Java se zip release

Dear All,
Does anyone know why has been the java se zip release removed from the download section? Long ago it was a possibility for experts to download the whole jdk in one archive. I need it because I'd like to try the java 6, but I use java 5, and i don't want any trouble after a new jdk install. Is it possible to get jdk 6 as a zip?

There is a solution, but it's not pretty. You can use a hex editor to find all the cab headers in the file ("MSCF"), and extract the individual cabs from the downloaded executable. Each cab will contain a portion of the JDK. The most important one is the cab that contains tools.zip, because it contains the compiler and most of the libraries. You don't need to worry about the length of the cabs so you can just copy from the header to the end of the file. The extra data after the end of the cab will be ignored.
Like I said, not pretty or easy, but if you really wanted to do it that way...
Alternatively, just install on another machine and then copy it to your machine.

Well as the error suggests, it is neither related to OracleAS nor AIX OS. It is complaining about the WAR file you are trying to deploy. Make sure your abc.war is a well formed WAR file. You can search google for tool to validate a war file.

Java.util.zip.ZipException: duplicate entry ??? think not

Ok I have jar file 3rd party, they have 2 entrys in their jar
inetsoft/report/images/printer.gif and
inetsoft/report/images/printer2.gif
Those files are identical best i can tell, and they cause the error. Is there a way to the JWS in version based mode to look up files on full name alones... and don't warry about diffing files with diffrent names ???

Java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry CRC at 11g installation

Hi,
yesterday I experienced a very strange Oracle OUI behaviour helping one of my friends to install 32-bit 11g development system on 32-bit OEL-5.2. It literally made and still makes me mad as I never saw the installation error like that before. The OEL-5.2 installation and settings are identical to mine, all required packages installed. The 11g installation starts normally (software only installation), all OUI Prerequisite checks passes, but at about 30% of installation (extracting phase) it hangs unexpectedly - no CPU activity anymore - it's just hanging forever without any OUI message staying at 30% of installation. But the errorlog `/opt/oracle/oraInventory/logs/oraInstall2008-11-21_22-55-12AM.err' shows:

The extracting and even linking phases succeeded, but, when it came to about 80% of installation (configuration pending), the installation suddenly aborted, OUI window disappeared from the screen, with error message visible only on console:

What specially confuses me here is the fact that this OEL-5.2 installation is identical to mine, with same kernel, same kernel params, shared memory settings, etc. Also, this is obviously a java issue, but it is jdk1.5.0_11-b03 shipped with Oracle 11g. I've never had a problem with it.
Anyone has a clue what the heck is this and what causes those errors during Oracle 11g installation?

The cause of errors was a dying Westen Digital drive, specially the 48G partition reserved only for $ORACLE_BASE (/dev/sdb3 mounted on /opt/oracle).
A simple quick scan of unmounted partition (badblocks -v /dev/sdb3) reported more than thousand new bad blocks (compared to the last scan six months ago). Although I strongly believe, specially in the case of WDC drives, that the best utility to "repair" bad blocks is the one that opens a window and prints the message: "Go to the nearest shop and buy a new drive", I was very curious to prove my suspicion just on this drive. After zero-filling the partition with dd, then formatting it (mke2fs -cc) and mounting again, the 11g installation and database creation (on the same partition) successfully completed, performing fast and smoothly. To make sure it was not a casual event, I repeated the installation once again with full success. The database itself is working fine (by now). Well, the whole procedure took me more than four hours, but I'm pretty satisfied. I learned once again - stay away from Western Digital. As Oracle cannot rely on dying drive, my friend is going tomorrow to spend a 150+ euro on two 250G Seagate Barracudas and replace both WDC drives, even though the first drive seems to be healthy.
In general there is no difference between loading correct data from good disk into bad memory and loading the incorrect data from dying disk into good memory. In both cases the pattern is damaged. For everyone who runs into the problem similar to this, and the cause cannot be easily determined, the rule of thumb must be:
1. test memory and, if it shows any error, check sockets and test memory modules individually
2. check disks for bad blocks regardless of the result of memory testing
Therefore I consider your answer being generally correct.

Zip (java.util.zip) implementation for Java ME

As part of the UrbanWeb project at the Aarhus University in Denmark, the Java util.zip package has been ported to the Java Microedition (Java JME) platform. The porting was based on the GNU Classpath implementation. To avoid future conflicts and name clashes, the package was moved to gnu.classpath.
The package is released under the original license and is freely available for all mobile Java developers.

Bug on native code of OJVM java.util.zip.CRC32.updateBytes(CRC32.java)

I want to unzip OpenOffice 1.0 files inside the OJVM but it fails into the native method java.util.zip.CRC32.updateBytes(CRC32.java).
The first execution of the code runs OK, but the second not.
After a long wait it shutdown the connection and the oracle trace file shows an stack trace like this:

Basically it takes the content from a BLOB column of the wpg_document table, unzip it using java.util.zip package, look for the file content.xml and parse it using Oracle XML toolkit.
Using an open source utility which replace java.util.package (http://jazzlib.sourceforge.net/) it works perfect because is a pure java application.

