Java runtime requirements for clients of Reader Extended forms

I need to know if there is a minimum Java (JRE) requirement on the client machines to properly interact with a Reader Extended form created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 9?
Thank you,

Thank you Paul and Steve for your quick responses.  I was concerned that the JRE might have been an issue causing some odd behaviors within the form at a certain client.  I guess that I will now have to pursue a different path.

  • Runtime requirements for binaries built using Studio 12.3?

Is there any documentation of 'hard' runtime requirements in terms of Solaris kernel etc. versions?
I've just installed Studio 12.3 on Solaris 10 u9 (x64) and both the toolchain and binaries built with it seem to work fine, despite the documented requirement for Sol10u10 for Studio itself.
I can't find anything which talks about runtime requirements for binaries built using Studio.
Are there lurking issues which I may run into in production if I try to deploy binaries built using 12.3 on a Solaris version before 10u10?
    Thanks

The Release Notes for Studio 12.3
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24457_01/html/E21986/ossrn.html#scrolltoc
lists the minimum OS version as "Solaris 10 10/08", which is S10u6, not S10u10. So you are safe in using S10u9. (Sometimes documentation refers to the date of the update and sometimes to the update number, which I agree can be confusing.)
The basic runtime compatibility rule has been that you can run on a newer OS version than where you built, not necessarily on an older OS version. The problem is that new OS versions introduce new interfaces, and a program might intentionally or unintentionally depend on an interface that does not exist in an older Solaris version. In that case, the application would not work on the older OS.
Historically, updates to Solaris were only bug fixes. But Solaris 10 has been out so long that some updates introduced new features and new interfaces.
A safe rule is to build on the oldest OS version that you intend to allow clients to use. For Solaris 10, it is safest to extend that rule to the oldest update that you intend to allow clients to use.

  • ...recommended system & hardware requirements for clients P6 8.2 Clien&Webs

What are the recommended system & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2 ???
I need to know the recommended systems & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2
I mean what kind of processor, memory ram minimum and maximus to run or to deploy P6 Professional Client from P6 8.2 version and the requeriments to run the P6 8.2 Web application.
I need like a chart (not necesary) with the most common configuration with hardware and software like the example below
         SO     Ram     Hdd     Processor
    P6 Professional 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
    P6 Web 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
Because all information I saw it´s about Server (Database, Server Application and others) and not very clever about P6 8.2 Client and P6 8.2 Web.

I haven't seen PC requirements for a Win workstation per se either. Here are the only 8.2 client requirements I can find.

  • ABAP & Java Concepts required for SAP-NW XI/PI

    Hi Experts,
As a fresher, I want to start a career in SAP ans SAP Netweaver- XI/PI. After going through some blogs, forum, sap stuff etc, I came to know the prerequisites for XI is both ABAP and Java...
But I am not sure which concepts in ABAP and Java are required for an SAP XI consultant, as I see SAP itself is an Ocean. So Apart from XI concepts , what are all the concepts needed in ABAP and Java.
As for XI concepts are concerned there is a lot of stuff in SDN itself. Only thing is, one shd have patience to search and proper guidance while learning.

  • TZupdater for the Java Runtime Environment for jdk/jre 1.6

    B"H
    Hi,
I need the TZupdater for the Java Runtime Environment for 1.6, unfortunately the only one that I can find on the Oracle/Java site is :
Java Time Zone Updater Tool 1.3.57
The TZUpdater tool is to enable an Oracle JDK 7 or JRE 7 user to patch their installation with the most recent timezone data
Can someone please point me to the relevant link for JDK 6 or JRE 6
    Thank you in advance

    Hello Yechezkel,
You download any version from this link

This gives the JRE Update Release release and the corresponding TZUpdater Version

  • Completed reader extended forms coming up blank

I have an issue with one of my Reader Extended forms (dynamic form created in LCD ES 8.2) and it's compatibility with different versions of Reader.  The problem occurs when the person completing the form has a different version of Reader than the person receiving the completed form.  When the completed form is opened in a different version, the form appears in it's original, incomplete state.  However, the completed form opens correctly if opened with the same version as was used to complete the form.
All workstations here have either Reader 8.1 or Reader 9.  The order does not seem to make a difference - the Reader 9 completed form cannot be viewed correctly in Reader 8, and vice versa.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Niall,
Changing the binding to "normal" worked. I was having some issues with the performance speed a few months ago, and one of the tips I read in an article was to turn off subform binding. It didn't have any negative effects on the form, but I did not have the opportunity to test it across multiple versions of reader. Even if I had the opportunity, it wouldn't have occurred to me that it might cause an issue such as this because the form data is not bound to an external data source.
    Thanks for your help!

