Java support for lumia 520

I couldn't be able to open dropdown menu in various website's which is easy to open in a windows7/8 laptop.
This has restricted my usage with lumia 520.
Is their is any solution for it?

rohoit2013,
Welcome to Nokia Discussions!
The reason is that Windows Phone devices, including the Lumia 520, does not support native Java.
Hope this clears

Windows Vista can't find bluetooth drivers for Lumia 520. Where can I download these from?

File Transfer Protocol is not supported in Windows Phone. To my knowledge you can use OBEX to transfer files provided obviously both sides support this.

  • Equalizer For Lumia 520

    Hii,
Wanted to ask how i could get an audio equalizer for Lumia 520? Went through a few topics that say 520 doesn't has the hardware to support an equalizer. Is this true?
Moderator's note: We have amended the subject as the post was moved to the correct thread.

it is a quite stupid answer that you have gave. we cant expect an equliser in a phone.... which is called a smart phone...( i dont know  that still holds with the lumia 520)
when the basic functions are lacking and yu justify with "it is an entry phone"
    that is upsurd...
then what the hell are we suppose to do with this candy shaped thing that we bought using our cash.. just throw it out and wait..
Then may I ask why L520 doesn't have a 41MP camera, just like the one in 1020? Equalizer maybe a basic feature of an MP3 player, but definitely not a basic feature of a smart phone. Smart phones may play music files, but that doesn't mean that they will have all music player features.

  • Dolby audio settings for Lumia 520

As every nokia Lumia windows phone 8 device has a Dolby audio settings with a equalizer in the settings menu, there are presets and a
custom one. This is not available in Lumia 520. This is utter discrimination, just because it is a low end Lumia device. If Nokia didn't want to give us Dolby audio settings, then why show a audio menu like in other devices and when we open its blank. This is teasing us. They shouldn't have put the audio settings in the settings menu for Lumia 520. Firmware. This is very bad nokia. Either update the firmware by removing audio from the settings or just give Lumia 520 users a equalizer. All the devices have the same chipset 520,720,620. A qualcom msm8227 with 2 krait cores and same adreno 305 gpu. But 520 doesn't have the equalizer , the other devices do have it. I expect a. Prompt reply. Nokia.

I am so disappointed with the way this lumia 520 turned out to be. There is no speed dial function, when even typing the numbers you have to type it,fully without the phone giving suggestions. There is no means to go forwards when using internet explorer, and you cannot set personal ringtones unless you use a computer or an app that does that. It is so messed up and uncool. I just hope all these are corrected in the amber update, speaking of which we don't even know when it would be released.

  • Support for Lumia 720,820,520,620

    Hi,
I do understand that lumia 720 is year old device. But you haven't yet run any promotional offers for the device. Like in case of 525,1020, 1520 and 625 etc you had Gameloft games or Vouchers for buying apps.
However this isn't in the case for 620,520,720,820 etc.
Also I volume button doesn't work anymore. Every time I goto the service center / Nokia care, they don't have parts available apparently. This HURTS.
This has been going on for a month or so. Why is this happening?
    Can I get some INFO?
    Thanks!

Why do you say you were stuck with the 800. Microsoft and Nokia put out the update for the  Lumia 505, 510, 610, 710, 800, 800C and 900?
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia-software-update/
What he meant was the older 800 isn't upgradable to WP 8 from WP 7 and wanted to know if his 520 would be stuck at WP 8 only with no major upgrade path in the future.

  • Stiff Battery cover for Lumia 520

Today I configured my first Lumia 520 and it was an 'interesting' experience.
    I have 2 complaints:
    1. Whilst the battery cover adds a nice feel to the phone, it is stiff and very difficult to peel off.
    2. The online instructions provided for peeling off the battery cover frightens me, that I will bend the motherboard, hence break the phone.
This was an issue associated with wearing mobiles around ones waist causing many repairs.  Motorola models seemed the worst affilicted.
    I'm filled with trepidation.

