays trying to update and never does update nor allow forced updates, no quitting, etc..
I also use Google Reader, which is great to read many feeds and manage them, etc.
All I want is a little applet (maybe GNOME applet?) that gives me quick glimpse of my top favorite feeds, without using my browser nor launching a full-functional aggregator.

Hi James.
I'd like to know how you want to read your news
i'd prefer a cli frontend, web front would be bonus (river of news style).
snownews is good, just needs a few tweaks, some ui ones, and the main one being:
often i dont get to read news for a few days straight, so i'd like something i can put in cron and it'll update, and log the news for a few days straight, so when i get back it's all there. this generally limits me to one of the web clients, i dont know any desktop apps that do this.
i might write up an app to do this someday
as for your yassr problem, pacman -S gnome-perl?

• Accessing Java Resource in a Java class

How does one go about accessing a java resource object from a java class loaded into the database?
I created a.properties file and loaded it using loadjava.
Next I wrote a class in which I try to load the resource:

When I execute p, I get the following error:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at C.load(C.java:5)
BEGIN p; END;

Never mind. I resolved this using a ResourceBundle, thanks to another posting on this forum. I must say, the oracle documentation for this feature is scant and erroneous.

• How to get stylesheet object from JAVA RESOURCE stored in DB

Hi,
I stored a xslt file in the database and have a JAVA RESOURCE file now. How can i get a stylesheet object from this resource file?
I took the following class to get an impression how to get the contents of the resource but -although the name of the resource was spelled correctly- i got a file not found exception.
Whats wrong?
public class PrintRessource {
public static void print (String p_ressource){
try {
Class c = PrintRessource.class;
System.out.println(c.toString());
InputStream file = c.getResourceAsStream(p_ressource);
if (file == null)
throw new FileNotFoundException("XSLT file not in DB");
byte[] buffer = new byte[4096];
int bytes_read;
while ((bytes_read = file.read(buffer)) != -1)
System.out.println(new String(buffer, 0 , buffer.length));
catch (Exception exp) {
System.out.println(exp);
Thanks

The code works as is. I just forgot to add the slash in front of the Resource file name.

• Import and process larger data with SQL*Loader and Java resource

Hello,
I have a project to import data from a text file in a schedule. A lager data, with nearly 20,000 record/1 hours.
After that, we have to analysis the data, and export the results into a another database.
I research about SQL*Loader and Java resource to do these task. But I have no experiment about that.
I'm afraid of the huge data, Oracle could be slowdown or the session in Java Resource application could be timeout.
Please tell me some advice about the solution.
Thank you very much.

• Access BAPIs Using the SAP Java Resource Adapter

Hi experts,
Can someone tell me how to Access BAPIs Using the SAP Java Resource Adapter?

hi Shweta,
Please refer the step by step procedure:
1. Start the deploy tool of the SAP J2EE Application Server with the DeployTool.bat in the directory //<SAP J2EE Engine Installation Directory/.../j2ee/deploying.
2. Choose Project → New Project and enter a name for the new project.
3. Click on the Deployer tab.
4. From the menu path, choose Deploy → EAR → Load Module and select the sapjra.rar file.
5. For the newly created node sapjra.rar, choose Server Settings → Identity Subjects and select Caller Impersonation as authentication type, so that the J2EE user data is used to log on to the ABAP system.
6. Make sure that the J2EE Application Server is running. Connect to the J2EE Application Server with Deploy → Connect.
7. Deploy the sapjra.rar using the menu Deploy → Deployment → Deploy Module.
8. Enter SAPJRADemo as application name and start the application.
9. Close the deploy tool.
10. Start the Visual Administrator again.
11. Select the Cluster tab and switch to <Server Node> → Services → Connector Container.
12. Click on the Runtime tab and choose sap.com/SAPJRADemo → eis/SAPJRADemoFactory.
13. Choose Managed Connection Factory → Properties. On this page, you need to specify the logon data for the ABAP system. There is already some dummy data visible in the property list if no real system data has been specified so far.
14. To change the value of a property, select the property in the list, change the value underneath it, and add the changes using the Add button. At the end, do not forget to save all changes by pressing the button Save Changes. The user configured for the SAP JRA must be the user authorized to read metadata of function modules.