Well, the whole procedure took me more than four hours, but I'm pretty satisfied. I learned once again - stay away from Western Digital. As Oracle cannot rely on dying drive, my friend is going tomorrow to spend a 150+ euro on two 250G Seagate Barracudas and replace both WDC drives, even though the first drive seems to be healthy.
In general there is no difference between loading correct data from good disk into bad memory and loading the incorrect data from dying disk into good memory. In both cases the pattern is damaged. For everyone who runs into the problem similar to this, and the cause cannot be easily determined, the rule of thumb must be:
1. test memory and, if it shows any error, check sockets and test memory modules individually
2. check disks for bad blocks regardless of the result of memory testing
Therefore I consider your answer being generally correct.

getting a java.util.zip.zipexception : a device attached to the system is not functioning error - what could cause such an error?
My program finds all zip files in an archive and then searches through them for xls files, which it extracts and re-locates.
I havent even a clue where to look for the cause of this exception but Ill attach at the bottom the code in the general vicitiny of the trigger so that you can get kind of an idea what Im trying to do, and if im lucky, even spot my problem. :) Thanks!!

Hey there a few things.
Make sure that you dont use fileseparators like you do. ("/")
Use the separator generated for your system.
Something like:
String sep = System.getProperty("file.separator");
You mentioned it work local, but not network.
Either you have plenty of harddrives or L: is a mapped drive.
Is it working at the mapped drive?
When you say on the network, how are you accessing the files?
Could it be possible for another user to lock a file, so you wont have access to it over the network?

I am sure this error would have been posted many number of times, but I would really appreciate if someone could help me with my problem. I am working on reading data from a .zip file, which in it has ~5GB data. All I am performing is a read operation through the piece of code specified below. This code worked well for .zip files handling till ~2.5GB

I get the same exception while reading a ZIP file. The size if the ZIP file is just 82KB but I am reading it over FTP not sure if it makes any difference. I am using JDK 1.4.2_05. Here is the code I am trying to execute.

I'm getting this error when I try to execute my application in JDeveloper: Error(5): java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry size (expected 2875 but got 2845 bytes)
This started to happen after I had checkout my application to CVSNT.
Any help?
P.S. I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3 with CVSNT 2.5

Today I opened my working project in Jdeveloper 10.1.3 version and as I compile the project, it gives me this error in all Jsf - Jsp pages.
The line that it shows the above error in my pages is follows.
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
Any idea ? Till yesterday, I never got this error and all of sudden it started showing up.

I created a jar file, and put in C:\tools
C:\tools>java -jar myjar.jar is working fine
However, if I try to run myjar.jar in other directories, then I have problems.
I already set the classpath:
SET CLASSPATH=.;%CLASSPATH%;C:\tools\myjar.jar;
Here's the error. Any ideas???

You always need to specify a proper file name when you use the -jar switch. If you are not in c:\tools you have to run with "java -jar c:\tools\myjar.jar".
Setting the classpath in particular doesn't help becuase the file name given to the -jar switch will override all settings for classpath. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/tooldocs/findingclasses.html#userclass
But since you now have myjar.jar in your classpath, you can run the application from any directory with "java your.main.ClassName" :)

Java.util.zip.ZipException error in opening zip file

Hello all,
We are using Sun Java System web server 6.1 SP2. When I tried to deploy an application, I received this message: "Posted content length of --- exceeds limit of --- " the -dashes are the size of the file actually.
I then added an init-param to the web.xml specifying the maximum size.
After doing that, I tried to deploy the war file using administration interface, but received a network tcp/ip error. I then deployed it using command line wdeploy command. It worked but the web server won't start up after the deployment. The following error messages are found in the log file. Any thoughts as to whats wrong here? Is there a bug in SP2?

I am a newbie and this is my first JWS deployment. I have an app that I am writing in Netbeans 6.1 that I want to deploy via JWS. The app accesses five different JAR libraries and that is where my troubles started. I thought that I needed to figure a way to configure Netbeans so the libraries would be deployed with my app JAR so it would run correctly using JWS.
I was trying to get things working and now my problem is that when I build I am getting the following error:

As a newbie to Netbeans I sometimes have difficulty figuring out where all the different things are hidden ... I **think** it all went bad when I was working on the Properties > Libraries > Compile > Compile-time Libraries but I can't remember.
So I have two questions really:
1) How can I resolve the ZipException error? I suspect it is one of the JAR libraries but how can I tell ?
2) How do I get JWS to find my five libraries ? I now suspect that I am supposed to upload the five libraries to the webserver and then in my JNLP it will have links to the libraries in the <resources> part of the code. Is that correct ?

Rather than spend to much time figuring this out, I just used my revert modifications through my SVN to go back to a previous version that builds correctly.

It is saying that the library file is missing. Can you deploy pg.com/iprsciprdc_intreg_process first and try to deploy this ear temp7081pg.comiprscipr~dc_intreg_process.ear.