  • JAVA requirements for client PCs

    Hi All,
we are implementing SAP CRM 2007 and of course want to use the new WebUI to access the system. Now especially for marketing scenarios, there seem to be a couple of applets integrated into the normal WebUI (e.g. "Campaign autmoation", "Graphical Modeler", etc).
Can anybody tell me which version of the JAVA runtime is required to be installed on the client PCs using the WebUI ( not on the CRM server itself)? I am looking for the exact version number and a reference to official SAP documentation mentioning that.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Stephen,
thanks for guiding me to these SAP Notes, they were exactly what I was looking for.
I will close this thread accordingly.

  • Requirement for client and server installation

    Hi,
I am using Oracle database 10g and Oracle Developer 10g.I'd like to make a client server application.
    1. What installation is required for the server side?
    2. What installation is required for the client side?
    3. I'd like the client to access the form application using internet browser. What are the configuration should I fullfil?
    Many Thanks,
    Imelda

    Hi,
there is no client-server anymore in Oracle Forms. Its a web only deployment. So 1-2 no longer apply.
    3) You need to install Oracle Jinitiator on the client or the Java 1.4 Plugin. Both can be configured for automatic installation.
See the Oracle Application Server documentation and whitepapers on otn.oracle.com/products/forms to learn about how to install and run Forms Services

  • What is java runtime environment for?

After I downloaded yosemite it request I need to download Java Runtime Environment.  Why is this necessary?

Google is very much our friend.
Java software allows you to run applications called "applets" that are written in the Java programming language. These applets allow you to have a much richer experience online than simply interacting with static HTML pages.
Java Plug-in technology, included as part of the Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (JRE), establishes a connection between popular browsers and the Java platform. Java allows applications to be downloaded over a network and run within a guarded sandbox. Security restrictions are easily imposed on the sandbox.
Many cross platform applications also require Java to operate properly.

  • Need java runtime invironment for vnc is this in mobile or will it download?

Using I1 phone. Want to do VNC remote login to computers. On my laptop firefox gives me an alert to download JAVA runtime invironment. Before the VNC site will allow me to login. I want to know if the mobile version will allow this download or what other options exist

Sorry, there is no Java plugin available for Firefox mobile. Also, current Firefox releases are not compatible with the Motorola i1 phone. For details, see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
You can find VNC apps in the Android Market that might work for your remote login needs.

  • Java Runtime version for Forms on Windows 7 64 bit

Does Application Server require version 6 of Java plugin? We have a user that recently upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7. They installed version 7 of the Java plugin. When they try to run forms from our application server they get a message indicating that they need to install Jinitiator 1.1.8.2 or higher. I installed version 6 on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine and it works fine with forms.

You can set (overriding) the java.vendor system property in java control panel:
    - open java control panel
    - go to on tab 'java', click 'view'
    - add -Djava.vendor="Sun Microsystems Inc."
Now forms run in java 7.
This is a workarround on the client side (disadvantage),
by the way, I tried to push this variable from the server side through java_vendor or java_arguments into html code but unsuccessfully.
NB: You can set "Sun Microsystems Inc." or something else but not 'Oracle Corporation' or 'MICROSOFT' because these strings are tested in the HTTPConnection.class in frmall.jar

  • What .ora file is required for client?

what .ora file is required on client side in order to connect to oracle database server? can we connect to db server without any .ora file? such as tnsname.ora, or even sqlnet.ora, etc.

That depends on a variety of factors, among them
    - What version of the Oracle client you are using
    - What tool you are using to connect
    - How complex your database environment is
    - Whether you are using local naming or are using something like Oracle Internet Directory
A basic install of the 11g thick client, for example, creates a sqlnet.ora file for you that enables the EZConnect syntax. Assuming your tool supports EZConnect, and your database configurations are simple enough to be able to use the EZConnect syntax, no additional configuration would be required. If you are using a tool to connect to Oracle that uses the thin JDBC driver, you need no client-side configuration-- your tool will prompt you for a JDBC URL (or information to generate a JDBC URL) that connects to the database.
On the other hand, in most cases, you generally want to configure a tnsnames.ora file on the client.