The technique described in the online instructions lets the back cover be removed with very little force.  You just have to be sure that you insert your thumbnail between the soft outer cover and the hard inner shell, and not between the hard shell and the screen.
At first glance it can seem that you are supposed to put your thumbnail into the cutout for the earpiece, but that's not right.  There's a narrow, hard ridge that runs right around the edge of the screen, and you insert your thumbnail outside that ridge to peel away the soft plastic case that clips around it.
    Hope that helps.

  • Brightness Slider for Lumia 520 with cyan?

I officially updated my Lumia 520 to cyan and was searching for Brightness & Tint slider. Where is the Brightness & Tint slider under display setting? Has it been properly updated or I missed out something? I saw this feature in Lumia 630 which was running cyan update.

Thank you for your reply, as you mentioned  I checked under Settings > Display and I got 3 option under it, Sunlight readability, Battery saver brightness, and Colour profile, under Colour profile > Colour temperature & Colour saturation Sliders. My all system apps are up to date including display app, but I am not getting Brightness profile and tint option under it. Is the brightness profile option available to Lumia 520? If yes then why my lumia 520 doesn't show it? I have attached my Lumia 520 display setting screenshots, just have a look.
    Thank you!

  • Java support for file of large dimension

    Hi friends,
Do you know if exist a support for managing file of large dimension (about 2GB) using java? BerkeleyDB could be a good support?
    thanks

As Kaj mentioned before, using an NTFS partition, you should be able to write files of extreme sizes (for instance, an NTFS partition that is 200GB in size may store a single 200GB file).
Of course, using FileChannel objects, you shouldn't actually try and write the full 2+ GB of data at once, because that will effectively require over 2GB RAM for the data of your application alone. Instead, append your datafile one segment at a time (the size of the segment, in bytes, is roughly the amount of RAM you need for your data). Perhaps you can directly write the bytes into FileChannel (ie: when your measurements take place), which does not require a byte buffer.
Neither FileChannel nor File impose size restrictions beyond what the underlying operating system and type of partition impose. For example: a FAT32 partition can't deal with files over 4GB, so no language (Java, C++, whatever) will make it possible to store 4+ GB files on a FAT32 partition.
If you rewrite a portion of my [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=562837&start=15&range=15&hilite=false#2770450]sample from the thread "storing in Java", you should be able to write a 4GB file on your NTFS partition. Change the size of the byte buffer to 64MB and the amount of cycles to 64 and you're there.
I'm not sure how long it will take to write 64 chunks of 64MB, but don't expect it to finish in a few seconds. My regular IDE drive takes 2.25 seconds for a 60MB file (yet, my Serial-ATA drive does it in 1078ms, so don't forget that hardware has a significant impact on I/O performance as well).

  • Java support for runescape

Anyone out there using runescape?   since i downloaded lion i cannot get into runescape,  Please let me know of any fixes or options i may have.
    Thanks

Apple recently completely "disabled" Java and its support in recent versions of OS X "Updates" because of the severe security problems that Java has been found to have.  You would have to Google Java Installation for Macs and find a download site to reinstall it if you REALLY want to have it back, but would be doing so at your own risk.

  • Antivirus for Lumia 520

Hi, everybody. I just bought a new Nokia Lumia 520 and was thinking of downloading and installing some anti-virus, before proceeding to upload applications like Skype, Facebook, Viber etc. Any suggestions ?
p.s. Just don't give me that "Lumia has no antivirus-Lumia needs no antivirus" answer  This ain't Gondor  And, BTW, if it's so , why'd they post this : Install antivirus and other security software on your device   http://www.nokia.com/in-en/support/product/lumia-520/userguidance/?action=singleTopic&topic=S-HARMFU...  ?!?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi @Glenn011 ,
The official advice from Nokia on the local Nokia webpages is to "install antivirus and other security software" on both the phone and the computer, just as @hagarDhorrible says in the original post. - Also in Denmark:
